What about an AMC pre-order?  They have lots of Avalon chips on the way.

Virtual Mining Corporation is now taking pre-orders for its
Fast-Hash-80 80 GH/s Bitcoin Mining Machine.

www.virtualminingcorp.com

Fast-Hash-80 80GH/s Bitcoin 2013 Special 20% Off Special Good Thru 5/21/2013

BTC 68.00

Tons of expansion options too!

Hey iCEBREAKER. Happen to know if they have a confirmation date on receipt of those chips? Does anyone? This is not btw a rhetorical question. Smiley I'd expect Avalon to ship batch 3 prior to shipping their chips or there will likely be some unhappy customers.

I noticed from the pics on VMC's site that they have a standard PC IO on that unit, I wonder how there's room to house chips and cooling in there with a PC board(even mATX) as well. I wonder if there are pics of the unit open available?

Cheers.

I haven't confirmed their order with Avalon, but this seems legit:

Quote
SPRINGFIELD, MO, – May 28, 2013 – VMC a manufacturer of the Fast-Hash Bitcoin Mining Machines is announcing today that they have ordered (Order: #10409) a full batch (10,000) of Avalon chips to build ~29 Fast-Hash-80's for AMC should AMC provide the capital in the next few weeks, this would bring AMC machine total to 39 units. The 39 machines will bring the cooperatives hash power to 3,504,000 MH/s, 3,504 GH/s, or 3.504 TH/s. At the current Difficulty of 12,153,411.71 this will bring the estimated total revenue as of this writing to a total of $19,280.28 per day and a yearly amount of $5,398,450.75. AMC is a hybrid mining and development cooperative and a business unit of VMC.

Would publishing AMC's bitcoin address add transparency since we can see proof of purchase of Avalon chips, etc.

I think it would:  Here is the address we are holding bitcoins at to purchase the chips:  16yTynjmSe5bsRGykDaaCL5bm2pxiEfcqP

We would like to purchase a full batch as group purchases have a commission of about 9.5%

Where did the other 460BTC go?

We have already made deposits to VMC for machines and they have purchased Avalon chips in steamboats batch 1.

We will be posting on bitfunder a full accounting of the funds by the 15th of June for the month of May.
9142  Economy / Securities / Re: [Investment fund] Gamma Bitcoin Fund [Closing] on: May 28, 2013, 03:15:53 AM
10557.516 BTC has been paid out in total.
This is 46.3% above the closing value of the fund.
According to my calculations most people should have made a profit around 5-15% in BTC depending when you got into the fund and up to 60 times your USD investment (also dependent on when you invested).
All in all, I would like to say that this was a happy story Smiley
Thank you all for the trust,
Thank you for understanding all the delays,
Thank you for forgiving my mistakes and letting me learn,
Thank you for knowledge and experience you have given me.

Overall this has been a great journey for me, I have learnt a lot and gotten to know a lot of people, of which some I am now close friends with.
Even though this chapter of my Bitcoin journey is over, a next one begins.
On the 7th of June I will be going over to 100% Bitcoin as the school term finishes.
I have already gotten some work offers but if you have some cool project you want to share, or some cool projects you think I could help with then please contact me!

Best Regards
Ludvig

It had a very electric taste to it and really hit the spot.

Thanks again iCEBREAKER

9144  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 26, 2013, 10:53:30 PM
If friedcat has a surplus of ASIC hardware that can not be deployed for bitcoin mining, then why not mine another sha256 altcoin (can can not be merge mined) like PPC?

The PPC proceeds can easily be converted into BTC on exchanges like BTC-e.

Look at the volumes on BTC-e. Then try to calculate the revenues, also take a look at the market cap of PPC on Dustoin (about 28.289 BTC right now). Then crunch these numbers, and see how unsustainable doing this would be. After 24 hours, expect PPC exchange rate to plummet on a 1:10 scale at best...

So, interesting idea, but not a sustainable one.

This is a great idea!  Getting a major source of steady hashpower like AM would provide a lot of security and validation (PR) to PPC.

We must not treat the altcoins like delicate flowers.  Like their mother, they benefit from added exposure and network capacity.

Of course there would be some increased volatility as the market adjusts to the new situation, but that's hardly a reason to ignore this opportunity for expansion.

We've seen the price of every coin rise in proportion to difficulty, because the more secure they are the more actual and potential value their networks represent.

Free shipping united states

Sony MDRX10, Red And Black $170

5% Rebate when you give a review of our products

Very fast delivery and good communication.

Phones shrink wrapped NIB as promised.

Could have used some peanuts or newspaper in the shipping box.

Gobs of sloppy, chuffy, boomy, vastly overstated bass!    Cheesy

They sound like crap for some songs and brilliant for others, exactly as the reviews stated.

Extremely comfortable.

Recommended for dubstep/trap/reggae/dub/dancehall/jungle/2step.  Not recommended for opera/classical/country.   Tongue

+1 for lepenguin

Update: they sound much better having been burned in, as suggested by a reviewer.  Two days of Orb (Terrarium), two days of grimy dubstep, two days of Ravi Shankar, and a final day back on Orb did wonders for the tonal balance and sound stage.

Update to Update:  got sick of the crappy phone sound and dug up an iRiver LPlayer I never even opened.

Played with the EQ settings for a few hours.  Left the bass at halfway.  Pushed mid and treble up to one notch below max.

Sony MDRX10s now sound fantastic in all genres.  Even challenging classical piano tinkles and plonks and bongs correctly.

/happy camper   Cool

Invest about 20% in each of these Bitfunder assets:

DMC, MININGCO, G.ASICMINER-PT, CRYPTO.LTC, AMC

That's what I'm doing and it's working great so far!

9152  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 21, 2013, 12:57:34 AM
Solo mining provides

1) No operator fees
2) All transaction fees (which have been consistently rising since Bitcoin started)
3) Less risk from pool owner trust
4) Less risk from pool downtime and DDOS attacks

At a cost of
1) More variance (who cares when you have significant hash power)
and
2) No merged mining.  This is important because, according to Dustcoin, Namecoin currently adds 6.42% (BTC60.6 or $7410.17 a day) to 21TH of mining.

That's not chump change; perhaps Friedcat can buy merged mining software from Dr. Haribo or doublec.

the same question again and again
why we should care ?

Of course we should care. He's the Messiah and unless we find his other scrolls we will never be able to pin down a date for the rapture.

Satoshi published an autobiography, but nobody on Earth can decipher it.   Tongue

The giant BTC1.7 ask wall for G.AM-PT is gone.  Good news for Gamma shareholders!

Not a lot of resistance until we hit the BTC2 ceiling (*evil Mr. Burns laugh*).

Friedcat should do daily updates.  We want to know how he slept, what he had for breakfast, where he's going, who he's meeting, etc.  Give the man some Google glasses!   Cool

I`m still relatively new here, but this is thus far one of the most epic argument threads I have seen.

Woot!  Thanks.  That's high praise considering This. Is.  B I T C O I N T A L K, the epicenter of all Internet Nerd Drama.   Cheesy

dubious metallic potions

The oligodynamic effect has been established science since 1893.  Source: v. Nägeli K.W. 1893. Über oligodynamische Erscheinungen in lebenden Zellen. Neue Denkschr. Allgemein. Schweiz. Gesellsch. Ges. Naturweiss. Bd XXXIII Abt 1.

Rolling your eyes and indulging in unjustified snark only make you a doubting Thomas, not cool or insightful.

Neither the rudeness nor the condescension are necessary.
I'll consider that a mea culpa for your "dubious potion" wisecrack.   Wink

Snide condescension doesn't support the idea that you`re enlightened

OK, OK.  We forgive your previous misbehavior.  No need to keep apologizing and beating yourself up for it.  Let's move on, as pals.  Cool
9158  Economy / Goods / Re: 750ml Colloidal Silver - $29 shipped on: May 16, 2013, 10:31:34 PM
I'm kind of surprised you believe in the science of colloidal silver and not homeopathy.

Your surprise is entirely the result of your ignorance and subsequent flawed premises.  Chief among them being that the oligodynamic effect and homeopathy are related, and not entirely separate, phenomena.

Here, I'll be altruistic and provide you with a clue:

Quote
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oligodynamic_effect

The oligodynamic effect (Greek: oligos = few, Greek: dynamis = force) was discovered in 1893 by the Swiss Karl Wilhelm von Nägeli as a toxic effect of metal ions on living cells, algae, molds, spores, fungi, viruses, prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms, even in relatively low concentrations.

The exact mechanism of action is still unknown.  Data from silver suggest that these ions denature enzymes of the target cell or organism by binding to reactive groups, resulting in their precipitation and inactivation.  Silver inactivates enzymes by reacting with the thiol groups to form silver sulfides.  Silver also reacts with the amino-, carboxyl-, phosphate-, and imidazole-groups and diminish the activities of lactate dehydrogenase and glutathione peroxidase.

Silver is capable of rendering stored drinking water potable for several months. For this reason, water tanks on ships and airplanes are often "silvered".  Silver compounds such as silver sulfadiazine are used externally in wound and burn treatments.[5] Silver nanoparticles, obtained by irradiating a silver nitrate solution with an electron beam, are effective bactericides, destroying gram-negative species immune to conventional antibacterial agents.  Silver-coated medical implants and devices have been shown to be more resistant to biofilm formation.

Now you have no excuse to continue laboring under the false belief that colloidal silver has anything whatsoever to do with homeopathy (or Cisplatin).

Thank you for your interest in Sacred Silver, the only colloidal silver produced exclusively for the Bitcoin community!

My business partners and I were just talking about beer pairings! We are definately going to do something with pairings soon. Either an article or a special section. Is there any beer pairing content in particular that you'd be I retested in? For instance, recipes with hot sauce and beer pairings, beer pairings in the descriptions, it's own section, how to pair beers with sauces, all of the above... Smiley

How about listing 1-5 suggested beer pairings (by brand and/or type) for each sauce and an introductory article explaining the logic behind them?

This process could be automated by tagging your sauces (savory, smokey, sweet, tart, fruity, painful, etc.) and doing a lookup against an existing database of beer (BA or Ratebeer's).  You'd have to write the matching algorithm (If [hot=true and savory=false] Then [suggest=Pilsner]).

You could get fancy and have a reverse search too, so we can look up which hot sauce to get according to what beer we have/like.

*clicks 'Beer -> Sauce search'*
*clicks 'Stone Brewery' logo*
*selects 'IPA' from dropdown menu*
*enjoys expertly selected salsa pairing perfectly*

Could you commission a vendor to create a Bitcoin-only "Satoshi's Secret Sauce?"  I'm thinking that would be a souped-up Sriracha with grilled pineapple/pluot instead of sugar, less garlic, Scotch Bonnet, a pinch of celery seed and fresh cilantro, plus a shot of tequila and a splash of single malt.   Grin
