721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin implants? on: December 20, 2016, 05:00:11 PM
I'm not sure if this has ever been implemented yet, but can you imagine a way of paying with Bitcoin by just using your own body?

It would be more of like a microchip implanted into your left or right hand that would contain both your public and private keys to send and receive Bitcoins.

So in case you want to send or receive some BTC, you would just pass your hand over at a scanner and it would perform the desired operation. This is would make it a very convenient and easy way to transact, and carry your Bitcoins with you anytime, anywhere. However, the only thing to be considered would be the security of your private key from within your implant, to protect your funds from theft.

Nevertheless, I want to know your opinion about this, since it would be pretty cool to have such a system to help spread mass adoption of the cryptocurrency.  Smiley
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Public vs private blockchains on: December 19, 2016, 06:16:53 PM
Ever since Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto, there has been a huge interest in blockchain technology among business, companies, and even banks worldwide.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and Litecoin are called public blockchains, where anyone can add entries, and verify transactions in a free way. However, banks have taken the advantage of using the blockchain technology for their own means, and decided to create private chains where its access is limited to authorized members.

Now, if you take a look at these concepts, they are more similar to the Internet vs the Intranet. Which is why, I'm curious to know what are the advantages or disadvantages between these forms of blockchains?

Will they coexist in the future? Or will one of them prevail?

Please let me know what do you think about this, as I want to learn more about both of these chains.  Smiley
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Decentralized Exchanges: Why do they lack liquidity? on: December 16, 2016, 10:08:48 PM
We've seen the past events from centralized exchanges like Mt. Gox and Cryptsy become hacked, resulting in massive losses, thus scaring away new people to get into cryptocurrencies.

Now, what if people could start trading on decentralized exchanges based on blockchain technology, which is more secure?

The reason why DEX like OpenLedger hasn't gain much traction it is because of the lack of liquidity. This makes me wonder why people still trust centralized exchanges when they are subject to manipulation, hack of funds, and many other factors.

In my own opinion, as more centralized exchanges become hacked, people will then switch out towards decentralized ones when they realize the security and reliability it provides.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your thoughts about this. It would be very interesting to see the majority of altcoins to gain traction on these markets, in order to increase liquidity and volume, thus making centralized exchanges obsolete over time.  Smiley
724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What will happen with Bitcoin as the blockchain increases in size over time? on: December 16, 2016, 09:14:39 PM
Something that I'm quite curious to know is that what will happen if Bitcoin's blockchain data keeps increasing in size over the years?

I mean, it will grow up to a point where it would make it less accessible for anyone to setup a full node, as they would need bigger amounts of storage, which implies a higher cost to maintain a node.

So, will there be a solution for this in the future? I was thinking more of like a method to compress blockchain data, to help solve this issue, but don't know if it would be the most viable solution for it.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this.  Grin
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which is your favorite smart contracts platform and why would you recommend it? on: December 16, 2016, 08:38:35 PM
In my own opinion, smart contract platforms like Ethereum have provided an innovative way to create automated and immutable applications running atop the blockchain.

Even if there are still many flaws and security issues to be fixed, I have the feeling that once the technology becomes perfected, it would emerge stronger than ever, and it will bring more usability for businesses and companies worldwide.

Nevertheless, which of the smart contracts listed on the poll above is your favorite pick, and why would you recommend it?

In my case, I choose both Ethereum Classic, and Synereo as they are promising platforms that may deliver a truly secure environment for mainstream use.  Wink
726  Economy / Trading Discussion / Any cheap trading software around? on: December 16, 2016, 08:21:22 PM
I'm looking for an affordable trading software that would help me trade cryptocurrencies in an automated way, to help me save time in contrast from doing it manually.

I've seen a good software called C.A.T, but I'm not sure if this is the most affordable one right now.

Nevertheless, if you happen to know if any good and affordable trading software that you would like to recommend me, then feel free to share it with me. I will greatly appreciate your time and effort in helping me out with this.  Smiley
727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Which is the most secure mining method? on: December 16, 2016, 07:04:28 PM
There are many different methods to secure cryptocurrencies, such as Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, hybrid PoW/PoS, and many more.

However, I'm curious to know which of these methods are the most secure for a cryptocurrency, to help protect it against 51% attacks, and other factors. Sorry for asking such question, but I just want to know your opinion for it, as it would help me establish my own cryptocurrency in the future.

By the way, if there are other methods that I may have missed from the poll, then feel free to share it with me, and express your opinion about it.  Grin
728  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Is Solar mining really profitable? on: December 02, 2016, 01:01:33 AM
I'm curious to know if it is really profitable to mine BTC with solar panels at your home, and if it is worth doing it.

I know that there are many panels which are very expensive, but if energy costs reduce greatly to a point where you can make more money with your miner, then I'd be willing to do this.

One miner that I've been looking forward to use with this system, is the Antminer S9. Nevertheless, if you have any tips or advice, please let me know.  Smiley
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / How profitable it is to setup your own mining pool? on: December 01, 2016, 06:36:31 PM
I'm interested in setting up my own mining pool for an specific altcoin. But before I start with this task, I want to know how profitable it is to run a mining pool at home. I'm looking into using one of my Raspberry Pis to get started with it, but I'm not sure if it would be enough to handle the mining pool.

Also, if you happen to know of a good mining pool calculator that will help me calculate my profits, then feel free to share it with me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Grin
730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is your favorite Zero Knowledge Proof coin? on: December 01, 2016, 06:16:09 PM
Since ZCash inception, a number of forks have emerged from it, leaving us a variety of coins that use the same technology as its predecessor, and some of them are aiming to become better than the former cryptocurrency.

Also, the original Zerocoin protocol became a reality with Zcoin lately, but it is up to debate whenever all these Zero Knowledge Proof cryptocurrencies can deliver the attention of companies, businesses, and even developers in order to apply real usability towards them, and help the technology become mainstream.

Nevertheless, I want to know which Zero Knowledge Proof coin would be your favorite, and why would you invest in it?  Smiley
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Zcash worth to invest in it? on: November 11, 2016, 04:39:24 PM
Since Zcash launch, prices have been around the $1000+ mark, however after a few days the price has gone down, and I think that it will continue to do so for the following days until it reaches the total supply of 21 million coins.

In my own opinion, Zcash has been overvalued, (considering that there have been privacy oriented altcoins before like Monero) and the fact that Zcash does not enforce anonymity by default (unlike Monero), it makes me wonder whenever Zcash would be a good investment or not.

If there is one thing that I don't like about Zcash, is the fact that it is behind a company, as well as having a sort of premine called Founder's reward, which seems kind of fishy to me.

Please let me know what do you think about this.  Smiley
732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How profitable it is to set up masternodes? on: November 09, 2016, 07:58:41 PM
Have you ever tried to set up Dash masternodes? If so, then how profitable it is to set up one?

Will I be able to ROI fast, or will it take quite some time? Just asking because I've been curious about this as I will likely get started with Dash masternodes later this week. Right now, Dash prices have been declining, so it would make it a great opportunity to buy some cheap Dash and meet up with the minimum amount needed in order to run a masternode.

Any helpful tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will mobile devices serve as BTC full nodes in the future? on: November 07, 2016, 07:06:45 PM
The Bitcoin blockchain has been the biggest one in size, compared to other blockchains, thus making sync time take quite some time. Nevertheless, as storage capacity increases each time, we've now seen new standards for mobile devices like a 200GB microSD card.

Now, storage like 200GB is far than enough to store Bitcoin blockchain data. So my question is, will there exist a possibility of running a full node from within your mobile device sometime in the future?

It would be ideal to achieve this, since mobile devices are much more accessible than PCs. Looking forward for your opinion about this.  Smiley
734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How exactly does RPC calls work? on: October 21, 2016, 12:41:03 AM
I'm trying to figure out how to send remote RPC calls from within my PC to a remote BTC full node. All I know is that I can set the RPC port, username and password, but when I try to access it via a web browser (by typing its ip address) and put in the login details, I get an error message.

So how exactly does this work? I just want to be able to control a remote full node from my PC just by specifying the commands like: getpeerinfo and dumpprivkey.

Is there something that I may have missed? Please help, as I'm a little confused with this.  Huh
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Anyone tried the Latte Panda SBC for mining? on: October 21, 2016, 12:25:19 AM
I've seen that there is a new SBC on the block, which uses an Intel Atom processor and it has the capability to run a full version of Windows 10. Seeing the specs myself, it looks like a nice little gadget to mine BTC (for fun) or CPU mineable alt coins like Magi. Which is why, I would like to know if you have tried crypto mining with this thing, or what would be your opinion about it? (as I would like to know your recommendations prior to buying one myself)

Even if you cannot mine crypto with it, you can always set up a full node and carry it with you anywhere.  Smiley
736  Economy / Trading Discussion / What would be your recommendations when trading crypto? on: October 13, 2016, 08:58:51 PM
Even though, I've been several years buying, selling and even holding Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies there is one thing that I need to master yet and that is the ability to trade effectively any crypto in order to maximize profits.

Since crypto is highly volatile (especially alt coins), there is a good chance to make decent profit via trading.

Any good recommendations or resources that you could recommend me in order to trade cryptocurrencies effectively? (books, or any other resource)

I know one key rule which is buy low, and sell high but most of the times I end up loosing more than what I have invested initially instead of maximizing profits.  Smiley
737  Economy / Service Discussion / Any good Bitcoin games around? on: October 05, 2016, 12:57:52 PM
I'm looking for fun games where you can earn Bitcoin or use it within the game. Can you recommend me a list of BTC games that are fun and addicting? Just want to know the list of BTC games that are available as I'm going to use them as an introductory point to teach and attract new people towards Bitcoin at my place.  Smiley
738  Economy / Economics / What impact could the blockchain have in our economy once it becomes mainstream? on: September 26, 2016, 01:56:02 PM
Bitcoin has changed the ways business, banks, and even governments think by slowly adopting it each day. It has been the most exciting technology besides the internet.

In addition to this, a lot of interest has grown into Blockchain technology over the past few years leaving corporate giants such as Microsoft to make partnership with Ethereum in order to deploy smart contracts.

Now, once Bitcoin and blockchain becomes mainstream what impact do you think it will have in our economy? Will it help solve global financial crisis? Or will it even make our lives better as governments all around the world use this technology?

I would like to know your opinion about this.  Smiley
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / If Satoshi reveals himself, what would be of Bitcoin? on: September 23, 2016, 06:19:45 PM
What do you think that will happen once the real Satoshi reveals himself (and proves that he created Bitcoin)? Will Bitcoin ever be the same? Will governments try to pursue Satoshi and put him in jail?

This will be something interesting to know, once it happens (if it ever does) sometime in the future. Please feel free to share your thoughts here.  Smiley
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 29, 2016, 11:22:17 PM
We all know what happened to The DAO which caused a big sum of ETH to be stolen by a hacker, and thus it resulted into a disaster that caused ETH to loose credibility and separate itself from the rest of the crypto community.

All of this was just a result of security flaws, from with the contract's source code.

Now, I think that it can be improved on and emerge as a whole new DAO, but this time not on the ETH chain, but on the true original chain that is Ethereum Classic. If devs, take their time to analyse the contract code, they may be able to fix security flaws and make The DAO a reality on the ETC chain.

Maybe it won't have the same name as the ETH counterpart, but it could be a great way to make the "DAO concept" to become a reality.

What do you think?  Smiley
