You might want to start with a better and more descriptive name for your coin. Previous 'X11Coin' name made it too clear that this coin was a ripoff from Darkcoin. Then it became XC, which is quite meaningless and random. What about 'Darkcoin Lite'?

If they were on the same block, xnode would not have lost its coins in case of orphaned block, right? In other words, they both went to wrong fork and once it is detected it could be corrected.
Another question is how to ensure they are on the same block.
Current design require two tx. Make it to single tx. Why two txs cannot reside in one block? They can, certainly, but how do you make sure two tx's are included in the same block? |

I think the only way to calm down people asking for open source is to give a date of release.
There is a rough timeline available but hard dates so far have been bad for the coin. Until it makes it to RC5, no date can really be set. I have a question about Darksend and the open source issue. As I understand it, it's based on the coinjoin code. Is that correct. Coinjoin was released under the AGPL license which forbids derivative works to be distributed without source. Is Darksend written from scratch then or is it modified from coinjoin source? If so, how is it able to be distributed without source code legally? Coinjoin is not code, it's a concept, an idea. gmaxwell wrote about it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=279249.0With that said, I assume you're talking about this github repository: https://github.com/calafou/coinjoin which is indeed AGPL. I honestly have no idea if some of Darksend's base code comes from here or not. It also sounds like the creator(s) is/are willing to work with you if you contact them. |

I think giving a hard date is completely unrealistic and will most likely only result in making a promise you can't keep. It'll be released when it's ready. We do have a rough timeline though (which has already been delayed due to unforeseen bugs, etc). (not to you directly) I think we would do well to be more civil all around (luckily I went to bed instead of getting involved in the political discussion mudslinging  ). We WANT more members to be attracted to DRK and its community, not turned away; that is how we grow. Sure, "guanchayuan" is a troll, but I don't think "superresistant" is, and he also clearly didn't know. We should be welcoming new potential members! (edit: to be fair, his signature is not worded in a way that makes me want to trust his veracity, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt) I also realize this thread is mostly a "joke" now, but I'm sure some new people still come in and read. DRK never failed to deliver. It is delivering every single day. The dev is well known and a brilliant coder. The actual release of the full features has NOT HAPPENED YET, and yes it was postponed a few day because Evan is a responsible coder. Testnet is going on like crazy and working wonders. Every single day it gets better and better. Every single day other brilliant minds chip in with their time and effort. This is one monumental coin in the making. Never have I seen such a solid group behind the scenes, working and troubleshooting for free, with passion and ardour, being part of a project that will be history in the making. From core code, to p2pool, NOMP and MPOS, and Masternode, this is like on huge team effort. Only if you take the time to understand the fundamentals of cryptos would you understand why this is happening. Except, of course, if you read charts. Then, yes, you're absolutely right. LOL My point was that you make it easy for the cheerleaders to try and discredit you. I agree with you 100%. The issue is that there is a core group of people that were likely in on the instamine that will do anything to discredit someone that doesn't support this coin. If you present your facts in a more professional manner you will make it harder for them to dispute those facts. Surely the fact that the "facts" you are referring to have been put to rest for months and months makes any attempt to bring them up cause for a public spanking? If they were put to rest then there wouldn't be so many people bringing them up. They were never put to rest. It was 50% "premined" in the first 48 hours due to a botched "mining difficulty adjustment". Half the current coins were mined in 48 hours. The fork was just a bump in the road. DarkCoin may or may not be anonymous, as you can't see the code since it is closed source. YES...the MAIN FEATURE, DARKSEND, that is responsible for the anonymous nature is CLOSED SOURCE. Might as well be named HoneyPotCoin. It could literally be doing anything...do you trust people or an algorithm? Clearly DarkCoin fanboys trust people over algo. Should've sold at the top of this OBVIOUS bubble. Those who think DarkCoin will gain "mainstream" popularity fail to understand the target audience of anonymous coins. At least if you buy DarkCoin, wait another month. If I buy in again I'm getting more than double the coins I had, obvious bubble my friends. So unless the masternodes are sending records of their mixing to some central location for record-keeping, it's fairly private/anonymous (even if they were, that'd have nothing to do with whether the tech works, it'd just mean Evan is a jerk working for the NSA or something). Extra edit: obviously, if you are really desiring to send something anonymously, and REALLY need to be sure it is, don't use Darksend until it's open sourced. |
