341  Other / Meta / Re: The merit system is it a new strategy on: February 05, 2018, 11:35:17 PM
I personally think that the system of merit points that the forum started to work with is launched after a precise study.
A lot of users are making stupid posts with no useful content just to ameliorate their ranks and earn much more money.
The forum becomes full with empty content posts. So i do believe in this new technic which represents a control system that fixes the upgrade criteria.

This thread can be posted on the original merit post or to some threads who's asking for opinions, we don't need another one. Please consider reading before posting.
342  Other / Meta / Re: Please look at what high-rank member doing which their sMerit on: February 04, 2018, 04:45:39 PM
Why just one example ? There are many other examples of senior level members giving merits to new members in bulk for quality posts. Ex: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2828014.0
I don't really see what's wrong with this, this is how the system should work. The OP created a merit-worthy post and people saw it and rewarded him for it, doesn't he deserve it? What do you want? Revoke what the members gave? Why? Are you jealous? Don't be! In time you'll get some merits too, but not with these crap.

This is not of much use to me as I am a vegetarian. However, as an investor this is good news. It will pump the prices as Bitcoins will become more popular.

This new merit system looks too cool even though I have a long way to be Legendary. I might be the unluckiest user. Grin
Think about us. I think a lot of newbies will give up today only. Smiley

No that it not gong to happen. Even to earn with Bitcoins, you need money to invest and poor people cannot afford all this.

In my opinion this is not the right use of Smerit points. It should be given to quality posts by lower rank members as they need it more.

I'm getting tired of quoting. Every piece of post you got there is pretty much posted for activities to rank up, merit system came yet you won't change your ways. Goodluck on ranking-up with those.
343  Other / Meta / Re: Serious issue with the merit system on: February 04, 2018, 11:03:16 AM
People are misusing the merit system in number of ways and it is good that some are getting caught as well. But there is one way which will be hard to detect:

Suppose a new member gets 5-10 merit points for some of his posts in total. Now he gives these points to a enemy here for a short post. This may raise suspicion among the senior members and both members may be given negative trust. Isn't is unjustified for the later member ? How is the staff going to tackle this ?
I don't get what's wrong with these as long as they're merit-worthy:

1. New member giving away his sMerit to a high ranked

2. New member giving away his sMerit to a short post

It's even better for the forum that new members are paying it forward, that they're willing to give their sMerits. Although i get your point that it may be suspicious, at least new members beforehand are making quality post. But if that's the case (same person handling accounts) why didn't the high ranked just posted with his account instead of creating a new one? His account will gain merit + reputation + unsuspicious life.

344  Other / Meta / Re: Merit! I can't beg anyone for it on: February 04, 2018, 10:47:46 AM
The new Merit and Ranking system on bitcointalk is now being discussed more. Some people seems to forget the main reason for the forum - Learn and help others - My main reason of joining bitcointalk was to learn about bitcoin and altcoins from more knowledgeable people and also for me to assist others in the little way i can and i must say that it has been an awesome time here.
The new merit system should not make us forget the main aim of joining the group just because we wanna rank up fast. Do the best you can, post quality topic and contribute to discussion sensibly. If people see your contribution and send you merit fine and if they don't who cares.

I don't mean to be rude but, there are literally tons of posts just like this, you can include your opinion to either one of them. I am not against what you're saying, hell i even support that kind of thinking. But please stop creating more threads. Godspeed.
345  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Merit system be used to incentivise good reporting? on: February 04, 2018, 10:06:36 AM
Just posting a suggestion for the senior members. Considering the huge amount of shitposting in most sub forums, especially the altcoin ones, would it be useful, if one were to incentivise users who report with 100% accuracy? Like reward them with Merits? Benefits would be;

- Less shitposting, scam posts etc
- More vigilant community (especially newbies)

Thanks

Well said

Reporting is optional and I think it is better to keep it the way as it is. You should report to keep the forum clean being a part of it, not for a reward.
In addition, if reporting people would let you have some merit, you'll focus on hunting these shit posters instead of creating quality posts. Which is not aligned with the intention of mods creating a better forum with members who posts with quality and reward them with merit. Although the idea is great, it's just that people would have an alternative in making quality posts.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin lose its value if everyone's using it? on: February 04, 2018, 09:50:26 AM
Why would it lose it's value? If everyone is using bitcoin then it means that everyone had to buy bitcoin one way or another to be able to use it, right?

supply = low(Max Supply: 21,000,000)
demand = high

hence, price will increase.

I totally agree with you. maybe the thinking of OP is too simple because he thinks supply of bitcoin is unlimited. maybe that's what he thinks
I know that the supply of the bitcoin is limited. I forgot what i was thinking a while ago why'd i think that it would have lesser value when everyone got a hold to this. Thanks for the first answer it basically answered everything without much explanation.
347  Other / Meta / Re: I done good posts but not receive any merit on: February 04, 2018, 09:39:01 AM
this system is good, but have to be modified. if i say i post quality posts but who knows who will give Mertis, we can not beg on that.  thats biggest weakness.

sometimes we will stay member forever. but here bitcointalk alternatives will be born rapidly and move away

Re-evaluate yourself and check if you have done and post a merit worthy one. Merit system is about making quality posts so if you're not into that, then do whatever you just said, i only got "move away" so "move away". No one's stopping you, with you gone and other shit posters, bitcointalk would be great again.
348  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any restriction on sending merit poit on: February 04, 2018, 06:34:54 AM
Hello mates i want to clear my confusion is there is any restriction if i send some merit points to any person and he also send me some merit and i again send him some merits.?

For now there aren't any restrictions but if majority of the people started abusing it. I'm sure theymos would immediately respond to it and as ducdr said
Do try cheating the system, new rules will be stricter and more punishments will be implemented on users who try cheating the merit system.

But i'm sure you're educated enough (you even got here) to know that such actions and manners is morally wrong since that would disregard the very essence of the merit system. Or haven't you read the original thread? Didn't you get why the merit system was implemented? Here have a look https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0
349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will Bitcoin lose its value if everyone's using it? on: February 04, 2018, 06:25:15 AM
I'm a little bit concern to the value of bitcoin. Will it decrease if everyone starts using bitcoin, since you know, it would be the standard and nothing would be special to it anymore? Thoughts anyone?
350  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Bounties on: February 04, 2018, 02:20:28 AM
I was just scrolling around Meta, reading about the new merit system and I am seeing so many negative posts complaining about the system that is meant to really improve things around here. I personally am digging the new changes and seeing all of these people uncomfortable just tells me that there is great change occurring.

While I see there are a few threads where users are throwing around their merit to worthy posts, there is still a valid concern about there being a lack of merit to be distributed in relation to how many high-quality posts truly get put out each day by members nobody recognizes. Now this will of course get remedied over time as more merit sources are created and more generous users accumulate merit in their own hands.

However I have a proposal to get the juices flowing and ease some of the fears about distribution. It does not seem to be the world's biggest secret who a few of the merit sources are (Lutpin, for example), and there are many other users with a ton of merit to go around. My proposal is a contest of sorts; we could have users enter their posts or their profiles and after a given amount of time (or every so often) there is/are winner(s) chosen to receive a merit reward. Meaning the greatest poster(s) every week or so would be given a Merit Bounty for their high-quality, significant or contributory posts; preferably from public Merit sources or a pool or merit generated from willing participants around the community.

I'm very interested in thoughts on developing this further, volunteers, contrarians and merit sources are needed. I don't know how you all feel about this, so let me know how you feel; let me know if I've even explained this well enough for you to make up your mind. The parameters are negotiable and discuss-able, but I just have the basic framework and a few different routes/options to play with.
If my memory is correct, TMAN is already doing this. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2825523.0)

There are also other highranks doing this, and even some member. Here's a link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2832127.0) that contains these kinds of contest and such that reward low ranks and even high ranks merits that they deserve.
351  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system= Rubbish posts on: February 03, 2018, 12:15:15 PM
Merit system is introduced to nullified low quality posts in the forum. but something is going exactly opposite to this.
I am seeing more rubbish posts, as everyone is trying to make more and more posts which shows the insecurity among them.
As they all wants to show on the top of the discussion where they have a little opportunity of getting merit points.
Do merit system really make a difference in this forum?

Little by little, yeah. People are starting to post-to-discuss and not just to complete their requirements in campaign. People now are actually interacting and connecting, instead of ignoring the earlier posts. People are now thinking before the post cause they want each post to be meaningful. Because people now, if they want to rank up, need merits.

We can't control people and stop them from making threads (since this is an open forum) and it's not their fault they want to get noticed. But we can remind them not to do this.
352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin tips: Factors that affect bitcoin price on: February 02, 2018, 03:41:27 PM
The media can manipulate many persons mind internationally and it is the media who was the promoter of a very good increase in bitcoin and now lately with the ban news in a few countries they have been a promoter of a very bad decrease in price of bitcoin.
Although it is correct, i would like to emphasize that media can have a huge role or factor for the demand and supply. News may influence people who have 0 knowledge about bitcoin, they just need to butter their words a little and make the subject a little bit interesting then people would try and join the cryptoworld which would increase the value of bitcoin since the supply would decrease. The media can also say negative thoughts that may restrict the viewers in buying one. Thus, lessening the demand making the value of the bitcoin to go down
353  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Negative Trust at Merit System. on: February 02, 2018, 03:14:27 PM
Para saming may mga negative trust diba parang lalong mahirap kaming makakuha ng merit kasi unang una sa lahat na pwede nakami ma judge dahil sa merong pula saming pangalan. Alam ko need namin i improve post namin. Pero pano kung iniimprove na nga pero dahil sa negative trust dpadin kami mabibigyan ng merit. Share some tips. Thanks.
354  Other / Meta / Re: WHY COMPLAIN OF SHIT POSTING? on: February 02, 2018, 01:56:05 PM
I don't think it is logical that the complain of shit posting should get to the roof. My candid reason is that we are the architect of it all. By "we" , I'm trying to be subtle and modest in my position.

The signature campaigns or maybe the managers are the first culprit because when requirement for post per week is placed high, what do you expect?

Some campaign require as much as 40 post per week to be eligible for payment while some have been running for months with 50/60 maximum post (per week) - I mean, even where you state 10/15 minimum and we will pay 60 maximum, it becomes a 'dog race without nor direction'.

I also think that 30 post  with 200 words is challenging. In other words, I have  observed that a certain manager keeps it 'moderate' at 25 post per week and that can work.

However, I don't intend to hype any manager (that was why I left out names and campaigns) but to profer and project an advise on how shit posting can be curtailed.

My advise therefore is that, 25 post can help especially with the merit regime.

I dont think why not. First off, this is a forum and what does a forum mean?  It is a place or opportunity for discussing a subject.

There will be no discussion of subject if every post is a shit post, if the majority of posts are made just to complete their signature campaigns. There's nothing wrong with 25+ posts per week if the posts are sensible, healthy and relevant to the topic. It would actually be better if that's the case.
355  Other / Meta / Re: my opinion about the future of this forum, correct me if i am wrong ? on: February 01, 2018, 03:10:43 PM
we all know this forum is a very big forum. i have put me hoping this bitcointalk.org can develop quickly i hope this bitcointalk is not just for chatting but maybe this forum can be developed again like to be organization or place of sale and buy or maybe there can be a place of storage coin/wallet so according to you how or maybe you have another opinion to develop this forum ! or maybe I have very much opinion about this forum.

This is not an exchange but a forum. Forum is a place where people discuss about something. I think even if the owner has interests in making a trading platform, it should be done on a different domain. Regarding the future of the forum, I see that it will only get better in terms of discussions with time. The owner of the forum has already took the much needed decision in the form of merit system to eliminate spam posts.

Well said. First off, when you said "developed again like to be organization or place of sale and buy" this forum was never made for such purposes. It was made for people who like a healthy discussion about bitcoin, thus bitcointalk. Second, the future of this forum is certainly going to a future with less shit posters (sorry for the language), and more quality posters.

Also, i suggest you stick to you local board. Although i know that you're trying your best to speak in english, which is nice(but there's always room for improvement) it's just that it's really hard to understand gibberish.
356  Other / Meta / Re: Level of Difficulty of Merit Points to Newbies on: February 01, 2018, 01:55:22 PM
we are all in changes, it is very hard to rank up now because of this merit system, but this merits system is for good, I mean, by this new rules/requirements our forum will less spammer and shitposts for the next month. we are all force to make a more quality posts to gain merits so it Is not too difficult to gain merits point to newbies like you, we are all required to make a quality post to gain merits every time. if you don't make one you still remain at your current rank.

To be able to up rank do we really need a merit now? I just got into a Member rank with a 0 point merit so what is the minimum merits in able to go through a Full member rank?

Yup, for the newbies they need to have merits to rank up now. Take a look at this thread where the rank system is post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0 It will be a hard time ranking up now. But in the other side it good to avoid spammers that only wants to rank up without quality posts.
So my rank up depends on the merit? Do you mean Ihave to gain enough merit to be a Member??? I cant move up just because of activities?
Correct. You need someone to give you merits in order for a jr member like you to rank up as a member. Ranking up can now be determined through your activities and merits, instead of activities only. Merits are just like activities but instead of it is automatically given to you each post by the forum, it is manually given to you by the members depending on how merit-worthy they think your post is.
357  Other / Meta / Re: Begging for merit on: February 01, 2018, 11:29:46 AM
I think begging for merit is demeaning, and not something that members should do.
I've started to ignore members who beg for merit in a post. This means that I can't see their posts now or in the future, and I will not be able to award them sMerits regardless of the quality of their posting.

I'm sad that I have to do this, but there seems to be a new trend developing - posters cut and paste an article, and then beg for merit for doing it.
Plagiarism is not acceptable. It's deceiving others that you're making a quality post by grabbing other peoples work. I'm quite happy that people are starting to watch those guys, rewarding them with a sweet permaban.
358  Other / Meta / Re: Merit donation thread on: February 01, 2018, 11:25:39 AM
Based on all the merit threads I'm now starting one were we can help donate merits to people who deserves it.

If you have made a lot of quality posts, but don't got the merits you think you deserved, you need to copy the links to all your quality posts you made into a single post in here and other users can decide if you deserves merit or not.

Only posts made after the merit system was activated are eligible for the merit donation thread.

I encourage Merit sources to stay active in this thread.

Edit: It actually are posts like this from Merit sources it seems. No point in using this thread anymore.

I don't think the term "donation" is appropriate to those who deserves merit. Perhaps change it into a more positive word like "award" or "prize". But this probably doesn't matter anymore. Lol
359  Other / Meta / Re: How to get merit points ? on: February 01, 2018, 09:12:29 AM
As far as I know, we just need to improve how our posts can be useful for other members and have the nature of education or information good and new ,,
Previous with Activity we can go up rank, now added a new rule in the presence of merit ,,
The presence of merit may want to show the quality of the Bitcointalk forum, so not much spam etc ,,
In this forum can share knowledge and even share solutions ,,

How do you think, how to get better merit ?
There are just couple of things you need to think when posting or replying on threads. Such as, do you have sufficient knowledge about the topic? Can you contribute a unique answer to the topic? Etc.

If so, then go on reply as much as you want. But if not, it just mean that there are still things you don't know. And what do you do when you don't know something? (Besides asking another opinion through posts) that's right, you read. You research on the topic and try to understand it, when you're done reading and you understand the topic well then you may reply.

But beware. If what you think is already posted by another member and was elaborated clearly and concisely, please, do not reply once more cause things will get redundant. Also, when you research don't even think about copy then pasting it, it is called plagiarism and the forum is strict about this. To avoid plagiarism, cite your sources.
360  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk issue! on: February 01, 2018, 08:52:48 AM
why my all posts are deleted by forum.forum ban my account so i creat this account and forum doing again..deketing my post..🙄😏
Why did the forum banned your account? Don't tell me that you have no clue because moderators would not delete someone's posts without any reason/s. Maybe someone reported you. From my point of view, if you post these kind of posts (This very post here) i can say that you're not a quality poster and a native english speaker. But that doesn't stop you from creating a quality post. I suggest you stick to your local board.

But if really don't know why and you think you have not done something wrong you may refer to this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 . And check if you violated a rule.
