21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Odds for approving a Solana spot ETF? on: March 01, 2024, 10:18:56 PM
If Ethereum gets its own spot ETFs approved by the SEC, do you think the same will happen with Solana in the future? I mean, Solana is the most popular smart contract Blockchain after Ethereum. It rose exponentially in price over the past few months. If spot ETFs are approved, market prices will soar all the way to "Mars".

What do you think? Will a Solana spot ETF become a reality? If not, why? What are the odds for approval? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cash (Paper Money) vs Monero on: February 26, 2024, 11:47:59 AM
What do you prefer for making untraceable transactions? Cash (paper money) or Monero? Based on your selection, why do you think it's best for said purpose? If paper money goes out of circulation, would you use XMR? Or something else?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Grin
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Kaspa worth it? on: February 26, 2024, 11:41:08 AM
For the first time in history (if I'm not mistaken), Kaspa surpassed Ethereum Classic in market cap. At least, that was the case a few days ago. I was surprised to see this for a coin that's fairly new to the market. Does this mean investors/traders prefer KAS the most? What if Kaspa attract miners from both ETHW and ETC chains? Will it become the most profitable ETH-based PoW chain to mine?

I am wondering whenever I should invest in this coin for the long-term, or just get into the craze for short-term profits. What's your opinion?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
24  Economy / Economics / Backing Fiat with Bitcoin...A possibility? on: February 26, 2024, 11:33:01 AM
What if someday central banks like the FED and the ECB decide to back their currencies with Bitcoin? If the FED used to back the USD with Gold, then what's stopping them from doing the same with BTC?

Do you think this is a possibility? If not, why? What will happen to the global economy if major Fiat currencies are tied to the value of Bitcoin? Will it prosper?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Gary Gensler: "Bitcoin is not that decentralized" on: February 18, 2024, 05:33:45 PM
In a recent interview with SEC chairman Gary Gensler, there was something that caught my attention. The chairman stated that "Bitcoin is not that decentralized". That's "partially due to the prominence of centralized crypto exchanges". You can read all about it here: https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/14/cnbc-transcript-sec-chair-gary-gensler-speaks-with-cnbcs-squawk-box-today-.html

I'm afraid he's right, especially when CEXs hold most of BTC's circulating supply (eg: Binance). It's even worse now with the recent approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs by the SEC. Institutional investment companies like BlackRock, VanEck, and MicroStrategy are accumulating large amounts of the cryptocurrency.

We're essentially selling our BTC to companies driven by mainstream governments' own interests. With this, Bitcoin's true value proposition has failed (banks win). At least, the code is open source. If BTC becomes compromised, what's stopping us from moving to a more decentralized chain in the future (Litecoin, Monero)?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Could XRP Ledger replace SWIFT in the future? on: January 22, 2024, 08:39:45 PM
XRP's features make it the ideal system to power all (or most) of the world's Fiat currencies. Banks can make use of the XRP Ledger for money transfers at a fraction of the cost. Since it's centralized, there's a high chance governments around the world will launch their own CBDCs on the platform.

If XRP replaces SWIFT, how high will it go? Will it surpass ETH's market cap at least?

I'd like to know your thoughts. Thanks. Smiley
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which is the best ETH L2 network? on: January 22, 2024, 08:22:02 PM
I've seen many Layer-Two networks built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. From Arbitrum to Optimism and zkSync, there's an alternative for everyone. The most recent one is the Base network.

I'm wondering which L2 network is best? Or which one has the biggest ecosystem of dApps?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Chances for approving a spot Ethereum ETF? on: January 22, 2024, 08:00:13 PM
What are the odds for the SEC to approve a spot ETF for Ethereum by May? Gary Gensler used to say ETH is a security back then, but things could change now that Bitcoin spot ETFs were recently approved by the regulating entity. Market prices for ETH have been going down lately after BTC's downfall to $41k. So I'm wondering, is now the time to buy more ETH or should I wait for another dip?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Kaspa or Ethereum Classic? on: January 05, 2024, 11:37:10 AM
Ever since Ethereum (ETH) switched to Proof of Stake, miners have scattered across equivalent blockchain networks using the good-old PoW algorithm. Ethereum Classic (ETC) is one of those networks that's often considered as the "original version of Ethereum". But there's a new "kid" in town that has recently surged in popularity. This new "kid" called "Kaspa" is as close to Bitcoin as possible in PoW dynamics. It's like having the "goodness" of both Bitcoin and Ethereum on one chain.

What do you think about Kaspa? Will it surpass ETC in hashrate? It is a better alternative than the real ETH? Or all the other way around? Is Kaspa's "rise to glory" nothing more than hype? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 05, 2024, 11:31:58 AM
It's been quite a long time since the first cryptocurrency with the "Mimblewimble" privacy technique was released. My first days of using GRIN were quite troublesome due to its added complexity. But it's a great coin to use for privacy-oriented transactions once you get the hang of it. Somehow, GRIN became a forgotten cryptocurrency as all of the attention shifted back to Monero. Was this a result of poor marketing/promotion efforts? Or a lack of user experience?

I'm wondering if this coin still has a future, especially when privacy on crypto has been frowned upon by mainstream governments. Do you think it can be good long-term investment like Monero? Or is it a complete bust? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Buying crypto for less than $1? on: January 05, 2024, 11:27:28 AM
Is there an exchange or service where I can buy crypto with less than $1? As far as I know, Coinbase is the only exchange with a minimum purchase of $1. But I'd like to spend cents on inexpensive cryptocurrencies such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for DCA.

Is this possible? Please let me know where I can do this. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which blockchain has the highest rated TPS? on: December 26, 2023, 05:43:39 PM
Among the various blockchains available, which one has been proven to have the highest TPS? I'm not talking about claims, but rather concrete results. Something that's been tested to deliver as promised.

Blockchains like XRP and Solana claim to process large TPS, but that hasn't been proven yet (AFAIK). If there's a blockchain network that can handle many TPS like Visa, then crypto would be on a road towards massive adoption worldwide.

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What if DEXs are banned in the future? on: December 26, 2023, 05:41:54 PM
Governments seem to come up with something new to prevent crypto from achieving its full potential. From cracking down on mixers and enforcing KYC across centralized exchanges, they aim keep crypto under their control. The only things they can't manipulate or enforce the rule of law (aside from blockchain networks themselves) are decentralized exchanges.

But what if governments decide to hunt down the developers of DEXs? Or what if they estalish a law where developing a non-compliant DEX (no-KYC) can be subject to prosecution (jail time or fines)? If that happens, the industry will be doomed. With a US senator drafting the "Digital Currency Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2023", anything's possible.

What do you think will happen if DEXs are "banned" in the future? Will they die? Or will they still survive (despite the fact that most people will avoid them to prevent jail time or being fined)?

Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best Solana staking pool? on: December 26, 2023, 04:47:12 PM
I want to stake my SOL with the highest available APR/APY. I've used Lido.fi in the past, but it stopped providing SOL staking services a while ago. I'd like to know which staking pool gives you "more bang for your buck". Also, do you know if the pools are decentralized (non-custodial) or operated by a single entity (centralized)? That's an important factor to consider, especially when there's the risk of losing everything in an instant.

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Are Uniswap Liquidity Pools & MEV Bots worth it? on: December 26, 2023, 04:14:12 PM
I've read online that you make money by providing liquidity for a token on Uniswap exchange. There's also a way to do arbitrage on Uniswap by using an MEV bot. Same goes for PancakeSwap and Sushiswap. It's like earning money from staking but you're getting paid from trading fees (if I'm not mistaken). I've never tried this before, so I want to know if there's a catch before going all in.

Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
36  Economy / Collectibles / 1HODLCLUB Site Down? on: December 11, 2023, 12:47:38 AM
Anyone noticed the official store for 1HODLCLUB is down? I've typed the following link: https://1hodlclub.com

But I've found that message from Shopfiy which reads "Sorry, this store is currently unavailable". The old domain (1hodlclub.store) doesn't work either. Don't want to spread FUD, but is this a red flag?  Huh
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which old coin do you prefer? Litecoin or Dogecoin? on: October 16, 2023, 11:34:42 AM
Among the good-old coins listed on the market today, which one do you prefer the most? Litecoin or Dogecoin? The former is often used for serious cross-border payments at a fraction of the cost, while the latter is used more for micropayments/tipping. Despite these differences, it's no secret that DOGE is faster and cheaper to use than LTC itself (Dogecoin's block time is lower than Litecoin's, while market prices are cheaper). I'd choose both as they're tried-and-tested blockchain networks with decentralization and security/reliability in mind.

What would be your pick? And why did you choose that coin in the first place? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Tether Gold vs Paxos Gold...Which is the best? on: October 16, 2023, 11:28:40 AM
I've stumbled across tokenized gold assets such as the ones mentioned on the title of this thread. I'm wondering which one is the best (safest) for buying and holding long-term? Knowing that Tether had a shady past, I'd be careful putting my money into something that might collapse in the future. Paxos might be a better option, though.

Still, I'd like to know what do you think about each of these tokens. Any insights as to the amount of reserves they have, or how they comply with regulations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which privacy technique is the strongest? on: October 16, 2023, 11:21:16 AM
There are many privacy coins on the market each with their own features and approach towards privacy. I've read about various obfuscation methods such as CoinJoin, ZKPs (Zero Knowledge Proofs), RingCT, and Mimblewimble. Yet, I'm wondering which of these techniques is the strongest in terms of preserving your utmost financial privacy and anonymity.

Is it the one used by Monero (RingCT + Confidential Transactions), Zcash (ZKPs) or Grin (Mimblewimble)? Please enlighten me. A detailed overview among the strongest/weakest points of said privacy techniques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
40  Economy / Economics / In times of war, Gold rises. What about Bitcoin? on: October 16, 2023, 11:14:22 AM
I've seen Gold market prices rising lately as a result of the current Israel-Hamas conflict. However, Bitcoin hasn't experienced any upsurge in price. It's still hovering around the $26k range. Something similar happened during the Russia-Ukraine war.

Is it because investors still don't trust Bitcoin as a store of value? Or is it something else? Please enlighten me. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
