3. More GPUs; More Problems. - (Power draw, heat dissipation) Can the electrical wiring in your house handle 20 GPU's mining at once? Probably no.

One 20 amp 240v circuit run out of your breaker box can support 18 to 24 gpus without a problem.

For undervoltated R9 390, it will consume about 220W, or 1A for each card. So 20 amp is about 20 cards.

Assuming you are running on a 240v circuit.  USA 120 and you need to half this.  MB & processor will eat up 100 to 200 watts.

Seriously difficult for me to understand how it can keep its position with less community that coins with a fraction of its market cap.

Hi

Thanks for letting me know - I would love to own a pair of the Audeze (best looking headphone on the market IMO) but they are just too much for me to justify spending that on them (although thats a very fair price you offer for phones + amp).

I'm only really looking at around $500 second hand as my top end price so limited in what I can go for.

I saw the Fostex the other day and will have to give them a listen - another beautiful looking (and sounding by all accounts) set of headphones.

Thanks again.

What music do you listen to mostly?

The X00 are simply amazing for rock.  I mean it's just impossible to say enough good about them (imo).  They aren't bassheads like my brothers VModa Crossfade but def more bassy than the neutral headphones.

For Jazz and easy listening I actually wish I'd kept the HD 600 headphones as they didn't hurt my head.  They aren't quite as good as the LCD-3's but they are incredible for Jazz and female vocals.

Best of luck ... I love good headphones :*)

i see 800-1000g net hash it's not going up allt he time, i dunno what you're talking about, but the profit now is the same as before, so there is no reason for the diff to go up

Look at http://dwarfpool.com/eth

Difficulty in Billions. Its going up every day and going up very fast. Pretty soon all AMD gpus will be sold out on newegg.

Difficulty can go up 4X and still be highly profitable for paid off GPU's at .08 kw electricity rates.

For what it's worth on the cooling I tried the mineral oil with an old GPU.  It WOULD work but the hassle is going to be a pain.  I got a REAL oil pump (new $500+) and a real oil radiator.  There's a part of me that wants to try it but I have a tough time dropping $1,500 on mineral oil that it would take to submerge all of these cards in multiple cattle tanks that will have no resale value.

What I wound up with is a big 36" air evaporator fan that you find at big sporting events or a fair around the livestock ($2,500 new but I found it for $750).  My setup is in the garage and I plan on running this and sucking air into the attic with an attic fan that fits in my attic access.  We will see.

.05674464 https://bitcoinchain.com/block_explorer/address/1JMMfWNx8htHQ9EnwGy3FXamrq8S69HU4g.  By far the most helpful.  Guy I bought the server breakout board who gave me advice that ultimately let me run my rigs off of just 12v breakout boards for server GPU's

.02801831 https://bitcoinchain.com/block_explorer/address/15aXoTvp3s33zERTVMGf75NuMsb87fCWeP - for GPUshack recommendation.  I spent hours setting up ubuntu for mining when I didn't need to if I'd paid more attention to ethos

Waiting on the last address.  Didn't feel like there were any killer guides that I could write for someone that I was looking for but still some really great info.

The problem with starting small and getting bigger is that difficulty will grow during that time.  My electricity is about half of what yours is (.08 kw).  People in Washington pay as little as .025.  People in Irkutsk pay .01 and don't have cooling issues.

It's all a gamble.  And there are some folks out there with a huge competitive advantage.

Bump - anyone have any studio headphones for sale?

I have LCD-3 + Audeze Deckard.  I want to sell it because it gives me a headache with the weight but Jazz truly turns into something completely different.  & female vocals ... my god.

I'd take $1,400 for both with escrow (comes with all original packaging).  They are the prefazor edition.

These are also some amazing cans that I have that aren't for sale (but you should get some).  Not a good Jazz profile headphone but great for rock.

352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 20, 2016, 06:47:05 PM
May be stating the obvious but it looks to me like as/if/when eth cracks the savy people looking to hedge against bitcoin are trying to edge into monero.

I'm tempted to sell as it seems loan rates explode right before corrections but there's not that much room in this market cap and supply for the newly created eth millionaires looking to hedge.  Could be a bad week for a Monero shorter.

Eth goes up and eth owners have more money to put in.  Eth goes down they become more desperate to hedge.

Almost a month at .1 interest with 1300 xmr.  30+.  Can't help but wonder what this guy's endgame is.  He's had a chance to sell.

I've made 2% in 20 days lending to some dude ... wonder if he forgot he borrowed em?

Many times when I checked XMR lending rates have actually been lower than BTC lending rates.

I'm actually really puzzled by poloniex's handling of the situation.  It seems if a borrower agrees to pay .1% a week ago and today there are multiple loans for .03% that poloniex would borrow an available .03%, kick back the borrowers .1% and pocket the .07% difference.

Very confusing to me why I am going on 20 days at .1% with XMR.

Someone borrowed 1300 quite a while back @ .1 and they've racked up 16XMR

Is this really best anon coin?

Short answer is yes.  By far.  And they've fixed bitcoins scaling problems and dealt with the hardfork issue.

And Monero could hypothetically implement zk-snarks offering both alternatives. Open source projects tend to eat other projects that have flaws (the premine tax). Then again, Zcash seems to have locked in the experts on this tech.

I'm not so sure about that hypothesis.  Ethereum came after touring complete open source that could be added on to any crypto.  Apple has been monetized far more than any other Unix / Linux based system.  Red hat has done well vs open sourced Linux for servers.  Windows vs Ubuntu.

If anything I would say the organization creates a decision  making process that seems to outthrive  open source.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Up to $120 bounties for answering altcoin mining questions on: March 07, 2016, 01:45:59 AM
I'm thinking about sinking some major money into mining.  Probably $15,000 to $20,000.  Not all up front but sliding into it pretty quickly.

I've got about three rigs up and running with ethereum but I have several issues I want input on.  I am setting aside a $40 bounty for the three top answers ($20 for the top, two $10 for the runner ups) paid in bitcoins.  I will be posting this in several places.

If there is a REALLY good answer I will offer an additional $80 (total of $100) for the top answer.  This is my research that may save me from making a big mistake.

I live in the Midwest with temperature that hits 100f  / 38c for 3 to 4 consecutive months a year.  I want to run this operation in my garage.

Cooling.  This is by far my biggest concern.  I live in the Midwest with three months of 100f  / 38c per year.  I've dealt with this before with litecoin.  I don't want to have to air condition.  In my previous experience fans aren't adequate.

Will this gpu be able to stay cool at the temps I've mentioned without air conditioning?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131676

If not … does anyone have experience using dialetric fluid / oil to submersible the cards in?  I'm going to have to cool the oil somehow right?  Is there a book way to do this?  (Drop sealed containers of ice in the vat, pump it thru an oil radiator?

Hardware.  As linked above I'm leaning towards the 390X to try to retain value a year from now.  I'm thinking of using this motherboard

http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-Motherboard-H81-PRO-BTC/dp/B00HEUIS2G

USB risers.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Powered-PCI-E-Express-1X-To-16X-Extender-Riser-Card-With-60CM-USB-3-0-Cable-/301105921855?hash=item461b4fbf3f:g:oGMAAMXQuTNTMSBV

Mining.  Has anyone developed a proprietary ether miner they are selling?  Has vertcoin or monero mining stayed profitable with a .09 kw electric rate between the litecoin dropout and today if you are able to get a good cooling (non ac) system in place?

Power.  I'm leaning towards this as my PSU.  http://holybitcoin.com/product/dps-2000bb-breakout-adapter-board/ (I know I'll have to install a fan for the PSU).  I'm fairly comfortable with the electric side of things until it gets to the PSU  (I understand amps, volts, watts, and required wire gauges.  Any warnings on running server PSUs?

Some "trading group" seems to be shorting XMR, see:

https://twitter.com/ActualAdviceBTC/status/706505597760311296

https://twitter.com/ActualAdviceBTC/status/706502147056111617

Furthermore, a lot of shorts are taken out and either dumped or put in the asks to protect current shorts.

I can confirm, that there are short sellers now in the markets. All my Moneros available for lending are been taken, and I am not giving out loans at minimum rates.
Quite largish short position now so there is not that much downside IMO.

I can confirm.  What are you charging for lending rates?  I'm getting like .08% ... I've seen some evidence that polo manipulates the lending market
