321  Other / Meta / Re: Is new bitcointalk update with merit is fair? on: February 09, 2018, 04:10:01 AM
I agree with you, and I also have a suggestion, what if giving a quality post merit is a moderator? So that determines the post is good or not, and worthy given merit or not. it depends on the moderator.
do you agree Huh  Let's discuss this
because the merit system, my account can not raise the rank, stopped in jr member
i have answered a similar question a while ago. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2906553.msg29890821#msg29890821 here's my answer.

My answer then would still be my answer now. A Moderator's job isn't to check all posts and see if there's a merit-worthy one, they appointed "Merit Sources" that would do this job instead of them.

oh i just realized that 'tis also you that asked the question a while ago, creating another thread. Nvm. Stop with the whining and go improve your ways, it is the only way. And PS: don't blame the merit system, blame yourself.
322  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Interest check: Paid papers, schoolworks etc. on: February 08, 2018, 11:18:12 PM
Hi guys. I'll be willing to accept payments in btc ot php thru coins.ph.
Nice idea para sa mga gustong kumita, ang kaso magiging tamad lalo ang mga mag aavail niyan since may kakayahan silang mag bayad. Pero okay lang din naman kasi buhay naman nila yon. Ako willing ako... to join your side of the coin (yung babayaran) para gumawa ng schoolworks  Grin
323  Other / Meta / Re: 2 weeks after on: February 08, 2018, 11:07:38 PM
Nice to see people talking to each other but if they talked on something more meaningful, it would have better.
If they talked then we wouldn't have merit. I don't see which part of my topic is funny.
These " One week after merit system", "2 weeks after" and so on are funny.
My first choice was "merit wars : theymos strikes backKiss
Please make it so. Then for next week, "merit wars: return of satoshi" ooooooohhh stoked
324  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: February 08, 2018, 11:00:00 PM
Hello good day. My bitcointalk forum activity was updated to 126 but my status hasn't changed from MEMBER to FULL MEMBER. What could possibly be the reason for this?, given I have crossed the threshold to attain the rank of full member. Thanks.

I am assuming that you ended up making a post and immediately ended up looking at your rank. You will need to give it an hour since it gets updated every hour.
Nani ?! There's this thing called merits now, and you need those to rank up. If you still don't know it, try to read and understand this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
325  Other / Meta / Re: Do you need merit now to rank up? on: February 08, 2018, 10:51:05 PM
I'm now Member rank, would I become Full member at 130 points activity or need 500 merit too?
500 merits is a requirement for the Hero Member not full. We're both members, 120 activities and a 100 merits is all we need.

120 merit would be enough to become full member but it will be hard if you are not contributing in forum..
If you made a post which is long post and not useful for readers i think they will ignore your thread and its hard to get any merit for others so always be sure that what you are posting is useful...
maybe you're talking about activities? 120 activities and 100 merit.
326  Other / Meta / Re: question. on: February 08, 2018, 10:44:35 PM
whether the rules about merit can change?
i think theymos did say that there can be changes in the future including the decay of sMerits(if necessary), but i cant reckon where i have read about that. try to search it.
327  Other / Meta / Re: search functions? on: February 08, 2018, 10:28:38 PM
Is there any way to search or filter a forum by topic start date posting?  I want to see the newest most recent threads (not most recent posts) within a forum?
yeah i think there is, is it this? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2817248.0 try to read this. I think this has the answer to your problem.
328  Other / Meta / Re: Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 10:20:40 PM
I have seen some people who have earned merit and most of them got it from creating a new topic. but not all new topics can get merit, only the really useful topics that get it
True, you can get in those if you created an interesting one or catches the attention to most readers. But please, only create topics whenever needed. Posting a topic that can be replied on to other threads makes things worse, it increases the spam therefore, decreasing the discussion. That's why i'm also worried this topic can be moved to other threads.
329  Other / Meta / Re: very difficult to get merit on: February 08, 2018, 10:13:29 PM
what about the merit directly from the moderator? Those who determine whether our posts deserve a merit or not
Though moderators can't determine if our posts deserve a merit or not one by one, they assigned these thing called "merit source" to do this job. They can pretty much distinguish merit-worthy posts to not. If you are thinking why you don't receive some it's because you're doing this for the money. You just reply and create threads which can be posted on other threads to lessen the spam and you don't interact/discuss thoughts with others. Try to do that more.
330  Other / Meta / Re: Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 09:59:52 PM
Should there actually be the guide to earning merit? I mean, it's not like something collectible or requires a special approach to get it.
Nope, this is not required but there are people who are clueless, thinking that they're making quite good posts but are not receiving merits, this thought can be a good start.

Just try to write quality posts and don't pay attention to it, otherwise you'll overcomplicate your post because you're focusing on earning merit.
Thank you for the advise, i'll be keeping this in mind! Hope other newbies notice this as well.  Smiley
331  Other / Meta / Re: Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 09:48:08 PM
This is what I usually consider when posting and replying to threads, three easy and simple things to consider when posting. This may be common-sense but I hope this helps.

Steps:

1. Pick a topic.
2. Know the topic.
3. Answer the topic.
I agree with your opinion. that's very clear, thank you!
I'm trying to help you create a flowchart diagram "Guide to earning merits", to save time!
sorry if there is less Smiley
success for you !

I just realized that there would only be four components user then the 3 things i gave, which would be just a while loop. But hey thanks a lot! i'll be keeping this in case my friends ask, i'll just show this to them instead of making a lot of explanation. i really appreciated this!
332  Other / Meta / Re: Merit reactions for New Members: Why Merit & sMerit is a forum failure on: February 08, 2018, 11:54:06 AM
I wish the sponging immigrant shitposters would clear off and give us back Bitcoin Talk.

I use the word "immigrant" with its new meaning of "economic migrant".

Or you can shorten it to "emmigrant" ? LOL.

Let's face the fact! Most of us (especially new comers) are bounty hunters. We are here to earn coins and tokens from bounty stakes like my friends before us and their friends before them. And this Merit System and sMerit prohibit us to earn more and as much as higher ranks.

This is a forum, you should treat it as a place to talk about the topic, not for making money from it, although getting money is nice, but you treated the forum wrong.

Quote
English isn't our native and secondary language, most of us it's the least and poorest language. Due to this disability we cannot join good signature bounty campaigns because bounty managers won't accept local language board comments.

Then learn english. Im not a good english speaker too, but i dont whine about it, and to blame bounty managers who doesnt want to take local board posts is beyond hillarious to read, you re a worker and you want to set the rules? come one, a worker is not worth anything beside his/her posts, if you can not make one then there will be someone who can replace you, in fact there are many people who can.

Quote
most of us (sort of all of us) have multiple forum accounts especially bounty hunters due to a lot of bounty campaigns running at the same time, the more the accounts the more signature bounty campaigns to join and the more coins and tokens we could get, the higher we earn money because everyone wants to earn money, right?

Wow he/she just admitted that he/she has another account, can not imagine how things will happen to you now if someone decided to trace it. And this merit system serves the forum right to diminish people like you with your alt account. And not all people want money in this forum, and if some people want money, the best way is to earn it right, not by doing some low things like alt-accounts.

Quote
posting comments is a part of complying requirements for signature bounty campaigns we are participated and nothing more. If they does spam and flood - deleting comments is sufficient and enough.

You know what? Spamming and flooding posts is a disease, and you know what is best for a disease? A Prevention , merit will prevent that, but deleting posts will just be a cure, we can get rid of it but it will come back and not to mention the cost we spend to cure will be high as f (time, energy, money).

Oh dam some of my reactions are here, i wrote too long and it took my time. Sorry for the repetitions.

This forum is not solely build for bounties, this is a place where people share their knowledge about crypto.
If you really want to earn money then find a job and work your ass off. Be more productive, rather than you sit there and rant about the merit system.
Truth! Plus this is privately owned, be thankful you're here and you're posting for free.

Man this is an english speaking forum, there's no other way than to speak in english. You should know that before joining, or ain't it obvious? If you can't speak in english there are these things called "local boards", you should check those out.

The forum don't need more members, we need quality discussions. Earning here is just an option, this is not a job fair. Besides the forum is named Bitcointalk not Bitcoinearn.

Wrong. Although this is an old account, this is my only account. I am very much undecided in joining here before. But here i am, i started at the bottom with 0 merit but i have some now which is nice.

That would be a stressful task. Why would you do this if you can prevent people from spamming.

[li] there are so many things behind this Merit failure but the only truth is, for those who doesn't care about ranking ASAP, doesn't care on earning coins and tokens and doesn't care about everything are the ones who agreed that Merit is fine, and the rest of us (new comers) we are ruined. [/li][/list]
That's because not all are focused on earning, cause you know, people are here to talk not to earn. Earning is just a bonus.

This is getting redundant with the language barrier. Just stop. If you reslly want to join, why don't you compromise instead of whining.
334  Other / Meta / Re: Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 11:12:09 AM
You are good at adding the fluff but do we really need it ? If everyone did the research as per you mentioned in step 2, it will take them an hour to come up with a reply. It will be good for the forum but practically many members will not be able to give so much time voluntarily.
I do not need someones approval for things that i will say.

If everyone did some research it would be better for the forum you think so too right? Posts would be more sensible and this 'forum' would be more like a forum (people discussing instead of people just replying and won't even interact). Let's stop at "it would be better for the forum", let's not think about the practicallity of doing research. See if people really want to gain merits and improve their ways, they will have time to do so.
335  Other / Meta / Re: Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 10:52:33 AM
You wrote such a big post about such obvious thing, I am just surprised how you could find so many words for explainment of the most simple way: find a topic, reply it if you know the point. That's all!
I count my own comments just like you have said, but why I still not get a Merit then? Grin I think other users feel the same about their posts. So, your strategy doesn't work in many cases.
I'm also surprised! I think it's already in me haha, things that are simple in my mind translates a lot when i try to speak and long thoughts becomes short. But don't worry! If you think you're making good posts i'm sure people would notice it little by little, be patient, it will soon pay off. If you think you're doing everything and still people don't notice your posts, then shake things up a bit. Maybe try doing unique, i tried to make a flow chart about this post but i don't have the time to do so, try those things, be yourself, be unique.

This strategy is not full-proof this is just what i do, i don't think there's anything special about this. I am only paying forward. But it would be awesome for me if i could help others in little ways like this.

Thank you for sparing your time with me. Hope you can gain merits soon! Smiley
336  Other / Meta / Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 06:07:11 AM
I've been saving this somewhat guide for a while now since i am not sure where to put this. I also thought that posting this would increase the number of merit related thread in the Meta section, another reason why i'm hesitating about this. But here goes.

We all know that the only way to get a merit is by hoping for others to give us some, provided that we produce quality posts. Some people believe that they're making quality posts but can't reckon why they don't receive any merits.

Although I don't have much, but surely I have been blessed than most by some members and now I want to pay it forward. I have started from the bottom just like most of you that's why I want to help those who are clueless on what to do.

This is what I usually consider when posting and replying to threads, three easy and simple things to consider when posting. This may be common-sense but I hope this helps.

Steps:

1. Pick a topic.

Picking a topic to post on to may be the hardest part in the guide but any topic of your choice will do! I usually pick topics that are fresh(post that have few views and replies). Why? Because it would be an advantage if you answered the topic first, there would be no restraints and you can freely say what you want to say. Replying to the thread would be like a plain canvas waiting for unlimited possibilities. Picking an old topic is not quite bad either, especially if the topic is really interesting, but replies would be limited since most of the ideas are already laid off, including what you may be thinking and if this is the case, better not reply anymore and just pick another topic since this would just cause spamming of threads.

In addition, if you picked a fresh topic, people who are viewing the thread will see your reply on top plus it won't be burried with tons of incoming replies. Thus, giving your post a safe and sweet spot for any credit-giver.

2. Know the topic.

Question: Do you know the topic?
If yes: Good! Proceed to step 3.
If no: Research on the topic or go back to step 1.

Researching about the topic doesn't just mean reading an article or two, it can also be(but not required) watching videos about the topic or viewing some infographic about it. Anything goes as long as you understand and learn something new. If you think you're knowledgable enough to answer then proceed to step 3.

3. Answer the topic.

After researching, with your own words, try to answer the topic. Remember that answers may be short or long, it need not to be technical nor scientific. It just need to be clear, concise, and most of all sensible for everyone to understand. And don't even think about plagiarizing an article saying that you've made a good post, because people read, and if people noticed that you just copy/pasted an article then be ready for the consequences. Are you really trying to risk your account for some merits? Merits can be earned anytime but activities, reputation, and trusts takes time.

Now that you have answered the topic, be confident on what you have wrote and try not to think much about receiving merits. Continue on doing quality posts and im sure, little by little, people would notice and reward you for that. That would be all, thank you and godspeed!
337  Other / Meta / Re: Competition merits reward, need sponsors Legendary, Heroes, Sr., Fully on: February 08, 2018, 05:50:55 AM
And now the most important thing I can do is organize everything, but I'm just a member and I have 1 merits ((for this I need sponsors Legendary, Heroes, Sr., Fully, in general sponsors.) It can be agreed with the administration in principle, so that guarantee of the distribution of Merit later.
I ask to express their opinions.
First thing that came to my mind was you're telling sponsors to merit you and you'll manage the distribution of merits. And it felt like you're begging for merit nonchalantly.

338  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system is not working, failed! on: February 07, 2018, 12:42:05 PM
You are right, not all the quality posts are being recognized by most of the people here in forum, the merit system will fail and im sure theymos would do something about this,as he promised he will adjust this when most of the new folks find it hard to get merits. The only good thing about the merit system is,most of the spammers lately are being forced to post quality contents for them to get some merit points.
Gaining merits are supposedly hard, if gaining merits would be easy then the mods' preventive measures for spammers and rank farmers would be negated. Yes it is hard but it's not impossible. Plus the "only good thing" you said is a huge improvement for the members as well as the forum.
339  Other / Meta / Re: 50+ merit rewards on: February 06, 2018, 11:52:25 PM
We take into consideration few things here:

1) What is someone abuses the merit system with a hacked account. If the original member gets account back, will he get those merits back to spend on quality posts.

2) If someone did this one day after the merit system, it is possible he might be testing. How will such cases be differentiated from abusers.

1. I don't recall reading about these kind of post, but i don't think the original member would get back the abused merit.

2. I don't think it would be hard to differentiate an abuser to not. Who would try and test to give out 50 merits at a single post? Only abusers would do that right? Unless the OP made a very well written posts which he deserve the 50 merits for it, that i think, is acceptable.

340  Other / Meta / Re: Merits as requirement. on: February 06, 2018, 10:41:47 PM
Campaigns just won't accept participants that can't have links on their banners
Hmm yes true the low ranks

which will then push value of said accounts upwards and discourage users from giving out merit.
Which then increases the value of said accounts (the low ranks?) Why though? If what i understand was correct, then you're contradicting what you've said.
