(crypto does not deserve to be classified as "investing")

If you are going to make a statement like that than you need to qualify it. Many if not most people on this forum would disagree. If you are going to make an assertion that almost everyone would disagree with than it needs to be accompanied by an argument, else it looks a lot like trolling.

The gambling/investing assertion wasn't necessary for my primary point.  Fear & greed are the two emotional sides of eithe gambling or investing.  I could write a long post explaining my perception of the two but I'm on my phone right now o.0

Fear is the natural opposite side of greed when it comes to investing/gambling (crypto does not deserve to be classified as "investing")

Hell, they have very close ties to BCX, after all.

what exactly IS BCX's relation to Cryptsy?

In the PoW vs PoS argument I believe the "Energy can only change forms" theory is partially at work.
746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 01, 2014, 01:52:25 PM
I would love to see XMR added to BTC-e.

any ideas on how to make that happen?
747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 30, 2014, 07:00:18 PM
BTC-E is who we need.

And we don't need to spam the shit out of him via twitter.  We need somebody with personal contact to invite him to Risto's mansion for cigars.  Or have Risto visit him/them.

How does "new money"'s perception of the coin change if the inflation period is long? I mean, what benefits are there in the long inflation period for investors? How is growing economy of the coin dependent on the length of the inflation period?

Nobody loves inflation, but few people regard it as a horrendous evil to be avoided at any cost.   Normal people do not expect that a hoard of cash will keep its value, much less grow more valuable, by itself, over time.  And, for the good of the economy, they shouldn't "invest" in cash or other "dead" assets: they should use their intelligence to choose productive enterprises, and invest in them.

Cryptocurrencies were meant to be means of payment; their repurposing as long-term investment has always been criticized by economists.

I think anonymint hit this nail on the head.  The issue is not inflation it's how the inflation is distributed.  Which is generally NOT to the people responsible for creating production (knowledge, workers, investors)

If Neos anon breaks, even in the most successful attack, all it does at worst, is that group of nodes gets attacked. it doesn't matter.  Because nodes are forwarding all information to the highest bidder anyways

There.  Fixed.

Newbie post with no connection to reality, and with obviously no research done. Well I guess that can be expected on this forum.

So I encourage you to sign up and join the Neos community at their official forum.

http://forum.neoscoin.com/

This way you don't have to be constantly exposed to worthless and pointless posts from fudders that can't even use their real usernames because they don't want to be connected to the false information they post.

Monero has a forum in the works as far as I know, but that is only something I heard, so I can't say for sure.

He might have more connection to reality than you do.

Still under consideration, including waiting to see what input we get from MEW.

I am going to re-iterate my idea of the core devs holding both the database and GUI in "ransom" for large sums.  Those features are released when people donate that amount of money.

XC is run by wolves leading sheep to the slaughter as far as I can tell.

him being afraid that monero could really get litecoins position, but why wouldn't he simply buy or mine xmr when they are cheap.

Ahhh - litecoin.  That is the only rational explanation that I've said from the beginning makes sense.

I believe he got litecoin for around 0.20 each.  XMR isn't a sure thing with BBR plus dealing with a new codebase that still isn't fully understood.

The bet is untenable. It is game-theoretically impossible for Risto (or anybody else, who we suppose helps XMR) to accept it. BCX is an asshole, but he's not an idiot and perfectly knew that.

What do you mean untenable?  To be a devils advocate - isn't whoever has worse odds going to be the one avoiding the bet?  Hence Risto had less favorable odds than BCX?

What do you call the 25k sell walls a few days ago then? Manipulation happens on both sides.

Indeed it does.  Then a whale was accumulating.  Just seems like I see less manipulation keeping the price down on the orderbooks than I see keeping it up.

Now it seems somebody is holding the price up.   Wish I'd had more than my phone to see what was going on in the lower 300's yesterday (Why can't an exchange make a good mobile friendly option ... ugh).  It looked to me like whoever was holding it up has several smallish volumes selling into him (2500 - 5000 XMR) before things settled down to the bottom of 300.

I think a big dump might take us back to the upper 200's where my current buy order is  Grin  If not price will probably stay close to hear as long as those walls are up unless bitcoin price shoots up.

No offense but I don't think BCX is trying to trade his reputation for a 15% discount on Monero.

His 500BTC bet offer seems to back up my assumption.
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / League of Legends Winner Take All Doge Tournament on: September 29, 2014, 02:39:18 PM
Soooo wasn't real sure about the forum since this is about doge + betting.  If I need to move it feel free to tell me to.

I was thinking about this this weekend since doge appeals to the younger crowd.  I thought I'd see if anybody was interested.

So my thinking is this. I setup a cool site to track a tournament in LoL. Get a longstanding trusted escrow from bitcointalk to hold doge entries (10,000 doge per team). Goal would be to have 64 entries. Six games, one weekend. Winner takeall of 640,000 doges minus escrow fee.
How many people would be interested in this?

edit: there is no 100 btc at 003, what are you talking about lol

somebody got cold feet ... down to 33btc  Grin  There was like 70 btc at 301 (I think) then 30 more at 300
759  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 29, 2014, 01:32:31 PM
I invite all the trolls to join MEW and then vote on the matters, since if you do not do it, it will become evident to all that you do not own any monero and are just trying to confuse things!

1. I own Monero.

2. I've donated 5% of it (50 XMR) to the devteam.  May go up to 10%.  (Much poorer than you - but I like to feel I've done my part)

3. I have not joined MEW nor do I plan to.

4. I feel you & Amorix try to box people in too hard, try to change reality with your opinions and your buy walls.  I applaud your efforts immensely to support Monero.  But I feel sometimes (maybe because of their wealth?) the whales are trying very VERY hard to create an echo chamber with this coin.  And it's a massive turnoff to me.

5.  If you REALLY want to drive up the price of Monero - get MEW to put up the 500BTC in escrow for the BCX bet  Wink

Next stop 275Ksat.

Anyone wanna guess why. Is it...
 - the bearish market for bitcoin?
 - people waiting to see if BCX threats materialize?
 - the emission, meaning we should just be patient and weather it out?
 - because the core supporters are all way too long in it to continue to give support?
 - is it TRUE?
 - a hellish shitstorm of all of the above?

Next stop is actually 440K satoshis and above.

...

if it wasn't for that 100btc buy wall @ .00300000 we'd be at 250.

hate price manipulation ....  keeps cheap moneros from spreading  Roll Eyes
