881  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if Gox runs out of Bitcoins? on: October 19, 2013, 04:27:38 PM
Bitstamp and the Chinese exchanges are keeping up with MTGox http://btckan.com/price. Also BTC will flow into MTGox at a price. Let us not forget that EUR and JPY can and do leave MTGox.
SEPA transfers are supposed to be completed within 1 business day.
Since they take several weeks from Mt. Gox, saying that "EUR can leave Mt.Gox" is inexact at the very least.
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi identified, now what? on: October 19, 2013, 04:18:30 PM
I think at this point, even if the real Satoshi came forward with proof of who they are no one would believe them.

All he has to do is sign a message using the private key for 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa.
Or someone who somehow stole his private key.

I agree, we would never believe him.
And that's good, it means his plan is working.
Assuming this was his plan.
883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the loss of confidence in litecoin? on: October 19, 2013, 04:15:21 PM
I have LTC but it's a hedge against something unforseen happening to Bitcoin.
Give me one single example of something bad which might happen to affect Bitcoin but not affect neither Litecoin nor cryptography in general.
(hint: is sha is broken, we would have much bigger problems than Bitcoin)

Please stop responding to this guy. He's the eternal return of TECHICENINE/Ira H. Fuchs/etc. Beggar, scammer, nonsensical sentences.

I think Hope isn't the right strategy to apply in this game..
Or in any game, for that matter.

"In the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope."
- Barack Obama

Hope is a strategy in any game as of Oct 16. 2013 since it was just passed into law as the Hope-is-a-strategy amendment to H.R. 2775 that ended the US gov't shutdown.

Take care

Only in Region 1.
886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the loss of confidence in litecoin? on: October 19, 2013, 01:31:54 PM
because litecoin brings nothing significant to the table that bitcoin does not have.

Thanks for spaming the blockchain https://blockchain.info/address/1LDAdsJHqtqb5LTaLqghTxbFyDiDrAFbnK much appreciated..

Will these transactions full of dust be confirmed eventually?
888  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: October 19, 2013, 12:53:01 PM
You could even get fancy and give us the option to pick our exchange (for price) and give the option to enter a % premium or % discount.
This would be really great, the feature of picking your price in your home currency is great, but unless you can chose which exchange to trust for the price, it isn't really useful.

The current client stages are:

- The client will submit its "offer", which is the inputs it wants mixing and the desired outputs.
- The server waits a certain amount of time for other clients to submit their offers.
- The server combines everyone's offers and creates a "proposal".
- The clients check they are happy with the proposal and sign their inputs.
- The server submits the final transaction.

The entire process takes about 40 seconds.
Does this imply that you only "mix" your coin with people also trying to mix them in those 40 seconds?
i.e. it works much better within peak activity?
889  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 19, 2013, 12:30:48 PM
What if the "ASIC cartel" is this anyone? They (like most players in the Bitcoin world) have a vested interest in an everlasting uptrend in the Bitcoin price.

Because they want to sell their overpriced hardware.

With increasing difficulty this gets increasingly difficult. Unless ... unless the price of Bitcoin also rises  Wink

So what if the "ASIC cartel" silently agreed to peg the market (or should I say: manipulate)?
They are usually barely able to actually produce and ship their hardware, let alone team up for a conspirancy...
890  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 19, 2013, 12:27:16 PM
I paid huge cost to learned this...  BTC just touched 195 USD...
Actually it's 165$, what price did you look at?
(still high though, and that's good)

what's happen? Did I missed something?
People losing faith in their fiat currencies?

and also AM is at 0.8 ,which is so painful , I sold my shares around 0.625 ...because I was losing faith....
I'm sorry for you, really.
891  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC not so anonymous with Coinbase? on: October 19, 2013, 12:25:03 PM
An exchange knows who you are, but how do they know if the address you're withdrawing your coins to is your's?
Legally you are allowed only to withdraw to your addresses, AFAIK.
892  Economy / Marketplace / Re: So you think you're going to start a Bitcoin business, right? on: October 19, 2013, 12:21:25 PM
When S.DICE was announced, a bunch of forum muppets rambled on about how it's not worth its valuation because "everyone could do it". And I laughed at them then and so to prove my point that they're laughable idiots they declared that they shall do it! It's been months, who has managed to steal the business?
Just-Dice rightly demolished S.DICE.
"Doing it right" won this time.

(of course since it's not listed on mpex you'll come here crying that they are incompetent and stuff)
893  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Microsoft Product Keys on: October 19, 2013, 12:16:36 PM
Guy, really.
What you are doing is likely illegal.
And it's not like you are anonymous, the copies are directly tracable to you.
Are you sure you want to go on doing this?

There's a pretty high correlation of self moderated topics and scams.

I've left a trust feedback, just in case.
896  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Swiss to vote on 2,500 franc basic income for every adult on: October 19, 2013, 11:10:21 AM
If the EU doesn't FOAD, the next best thing it could do is join Switzerland. Grin
Not a bad idea, where do we apply?
But no Landsknecht please.
897  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust is BAD. Very bad. on: October 18, 2013, 03:13:39 PM
I don't really think the red numbers mean that much. I find the trust system to be more like a personal feedback/suggestion system.
You don't think they matter, but the average user likely does.
Furthermore, I agree it's personal, and exactly because it's personal it shouldn't have a default.
898  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust is BAD. Very bad. on: October 18, 2013, 03:12:45 PM
TLDR;I think the problem you actually have is that you're upset that someone who is great at catching scammers is catching scammers.
The rest of your post is interesting and reasonable, and I guess I'll answer it properly tomorroy.

This part however just eludes me. I'm absolutely clueless on why you think such a thing, could you elaborate, please? (either here or in private).
899  Other / Off-topic / Re: Iranian survives death sentence - and sheduled for repeating hanging on: October 18, 2013, 02:36:22 PM
Actually in any sane country there wouldn't be death sentences in the first place.
Why not? Eye for an eye, prosecution is all about revenge anyway.
Because mistakes happen.

And then you fix them.

Wow, you know how to resurrect dead people? Amazing!

hint: I was talking about judicary mistakes. i.e. someone wrongly condemned for something he hasn't done. The fact that you didn't even get it is quite worrysome...
