961  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lowest fuel consumption cars on: May 17, 2018, 05:31:52 PM
You can try Smart or Peugeot 107. I guess even Volkswagen uses less that 5L

Liking Volkswagen more, Peugeot, ughh, no.

Daihatsu Ayla car also became one of the cars marketed in Indonesia with a fairly cheap price. Daihatsu Ayla car also has an efficient advantage in the use of fuel oil .

I can't even find one on local adboards here  Cheesy

I had a Toyota Prius. It consumed consumes 4.5 - 5 l/100 km of track, depending on the place of driving. For me, this is the best car in terms of fuel economy

A bit pricey though.

Toyoto Camery saves a whole lot of fuel. I have used the car for long and it consumes lesser fuel.

You mean Toyota Camry?

Not a fan of DDG to be honest, its results are nowhere near as accurate as the ones that I get from startpage/ixquick, and it's even worse if I want to search for stuff in languages other than English.

I'll be another one that prefers to use StartPage as an alternative to both Google, and DDG. DDG as a concept is great, but in reality it's too much of a pain to find the things that you want. Google is up there with the way it handles search results, and probably is the best other than for the privacy concerns. As JetCash mentioned Google also likes to give you a lot of it's results based on money rather than what you are actually searching.

Doesn't DDG have the same results as google does?
Except for images.

I've been using it for over a month now for basically everything and I never had any problems.
The only thing I resort back to google is when I'm searching for images.

I don't like the idea of a server that has access to every thought I searched in my entire life since I got my first computer.

Even if said server makes your life more convenient?  I love how Google knows traffic flows.  I love the way I turn on my GPS and it already knows where I want to go based on my calendar.

The world is moving towards absolute observation.  You can fight it, but it will win over time.

In twenty years, the mist outside your room won't be condensation... it will be tiny drones that float into your respiratory system, tag your DNA and transmit constant updates to its owner.  You may have thousands of drones in your body at one time...

:/

Yes.
I preferr fighting it.

I can't deny it's convenient to open YouTube and have all the vids I want to see in front of me..
But in the greather scheme of things, I don't think that's a good thing.
Too much power concetrated in one place, that can easily be abused (it probably already is).
965  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iluvbitcoins & zekoroger Miner Hosting Collocation - interest check on: May 17, 2018, 05:06:55 PM
kwh is too expensive. You should do it in Serbia. Its $0.08 and that is significant difference.

I don't think I have the options to pull that off.

mmh interesting...

Will be there any other cost besides electricity?

Have you got a website/discord/slack channel?

I'm not too far from Croatia, can I bring the rigs by myself?

Thanks!

I think we weren't going to add any other fees.

We gave up on the idea with the low BTC price and profitability.

968  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is the Ivory Tower proof we shouldn't restrict other sections like the I.T.? on: May 17, 2018, 04:59:58 PM
I don't know, there is as much stupidos... they pollute by judging and deciding it's not serious. who decide? this is the problem. on the others sub the flood of shit post is such, but again it's just my opinion... what is a shit post?

more generally is online discussion still possible? who benefits the most by destroying all form of online discussion?

for example, myself I ask if trump is such a pussy that he doesn't have what it takes to kill hillary clinton, is it a shit post? politics? serious? I.T? doesn't change the fact that I think it's a valid question, which I would like to know the answer Smiley.

but seeking answer on an online board, only lead me to btc Smiley so who knows...

I'm unsure what I read right now  Cheesy

They incentivize people to be active.
They help create active threads, sections, SEO rankings etc. etc.
I do agree with these things, and I'd be a hypocritical liar if I said I wasn't motivated to post more because of the sig campaigns I've been in.  On the other hand, I usually end up posting over the maximum # of posts I get paid for in a week, sometimes waaay over.

The thing is, it's possible to be an extremely active poster and still not have your posts be spammy.  I'd like to think my posts are an example of this, and in fact Chipmixer's campaign is full of people who are prolific writers who don't produce a mountain of shitposts.

It's the crap like this:
"Bitcoin has given people hope because future will be good. I now afford good things for me and changed my life. I hope it goes higher still. Maybe even 10 million."
which TheGodson has correctly identified as the problem with campaigns.  Campaigns have drawn in innumerable participants from places where English isn't spoken, and they're required to post in English.  The result is that while their desperation drives them to join, it's not matched by skill with the written word, and they resort to writing cookie-cutter nonsense like the above.  Or even worse, they plagiarize somebody else's posts or articles from the internet.

Indeed.
Because you find interests in certain threads and come back to them even if you're not getting paid to do it, but would you even find them if you weren't incetivized to visit the forum?
You have a min.cap of posts you have to make and in that time you're capable of finding interests etc.
If you didn't have to make that min. perhaps you wouldn't even see those threads and come back to them.

Quote
So if campaigns were driving really talented writers to post, that would be a great thing indeed.  Unfortunately that's not what we're seeing at all.  We're seeing the worst writers who are trying to earn the most money, and it's their posts we see most frequently.

That's what campaign managers are supposed to take care of.
Pick only the quality posters, at least those who don't spam.

970  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Transferwise - Worldwide Bank Accounts on: May 17, 2018, 04:43:33 PM
Is it possible to open a business Transferwise account without having your own company bank account?

Also, would I run into any legal trouble, by using a Hong Kong company to sell items bought from Chinese companies, in the EU and receiving money on the Transferwise EU IBANs?
Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it look shady that you don't want to open a bank account yet like to reap it's benefits ? What's wrong with opening a bank account under your company's registration ? Too many red flags with the later part. It's not illegal, it's just raises suspicions as it makes people think "Why would you do that" ?

The problem is I have to travel to Hong Kong in order to open a bank account and a ticket overseas is quite expensive.
I once traveled to London to open an account with HSBC, we never heard back from them.
I'm thinking of the worst currently, paying a 1000$ for a plane ticket and not accomplishing anything.

On March 26 a crowdfund was announced and before that the price was 500 sats.
Right now it's 650.

I think XVG is undervalued, since a Mindgeek partnership should be worth more than a 30% increase (in the crypto world).

Can someone remind me what's the buyback price of BKB?
I can't really remember, I'm still holding some 10k on the website.
I remember the value was ~0.1$ or something usually.

Does anyone know when are the debit cards and the bank deal supposed to come out?
I've skimmed the reddit page and some articles online but haven't found much info about the progress.

I'm unsure where do I even opt-in on the website with this new design?
Or there isn't an option right now since the last opt in already passed?
