That's like saying gold is backed by the effort (energy, work) needed to find and dig it out of the ground. That's not how "backing" works. With a "backing", you can exchange it back for the stuff. For example: when the USD was still backed by gold, you could exchange your dollars for the gold they were backed by. I think what you're really saying is: at least btcs are scarce. That alone doesn't effect value, though. What you ultimately need is someone in the future to value btc. In that sense (to say it drastically): Bitcoin is backed by bigger idiots. (I don't think that's a bad thing). |

I didn't opened my wallet for a long time and I have some coins, if I update to the last version of wallet and move my dat file everything will be alright?

you should be fine, just update and start with the old wallet.dat in place. Please make a backup copy of it just to be safe, though. |

Du hast eine 0 vergessen. Lol. Ist von euch eigentlich jemand dabei, wenn Bitcoin 1000$ für mindestens einen Monat erreicht, auf den Dächern von Frankfurts Banken zu tanzen? Bzw steht die "When Bitcoin reaches 1000$ Party" überhaupt noch? War immer bisher zurückhaltend, was den Kauf eines Tickets angeht. War mir nicht sicher, ob sich da nicht nur einer die Taschen vollstopft. Und dann kommen alle an und dann so, "Party? Hier ist keine Party. Geh wieder nach hause, Junge!" ^^ Ich glaube 600Watt war einer der Organisatoren. Da hat sich niemand die Taschen vollgestopft. Er hat alle Eintrittsgelder zurückgegeben (minus freiwillige Spenden) und die Party vorerst abgesagt. Wäre jederzeit wieder dabei! |

The poll shows that most bitcoiners expect an increase to $1000 at the end of this month, and perhaps it's a good time to become optimistic despite my usual skepticism.  you know, when people are out on the streets happily roaming about wearing sunglasses and flipflops because the sky is blue, it can be hard to imagine rainfall and cold air. EDIT: I read a lot of "I'm all in", "finally bought back today" comments here. That makes me think we could well have a sizable correction this weekend. On the other hand: mass-media hype has just started. There's a huge delay for "normal folk" to "get in". Could have more legs, too. Maybe both. Where is the media hype? I don't watch TV so I legitimately don't know and would appreciate examples. I don't mean TV. But we see a lot of articles in "mainstream" (non-bitcoin) online news. It's still mainly (but not only) financial-bias outlets, of course. Not "the big one". |

der HF scheint vom tisch zu sein. eventuell auch weil nicht alle Core entwickler an der runde mit den chinesischen minern teilgenommen hatten und sie es damit als nicht verbindlich ansehen. https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/4ma3gh/whats_the_current_status_of_cores_2mb_hf/d3tto83es wird spannend werden. eventuell schiessen sich die chinesen selber ab. die nodes werden es entscheiden. EDIT: meine einschätzung: es wird niemals einen HF geben solange Bitcoin gesund ist. ein HF wird das ende von Bitcoin einläuten. Was verstehst den unter gesund bei Bitcoin? Wenn man sich den durchschnittlichen Füllstand der Blöcke annsieht schaut das nicht soo gesund aus, wenn man bedenkt, dass täglich neue Nutzer hinzukommen sollen. Ist ja auch nicht so, dass es bei Bitcoin noch nie einen Hardfork gegeben hätte. Die ideale Lösung wäre für mich 2MB Blockgrößenerhöhung und Segwit. Was müsste man den tun um einen 2MB Block zu erzeugen, der durch einen hohen Verifikationsaufwand das Netzwerk lahmlegt? Welcher Miner hätte daran Interesse? gesund ist alles was der markt selber regeln kann ohne incident. lass erstmal segwit aktiviert sein und lightning wird auch genutzt. dann braucht man keine blockgrössen-limit-anhebung. im gegenteil, ich würde auf 0,5 MB verringern. EDIT: auf 0,5 MB veringern weil die fees langfristig die block rewards ersetzen müssen/sollten. das ist die ökonomische annahme von satoshi gewesen.Dass die fees den reward ersetzen: ja. Dass es durch steigen der fees (pro tx) anstatt durch steigen der Transaktionszahlen geschehen soll hat er sicher nicht gesagt. Ansonsten würde ich dich um einen Beleg bitten. Ansonsten gilt für mich, daß das blocksize limit als temporär gedacht war: It can be phased in, like:
if (blocknumber > 115000)
maxblocksize = largerlimit
It can start being in versions way ahead, so by the time it reaches that block number and goes into effect, the older versions that don't have it are already obsolete.
When we're near the cutoff block number, I can put an alert to old versions to make sure they know they have to upgrade.

Die meisten Infos die da rauskommen sind auch für mich neu. Ich finde vor allem die Art und Weise und die Tatsache, daß die Kerlchen da ihre Rechtsstreitigkeiten öffentlich diskutieren sehr amüsant. Zumal es sich ja um - ich sag's mal so - 'wichtige Figuren' auf dem crypto-schachbrett handelt. |

There is an overlap of purpose, though: "be the one sound money". Might not be proclaimed (esp. by eth), but this purpose exists at least for some players. |

How much privacy do you give up by using the website myTrezor.com to store your bitcoins?
Can the owners / webmaster of myTrezor.com see how many bitcoins you have? Your bitcoin addresses?
Just to make sure you know there are alternatives: other wallets (like electrum, mycelium and probably more) offer trezor support. Not to say they have less privacy concerns, but at least with electrum, you have a choice of server and everybody can run one. |
