681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Will Bitcoin Cash overcome the original Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2017, 02:35:57 PM
Due to the controversies of the BIP 91 proposal, Bitcoin mining provider ViaBTC and other supporters are planning a hark fork on August 1st. It will be called Bitcoin Cash with a block size of 8mb.

Now, it would be up to debate whenever this separate chain becomes successful in the future and it gets the attention from major exchanges, businesses, and startups that support Bitcoin.

Do you think Bitcoin Cash might overcome the original Bitcoin we know and love in the future? Or will SegWit2x prevail and render other forks useless?

I would like to know your opinion about this Smiley
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can I reset coin age when staking? on: June 14, 2017, 03:46:50 PM
I've been wondering if it's possible to reset coin age of a given PoS coin balance, since I've been staking some Paycoin but unfortunately it has reached the max coin age so it doesn't allow me to earn more stakes from it.

Sorry for asking about this, but I'm still getting around PoS coins to fully understand and make better use of them to maximize my chances of staking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley
683  Economy / Economics / Cashless society on: June 14, 2017, 03:41:23 PM
Have you ever wondered how would the world's economy be like in the future as a cashless society?

Perhaps, with the increased traction of blockchain acceptance nowadays, could lead to the creation of digital fiat currencies powered by blockchains that are managed by governments themselves. With this in mind, there would be no need for physical cash, as digital fiat currencies would provide many advantages such as quick settlement, global payments, full transparency, implants use on citizens to make payments, and more.

If this becomes a reality, which I'm sure that it will, it would radically transform our lives for the better and reduce criminal activity as a result of the full transparency and auditability that a digital fiat currency would have thanks to the power of the blockchain technology.

Also, it makes me wonder if cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin would exist by that time, or will they co-exist with digital fiat currencies.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this.  Wink
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Name your favorite cryptocurrency on: June 14, 2017, 03:36:13 PM
Among the rapidly increasing market traction for Bitcoin and other alternatives, there are many unique cryptocurrencies each with their features and value propositions.

Thus, I would like to know which cryptocurrency (or cryptocurrencies) is/are your favorite(s) and why did you choose it?

As for me, my favorite cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Zcash, and Litecoin.

I chose Bitcoin because of its high value on the markets, not to mention that it was the first cryptocurrency to bring the concept of the blockchain. In the case of Ethereum, I like it because it employs a new concept where organizations and corporations can do businesses in a decentralized way powered by smart contracts which I believe that it's revolutionary. And finally, Litecoin is also one of my favorites since transactions settle very quickly, as well as it has adopted SegWit which makes it better than ever to handle more transaction load and enable the possibility for faster transactions with the activation of the Lightning Network.

Nevertheless, I would like to hear your thoughts about your favorite cryptocurrency.  Smiley
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What are your experiences with Storj? on: June 02, 2017, 03:32:40 PM
Have you tried renting your hard drive space with Storj? If so, I would like to know your experiences about it, like if the same is profitable, among other things.

I'm considering myself in getting one of those "MineBox" that I've seen around the internet, to start my journey with this and earn StorjXcoins.

I've seen that Storj will be switching from Bitcoin (Counterparty) to Ethereum which would make it even better as the latter has less transaction load.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your experiences about the Storj platform.  Grin
686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain identity cards? on: June 02, 2017, 03:27:30 PM
Does anyone know where to get a blockchain identity card? Or how do you make one?

I know that there are many solutions for creating identities on the blockchain like Namecoin, Blockstack, and others, but I'm interesting in getting my own identity card as I've seen some images around the internet which show this concept.

It would be great if blockchain identities would become useful and practical in real world applications like passports, driver's licenses, and more.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are smart contract Ethereum doublers worth it? on: May 20, 2017, 01:09:35 AM
I've used to see many doublers powered by Ethereum smart contracts, where they would multiply the amount of Ether sent in a specified amount of time. Many of them which I've placed my Ether on, actually work, but it is up to debate whenever this would continue to do so in the long term.

Nevertheless, do you really think that Ethereum doublers powered by smart contracts are actually worth it? If so, what would be the most recommended doublers to use nowadays? I would like to know your opinion about this.  Grin
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will the Lightning Network make Litecoin more widely used? on: May 20, 2017, 01:03:24 AM
As Litecoin has reached acceptance from its miners towards SegWit adoption, it has greatly increased its transaction capacity. Now the path is open towards the activation of Lightning Network to help make Litecoin even more useful for micropayments and off chain transactions.

The question is whenever the Lightning Network would be the most viable solution for Litecoin, to help make it become widely used in the mainstream world? In my own opinion, I think that it will do so, eventually making it closer towards reaching Bitcoin's marketcap in the long term. When this comes, people would use Litecoin more for their daily transactions, while Bitcoin would only serve its purpose as a store of value.

I'm thinking that maybe Litecoin would become the second largest cryptocurrency in marketcap, right after the Ripple hype is over. This last one, is completely centralized and it would not be long before it devalues in price as truly decentralized cryptocurrencies take the lead.

689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Steem actually profitable? on: May 20, 2017, 12:58:56 AM
Have you actually used Steem before? It makes me wonder whenever you could make some serious profit out of it, or it would just be better off to look out for other ways to expand your earnings.

The concept of getting paid for social media content is cool, but I have my doubts of how much I could earn with the Steem platform, since I'm pretty new to it.

Also, I find it rather confusing having three different cryptocurrencies like Steem, Steem Dollars, and Steem Power. Could someone enlighten me in this by the way?

Nevertheless, I would love to hear your thoughts about the possibility of profiting with this new way of publishing content.  Smiley
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin should be decentralized even further on: May 20, 2017, 12:53:33 AM
China having most of the Bitcoin's hashrate is a bad idea for its decentralization. Since Bitmain is one of the largest ASIC mining hardware manufacturers in the world, it is one where it holds the majority of the pioneer cryptocurrency's hashrate.

As a result of this, due to Bitcoin's mining becoming more centralized each day, it is getting harder to reach consensus among the miners, especially with the acceptance of scalable solutions like SegWit. Since miners are mostly in for the profit, they don't care much about expanding Bitcoin's transaction capacity, but rather prefer for the same to keep increasing in transaction fees, so they could earn more money per block mined.

That is why, in my own opinion, Bitcoin's mining scheme should be decentralized even further to prevent big mining companies from taking over the important decisions of Bitcoin, and give the power back to average every day people. Perhaps a switch to a new mining algorithm which would be more resistant to ASIC will be the most viable solution to this problem.

691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What do you think about the future of Smart contracts? on: May 05, 2017, 08:06:59 PM
Blockchain technology has paved the way towards the development of various "smart contract" platforms such as: Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Lisk, and so on. Because of this, new ways of implementing autonomous applications without the need of middlemen or human intervention have emerged.

While this field is new and experimental, it would might become revolutionary up to a point where major banks and corporations use the technology for various tasks such as: automated banking, issuance of assets, property ownership, and more.

Nevertheless, I would like to know what do you think about the future of smart contracts? Who will become the leader in this evolving field? Will it become used in the mainstream world?

If it were me, I'd say that Ethereum will be the future of smart contracts and the leader among other platforms, becoming used in the mainstream world, especially with corporations and businesses alike. The recently formed Enterprise Ethereum Alliance may change things for the better.

Still, would like to know your thoughts about this.  Smiley
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Geotagging? on: May 05, 2017, 07:52:29 PM
Do you happen to know if such application exists for Bitcoin? I mean, I know that this has already been accomplished with a cryptocurrency named GeoCoin, but I haven't seen it become a reality for Bitcoin yet.

Could you imagine the possibility of tagging Bitcoins at a specific point in earth? It would encourage anyone to get a grasp at free Bitcoins by just exploring the given area on the map. This would be useful, as well as a fun and rewarding way for newbies to get started with Bitcoin.

693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain powered internet? on: March 31, 2017, 04:47:18 PM
I'm not sure if this exists yet, but if it does, it would totally decentralize the internet. Being blockchain powered, its content would become immutable, making it difficult for any government or nefarious organization, to take control over it and shutdown the websites living under such system.

I've heard about Maidsafe, but recently found out that it was not blockchain powered. Still, it has interesting technology that might become useful once released.

694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What will happen with Bitcoin if it never scales? on: March 29, 2017, 06:31:52 PM
What do you think that might happen with Bitcoin if no scalable solution becomes accepted?

Will it remain as a store of value, while other altcoins take the lead for everyday transactions? Or will another cryptocurrency take its place as the top in marketcap?

I would like to know your thoughts about this, as the ongoing scaling debate will further limit Bitcoin from reaching new heights. As for me, I believe that the Bitcoin community would come up at a resolution somehow to put an end to this issue, and make the pioneer cryptocurrency great again. What do you think?  Smiley
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which cryptocurrency is the fastest? on: March 17, 2017, 11:01:41 PM
As Bitcoin becomes slower each day in transaction confirmation time, other alternatives could prove to become useful for everyday transactions. Cryptocurrencies like Litecoin, Dogecoin, and even Ethereum have faster transaction confirmation time allowing you to send and receive coins at a hassle-free way.

Thus, among the wide variety of altcoins, many have block times which are near instantaneous. Based on these facts, which cryptocurrencies do you consider the fastest?

I would appreciate if you would list it or them here.  Smiley
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will Dogecoin have a future? on: March 17, 2017, 09:39:07 PM
Dogecoin has been my favorite alt coin for quite a long time. It serves as a good cryptocurrency for tipping others, as well as being a fun and inexpensive medium of exchange.

However, I'm worried what might happen to Dogecoin in the future, since it has been quite some time that no new version of the QT wallet has been mentioned, neither some innovation to keep it going for the long term.

It would become ideal for Dogecoin to add SegWit to its code, and gain traction if it gains acceptance from the miners. Then, if it manages to become the first cryptocurrency to accept the scalable solution, it could rise in popularity once more (not to mention that transaction will be near instantaneous).

Nevertheless, Dogecoin is a great cryptocurrency being inexpensive and relatively stable, making it a great way to tip others or send micropayments faster than BTC at a fraction of the cost.

Looking forward to your opinion. Wink
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency that uses QuBits? on: March 17, 2017, 08:06:39 PM
As we progress into the world of Quantum Computing, new and more efficient forms of processing become possible. It would only be a matter of time before these systems take off in the mainstream world, that would replace traditional computers.

Now, since Quantum Computers introduce QuBits, the question is: Will it become possible for a cryptocurrency to adopt this technology for its hashing algorithm, to become a more complex and secure one?

I've seen that there is a cryptocurrency named QubitCoin, but I'm not sure if it would make use of QuBits.

Nevertheless, if you happen to know of any cryptocurrency that would make use of QuBits, I would be glad if you would share it with me. Also, I would like to know your opinion about a cryptocurrency which makes use of the above technology.   Smiley
698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What do you think about blockchain powered cars? on: March 03, 2017, 02:09:53 AM
Recently, I've saw a video that showcased a car that had a built-in wallet, powered by the blockchain. If successful enough, then it could become a revolutionary way to enable autonomous cars that would refuel themselves and drive to any point with the use of the blockchain.

Users would only need to pay a fee in a specific token, to be able to ride the car, all in a self-autonomous way.

What do you think about this? Will this make a huge impact in the future?  Roll Eyes
699  Economy / Lending / Lending bots: Are they profitable? on: March 02, 2017, 01:31:23 PM
I'm wondering whenever the use of lending bots (like Poloniex Lending Bot) would become profitable enough to help build a nice income out of it.

The lending bot that works with Poloniex, has a 10% fee, which brings me doubts whenever lending your Bitcoins with it, would be profitable at all.

Has anyone tried lending bots before? What results could I achieve by using one?

I would like to know your opinion about this.  Smiley
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Sidechains or Child Chains? on: February 24, 2017, 06:21:14 PM
I've been watching Ardor's features lately, where it provides the use of Child Chains, to help make the platform scale.

I also know about Blockstream's proposed sidechains solutions for Bitcoin, as well as Lisk, proposing the use of sidechains.

Still, I'm a little confused towards which of these proposed solutions are better, since in my own opinion, Child Chains look very similar to Sidechains.

Is there any advantage over one another? What are the differences between them?

Sorry for asking, I just want to learn more about them, especially Child Chains, since I'm trying to get my head around it, exploring the Ardor testnet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley
