881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 21, 2016, 03:22:26 AM
BTER, come on.

LOL, with 2 hrs to go they will fix XCR? I know a bunch of guys who could not take on LISK because BTER was pretending they could not handle the job of getting withdrawals working. NOW they decide to fix this, jesus.

Yeah, if someone was the suspicious sort, you'd think maybe someone from Bter scooped up all the cheap XCR from people dumping (because Bter wouldn't refill their hot wallet). And now they are panicking realizing the chain isn't moving so smoothly.
882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCR] Crypti | Dapps | Sidechains | Dapp Store | OPEN SOURCE | 100% own code | DPoS on: March 21, 2016, 03:16:56 AM
A BTER representative is currently in the Lisk chat looking for an up to date Crypti blockchain image. They are having issues syncing and are stuck at 80%

If you are still a Crypti delegate and are forging, I suggest logging into lisk.chat and provide the blockchain image.

At least they didn't wait until the last moment.

Folks have had stuck XCR on Bter for weeks. Now with 2 hrs left in the ICO, they are concerned about the blockchain issue? Why? Did they decide to open up their cold wallet and convert it for themselves or something?
883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Altcoins would you keep if you have $500? on: March 18, 2016, 07:19:48 PM
It's less important which altcoin you choose, than when you buy said altcoin.

ETH for instance could be a good choice. But not now. If it goes down (a lot), then gobble it up and hold for next release (which I assume is ways down the road). Best bet is to pick one or more undervalued coins that have developments on the way. Then sell at the right time.

Just spreading $500 across 10 coins probably won't result in a real gain. Whatever you gain with some coins, you'll lose with the others.

If anyone here states specific coins to invest in, all you can be sure of is that person holds those exact coins and is hoping for a price rise.
884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 17, 2016, 07:46:07 PM

archcoin too, from 6k to 13k in a week then dumped, and pumped again 8 month later.

We don't know what will happen after lisk hit an exchange, someone will sell if pump someone will sell if dump. Someone will hold if pump, waiting a bigger pump, someone will buy lower and lower.

The smart way to play it is to sell a small portion of your coins if Lisk pumps 2-4x value (or higher). Then either rebuy if it goes cheaper, or just consider it as covering your initial investment.

If it dumps to or below ICO, just hold. You'll get into profit eventually. It's tempting to play the 'sell for a loss, but buy back at an even better rate' game, but that can quickly go horribly, horribly wrong.
885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 17, 2016, 07:39:41 PM
is there a coin which rose in value just after ico?
in my memory the price always dropped first

Sure, plenty rose after an ICO hit the exchange.
XBC comes to mind (it went insane, like 30x value in weeks). XCR even rose 2-3x after the ICO.

And of course some drop. There are some in-betweeners, coins that rose after the ICO was over, but didn't hit an exchange yet (so off exchange trades)... then fell back to ICO levels once on an exchange. Not sure if that counts as a real drop or not.

Basically saying, it can go anywhere: up, down or sideways.

886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 17, 2016, 06:58:50 PM

Will the dev put some support in the markets? With all those BTC I think it's a good way to show trust in their project and it's good for them if people will dump they will gain more coin. At ico price maybe

My initial thought when they were setting up the ICO was similar, that the devs should set up a buy wall. But now I think it's sort of pointless. With the amount of BTC taken in, it should be relatively easy to build up the value of the coin ... even if it does slip to or beneath ICO levels, I don't see it staying there very long. All of these FUD people will then mysteriously vanish from this thread as they buy up cheap coins, then turn into hype supporters as the coin rises (using other accounts usually).
887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 17, 2016, 06:32:19 PM
You have nothing better to do instead of screaming scam? Tongue

Expect more of the same as soon as the coin hits the exchanges (and during).

As primarily such people want the price of the coin to crash, so they can scoop up cheap Lisk beneath ICO levels.

Of course there could be other reasons... holders of other coins who for whatever reason think this coin (or any successful ICO) would negatively impact the value of their own holdings, or those who cashed out all of their XCR and now don't want to feel bad if Lisk succeeds, or those who don't understand proportional values, and think less Lisk = less value. Of course once in a while there is just the plain troll, but I believe the majority of such people have financial gain of some sort in mind (or otherwise they truly have no life, spending time posting in a coin they have no interest in).

I don't mean this as a defense of Lisk either, as hype people can be just as bad too. But their motives are more obvious, and assume fud or hype, at this point I assume most people realize it plays little role in the value of a coin ... whales move the market, not some guy posting in annoying fonts in a forum.
888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 15, 2016, 06:35:22 PM

and well not many maids sold at 3500. the ico price was 5500.. so at 25k we're only looking at 5x.. and how many ico holders sold on the way up thinking it would go back down.. and then.. it didnt. i got in late though. i watched it rise from 12k and decided to get in at 17k after i read about maid. i was confident that even at 17k my investment was safe.3 weeks later.. and its proving that to be totally true.

It's been so long, I forgot what the ICO price even was. I do know it was floating around 3500-4000 for like seemingly forever though. Last year it was 4000ish... same time this year it was 4000ish.

Longterm, you may be correct though. I just didn't want this guy to invest all of his birthday money off of a coin's high ... when it has gone up a lot already. A small investment, or whatever he is willing to lose... sure, it's up to him.

I tend to be naturally pessimistic with all cryptos, so assume everything is manipulated, what goes up, eventually comes down, and so on ... so take that for what you will. I'm also saying this as someone who still holds some Maid -- bought in at 5K, sold most at 17Kish (yeah, sold too early) ... then bought back in a small amount in low 20s. So I still expect it to go up, but not quite as optimistic as you are ... and who knows longterm.
889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 15, 2016, 05:32:39 PM
I Think the wales are keeping the price of this coin down, when Maidsafe will be implemented in banks and Ethereum, the price will go wild!
Soon Is my birthday and I am going to invest my birthday money in a few coins And this will be one of them, I just hope the price hasnt skyrocketed by then 17 march, what do you think guys?

at this stage i think we're good for anything under 30k considered cheap. yes the live release will be wild. i dont see any reason why almost every website on the internet wont want to transfer to maidsafe network. its so simple and userfriendly to operate and you get soooo much security. so yes i have no doubt.. live will be another story. some people think this is speculation price, but i think its actual early bird demand. speculation might take maid over .008btc a share. and yes i honestly think that is realistic. considering demand will not use their coins for trade but to buy storage on the network.

Yeah, you are a tad more optimistic than I am. What I see is a coin that went from 3500 up to 30K... currently waiting for MVP, so at least 1-2 more chances to pump higher.

After release, who knows. One would think it'd fallback, but it depends on if whales want to keep pumping after MVP to a certain point. It will fall back at a certain point, happens with all coins... question is where it ends up, and when whales decide to withdraw.

I wouldn't worry about banks/eth (that is hype talk). I think it simply comes down to when they announce MVP and IF the whales use that to pump up the price. Dev update should be today, so we'll know soon enough if it's this week or not.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 15, 2016, 04:33:22 PM
the whale shouldn't make it so obvious that he is controlling the market and the price  Cheesy

This is a 50/50 gamble now if you are not on the inside. Take care!

Happens with all coins. If anyone believes in 'natural growth', they are fooling themselves. I do agree however that the maid whale (or whales) has been extremely obvious in their manipulations... from insane buy walls to shakeouts. Figuring out their whale patterns is the problem, however.

One would logically think after this shakeout, there would be another rise (w/ MVP release), then fallback again. But things don't always play out logically, so who knows.
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 14, 2016, 10:51:25 PM
Looks like I bought at the top 0.00027500 a week ago.

Top was higher than that. Besides, MVP hasn't been released yet ... I wouldn't worry. Just let whales play their games.

(assumption anyway, who knows what whales really plan to do).
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 14, 2016, 10:02:42 PM

you know, this is one time I wish this info had come out in a week lol but absolutely great news for lisk

Yeah, timing isn't exactly optimal. Right before (or after) coin hits the exchange, and this is good news. But all this probably will do is bring in some extra btc into the ico.
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: March 14, 2016, 09:00:44 PM
ELC ticker was since at 2013 and live now — https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=766417.0
Please change the coin name!

CEP?  The Coin of the Elastic Project.

If renaming, not so sure about that one. Coin of the Elastic Project doesn't exactly roll off one's tongue... and CEP doesn't automatically lead one to think of 'Elastic'.

Maybe just Elastic (ELA), Elastic Network (ELN), Elastic Token (ELT), or Elastic Project (ELP), etc. -- something that starts with E probably would be best. Although I guess one should make sure those letters aren't taken already.
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: March 14, 2016, 05:03:39 PM

Some call it FUD, others call it common sense.

Regardless of what you call it, the timing just seems weird to me. Wait until the coin hits the exchange, then spread your 'common sense'... probably more effective then (assuming 'common sense' works at all). In reality, it's the whales that move the markets, so it's probably just idiots spouting fud or hype for no real reason.
896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: March 14, 2016, 04:29:08 PM
For those going into fud/negative mode, I do need to ask you about your timing.

Time to go into fud mode is right before/and during the coin hits an exchange, so you can logically scoop up cheap coins beneath ICO levels (or at least assume that would be the goal). Doing so now won't have much effect; it's too early.

Otherwise, I don't get why someone would waste their time in a coin they obviously have no interest in. Fud/hype always serves a purpose for whomever is posting, but the timing right now doesn't seem to serve any purpose at all. Unless they think if they can somehow incite panic now, and keep the ICO to a reasonable level, it'll create more dumpers... but ICO already has taken in enough btc to sustain itself.

Just wondering...
897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: March 13, 2016, 09:18:10 PM

It is a nice way of handling it in my opinion, although wouldn't it better to make it require more than just 2 signs?

It would be better if it required 3 or more signs (although, again, I don't want to be the person with the 3rd key).

As it is, the 3rd key is just useful in case EK vanished for some odd reason (not that I think he'd vanish). Or if I was a maniac, and tried to get Lannister to release the funds somewhere where they shouldn't go.
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bag Hodlers on: March 13, 2016, 07:28:02 PM
My personal best was Mazacoin. I put in about $50 equivalent then went away for the weekend. It was about 20c when I returned.

It's weird you mention this, as I did pretty much the same exact thing. At the time I was brand new to crypto, had only crumbs to play with, and put in like $40 or so (which at the time was a lot of my meager stash of btc crumbs)... and I'm thinking this is cool, maybe this Indian BTC could be worth 5-10x as much, maybe even more. And down, down it goes, seemingly immediately, down to smithereens.

Useful lesson at the time.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 13, 2016, 06:50:00 PM

18k still valid target for floor?

Look at some of those buy orders on Polo... doesn't seem likely it'll be hitting 18K with those orders up. Of course this is being pumped, but their idea of a floor evidently is higher than that. Expect they are keeping the price within a certain range while they churn profits each week, until MVP is finally released. So eventual pump... then it's anyone's guess.

Floor after release... who knows...  expect it to fall, but no idea where it'll fall to.

He explains what these funds are needed for.

That method could work, but when I asked Lannister about posting details or providing a ledger on expenses, he replied with:

Quote
But there will be no detailed break-down of how the donated funds will be spent.

It doesn't have to be a super specific ledger, but the way he worded his response seemed like no information at all would be provided.
