1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Investing in a casino's bankroll...Still worth it in 2024? on: April 18, 2024, 11:47:20 AM
I remember the days when online crypto gambling sites offered us the option to invest directly into their bankroll (like the one in my sig). Nowadays, it's hard to find one that does. The only I've found is Bitvest. But activity on the site is quite low compared to its rivals.

I was wondering if it's still worth investing in an online casino's bankroll? If it is, could you share where can I invest my BTC? Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
2  Economy / Exchanges / Selling BTC for foreign currencies on: April 17, 2024, 07:08:48 PM
If I want to travel to another country and want to have foreign currency beforehand, where can I sell my BTC? I'm talking about selling BTC to a foreign currency before leaving my home country. Is this possible? And of course, is it legal? Just curious to know.

Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any other coins like Primecoin? on: April 17, 2024, 06:22:35 PM
I remember the days when mining XPM was still a thing. The cryptocurrency had an innovative approach to PoW by using prime numbers instead of traditional hashing algorithms. As of now, the Primecoin project is inactive with little support from mainstream crypto exchanges.

I was wondering if there are other XPM alternatives that are based on prime numbers? These days the industry is focused on speculative "meme" coins, and worthless NFTs, so it's hard to find projects that are truly-innovative. Especially on the PoW side, when the market is largely-composed by PoS coins.

If you know of any other coins like Primecoin, please let me know. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining ORE tokens...Worth it? on: April 17, 2024, 06:14:32 PM
I've read about this new token where you can mine it on your phone. It's just like Electroneum and Pi.Network. Only this one lives in the Solana blockchain. PoW-based tokens are not new, as we already had 0xBitcoin on the Ethereum blockchain.

Is it worth mining ORE on your phone? I'd like to know your experience with it. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
5  Economy / Economics / The collapse of central banks...Inevitable? on: April 17, 2024, 06:10:11 PM
With central banks struggling to keep inflation under control, people are beginning to lose trust in the traditional financial system. Some politicians (eg: Javier Milei) even suggested to abolish central banks as they're the main cause of the world's economic problems.

If the global economy continues to deteriorate, do you think central banks will collapse? If that happens, it will be the end of Fiat for good. In such a scenario, do you think Bitcoin will become the currency of the world?

What's your opinion? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple's Stablecoin: The future US CBDC? on: April 08, 2024, 03:01:32 PM
Ripple, Inc. recently proposed the creation of a USD-backed stablecoin. It aims to compete with already-established players (mainly USDT and USDC) on the market. For years, the XRP Ledger was believed to become SWIFT's replacement in the future. It hasn't materialized yet, but XRP is already used by many banks worldwide. It enables interbank payments at a fraction of the cost. Settlement times are near-instantaneous.

Now if Ripple succeeds with its stablecoin project, would it become the US' official "Digital Dollar"? For what I know, Ripple, Inc. is an American-based company headquartered in . The FED might work hand-in-hand with the company to radically transform the USD as we know it. Do you think this is possible? If not, why? What if it becomes a reality? Will such a move strengthen the USD's position as the world's reserve currency?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Lightning Network: A failure? on: April 06, 2024, 02:26:18 AM
It's been years since the Lightning Network was launched, yet adoption has been quite slow. Most people are still transacting on-chain, despite the fact that sometimes network fees increase to undesirable levels due to the Ordinals hype. The L2 scaling solution promised to boost mainstream adoption for BTC with its ultra-low fees and blazing-fast speeds. It's still flawed, despite being established for a few years now.

What do you think? Is the LN a failure? If not, why? Should we give it more time to mature? What is the main reason most exchanges, merchants and/or businesses haven't adopted it yet?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
8  Economy / Speculation / Is the halving already priced in? on: April 06, 2024, 02:11:39 AM
BTC has been "pumped" massively ever since the spot ETFs were approved in the US a few months ago. The rise has been exponential, making BTC reach a new ATH before the halving. This has never happened before in the history of crypto (AFAIK).

Considering that BTC is in a new ATH, I wonder if the halving is already priced in? If that's the case, then market prices will remain relatively the same post-halving. Don't you think?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Whatever happened to decentralized marketplaces? on: March 28, 2024, 04:59:51 PM
I've once heard about decentralized alternatives to eBay and Amazon where you can buy/sell items online without middleman. OpenBazaar and Parcl are among several alternatives aiming to transform e-commerce. While they've gathered a lot of attention within their early days, it seems the concept of a "decentralized marketplace" is fading away as the industry shifts into "meme" coins and NFTs.

Are tightening regulations one of the reasons why decentralized marketplaces aren't taking off? Considering what happened to Silk Road in the past (although not truly-decentralized), it's likely such projects will remain a "niche" forever. Too bad because this had the potential to radically change e-commerce for the better.

Thoughts? Huh
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain-based social networks...The next big thing? on: March 28, 2024, 04:50:15 PM
I've seen many projects using Blockchain tech to build social platforms where people can truly own their data. Projects like Steem/Hive provide decentralized blogging, while Memo.cash and Memo.sv provide an alternative to Twitter/X. Although these aren't as popular as centralized counterparts, I'd say they're off to a good start.

Do you think Blockchain-based social networks have a future? Will they become the next big thing? If not, why? Do you think centralized social networks (Facebook, X, Instagram) will be replaced by Web 3.0 dApps?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Cheesy
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / "Meme" coins are ruining everything on: March 28, 2024, 04:42:13 PM
I see "meme" coins are clogging up Blockchains and rendering them useless, as the hype shows no signs of slowing down. Blockchains like ETH, BTC, and even Polygon/MATIC have seen an increase in network fees. Even Coinbase's ETH L2 network (BASE) have been affected by "meme" coins.

This is frustrating, because there are users who want to use crypto for day-to-day payments. Not for speculating or getting rich quick. Developers are going to need to constantly improve on-chain scalability to keep fees as low as possible. That's without undermining decentralization, of course.

What's your opinion on this? Do you think the "meme" coins craze will move the industry away from being a utilitarian one to a speculative one? Will the hype last forever? Do you think crypto will do fine with "meme" coins in the way?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Stablecoins or Fiat? on: March 28, 2024, 04:35:56 PM
When planning to protect yourself against volatile crypto market prices, which type of currency do you prefer? A stablecoin, or a traditional Fiat currency (USD, EUR, JPY, etc)? Why did you make that choice? Would you prefer holding either currency long-term? Or crypto is better for that?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
14  Economy / Collectibles / [Question] "In Code We Trust" Silver Rounds on: March 17, 2024, 06:07:21 PM
I have a few of these in my collection which I want to know more info about. To refresh your mind, here's how they look like (front and back):

Can anyone tell me how many designs were released? Also, what would be the mintage numbers?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Selling NFTs...Where to start? on: March 12, 2024, 02:06:45 PM
Let's say I've created some NFTs and I want to sell them on any of the NFT marketplaces available. How do I know which marketplace is the most popular? And how do I attract sales? Also, which Blockchain has the highest NFT trading volume? If I launch my own NFTs (digital art) it would be on either Polygon or Solana chains.

Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any good RWAs out there? on: March 12, 2024, 01:56:31 PM
Do you know of any other Real World Assets (RWAs) on the Blockchain that are worth the investment? So far, I know of Tether Gold and Paxos Gold which are tokenized versions of Gold. But what if there's more? I'd certainly love to see a tokenized version of Silver, Platinum, Diamonds, etc.

Do you think it's still early for RWAs to become a thing? Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheesy
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / JP Morgan says BTC price could drop after 2024 halving on: March 12, 2024, 12:43:44 PM
History has shown us that Bitcoin's market price goes up after each halving. But this time's different. Especially when institutional investment companies are buying up most of the circulating supply. BTC reached a new ATH right before the anticipated halving event of April 2024. Prices are going up, and everybody's happy. But what if there's a big market correction once the hype ends? According to JP Morgan, Bitcoin could go down to the $40k range after the halving craze is over. So we'll be seeing the inverse effect of what used to happened before spot ETFs became a thing in the crypto industry. You can read all about it here: https://www.theblock.co/post/279833/jpmorgan-bitcoin-price-april-halving

What do you think of Bitcoin's current situation? Will it retain ATHs after the halving? Or will there be a massive bloodbath in market prices? Do you think the halving is already priced in? What would you do? Sell or keep "hodling"? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Decentralized vs Centralized Gambling....Which do you prefer? on: March 01, 2024, 10:25:51 PM
Thanks to the inception of smart contracts, we can now enjoy decentralized gambling in a provably fair way. I've used a few gambling dApps in the past, and the experience was great. Except now that dApps charge high gas fees (on ETH) due to increased network congestion. But with L2 scaling solutions and alternative chains, this should no longer be a problem.

Do you think decentralized gambling dApps will eventually replace their centralized counterparts? If not, why? Which do you prefer? Centralized or decentralized gambling? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Odds for approving a Solana spot ETF? on: March 01, 2024, 10:18:56 PM
If Ethereum gets its own spot ETFs approved by the SEC, do you think the same will happen with Solana in the future? I mean, Solana is the most popular smart contract Blockchain after Ethereum. It rose exponentially in price over the past few months. If spot ETFs are approved, market prices will soar all the way to "Mars".

What do you think? Will a Solana spot ETF become a reality? If not, why? What are the odds for approval? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cash (Paper Money) vs Monero on: February 26, 2024, 11:47:59 AM
What do you prefer for making untraceable transactions? Cash (paper money) or Monero? Based on your selection, why do you think it's best for said purpose? If paper money goes out of circulation, would you use XMR? Or something else?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Grin
