November 13th I was trying to recover my account, but did not receive email.
I did not receive any notification about email change. I did not change email.

Have you ever used the same password for your e-mail account that you had been using in the past on this forum? (not including the password you set in June)... or have you always had different passwords on each?

New password for Bitcoin Forum

To clarify, June 5th, 2016  is when you changed the password?
(June 05, 2016, 07:28:36 PM - Odalv - password reset via email)

And I should assume this November 13th change was not you?
November 13, 2017, 01:12:40 PM - Odalv - password reset via email

... and should I also assume you did not get any notification about an e-mail address change on your account?
903  Other / Meta / Re: My account (Odalv) got hacked on: November 15, 2017, 06:53:36 PM
Hi, my account Odalv got hacked. My password was 9 chars long (letters and digits).

When was the last time you changed your password?

And can you sign a message from a prior used address?
904  Other / Meta / Re: Q: Should hilariousandco *really* be a moderator of bitcointalk A: no on: November 15, 2017, 09:31:21 AM
Trust ratings are not moderated, but that does not mean trust ratings can be given out for any reason without consequence. If feedback is being left for questionable reasons, and/or under questionable circumstances, then others will be reluctant to trust his opinions and other trust ratings. I disagree with the rating, and think it shows poor judgment, and I am posting that opinion.

I'm not sure what the questionable reasons and/or questionable circumstances in this case would be. It sounds like he had banned an account due to copy-pasting, which violates a rule that was put in place for a reason. Because he has the power to ban, this would be the first step, as it was, and shows that he has concerns with the account because he is banning it. An admin overruled the ban, but hilariousandco still doesn't trust the account, his next option as a DT member is to warn others about the shady activities of the account. Whether there is some sort of vindictiveness or ego behind the decision is speculation, the statement he gave as the reasoning implies to me that he was trying to help others by warning them of the account's activities since it had been unbanned, which I think is a legitimate use of the trust system.

I don't think it is so much that hilariousandco is a moderator, but rather that he is a moderator who advocated for certain action to be taken over an issue, was overruled, and left feedback over that same issue.

He didn't go back and re-ban the account, so his action as a moderator was overruled and accepted. I have no problem with someone expressing their opinion as a DT member after that. If a moderator cannot act as a DT member, why are they on DT?  If he had left feedback first, and then banned the account, would you have a different opinion here?

I guess my thought on the situation is that hilariousandco, if he was NOT a moderator, would have left feedback as a DT member stating the account was copying/pasting. Because he was a moderator, he banned because he has that authority, and Cyrus has the authority to overrule it... but hilariousandco still has the right as a DT member to leave feedback because of his personal concerns.

906  Other / Meta / Re: My Hero account, Joshuar is hacked and used by someone else, Please Ban it on: November 14, 2017, 06:55:20 PM
The account isn't overly active so I would expect Thursday to be fine but you will want to provide the signed message of an old posted address as proof that you are the original owner. I believe only theymos has access to IP logs and it would have to be a very unique IP address in order for this to come anywhere close to being accepted as proof. Most typical IP's are random and/or shared.

If you can sign the message, you have a chance at recovering the account by following this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0
Posting the signed message on this thread as well will allow DT members to tag the account to warn others.
907  Other / Meta / Re: My Hero account, Joshuar is hacked and used by someone else, Please Ban it on: November 14, 2017, 06:30:04 PM
Someone hacked my main account, Joshuar. You can check by the IP's. It's been used on the IP I'm using now, and which it was made on. As well as my post history which I can prove(I owned all those monero domain names and can show it while the hacker can't).

Please ban the account, Joshuar, since it's Hero and don't want the hacker scamming anyone on it

Do you still control this address: 1MYpNKj25HRBFpv22YpuZsuz2zZHKBLUur
And can you sign a message from it?

How do you go about showing when this was archived? I could photoshop and archive nearly anything.

I believe one would have to trust archive.org's cataloging system and that they didn't fake the date?  an image can be faked but I assume you'd have to have access to archive.org's DB to modify the date the page was archived?

Regardless, I don't think this is a legitimate or fully verifiable request... the message verifies but, for me, it's too coincidental for there to be one snapshot on archive.is for this profile with that address shown, especially when that address doesn't seem to be associated to the account before or after that day. Someone manually took a snapshot of the profile on archive.is on that day in April 2014, and there was never one before or after. My feeling is that this address cannot really be linked to the original owner.
910  Other / Meta / Re: Q: Should hilariousandco *really* be a moderator of bitcointalk A: no on: November 13, 2017, 04:20:29 PM
It looks like hilariousandco didn't like the decision of an admin and left trust against loan shark as a result:
Quote
User was previously permabanned for copy and pasting posts but let off by an admin due to his loaning service. Cheating campaigns and activity by copy and pasting is pretty scammy in itself but the loans are probably only being given to easily build up feedback. The two trusted feedbacks he currently has are merely for using an escrow service and an email forwarding service that he probably only purchased to acquire a cheap positive feedback. Was also infected with bitcoin stealing malware at one point from downloading pirated/cracked software: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1780068.0 so I would take all those factors into consideration when dealing with this user.

[reference in rating]

I am not sure it is right to be leaving negative ratings to get around authority limits as a moderator.

Officially, I don't think it would be relevant that hilariousandco is a moderator leaving feedback, he's just a DT member leaving feedback and would have every right to do so. Trust is not moderated, as I believe we've all heard plenty of times.

Whether it violates some sort of moral or ethical concern, shows insubordination, or causes some sort of conflict of interest may be the argument here but given hilariousandco's explanation of why the feedback was left, his thought process makes sense to me and I'd say the feedback is warranted. I'd probably say he's even warranted in leaving Cyrus a feedback questioning his judgement to unban someone due to a loan service they provide, if this is the sole reason... but that would be too much drama and probably not conducive to maintaining a somewhat professional demeanor amongst mods & admins. 911  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: OGNasty abuse of rank to ruin accounts in good standing on: November 11, 2017, 08:58:20 PM
The only thing you can do at this point is to petition the D1 users to exclude OG.
The Trust system works fairly well if the self policing works.

DT2 could also be petitioned to negate the feedback, assuming the DT2 member wanted to risk Og excluding them.  Huh

--snip--
It's entirely legitimate to give someone a new positive rating just to negate a negative rating. (In this case you should explicitly respond to the negative rating you're negating.) It is not legitimate to keep deleting and reposting negative ratings to put the system back into "this guy just turned scammer!" mode. People who do that shouldn't be trusted.

Was it multiple scam accusations getting bumped or just one?

I'm surprised Og wouldn't have removed the feedback if he concluded the account owner was in fact the original but maybe I'm misunderstanding his concerns with the account.

There will be further attempts, too much money and a lot of egos involved. Regardless, this was an interesting and educational series of events. Good show, Bitcoin.
Which is why we should never forget who the leaders of these takeovers were and never forget to call them out for them.

The exchange has been re-established, I haven't recovered all funds back at this point due to the tokenization, bitter sweet, but at least there is some sweetness and I feel a bit revived. I have not yet attempted a withdrawal but will update if any issues arise.
Btc-e, thank you for the effort!

I don't usually fall into stupidity but I blame it on the BIPs, they had me all fucked up in the head doing stupid shit with my coins. I'm still hopeful... good luck btc-e.

917  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by memvola on: August 01, 2017, 06:36:10 PM
Thanks for posting here.
Apparently the community you are referring to consists of immoral people, where making things straight is considered a stupid behaviour?
In that case, thank you - I will skip and keep up with my "stupidity" where the reputation one has is the most important.

Making things "straight" would be the original account owner staying on the account or letting this account die with the rest of the prior scammers. IMO, buying another persons virtual identity is immoral, unethical, and leans towards nefarious behavior, especially on this forum.

There is also a strong level of stupidity shown here by buying a virtual identity that is already tainted and has a bad reputation so I will assume you are new at this... it is probably best for you to stay away from this type of activity and avoid this in the future. Most sold accounts are going to be hacked, stolen, or involved in scams that haven't yet surfaced. Those accounts will not get any leniency from most active DT members, for many legitimate reasons, so it's not worth it.

IF this is not a scam ICO, it will get support without needing bought accounts or bounty hunters.

Google translate:
More detailed information about what happened to the BTC-e service.

On July 25, 11:00 the FBI staff came to the data center where our server equipment was located and seized all equipment, the servers contained databases and purses of our service.

Almost for 6 days we could not get from our hosting provider the sane information, what happened to our servers because of this information we publish only now.

July 28, the domain was confiscated.

To date, part of the service facility was arrested by the FBI

The next update will include information on what options are available to restore the service, and also the procedure for obtaining funds, in the event that the service is not started. In the current situation, if the service is not started before the end of August, then from September 1 we will start the process of refund.
In the next 1-2 weeks, we will evaluate and publish information about how much money fell into the hands of the FBI and what amount of funds is available for return.

For all those who buried us, I will remind you that the service has always worked on trust and we are ready to answer for it.
The funds will be returned to everyone!

Arrest of the Russian Vinnyk Alexandra:
Officially declare - Alexander was never the head or employee of our service.

Sincerely btc-e

PS In the subject write questions as far as possible we will respond to them.

If the site along with the servers and wallets have been seized, then I suspect that any funds on the site now belong to law enforcement.

Good luck to anyone trying to get that back, at least in the short term.

I'm remaining optimistic. If the servers & dns had been seized, I'm not sure why btc-e.com wouldn't have displayed a seizure notice when it happened. Obviously the rest of the group involved with btc-e still control the DNS, the funds I'm not sure of. I can only hope the funds are there waiting for them to re-establish the site. And I will keep hoping, even if you all will want to mock me.  Grin
