On the premining bit - here is my $0.02
Premined is such a taboo word here. Premine = Scamcoin is pretty much everyone's opinion.
I have no issue with premining as long as the devs are up front about it. Many of them are, and premine a small percentage of coins to use for bounties, giveaways and other promotions. I'm totally fine with this, again, as long as they disclose this in the official coin announcement. Because you know for damn sure the first person to download the wallet/source is gonna check and yell SCAM! if coins were premined and not disclosed.
Most folks are REALLY, REALLY against the devs taking any premine for themselves. I'm a little conflicted about this. For a coin to be successful it needs some dedicated devs and without at least a pocketfull of their own coins to cash in on, exactly what incentive do they have to continue developing/promoting the coin? If they came up with the idea, developed the coin, and it becomes wildly successful why shouldn't they make some cash? Indeed, 10% or 20% is pretty excessive but what's wrong with taking a 1% premine for yourself?

The more AltCoins we have, the lower in value they all become.
Outside of Litecoin and Primecoin, I don't believe AltCoins are bringing many new people to the CryptoCurrency world. They are just spreading out existing market value thinner and thinner. More harm than good.

How about no new threads in the Announcements section until you have at least 50 post count? I've noticed the vast majority of new coins are coming from people with less than 5 (basically, just out of Newbie jail).
If we could somehow limit this to one per week that would at least get the volume down to something more reasonable. (Once a month would be even better.)
Maybe we shutdown the Announcements section entirely for forum members and only mods can post there. Devs submit coin ideas, we do a weekly poll and let the community vote on which ones get "released."

There is no buyers thats what people fail to realize how can it spike after dump if no one is buying the dump. the coin is worth no more than .00000008 at the moment. Because no one want to take a chance on a drop at.11 because if it drop even .1 it will drop over 10%
Miners are dumping like crazy right now, most of them foolishly, all they are seeling is $$ (or ฿฿ I suppose). The sell list was enormous within an hour . . . instead of buyers coming up to meet the sellers, the sellers just kept pushing down. Dev has been a ghost on these forums for the past 2-3 days at least (no offense to Lonestar108 - he seems very devoted, but he has been absent lately), logo is undecided, not much promotion being done.... in my opinion this coin hit the exchange about a week too early. Give it time, now is a great time to buy. |

Yeah haven't heard from the dev in several days. Hopefully he's still interested.
Personally I think a MEOW/LTC pair would have been better for this coin . . . at current prices (0.00000011 BTC) it is a risky investment. One tiny point up or down means 10% gain or loss.

Anyway, The site doesnt have a graph of the sales showing closing proces and volume? No display of the previous sales? You don't have to sign up, basically, it just uses your Google account. In the case of MEOW there are no previous sales to report, since the market just opened like 15 minutes ago. If you're looking for a "live feed" of recent buy/sell orders unfortunately they do not have that. They send hourly market data to CryptoCoinCharts.info and that is where their market history data comes from. Other than the lack of live buy/sell transactions, it's actually a really solid site. Thanks for the info. I can't tell if my browser isn't displaying a chart or not. There are two blank squares above the buy/sell box. A smaller square above and a larger square to0 the upper left of the buy/sell box. Both are totally blank. Which browser are you using? Firefox - small shield in top-right corner, next to address bar, click this and choose to load "insecure content" (or something like that, can't remember the exact phrase Chrome - also small shield in top-right corner, next to address bar, click this and choose "load unsafe script" Internet Explorer - I think it should have a yellow bar across the top or bottom that says something about this site contains unsecure content, choose "Show all content" |

Having Bitcoin in scrypt is important. Bitcoin needs to be knocked off its pedestal for being 1) a currency held in majority by feds 2) cozying up to coinvalidation and whining about non-monetary uses like IOUs or barter.
Only speculators and trollbox wankers want fast times. Retarget should always return to 2016.
I could not disagree more. Bitcoin in scrypt is unimportant. There is a reason why no other coin since Bitcoin has used a difficulty adjustment timespan as large as Bitcoin's - it sucks. The only reason everyone puts up with it is because BTC are worth $800. |

The "Bitcoin clone" status is unimportant. There is a reason why 10-minute block times and 2016-block difficulty retargets have not been used. They don't work.
This worked a couple years ago when there wasn't as many people mining, but the mining scene has changed. There is 2,000x as much (maybe more) worldwide hashpower available now as there was a year ago and miners are fickle. Network hashrates increasing/decreasing by 100x over the course of hours is totally normal, and a week-long (or longer) difficulty retarget simply doesn't work anymore.

No, they are only closing TIPS/BTC. This coin is too worthless to purchase in BTC. LTC is ~30x cheaper than LTC, so if price falls much below 0.00000030LTC, you can buy at LTC price and guarantee profit by selling at the cheapest BTC price possible which is 0.00000001.
That is why there are 23BTC worth of sell orders at 0.00000001 on TIPS/BTC. These people purchased at probably close to 0.00000015 LTC, and are now shooting for a quick 100% profit by selling at rock-bottom BTC price of 0.00000001 BTC

Personally... i am fine with not getting on an exchange right now... difficulty is low so am stocking up on meows..
Also the wallet hasn't been updated yet, right? so i wouldn't suggest we try an exchange till that's settled..and that likely wont be settled till we get the LOGO contest down..
I would however advice a Viral Campaign immediately after the wallet update.. on the par of and beyond doge.. a viral campaign with a reefer smoking cat will fail.. doge was cute.. so it pretty much was accessible to everyone and anyone..
I agree, promotion is key, we need to get the logo decided first. I will happily donate some MEOW to promotion campaigns. MEOW vs. CAT debate is over . . . Would you mind sharing which pool you are connecting to?
I seriously doubt your video card is reaching 300MH/s, probably more like 300KH/s (KILOhash, not MEGAhash). Sometimes the pool operator messes up the labels on the display, it's also easy to overlook the labels.
Also, your confirmed and unconfirmed balances are not always displayed in real-time. Give it an hour or two, they should update.
