981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karma /₭/ NEW! X11 on: July 09, 2014, 10:25:48 PM
This begins to feel like groundhog day. Karma has now been through its like 3rd or 4th "bubble" and every time its the same. "OMG we've gone down to 3-4 satoshi"? 4 weeks ago everybody here would have been THRILLED to be at 3-4 satoshi. Even if we do go down to the 2-3 range Karma's still up month on month. I said it before: what goes up must come down. It is completely normal for the market to retract after such a big increase.

With all the stuff that's in the pipeline for Karma and Karmashares you can be certain this will not the last time people start panic buying Karma. Just relax, place a few low buy orders and hope they hit. Load up for the future, a few months from now we'll laugh at this price.
+++
Exactly right....with each new high....comes a new low that's higher than any low the coin has had before.
What more could you want???

BTW, what I mine....I hold. But dang those high power asics on P2Pool make it tough. 90MH? Yeesh!
I did get a Blizzard (1.4 MHs) on Monday and it was nice seeing the little bugger mine as fast as my four 7850's and a heck of lot quieter and cooler. 3 more on the way. Saving the gPU's for X11.
Got a nice bag now.

It is pretty amazing and a testament to the hard work of the Karma Team.
Back when I started my little mining in fall of 2013 there was maybe 45~50 coins.
Now what? 300,400? Maybe more, everyday I look here at Bitcointalk and there's
one coin down and two taking their place.

Late April, after meeting a team member, I started mining karma.
Pool, then solo, and pool again until I've been blown out by the asic-crowd.
Good stash and looking forward to the future.
I'm investigating accepting Karma at my retail operation, especially the online part.
THAT....is what will give a coin success.
Acceptance and use by people all around the world.
Thanks guys.

I have security pulled down.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks, looks like a great coin.

KarmaWorldCup Update!

What's your cut going to be of the 34,302,348 KARMs?

Wow, those Worldcup payouts are going to be worth much more than originally thought.

My congratulations to the team on this threshold you recently crossed.
Hell of a ride so far.....looking forward to much more.
Don't know what if anything a 63 year old self taught sys admin could do.
But I'm willin' ....can't translate unless it's into deep south US.  Grin

Weird to me that some folks have trouble with the most basic thing of any coin....the wallet.
Triffin follow the steps, I'm about as old as we come ....and I've never had a prob.
Main thing be sure your firewall isn't blocking stuff.

in about a month you'll be glad you're holding LOTS of Karma.

From the P2pool page:

"I have received 22 mio karma in donations that will be used to pay a 20% bonus reward to miners.
This means you should see a 20% increase in your payouts until the donation runs out.
At the current rate we will have bonuses for the next 20 days (July 15th). "

My wallet has been receiving the 20% from the gitgo. When I look at the payout on the mining site, sometimes its dead on 20% with same block number sometimes a few numbers away, sometimes not there at all. I dunno. sort of bouncing around.
Not here for the 20% Just like mining the coin.

Cheers!

........
We waste too much time on petty nonsense. First we obsessed about price for 20+ pages, now it's this..

Surely we can be more productive Smiley

Amen kosmost....the huge quote boxes that get bigger are a distraction and take up a huge amount of space.
Anyone here know's your contributions Ag, so relax. I understand your
wish to standup for yourself, just let it roll off.
Sometimes its a better response.

Cat, give it a rest and enjoy where the coin is going as we all are.

Alt.....I answered the panic call this morning and switched my solo to your P2p pool.
Saw these weird little 3~10 karmacoin receives coming in this afternoon and went huh?
Quick check on the karma P2p site I saw the .5% fees lined out and went "Alright!"

I was just trying to "pitch in" and help and didn't expect this action on your part.
I'm not a pump-dumper (as Shawn will tell you) but a long haul miner that just enjoys it.
What I want to know is how the flip flop someone gets almost 90GHz in that pool?

I thought asics were coin specific....that's a lot of GPUs and electricity.

Any way , thank you for the adjustment, I'll leave Joeball on the pool.
993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares // Launched search engine @lill.com on: June 16, 2014, 09:38:13 PM

the difficulty is constantly changing but it doesn't react instantly to the increase/and decrease of hashing power, it is always a few steps behind the network hash rate..

difficulty ajustment is a correction mechanism to regulate the flow of coins to keep it relatively constant over a 24 hour period.

it is not exponential.. if the hash rate rises too quickly then the difficulty will adjust to compensate after N blocks.
in other words.. the difficulty adjustment algorithm is trying to keep the block creation rate to 1 block per minute (in the case of Karma)

" I see " said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw.

LOL... so if I hear you correctly.....difficulty trails the hashrate up or down  trying to keep a stable coin release of about a block a minute.
And really as a solo miner on this coin since May 1, I really only have my experience to draw on. Some days I would get a couple blocks one day I got 6.
It's truly been all over the map but averaged over 3 a day until the last 5 days then it went to crap.

Thanks for your reply Alphi.
I know that's the usual talking point of pools, except with my modest hashrate, I was getting more Karma per day soloing than I was in a pool.
And I tried several, both small and large.

Even last week when difficulty was high, I was still getting at least one sometimes two blocks a day.
Still more productive than pools (which I tried and rewards were about 50~70% of a block.

Now I'm wondering with difficulty way down why is it getting harder for my little 2x4 miner.

Oh and another question, is mining difficulty exponential?
995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares // Launched search engine @lill.com on: June 16, 2014, 06:53:50 PM
Well, I'll check on the other coin and its coin per release.
In the meantime how is a pool get 72 blocks in 14.5 hours?
Of 870 blocks available in the 14.5 hour day so far, this pool has "found" 72 of them. An extraordinary 8.2% success rate.
Pure hash power, dumb luck or voodoo?
996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares // Launched search engine @lill.com on: June 16, 2014, 05:32:57 PM
I'm trying hard to understand something.
All that I search up doesn't really explain it in terms I can understand.

I see other coins with higher network hash rates and lower difficulty than Karma.

Karma's hash and difficulty has lowered its true, but blocks are still very scarce to come by.
I found more blocks solo mining with diff in the 30's.
Is this just the "luck of the draw" as far as blocks go or can a big pool or miner somehow "hog " the blocks out there?

Guess what I'm asking ....What really determines difficulty? How do other coins have higher network hash but lower difficulty?
Is it the actual number of miners?

Thanks for anyone with some insight into this.
997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares on: June 15, 2014, 09:44:22 PM
Typical
I'm a member of a forum that because of its activities is finding it harder and harder to process donations through the usual payment processors. PayPal has gone out the window.....its international so Visa/MasterCard works kind of spotty.

I suggested in a post the following...
Quote
Why not accept donations in crypto currencies?
Bitcoin, litecoin , doge, worldcoin or karma?
No fees and no transfer headaches.
Screw the credit card and pay transfer companies.
Everyone here is pretty computer savvy and I bet many already are
active in crypto markets.
Just setup a wallet address for each coin the site wants to accept.
easy peasy

And got this response....
"Cryptocurrency is not a valid currency.
There is absolutely no protection if you loose your cryptocurrency. No bank will assist you in retrieving your cryptocurrency if lost.
There is also no help for those who have to recieve the cryptocurrency if something goes wrong at their end.

So pretty much an entirely unsafe way to transfer money to some one."

Bear in mind this is a group of several hundred (if not thousands) of users.
This is the attitude that all crypto has to change.

My solo miner is reporting 20.7 difficulty!
"Whattomine" reports it as 20.9 and a 1.50 GHz network rate.

Hope this holds so it will move on to exchanging for BtC.

Oh and don't you WANT more miners...outside or not?
There's only just over 20,000 blocks before the reward drops, so you can probably expect more miners.
You can't restrict a coin.
