I had a junk cooler master PSU that got hot, and had a 5870 sitting in the bottom slot next to it... card was always 10-15c hotter.  Try putting a fan in the front of your case blowing air toward the intake of the 5970 (faces the front)... or if your PSU is getting hot, upgrade Smiley

ok I pointed the fan more towards the PSU it's decreased by 20C THANKS!

Is it sitting right next to your PSU?

yeah

and I do have a fan blowing at it with cold air - it's a mesh side panel

Is that card at the bottom of your tower or case?

yes bottom. What is burning up tho? cgminer detects it as the lower temp ...

I might have put too much thermal paste Sad I'm so greedy!!! URGH
990  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 7970 temps increased by 10C after applying new thermal paste? on: January 30, 2012, 11:10:50 PM
I opened up my 7970 to put on new thermal paste *(Artic Silver 5) and now temps are 10C higher.. wth? Do I have to wait until it's cured?
991  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Omg crazy 7970 clocks??? on: January 30, 2012, 02:49:26 PM
Currently OC'd and mining at 1250Mhz core clocks and 300mhz Mem clocks. I don't know how much it's currently doing on Diablo miner because 5970 is also running ;/ but total hash is 1400mhs right now! This is at stock voltages as well. I'm gonna see how far I can push this beast!

how many 5970s? two?

one 7970 and one 5970 (two GPU card)

so the 7970 finally crashed at 1261 left it running all night running at 1250 Cheesy temps are around 63C b/c it's cold here and I have a fan blowing at it right from the window. The 5970 is also OC'd stock voltages at 875mhz. I know on CGMiner it was doing a total of 700mhs on Intensity 9. But Diablo miner is completely different.
992  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Omg crazy 7970 clocks??? on: January 30, 2012, 02:41:44 PM
Which platform are you on?

I'm curious because I can't seem to drop the memory clocks from the default 1375, on Windows with unofficial overclocking enabled Afterburner anyway. Suggestions?

Very nice core clock btw, mine only does 1175 max while mining.

Use Trixx to drop to 300mhz
993  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Omg crazy 7970 clocks??? on: January 30, 2012, 05:50:49 AM
nope Sad but it's currently on rosewill 1000w bronze psu

what flags should I use for a dedicated miner? I just switched to Diablo Miner from CGminer
996  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Hash rate too low for this set up? on: January 30, 2012, 03:59:05 AM
7970 gets about 550 at stock clocks.  6870 gets 260-280 and 5970 gets 640-680mh/s.

5000 series cards do extremely well with SDK 2.1, but since you have a 7970 in the mix you have to use SDK 2.6 which isnt so good.

I get 998mh/s from my setup (mild undervolt too)  430watts right now at the wall.

7970@975mhz
6550@650mhz
5870@885mhz

Any special flags you use for Diablo?

for CGminer I use these:

-v 2 -w 256 -g 4 -k phatk --gpu-memclock 300 --auto-fan --temp-target 69 -I 7

can I do the same for Diablo?
997  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Hash rate too low for this set up? on: January 30, 2012, 03:41:48 AM
Hey guys.

I was getting 1080 hash/sec with just 5970 and 5870 (on CGMiner) around 350hash/sec for each GGPU

 now I switched to:

7970
6870
5970

and only getting 1400 hash/sec (on DiabloMiner because it is required for 7970).

What am I doing wrong?
998  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help me mine optimally with these cards! on: January 28, 2012, 04:45:47 AM
How do I know if SDK 2.1 is installed or not? I Installed ati-stream-sdk-v2.1-vista-win7-64.exe from ATI's website.

reboot your system first. sometimes 2.1 detection is wonky
then run something called gpu caps viewer, google it if you dont 100% know you have it
go to opencl tab. the very top dropbox should have 2 options if you have 2 sdks installed. 2.1 is called ATI stream. 2.6 will have a version number of something like 831.4. 2.5 will have like 793 or something, starts with a 7.

Thanks and CGMiner will auto detect and use SDK 2.1?

1000  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Auto-notify Script for Newegg 5830s (or any other site) on: January 27, 2012, 06:23:44 AM
how do I make it loop and run the script again after say 5 minutes? Instead of just closing.
If you're asking about my script then it has a loop built in. No need to run every 5 minutes because the script runs non-stop and checks once per minute.

I haven't tried yours yet but the other one it stops after the first change. Yours doesn't do that? Also do you know any good US sites for free SMS API? I tried signing up for the other one but it wouldn't let me Sad
