941  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Death Penalty for Drug Smuggler on: January 30, 2015, 07:18:35 AM
Killing drug smugglers not in immediate self-defense just raises the premium on drugs. Suppliers and dealers get richer, users get poorer.

Very smart analysis about why this can't ever work besides any moral, just like prohibitionism.

And, by the way, if your kids becomes drug addicted don't blame the pusher and expecially don't ask the state to kill him, taking your role as a father will do much more.

I agree with you both, yet still hold my position.

People don't seem to get that  the vast majority of drug users are normal people who just take drugs now en then and have a functionally life, sometimes even kids. Not everybody walks around with a needle in his arm.... again, less then 3% of people develop a problem, yet over 25% of people have trouble either with food intake or alcohol..... If you feel lik eevery drug user is a junky, governments have succeeded in their propaganda and criminalizing substance taking.... Which is as old as cavemen, maybe even older then the oldest profession Wink

I've known enough people that snorted and/or smoked cocaine and/or heroin to know it's not the end of the world for them at that stage. They can even lead relatively normal lives. (I've even been there myself.) I've also seen what happens to people once they get into using needles. All of them were severely dysfunctional and I've never seen anyone come back from it, although I'm sure even that's possible, just extremely unlikely. Those lives were destroyed and I'd hate to see that happen to anyone, especially someone I care for. So, from personal experience I can tell you, it's not an easy thing to recover from once you head down that road, and at some point (like when you use needles) it's basically impossible. Sure excessive eating, drinking alcohol, even too much sex can become a serious problem, but I promise you, dealing with those addictions are child's play compared to coke or heroin. I'm also 99.99% positive you won't find anyone who mainlines either drug posting in this or any other forum for that matter, however I'm quite confident you'll find plenty who do like the smell of coke here. Wink

Btw, cocaine or heroin was definitely NOT being used by cavemen. The average coca leaf contains from 0.5 to 1 % of the alkaloid cocaine, so chewing on the leaves of coca plants, which actually has some health benefits and is what South American indigenous peoples have been doing for over a thousand years, has far less potency and is not even remotely comparable to using the now common powdered form of cocaine, regardless of which method you choose.

Drug use commonly speaking is as old as the caveman, that you state that cocaine wasn't available, uuuuhm, duh, what kerosine or benzine to produce right Wink You state a few misconceptions, alcohol and legal prescription kill far more and addict far more people then illigal drugs will ever will. Also criminalizing causes more addiction... every recent survey has shown that the countries who don't criminalize but damage reduce have far less addiction problems then say America, where you can get life for a couple of grams in some regions if it's your third time. Locking someone up for life for drug use is retarded and a violation of human rights.... same as killing people for it...

This is a total violation of human rights, the fact that you wish someone dead for drugs, disgusting.....

Sure it sounds harsh from a strictly academic point of view, but you may think differently if some drug dealer was trying to get your kids hooked on crack or heroin.

Tryin to get your kid hooked on crack and heroin, those are the two most extreme drugs. Alot of people get killed for alot less, a substance is a substance, choices are choices, but a human life is much more worth then that.

The execution in Indonesia of six death row prisoners early last Sunday, including five foreigners,
convicted of drug smuggling and the refusal by president Joko Widodo to grant clemency from the death penalty
for Myuran Sukumaran has cast into sharp relief his likely fate and that of fellow death row prisoner Andrew Chan.

I agree, drug smuggler must be punish and receive death penalty.

But some of country , there are some controversy about death penalty as a punishment.
So what do you think about it ? Is it right decision to punish them with death penalty or they deserve remission ?

This is a total violation of human rights, the fact that you wish someone dead for drugs, disgusting.....
947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USA just released a digital currency white paper. Wonder where they got the idea on: January 29, 2015, 04:55:11 PM
This document just came out 2 days ago from the US governmental body EFTA (Electronic Funds Transfer Association):

http://efta.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/strategies-improving-us-payment-system.pdf

What's funny is if you search for the terms "bitcoin" or "blockchain" you don't find a single instance in the entire document.

But the document is so obviously created to mirror a bitcoin-like or ripple-like technology.

The clearly intentional lack of mentioning bitcoin (or any other existing cryptocurrency for that matter) when it's so obviously borrowing the ideas seems to indicate they feel threatened. Otherwise they would be crediting it properly, even if just in reference to their idea.

It seems like they want to feel that they are creating something new that will outdo Bitcoin and then take full credit for it. THAT I'd love to see.

By the time they have any sort of working implementation (which I doubt they ever will), bitcoin will be so widely adopted that their system will be utterly ignored and useless.

Here's a paragraph from their document. It reminds me of satoshi's white paper in 2008. Lol:

Quote
The Federal Reserve believes that the U.S. payment system is at a critical juncture in its evolution. Technology is rapidly changing many elements that support the payment process. High-speed data networks are becoming ubiquitous, computing devices are becoming more sophisticated and mobile, and information is increasingly processed in real time. These capabilities are changing the nature of commerce and end-user expectations for payment services. Meanwhile, payment security and the protection of sensitive data, which are foundational to public confidence in any payment system, are challenged by dynamic, persistent and rapidly escalating threats. Finally, an increasing number of U.S. citizens and businesses routinely transfer value across borders and demand better payment options to swiftly and efficiently do so.

This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: "There are those who can see trends coming in advance... and those who chase the trends."

Don't underestimate the stupidity of sheeps, once a bank launches it, it must be SAFE, SADLY MOST PEOPLE THINK THIS WAY, FLUORIDE IS REALLY DOING THE TRICK Wink I think that this will be the bggest threat to bitcoin, mass adaption has failed untill this day, and it will be a fierce competitor if government launches it, because hey it's government, so it's legal.....

Enough already. You are beating a dead horse.

You want to go on complaining - take it to Robbert. He started the whole thing and he killed it. We were all fooled. Get off my dick about it. I'm already upset about being tricked and upset about spending money to repair what turns out to have been a fucking scam.

Directing your continually misplaced anger at me is annoying on a normal day. You are missing so much information that I've uncovered at a high cost. So, leave it alone and/or go fuck yourself.

Alec can say it. Communication was supposed to be his job since before my time here. Every time I post something, you all twist or manipulate my words. You all put blame on me for things that happened before me. Remember or go look in the original thread - the former devs dropped it because something underhanded was going on. Nothing underhanded ever happened while I've been here. I finally put enough pieces together today (with some investigation done with the help of others) to conclude that it's dead. It's been dead. They knew it. We didn't.

End of saga. No sequel.

So you can say nothing new to communicate in the official thread, but the fact that you declare this coin dead is nothing new, what a strange person you remain to be  Roll Eyes

Stop.

I didn't know at the beginning. I honestly believed it could be done, and wanted to help NOT leave people hanging. I spent money on trying to fix this. All a waste.

I'm not arrogant. I got tired of my words being twisted and tired of everyone demanding that things be done instantly, when the fix appeared to be several months in process. Turns out, there's no fix. If I'd known the truth at the time, I never would have touched this.

Don't anyone bother directing any more communication to me. It's over.

Nope. It was frustrating over the holiday. It became clearly evident TODAY that LTCD is dead and worthless. I posted the moment I found out.

An official announcement will be made by Alec if he ever gets off his ass. Otherwise, you'll have to suffer with one last post from me.

My attitude was fine early on. You shitheads are what ruined my optimistic outlook. The overall bad situation with LTCD before being left by the previous devs was so far gone that they didn't want to pursue it anymore. 2 months later, now I know why. Every one of us was duped, all along. You, the other members of the community, and me.

LTCD died in November. LTCD is officially dead today. Nothing more to discuss. No complaining or bitching will change that.

Sell.

I gave it my best shot. I got hostile with the trolls. People said I should just shut up. I tried that. But now people want me to say something. Well, here's what I'm saying.

I tried to recover LTCD and have it made into what it was supposed to be with no corruption or manipulation or scammery involved. I was not successful. The only way forward is through crookery which I will not be a part of.

Coders haven't provided anything they committed to. Current condition is abysmal. It will take more than 1 person to get it straightened out. I can't get enough honest people to make it happen. It looks like it wouldn't be worth the effort, anymore.

Sell.

A bit late right..... I think you knew this allready for quite some time. You got hostile with me too, and I'm no troll but a supporter Sad You say nothing new to post in the official thread, yet you advice me here to sell, which is it?!

Maybe your attitude also deturred anyone willing to help....

If you told us the truth from the beginning, the end result might have been different. Your arrogant cost this coin

Say that in the official thread then.....

952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][2] Developments & Discussions on: January 29, 2015, 08:23:03 AM
Can someone explain me how will mjpay working?
and how many growers will be include in this kind of selling via CANN, btw how big is potencial of cann-growers in kilos?
Are there exist so many medical cann users if we reject farmaco ind.?
Legal issues?
How authorities will react or not? i don't understand whole mechanism of CANN
One good PDF with lots of answers , explanations in details and update in OP will blow this up..also Pictures are more then welcome.
For me one good post with mechanics of CANN will help
Im looking at this one as a great potencial so please illuminate me!
Thanks! Smiley

As far as I know mjpay is a web wallet but it has not yet been launched yet.

As far as mmj use goes, Arizona mmj patients went through more than 9 tons of the stuff last year, see here, tripling from the previous year link.

Are there enough growers? Of course, growers will fill the market, as they do for any commodity.

Are you going to get a razzle-dazzle promotional brochure or anything else? I doubt it, because the Feds don't recognize States rights to make their own cannabis laws.

Certainly CANN has great potential because ∆9 is a man on a mission. He WILL deliver high-quality meds to mmj patients at a reasonable price and he has delivered a rock-solid coin. He has already demonstrated proof of concept with one dispensary currently honoring the CANN peg, he is drawing in more growers to the movement and establishing more grows, mixed commercial and CANNdy facilities and one pure CANNdy facility. Looks like he is expanding into Colorado too. What's not to like?

The one thing people have to avoid is expecting ∆9 to make them rich by yesterday. Wading through the labyrinthine regulatory barriers, establishing grows, finding the best candidate varieties for location and desired attributes, propagating, distributing to other growers, actually growing the crops, drying, testing and distributing the product takes time and lots of it.

CannabisCoin positively screams 'potential' but it is a long-term thing, operating on timescales far removed from run-of-the-mill crypto pump-and-dumpers. If you choose to buy in then friend, welcome to the Yes We CANN! community Smiley If you'd rather not then that's fine too, no one is going to coerce you to buy.

It is indeed alot to grasp, a short & simnple pfd file would be advisable Smiley. Am a supporter of this coin, eventhoughI bought at it's peak and now is 1/5 of the value I purchased them for Sad

955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / New DEV TEAM for LTCD? Litecoindark developer? on: January 29, 2015, 07:18:58 AM
Hey fellow altcoiners,

When LTCD started the buzz was very exciting, straight away a big active community. After 1,5 month a new dev took over, who was skilled at coding, yet not at communication. Since there's quite a infrastructure and still a community left, come on look at the name, I was wondering if there weren't any wizzkids willing to take over this coin and lead it to succes, or at least a decent 2.0 code Smiley

Post away!!

957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Unofficial) Litecoindark Thread (LTCD Dead) on: January 28, 2015, 01:53:14 PM
Ok, having read most of the threads for LTCD over the past months, I'm going to have my 2 penneth, I reckon the amount of the stuff I own allows me to do that. Since no-one can post on the official thread, I'll do it here.

Point 1 - Attitude.

Being the dev of a coin, especially one that's had problems and one which needs reviving, requires a certain amount of man management skills, which are obviously missing from vics armoury. Vic, whatever drives you to develop this coin, you need to realise that all this "agressive defense" you are offering, be that on the official thread or on here is misplaced. You need to listen to every single concern, be that abusive or positive, and take every scrap of information from it. To reply to every critism as though someones just insulted your own family is just not the right thing to do.
When you took over this coin, people had really high hopes for what you were doing, and your enthusiasm for the same. Now, it's hard to see anything in you other than some sort of power crazed zealot who thinks he can dictate every single aspect of the coins new development. I have at certain times in the past seen this behaviour stem from someone who is just so passionate about what they're trying to do, and working so hard that they see every comment as a critism. Vic - if this is you, I would emplore you to get someone to speak for you on these forums. Someone who can take a comment like "you're all dicks and there's nothing happening with LTCD" and reply with something like "thanks for your comments, I can assure you our development team is working very hard and we hope to have an announcement by the end of next week reference our next stage of developement. Please feel free to return to this post and give us a hurry up should you not see that announcement at the appropriate time." If it's a genuine query, you've just earned some "points". If it's an idiot, you've not lowered yourself to their standards, but still fully answered their question. Come on Vic - we're all looking for true leadership from you, not the ability to get into abusive scraps on a forum.

Point 2 - Community.

This is the key one if the coin is going to survive. Someone made a point in a previous thread that the coin is not the dev, it's the community. Absolutely bang on. But when a new dev takes on a coin, especially one with issues, the absolute, definate, solo, first thing they need to do, is bring the whole community on the journey with them. This means transparency, honesty, constant quality communication, having the ability to listen (see above), and basically being the figurehhead for a huge amount of people who have invested in this coin and want it to rebound. You have simply got to engage everyone with a view, so that we all travel together on this. If you fragment the community, you will fragment the coins very support, and it will surely die.

I know about this stuff Vic, and whilst I thought I saw good intentions in you in late 2014, they won't be enough to turn this around on their own.

Take on board some of the above if you want, or ignore it. It's certainly not meant as a critism, but you'll see what you'll see.

Love & snuggles....

That was me Smiley My thoughts exactly, only your words much better then mine, feel like taking up PR for LTCD, if Vic lets you? Grin

i've been watching this youtube channel for a few months. it's mostly about current events. but he also makes alot of references to the new world order and the end of days in the bible. i am not religious. but i must admit he does a really good job at relating the bible to current events. his latest video throws up ezekiel 38-39 which says iran and a coalition of other countries will attack israel. after that he shows a video of russia and iran signing a military cooperation agreement a few days ago. again, i am not religious. but i have seen quite a few references about the end of days mentioned in the bible that have a very strong connection to current events. with the current state of the world and all the fucked up shit going on it doesn't take a wild imagination to consider our time might be coming to an end.

https://www.youtube.com/user/NoLife127/videos

Alot of Biblical events are methaphoric, and can be extropelated to current events, look at nostradamus, same thing....
