881  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: July 02, 2023, 05:23:41 AM
Well, my country Nigeria definitely does not meet the standard of Europe in every area, but certainly, with the way things have been so far, I personally can not consider someone who does not pay taxes a bad person, I myself started paying taxes since around 2010 when I started working, in 2017, I quit salary work to start up my own business, I continued paying taxes till 2020 when I had to stop, at a point, It was as if I was just throwing money away, paying taxes and yet, our currency kept losing value, I stopped paying taxes and till this day, I've not and will never bother about taxes except something changes in my country.

but still that is against the law and tax evasion which you could get punished but in the eyes of law you are a bad person but for others not because we cant really blame you and others as we can't really see progress on it as well as a lot of corrupt official that are using our money, but again we slare obligated to pay the tax no matter what as it is a law. But even my self I haven't paying taxes for couple of years now but before that I've been paying tax for a long time

Yes, breaking a law means you're violating a rule that is considered a bad deed imagine killing a person is a crime and a bad thing to do right? Then it's the same when you're avoiding taxes. But if you're not too blind in the system since we all know that there's a corrupt in the government then maybe a small business doesn't already need a tax since a small profit is already for their living. Maybe it would be good to say this to rich people who really do this thing.
882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How big is your optimism for crypto investment? on: July 02, 2023, 02:15:46 AM
Bitcoin already proved a lot of opportunities through the years. It changed a lot of people's life as Bitcoin gave them a chance. It's pretty normal for Bitcoin to have bear market that long since it's volatile, if you're a good investor with a optimistic side then you would take advantage of the current situation of the Bitcoin's market. It survived this long plus Bitcoin is already spreading worldwide even locally there's no need to doubt now Bitcoin. Still in the end, it's still dependa on the people on how they handle this kind of situation in this industry if you lack the knowledge, you have less opportunity to succeed.
883  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Silliman University College of Law Professor Launch Platform To Educate Bitcoin on: July 01, 2023, 03:37:51 PM
Sa NCR may school na nagtuturo patungkol sa Blockchain and with this one, panigurado mas mapapadali ang way of learning naten kase may reliable source na tayo sa language na mas madali natin maiintindihan. Marami ng financial advocate ang nagpupush na aralin ang Bitcoin, sana magkaroon den ng support ang government tungkol dito para mas dumami pa ang magadopt ng Bitcoin and even with the businesses.

Andami na talaga yung girlfriend ko may professor na nagtuturo ang sinabi daw sa kanila is side line lang daw niya ang pag tuturo pero ang ginagawa niya daw talaga is more on crypto. Since may alam ako sa crpyto pinakwento ko sa kanya ano sinasabi sa kanila like how the prof educate them even the basic background of Bitcoin. Sabi daw sa kanila is habang bata pa raw sila mas okay na mag invest tapos ang main na nag iinvest ang prof nila is crypto which is financially freedom na raw siya due to investing in crypto. Siguro kahit di siya counted as subject in some schools pero na sspread ng ibang teacher yung Bitcoin for them na makilala ito and maturuan pa ang iba't mabigyan din ng opporunity.
884  Local / Pilipinas / Re: 6 Crypto Friendly banks sa Pinas on: July 01, 2023, 02:39:36 PM
UnionBank talaga unang sinasabi sakin ng friends ko nung balak ko mag open ng bank account since lumalaki na kita ko sa crypto industry lalo na nung time na mga pre-pandemic which is 2020-2021 kasi yung Gcash ko is napuno kasi laman ng Gcash kaya di na ko makareceive ng mga pera so naisipan ko mag open ng bank. So sinabihan ako ng parents ko tatanungin daw ako kung ano ang source of money ko if sabihin ko daw na crpyto di daw tatanggapin sa mga known banks like BDO. Then sinabi sakin ng mga crpyto friends ko mag union bank nalang ako which is good nga kaya nakarami ako hahaha.
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing doesn't guarantee you to be rich on: July 01, 2023, 02:07:43 PM
No one can guarantee to earn profit through investment. Because there are many types of risks hidden inside the investment that cannot be understood from the outside.

I have read somewhere that you can’t make money if you are saving your money. You have to make money from money, and that too from investing only. I have seen often people keep on saving the money and later target someone who invests and gets some money. They don’t want to take the risk but still want to be rich. Hence, to make money, you need to have the guts to invest and take risks. I know investing has a lot of risk, but if you won’t take it, then how can you be successful? Yes, investing with proper guidelines and precautions will surely help you make good money.

Exactly, because by saving money for sure you would be using that money in the future in the end you're saving would be empty. So that's why it would be better to make those money work for you than store it, of course there's no guarantee that you would be rich in investing but studying it would help you gain knowledge and once you've enter in this industry you would gain experience which needed for you to grow so that you're money would also grow. Investing has a risk involves but you can lessen those risk if you study enough before trying things out, it's a win-win situation if you risk that risk since if you earn then that's good but if you lose you will still earn which is experience.
886  Economy / Economics / Re: Bad impact when You carry out Online or Offline Loans on an ongoing basis on: July 01, 2023, 01:43:55 PM
I think if you're using online loans which could be problematic in the future since if you can't really pay them at time they will increase some interest right? But if you don't really pay them at all you would be red tagged and couldn't even use any transactions for their company. It might be a bad background that maybe the reason you can't loan anymore at all. When it comes to physical it's just about the embarassment if you can't pay the person at all if that's your friend at case. But if it's some registered company they would literally go to your house everyday keeps reminding you or else they would come back with polices.
887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't be intimidated on: July 01, 2023, 01:23:36 PM
Thing is whenever they see people earning already a lot in this industry, they would put all in without even investing first on themselves with knowledge. Studying such complicated thing especially if you don't have any background a day wouldn't be sufficient. Some people took years before entering in this market as they've studied a lot even the techniques and must do. Being spoon fed by information and easy money is most of the common thing a newbie have especially if they are not determined enough. Since if you take some losses bad, then it's up to you much better to take it as an experience to avoid in the future.
888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ads for online gambling should be banned. on: July 01, 2023, 03:12:11 AM
The best solution is to provide jobs and also convenience in all social services so that automatically people can focus more on a better life and avoid all forms of risky actions such as gambling.
Gambling is already part of everyone's culture. Even if there will be jobs and things as such but if a person has already been a gambler, you can't remove that on him unless he's the one that's gonna remove it for himself. And the better the life, the easier the gambler will take it place that he can gamble without having a problem because win or lose, there's still money that's gonna flow on him based on the life that he's got and the job that he's working on.
Well, gambling cannot be avoided, in essence, it has become an old culture that is attached to one's life, especially now that gambling is easier without having to go to a traditional casino.
I agree with you that with a better life, he has a stable job, he will not be able to forget about gambling, especially by having enough finances, it will be easier to deposit to start gambling, so with an established job, it is not enough to stop gambling unless own desire to stop forever.

For me, as long as we don't cross the limits of our financial capabilities, there is no problem. Put it in the category of fun, not to make a living in gambling.

It's already passed down to generation to generation, there's even new gambling games that are popular locally or internationally like casino. As the thread concerns about its advertisement of course it would be affected from the specific place only but for sure the bitcointalk forum wouldn't be affected from it. Gambling especially new sites would needed ads for them to be introduced to its new customer or player. Since in the social media it would be easier to use ads to spread the word about the new casinos.
889  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: July 01, 2023, 12:38:21 AM
It's been  five months now. I am torn between using my emergency funds or selling some of my assets to cushion the effect of this economic situation. What do you suggest I do?

I would say that you should check first the potential of your asset, if your asset is giving you profit then don't sell it and better use your emergency fund since it can be replenished by the profit of your asset.  But, if your asset is just idling, and does not give you any profit then it is not bad idea if you sell them.  You can always buy the same asset once you have a better income in the future.

Yes, always double check what would be the outcome of the decision you will be making like you said. I think if you already have profit or you could say passive income, why not use it for investment since it's like a spare money. Don't forget that emergency funds is important for every happenings in life so just simply using it at risky scenario wouldn't be a good idea at all. If you're profiting enough just 50/50 it.
890  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do when you have Financial Freedom? on: June 30, 2023, 03:59:02 PM
Of course once I achieved almost everyone's aiming at life, I would start with managing my money first like make sure I have some investment for that financial freedom will last long. If it's assured that already, then I would start buying houses which could be useful to for me since it can be use for rental in case there's no occupant. Then slowly enjoy life with doing the things I love with the person who's with me even before achieving my success.
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto another form of gambling? on: June 30, 2023, 03:46:28 PM
Now, do you agree that crypto should be seen as a form of gambling? And if this eventually comes through, what should we expect as the constraints it might still bring to the crypto space?
No  I don't think so , because when you are going to invest on Cryptocurrencies industry then trading I.E. analysis skills does matter. On the others hand most the cases if anyone do gamble the. At first wining probability on gambling depends on luck even then some times in kind of sports bet skill can be used  but gambling is the thing all about luck .  So gambling and crypto investment completely different So to change this misconception among people I think we should increase awareness about this cryptocurrency.

You're exactly right, the thing is both money involve has risk that we're talking about, people might consider one as gambling but we couldn't even say that gambling could be considered as crypto right? Since the mechanics of both aren't the same the risk of crypto could be lessen as we increase the knowledge of one person to it. While for the gambling despite the skills and mental ability plus the decision making, you will still rely on luck. And indeed we should inform other people about this differences.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kids and Bitcoin on: June 29, 2023, 01:00:03 PM
There's no starting age in learning anything.
I can even recall kids in the news coding already and heck even I as a software developer that is older than 18 struggles to center a div. Cheesy /s

These kids are prodigy. It does not prove that any kid now can learn and start coding and become a software developer. Actually I think there are age gaps when it is easy to learn anything, and when it is super hard. Try teaching a toddler math and a senior new foreign language or skill. It will take much more time to achieve the result if not even be possible, compared to people aged 12-18 for example.

Sometimes it's from genetics or the environment of the kids itself. Imagine your father and mother involves in coding as they talk about at their house is about topics related to coding which can be adapted by kids and ask their parents to teach them at early age. Some literally born genius as they can easily understand and learn complicated things. Still you are right, it doesn't mean it's all applicable to any kids, if we are young we tend to easily remember things it's like our memories are fresh to remember such things that's why it would be easy to study as a kid than as an adult. Only difference is that adult are matured enough to make a decisions on their own than a kid.
893  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's Bitcoin trust worthy on: June 29, 2023, 05:08:50 AM
It's Bitcoin trust worthy for investment? Cus have tried many platform but all failed and this my last hope... I was introduced into it.

Nowadays there are no trustworthy assets to invest into, since even fiats are at a high risk of inflation.  As for trustworthiness of cryptocurrencies in comparison with the other assets... I suppose it's quite suitable for long-term hodling, and, in case of fiats inflation there is a chance to save money via crypto. However, there is just a chance, not guarantee, since in case of fiats inflation, cryptocurrencies can become cheap too.
Everything has risks, but it cannot be said that there are no assets worth trusting. If you don't trust bitcoin, why would you invest in it? Bitcoin is very reliable to invest but don't put all your trust in it but instead, always have a backup plan for yourself. Furthermore, if assets are compared to find the most trustworthy, then bitcoin can also be the most trusted asset because its decentralization provides the most fairness for everyone. When we have full control over our assets, it is truly a trusted asset.

True, if you're gonna put your money in centralized system and it happens to be a scam company then your assets would be in danger. Which is risky, where in Bitcoin controlled by it's user their funds since it's decentralized then for sure it would be consider much trustworthy. Only difference is that in centralized there are safety of the user as they have security. When it comes to decentralized, it's up to you if you funds would be loss at all but when it comes to security, you are anonymously having transactions. It just depends on the person whenever where he/she feel safe to put all their funds or to invest with, just do your own research to find your suitability and convenience.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 28, 2023, 04:39:54 PM
You are absolutely correct but let's not forget that what people are saying on the social media also have other hurtful agenda, if we can use social media to spread news about how wonderful Bitcoin investment can be, then we can also use this same social media to lure people into money traps and steal from them.

Instead of doing your own research on anything you decide to listen to people and make decision on what you are been told, it's the same way the media is brainwashing the masses, it's the same way religions are use to put millions of people in sleeping state where they don't know what's going on and yet same religion is the cause of major wars happening in the world since years ago.

The best advice I can give anyone is never make investment decisions based on what you are been told, learn to do your own research on your own, and remember that it's easier for bad actors to teach, they are doing it because it's favoring them one way or the other.

It's possible that they plan to use you.

Exactly, social media could be a good thing to spread news worldwide for everyone to get information. But it doesn't mean it would only aim for the good thing, of course there would be a negative effects as you've mentioned like scams. Plus if we could look into the new generation nowadays where they are already connected to media, I have observed their behavior which most of them are from the social media, it influence them to do things despite the age. It's the same way from the Bitcoin, if you're gonna follow something online despite the there's no fact check and having a background check then probably you could get scam. Good thing to do in situation like this is to invest to yourself with knowledge, we're knowledgeable enough to differentiate fake information by just the sources.
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey mistakes and moral lesson on: June 28, 2023, 03:20:59 PM
As a beginner we intend to ask for advices and tips from people who already have experience from specific field. In my case, despite self learning online and some tips that you could get from youtubers or vloggers, of course you would know someone who's already have experience just like in the Bitcoin and you will ask them something like the basic knowledge and their advice. From that, we all have different scenarios and time that couldn't apply the same techniques so of course I've lose some funds but it helps me to improve as I need to rely on myself on this one. But it's a win-win situation if you've earn or lose as it will take as a lesson for you to grow.
896  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: June 27, 2023, 06:16:40 PM
Food shortages have being a big problems in the global world today where tremedious things are happening people finds it difficult to buy food especially,
If you talk about food and climate of course it is a natural phenomenon that can make humanity starve and die, water is one of the sources of human life, without water what is on this earth can be destroyed, there is no way to do something to survive.

However, if you are talking about food shortages, of course it can still be overcome, because in that situation it still rains and other countries still have rice stocks etc., if that happens you can still take other alternatives, such as planting sweet potatoes, cassava, potatoes, because it's a plant that needs little water, for that you can still sell to other countries and produce an economy to buy rice, that's one way you can survive from a food shortage disaster.
You're touching the core of our species' inventiveness and adaptability. A food crisis doesn't mean a death knell, for our instinct to survive and the strides in technology can engineer solutions. Yet, your view is localized. Imagine a global scenario of food and water shortage? Frightening, yes, but not improbable with accelerating climate change.

In such circumstances, we need to delve into more than just alternatives like cassava. Our pondering should extend to vertical farming, hydroponics, lab-grown meat. Radical dietary shifts like consuming insects, a protein-rich and eco-friendly source, might be needed.

The thought of food scarcity is daunting, but our human nature is to evolve, invent, and endure. We've shown repeatedly that we can.

Well said, we humans learn from our mistakes and always find a way or solution to our problems for our own convenient. We've already reached this far where there's already existing technology which gives a high convenient to anyone. For sure we already have some other way to survive this kind of situation, and we're already aware of what we call "food shortage". So as you've given examples are some examples to survive this kind of situation as we can't control the climate change. There's already indoors farm that could actually grow plants which is edible.
897  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin high transaction fees is a disadvantage to small business owners on: June 26, 2023, 03:44:52 PM
I always make an effort to withhold my opinion regarding the use of Bitcoin transactions for goods and services when the market is rumored to be heading towards a bull phase. It's crucial to time your utilization of Bitcoin for transactions appropriately, but it's also important to note that you shouldn't engage in trading soon, as the primary objective is to accumulate.

The things is when there's a lot of transaction in bull or any day, it would be a hassle for the Bitcoin to use as transactions due to traffic of the process. It would be a good to use Bitcoin as an alternative mode of payment or transaction but there's also cons like that. And true if you're in a business you should plan to not engage in the market as you use Bitcoin for your business. It will just makes thing complicated and inconvenient.
898  Economy / Economics / Re: Look for what to invest, not what to eat on: June 26, 2023, 11:38:09 AM
Many people think that when they have income and money they will continue to try to spend it for pleasure, they don't think about investments that can be a helper when bad things happen, and we have to be able to control all expenses and of course have to invest even with a small amount.
If we just follow lust then it will never end so it is necessary to create awareness for ourselves,
limit spending on important things and we also need to invest our money for the future,
who clearly manages it all is so important and needs to be done.

It is the same with if your salary increases, your spending also increases. That is why it is better to have self-control, as we always have in mind that because we do have that money, we need to relax and buy those things, and we don't think about the future. That is really the opportunity to invest, as we do have spare money on it, so we need to make use of it. But it doesn't mean that we refrain from doing it, but we should prioritize investment over that unwanted stuff.

People could do things they like with their money it's up to them since we all have different lifestyle. But you can do 50/50 with your spare money so you could enjoy while having a secure financial in the future. 50% for the things you would like to buy and another 50% for the investment, if you used to this kind of lifestyle maybe you wouldn't notice you already have investment that could save you. If you're consistent enough you could change it to 30/70 something like that which gives you a lot of advantage in the future. Still note that the money you would put at investment still involves a risk. Which could become a win - win situation since you can gather experience from it.
899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks offering investing in Bitcoin on: June 26, 2023, 08:10:26 AM
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but when banks are involved with Bitcoin it always seems like an attempt of gaining some sort of control over it or push it to be more centralized in some way. And seeing more and more of them getting involved doesn't really comfort me.

You're probably overthinking it but just a little bit. Banks care first and foremost about profit, and this is what has led them to offer bitcoin trading and even custody services. They have seen that there is interest and a growing market and they want to participate in the market. Secondarily, I think they have also realised that what they were worried about at the beginning, the fact that bitcoin is something they cannot control, many people buy it and hold it in centralised entities, and they have decided to be one of those entities because then it is under their control, and not that of the client.

Exactly, of course they opened this project to aim for profits and benefits for them. They are aware of the convenience and opportunities Bitcoin could give to any individual so they tried to be opened as possible and welcome it in to the game. But I think it won't be long for them to give up this case since it would be too hard for them to handle a decentralized system maybe only thing they could do about it is to add fees and interest for their own good.
900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been threaten to stop gambling on: June 25, 2023, 03:59:57 PM
~ How about you have you been threatened by your wife, your girlfriend, or your parents, if so tell us your story.

For someone who is a responsible gambler there would be nothing much to tell. Relatives, wife or parents, wouldn't be threatening such a person, because would know that gambling is entertainment for him, and if he's working and making money with his job, he needs some fun too, needs it for relaxation, to do his job better and to earn even more money.

OP is talking and asking about those gamblers who are addicted and they do not care about their families. Usually, these people will give the first priority to gambling and for that, they may spend those funds on gambling which should have been spent on their family, wife, and children. If a person is a moderate gambler and plays for fun only with limited money, no one will objection his hobby but how can a family live with a person who spends everything on gambling and gives no money and benefit to his family?

It's not about treating and managing with an addictive gambler but it is more of a disappointment and hopelessness and eventually leaves a careless person alone forever who has no pain for the family.

Exactly, that's a threat that if the gambler doesn't quit gambling they would leave the person since gambling addiction is not actually good. It doesn't only affect the gambler itself but also the people from it's surrounding like his family. It's like due to gambling they loss at lot of funds to provide for the house or not having enough time for their family since they are gambling for almost 24 hours. For me, if threatening doesn't even work for them for sure they don't love you as they don't care for you but themsleves only
