961  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How do you power an Antminer S9 in USA / Canada with 110v? on: February 14, 2018, 01:44:55 AM
I am getting S9 delivered today. It was shocking that UPS wanted additional $110 for Customs fee but I have no choice.

I bought an EVGA Supernova titanium(1600 W) and TP link Network range extender.
What I understood from reading this thread is that each miner has to be on its own circuit.
Is there any thing else I need or need to do before I can start my Antminer?

I am complete newbie to all this.  Any input from the experts is appreciated.

Thanks

As long as you are on a proper rated circuit and not overloading it; and you config your TPLink AP to be a wireless bridge, you should be fine.... im pretty sure that's what you were mentioning.

When you are first running it;  pay attention to the power cable for the PSU, and the PCIE cables going to the miner.  They should not warm up AT ALL.  If they are;  you are doing it wrong;  either overloading the PSU, or the circuit.

Most kill-a-watt meters have a built in voltage sense at the plug, so its also a good thing to note voltage while on and off;  If the voltage is on the low side to begin with;  Be cautious and do research on that subject on how the line voltage effects the operation of voltage transformers and their wiring requirements in electronic devices.

How can low Wall outlet voltage be bad?
962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on laptop safe if fan is 67% and temps under 70c? on: February 14, 2018, 01:14:26 AM
If you are going to do this at least remove your laptop battery so it doesn't explode.

lol. non removable battery fam. the fans are actually quiet tbh. im impressed with this laptops cooling, good temps and low noise. like i said im selling it soon anyway tho, i dont think itll shit the bed in a month or two.

not worth the risk.

Look up LiPo/LiFePo battery failures....   totally not worth the risk if you can't separate the battery.

If the laptop is a "compact" or "slim" model;  seriously they are NOT meant to be runn at full-bore;  so not worth it unless the thing is to be junked right now;  then, its worth it; cause you can remove all the housings to add more cooling capability, and as well remove that battery which *can* be removed.

you are compromising by saying the battery can't be removed....   100% not a good idea for safety sake on that notion alone.
963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Last month more GPUs went online than entire combined GPUs during Litecoin days on: February 14, 2018, 01:11:01 AM

So for me it's not scarey at all - but those people running say 5 or more rigs are just asking to wake up one day and discover they have a lot of hardware and nothing to do with it. I understand the motivation to increase in scale when I see what I have done with just 10-12 GPUs, but that is my limit.

Worst case, all of the hardware I've bought in the last year for mining *still has good resale value* because it is current or half-generation old.

If you've been paying attention, RX 4xx series cards are sometimes selling now for MORE than they sold for new, due to the short-term scarcity of the RX 5xx parts as AMD gets those ramped up and the resulting price gouging raising the floor on the value of the older "IN SOME WAYS BETTER but overall generally a tossup" parts.

Realistically though, if I ended up having to sell in 6 months, I could still probably realise 80% or more of what I paid for my recently purchaced gear - worst case rebuild it into "gaming machines" and might even be able to sell at a small profit.
Any of the gear I have that was NOT recently purchased is long-since paid for and PURE PROFIT making at this point (except for electric and cooling costs) and most of that gear I'd probably be running anyway on various "distributed network projects" like DNet and F@H.

POS and the eventual end of ETH POW is not FUD - the most recent statement out of Vitalik is still "aiming for POS end of year or early next year" but planning to impliment in stages, and the first stage is supposed to be ready "soon".

I won't be shocked if there are further delays though well into next year.

I still see no significant probability of an ETH ASIC.

I can see a possibility of the "diff bomb" driving most miners out of ETH before ETH goes full POS, but that's still months away and it will probably get "adjusted" again if the POS work goes slower than currently planned.

You actually think ETH is going to go pure POS?

Amazing.  I suppose you have a pet unicorn as well.

Believing the ETH devs will create a POS system which works as they claim; is like believing they are going to prove P = NP.

No one needs to worry about an ETH asic not because companies are worried about POS; but because the ETH devs would simply fork to a sufficiently different version of Ethash: which rendered the asics inert.  Diff bomb, please; what a joke.  ETH would be quickly replaced if its devs actually implemented any of this nonsense.  They already have too many problems.

doesn't mean people won't jump on the asics for ETC anyways;  which makes PERFECT sense as to why ETC has jumped up so much in the last little bit since the announcement of the new bitmain asic.

>9000+

But;  remember, with that increased fan speed comes increased dust buildup/contamination.  When that thing begins to overheat, it will do it in a very catastrophic way.

Laptops don't deal well with heatsoak.

Miner apps saturate the GPU/CPU more than the most intensive games out there, so you will be pushing the machine into a realm that it was not designed to deal with.

Its always heavily discouraged to mine with a laptop unless its a pile of junk.

What I do is strip them of all of their housings, and have them sitting in a well ventilated place to live out the last of its days mining some CPU algo or GPU algo if applicable as well....  But I stopped doing that ~2+ years ago.

"Hi need a little help with multi Algo mining setup. I use zpool the template setup below is for windows . I just want to switch between blake2s and lyra2v2 whichever is most profitable. I have 2 commands in been using to switch manually
./ccminer -x64 -a lyra2v2 -o stratum+tcp://lyra2v2.mine.zpool.ca:4533 -u walletaddress -p c=XSH
./ccminer -x64 -a blake2s -o stratum+tcp://blake2s.mine.zpool.ca:5766 -u walletaddress -p c=XSH

how could i merge these two into choosing between the 2 algos? scratching my head a little im using ubuntu and ccminer"

take a look at the main page of zpool.ca and the algo switching section.

its by means of the password;  and setting your miner app to not retry any connections;  and looping them in a batch file to keep trying as the connections get dropped.  Also;  don't forget to normalize or you won't mine what's most profitable for your card.  Instructions to normalize are in the same link mentioned below; it will be in one of the older batch threads.

I also have a series of batch files linked in my sig for controlling the profit switching/algo manually, or automatically.

batch link in my sig.

mminer package mega link.

open zip file and extract ccminerxevan.exe

It is a port from the ccmineralexis build...  probably what you are looking for.

Hello ;-)

Problems with Zpool.ca? I rented a 24 hour 230 TH/s rental, but i just see 130 on Zpool.ca, while MRR gives 230 TH/s
At other sites, it matches up the rental speed.

http://www.zpool.ca/?address=1Ev698UrUTL52wyrdRfRK25BfjXaA7YDWd

Anyone an idea what is happening here?

Regards,

DS-M/Sander

https://imgur.com/a/ntJq6

as i see it, seems ok.

Looks like several connections from the different rigs;  seeing over 280Th in the screenshot.

it will vary;  share diff gets trimmed, share% deltas up to normal.   Short rentals aren't the best, 24hr+ are better.

Looks like it was probably a combination of share diff returns (luck) and auto-diff+ deltas.

to add, its hard to factor in any disconnects since you don't actually see the miner's logs on your end.
968  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: February 10, 2018, 09:54:50 AM
Bitmain also has their "new" Model V9 out - cheap price but it sure looks like a recycled S7.

March delivery - and it's ALREADY very marginal on profitability even at MY super cheap electric rate.

I bet its old stock that's been re-lazed with a new label on each chip if it indeed is a different part number;  OR they thought about it in advance, and has a run of chips for the units they were going to be using in-house to be able to easily sell them after they are done with em.

I wouldn't touch those with a 30 foot pole unless BTC was over ~50K.....  and even then I would only accept one for free.... maybe.

But, on-topic;  I am excited to see what this year brings for the new products.   Last year seemed to go by silently; as you were full-ham on production of current devices.
I hope to see this thread relatively active for this year =)   I guess it all relies on having a chip supplier come through at this point, correct?
969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Yiimp pools (zpool/ahashpool/hashrefinery) making large payments to non-miners? on: February 10, 2018, 09:51:30 AM
Well, the responses seem reasonable to me, I assume hashrefinery is likely in the same situation as zpool and paying out a reasonably big chunk of earnings in altcoins.

To respond to some of the finger pointing here, I wasn't trying to stir up trouble, but thought the observation was interesting.
IMO there's no way anyone could have predicted the two explanations from zpool and ahashpool as to what those payments were without asking.

For the record, I'm currently a happy miner on zpool, after trying out all three.

I didn't take it as finger pointing myself;  in fact, without people like you actively thinking about it and wondering;  more issues like this could potentially get swept under the carpet, never to be seen.

Ive been with zpool since day one;  I was a transplant from xpool which was the same sort of deal;  but you could put in a payout address for each coin mined if you wished....  I personally prefer the way zpool is now compared to the xpool days.   less mess.  less fuss.

PROBLEMS with input and output  XVG !  Support does not work at all!!!

YoBit - SCAM!!! XVG Deposit is lost  Angry

yeah, they are on a different chain than others....

They don't tell you this though.

Check blockheight with block explorers before transferring non-mainstream coins in or out.   Gotta make sure its up to par.   In the withdrawl pane they list the current blockheight of the coin in question....

I only found out when our pool couldn't use them for an exchange for that reason recently.
971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][FlexFee™][SegWit] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: February 06, 2018, 11:16:43 AM
Also normaly there is a pending balance then it become your balance !
All balances
Shield
(total pending)            0.00000000 XSH
   Balance                      0.00000000 XSH
   Total Unpaid ****      0.00000000 XSH

I was mining verge first and and all was working correctly !

Why is Shield suddenly deferent and I need to read the whole thread . For what I need to do that before i ask !!

Total Unpaid still shows 0 like all the balances !

Still doesn't explain the small amount of time you were hashing, and being less than 24 hours from that point where you believe a problem exists you are not following simple instructions.

I do see what you are seeing, don't get me wrong.  But;  the real question is why are you seeing it?

What are you trying to get at with your behavior?  I still only see some very small block credits estimated in mBTC value not XSH value....   They haven't been sold yet....  As the site is still showing, they are on the exchange.  It could be something as simple as the exchange's reported price/rate is not passing through the system to your view.

If an exchange goes offline or is disabled, the credits for earnings to be sold there will count as zero until enabled.  That's one scenario of a billion.

Just relax, give it time as instructed multiple times.   Denigration and ill behavior won't change what is; in fact will only go to make things worse for you.

As I said above, the main page says "please wait at least 24 hours before asking for support." for many reasons you may not see or understand.  Reading this whole thread, you will understand why.

Read what HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh

I have been paid before !!!!!!!!!!! in the same coin . THIS DOES NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE BALANCE ARE 0000000

ALSO I BEEN MINING HERE A LONG TIME

MAYBE YOU SHOULD COMMENT ON WHAT INTEREST YOU OR RATHER BE QUITE !!

Ease up, you are asking for help.  Don't get upset when its given just because you don't like the answers to your very own questions.

Something wrong with Shield coin. A few Verge coin came through but still balance stays 0

This sentence structure is the exact reason I replied as I did.

Now let me point out the other part:

   Verge (x17)   1.940792 XVG   0.124%   0.01015586   34m ago   Immature (51/140)
   Verge (x17)   1.727401 XVG   0.111%   0.00903922   35m ago   Immature (53/140)
   Verge (x17)   1.950761 XVG   0.125%   0.01020803   44m ago   Immature (74/140)
   Verge (x17)   1.539483 XVG   0.099%   0.00805587   44m ago   Immature (75/140)
   Verge (x17)   0.417248 XVG   0.027%   0.00218339   54m ago

And as seen; non-matured funds... I.E.  no value yet because not fully possessed or sold on the exchange.

I now look at your wallet page and see they are on the exchange; right as I am typing this.

So yeah.  You do not understand.  My initial recommendation of reading the zpool.ca mainpage which describes:
"There is an initial delay before the first payout as coins you mine need to mature then, exchange and get returned to zpool, please wait at least 24 hours before asking for support." ...was justified.   You should read this whole thread as well.

You are welcome.   FYI, clever name.

I still kick myself for not clearing the shelf of 3g evga sc 1060's last year.....  so much profit could have been made.....  mining, and otherwise.

What gets me is the people that mortgaged their homes, took out huge loans, etc... to buy on the rise.   Such bad practice all the way around: Investing what you can't afford to loose, buying on a rise, not a dip, etc etc etc....

975  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining looks like it's dying to me.. on: February 04, 2018, 11:45:50 AM
Mining is already dead to the people who are paying for a gpu any price above msrp, for the others mining still surviving but not sure if it survives this  year. The thread I created is an example of how my sentiment is concerning mining and it has never been this bad. Right now eth gives only $1.20 per card and if the difficulty keeps rising then soon will be $0.50 and then 0.

1 free advice there is a world outside of eth...im still doing ~3.5-4$ day / rx 580

whatcha mining?

That's always the real question;  cause the second a horde jumps on the smae algo/coins you are mining;  bam... hit in profits lost....   Kinda sad, but true.

Best advice:  Try many algos, see what ones have coins that pay well and which algo is the most efficient when it comes to that notion.

Last year around August/September;  it was Skien for my GTX 10 series cards... right now, its different.....  But definitely not an algo that the masses are mining.   I am still pulling over $300/mo with the equivalent of 2x 1070 in hashrate on one account.

xevan port;  miners report a pretty low hashrate for the gear hooked up.

Happened starting when the frontend in-and-out started.  Example address is the batch file address: 1PHSDYvVp6HpqtuUPocK41DrdeHbbezaeP

One miner is ~5Mh, and the two others are 3.0 and 3.5Mh....  Seeing an average of 100Mh on the network, but im only getting 3% on frontend....  looking at the pool statistics for the port, I am wondering if all users or just I am seeing this.
977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Yiimp pools (zpool/ahashpool/hashrefinery) making large payments to non-miners? on: February 03, 2018, 11:47:26 AM
Can't speak for other pools, but for me those payouts are combined earnings from masternodes, PoS wallets and fees.

And it's not really an accurate representations of the fees.  There are a lot of miners getting paid in their altcoin of choice but the pool's fee's are always converted to BTC.

The more miners using altcoin as payout will give a false impression in the BTC payouts of the "large fee"

anyway, just a light dusting of FUD on this one but should clear it up enough for you.

thnx
Makes sense. Zpool and Hashrefinery payment sizes are really small to question any bad intent. But Ahashpool needs an explanation.

Concerning Zpool, I'm mining on Zpool for a long time and my realised earnings are always higher than Nicehash.
So although you can find a lot FUD about this pool I'm totally confident they are paying better than many other options.

+1000

I have been very consistent with zpool.  Always more profitable than switching to another location in my attempts throughout time.

I will also mind you that close to 1BTC was sent regularly not long ago on each payment just in TX fees alone....

But for a pool that does sha256 mining specifically on BTC;  phillipma has put a thread out on how they can basically make a KILLING on the fees alone by not splitting the fees among the miners.   Look for the thread, its insane but correct math and manner of thinking.
978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining earnings are terrible, I'm shutting down for a while on: February 03, 2018, 02:25:44 AM
I never saw mining as a short term profit, I'm just doing it on the side with my gaming rig since I don't have time to play anymore, might as well try to make some money, also thought about selling my card since the price went up by 30% compared to the time I bought it.
But the point is you should mine something you think will increase in value.
So many people just look at short term gains and jump around mining what looks good right now (nicehash), this is good if you have a big farm, but smaller miners are better off with some gambling.
As someone already suggested, BTX is a good coin to mine right now, but somehow can't get my miner to run, not sure what is the exact problem.

I mine for the short term profit.

The pool I use auto-exchanges for BTC and pays me in that.....

Has been pretty damned profitable and steady if I keep with the most profitable algo as it changes.

I think maybe they are trying to increase their market share of the man-in-the-middle payments sector.

Usually Red is HD LED, Green is PWR LED, Blue is RST SW, and other is PWR SW..... *usually*

The little + denotes which is each positive pin.
