this is hilarious to the point where it is almost sad

for more genuine hilarity, read his coin's announcement thread:

Does it use bitcoind or blockchain.info api?

only Bitcoind

as far as i know, blockchain.info also has an interface that is 100% compatible with running a daemon locally

(in addition, and separate to blockchain.info's other URL-based api)

Uhhh how did they get the seconds of the earth?

6000*365*24*60*60

oh wait, that's some other group's estimate

Related, my oldest sister attends a church that tells its sheeples that the Earth is 10,000 years old.

well, they're improving their estimates then...   4000 years at a time

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone post an exhaustive list of bad things Bitcoin is doing to this world? on: November 10, 2013, 05:48:52 AM
Another example, if I give you $50 for something, I can then see where you send that coin. If I recognize the addresses (or can look them up elsewhere) I know exactly what you're buying.

not quite. if you give 'me' $50 for something, you can then see where 'the recipient' sends that coin.

it may be the case that the address i give you for sending the $50, is directly owned by a 3rd party

e.g.

A owes B $50.
C purchases something from A for $50, but A simply gives him B's receiving address.

...also, put me in the money-laundering-is-not-inherently-bad camp:

Making it a lot easier to launder money...

Tools are neutral.  Likewise, as someone said above, free, voluntary exchange should be free.

hmm, tis a lot of bitcoins. I'd simply give them back as good faith. But some people are not like that, welcome to the real world.

wow this post is old and entertaining - 500 bitcoins now = 60,000

wow this post is old and entertaining - 500 bitcoins now = 173,000
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not enough profits with 25 BTC reward to include more tx's? on: November 08, 2013, 02:32:37 PM
an easier method for less advanced users would be to simply let the original 'free' transaction go through, but for a seperate payment to the pool.

(i.e. you pay the pool 0.001 btc and tell them which free tx you want them to include in their next block)

that way novices don't have to figure out how to resend a transaction (which as far as I know, bitcoin-qt won't allow)

For those who are interested in automated trading on BTC-E Cryptotrader.org added integration of BTC-E API.
The features include:
  • Support of 130+ trading indicators such as EMA,RSI,etc
  • Backtesting strategies on historical market data
  • Automated trading for BTC/USD,LTC/BTC,LTC/USD
  • Trading bots running on VPS cloud and open source standalone bot
  • Email alerts

If you have any questions, you can directly PM me. Happy trading!

i have a related question, but directed to btc-e admins:

why are only *some* pairs available via api? surely if the programming is there, other pairs could easily be switched on to also work with bots?

18  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Convert satoshi wallet.dat to amory X1Y2Z3.wallet on: October 28, 2013, 12:36:08 AM
As I keep mentioning the new wallet format:  it will handle compressed public keys -- in fact it will use them by default.  But until then, the support isn't there.

the million dollar question... when is this new wallet format coming out? or when did it come out? Cheesy

[MtGox] also cannot handle this basic functionality called money withdraw

or charts

i don't see any reason for newbies to stay away from alt-coins altogether, but i'd recommend just doing it with a smaller fraction and put most (i.e. > 50%) into btc
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Completely Anonymous BTC Wallet on: October 22, 2013, 02:38:09 PM
Cash through the post isn't as trackable as one thinks, as well as Hand to Hand with CCTV also isnt a huge deal.
