From what I'm seeing, Shell is not directly accepting bitcoin yet... The person who paid at that gas station used the "MoneyBadger" app to scan the QR code and pay with his bitcoin ^{[there's an option for them to receive bitcoin (if they've enabled it), but that Shell branch most likely received South African Rand]}.

I wouldn't be so sure about that since you'll still be using the services of a centralized platform... Imagine buying bitcoin from their exchange ^{[if there were any]} and as soon as you try to send it to an address with a certain AML score, they'll stop you and freeze your account ^{[I highly doubt most users would like to deal with such things]}. Another thing that can happen is if you travel to an unsupported country and log into their platform, they'll close your account.

This is a great guess, but the internet penetration rate isn't that good in Venezuela ^{[roughly 62% only]}. IMO, any country that ticks the following boxes could be the next one:

• ✔ High inflation rate
• ✔ Good internet penetration rate ^{[80% and above]}
• ✔ Suffers from lots of sanctions

I'd prefer the latter one more, but purely because of the privacy reasons ^{[as opposed to an easier withdrawal process]}.
