About the docker:
To be honest I coudn't make it work and I've been running three separate Lisk delegate nodes in the last two months, on five different server setups. Smiley
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 25, 2016, 09:31:35 PM
Then the delegates and the rest of this community should be aware that https is not secure enough, if at all, and should not encourage its usage.
This is a decentralized network, that anyone can run a Node on.
You simply can't enforce anything like this, the best the community can do is offer advise.
And believe me, there were many discussions, guides, live help, etc about security and other issues. But still...
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 25, 2016, 09:24:20 PM
This node is vulnerable for man-in-the middle attacks. We suggest to have at least SSL installed. Additionally, no matter how trusted an individual is. Everyone can still hack his account on his server provider and change the files. The Lisk team won't endorse 3rd party nodes ever. Smiley

Free certificates for https https://letsencrypt.org/

Most delegates know about this, and was encouraged to use it, since almost day one.
There is even a guide how to do it on a delegate node.

284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 25, 2016, 09:20:25 PM
One more thing, that I find interesting.

Most of the potential delegates have their nodes up already. Most of them have web UI enabled, at least some of them with SSL installed.
I myself had three nodes up 20 minutes after launched (and still do), with domain, SSL and everything.
But for one we didn't want to share the addresses that much, don't wanting to be DDoSed, also you can't really know what and who you an trust yet. So we had tons for serves, and web wallets you just didn't know about it or been able to trust them.

By the way this is how and why some were able to send coins without problem while everyone else was struggling. We spent the last two months learning about Lisk, we knew what to do. I think this is more than fair. The better informed you are the best position you are in.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 25, 2016, 09:14:02 PM
Sorry guys. The installation routine is way to complicated. Ok as a developer it is no problem, but you targeted DAUs as well with the ICO.
They have a lot of work to do. A lot. Making a more user friendly local wallet is one of them.
The main problem is that even with this month long delay it simply wasn't enough time to do some things that otherwise would've been done by launch.
It was unexpected how much improvement Crypti needed that was essential to do before Lisk launch, so development effort was redirected by this from other thinks like making user friendly solutions.

Those of us who followed the testnet and dealt with running, testing, updating, etc the delegate nodes, it wasn't a suprise, but the opposite. We considere it a very successful launch, because the network held up, the nodes are synced, Lisk handled a great amount of transactions at launch and since then.

I'm understand why ppl are angry. They expected a finished product (for some reason), that works flawlessly, yet they didn't get it, from their perspective.

This could have been avoided or at least mitigated if a precise time to launch (with timer and everything) wasn't given.
Ironically it also didn't help that both big altocoin exchange was ready and even pre-announced adding Lisk.
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 25, 2016, 12:46:11 PM
The whole blockchain seems to be stuck for over 6 hours now, so the whole LISK infrastructure is down.
No, it's not. It's working just fine.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 22, 2016, 09:57:32 PM
why do there need to be fees for like passphrase setup. of course for transactions but others why. who gets those fees
From the networks point of view a transaction is a transaction. Doesn't matter if delegate registration, sending Lisk or setting up second passhprase.
Fees are needed to avoid spam.

If any transaction is free on the blockchain it can used to attack it, slow it down, bloat the blockchain by creating hundreds or thousands of transactions every minute.

If there is a few an attacker can still do it, but it would cost him. The ideal fee sturcture is one that is cheap enough for legitime use, but too costly to spam the chain.

The quality of the posts in this thread where really low, and this caused ppl to start posting.
There are a few harcore shrill and FUDer who going at it all day, every day.
But what just happening right now, shows just how many ppl still reading this thread, and overal part of this community.

The meetup is going on in chat, and new ppl constantly joining, more than 1600 at the moment.

I also noticed the silent majority here previously, when someone posted one single link to my delegate voting tool, and based on github user stats, it caused more visitors than came from chat channels and Lisk forum.

So in short, don't believe that the Lisk community amounts to the people you see posting here regularly. It's much, much larger.

Massive dump at launch to buy DAO and WAVES for sure.
Hold, or sell a little and diversify your investment portfolio.

What is weird, is that i've seen boths WAVES and DAO dev meetings, coding in real-time,answer questions.
Never saw Lisk dev meeting around....

Good points

He is looking at the wrong places.
Or (if you check his previous posts) just FUDing.

Watching this, we'll see what happens.
But I don't feel that warm and fuzzy about the original Crypti team, and their previous performance.

Please excuse me if this has been asked before. On which exchanges will Lisk trade once launched? Are there any confirmations of some established exchanges already? well I suppose most exchanges will trade it soon enough anyway

Anyone? Smiley

It's up to the exchanges what and when they add something.
Further the major exchanges won't confirm adding a coin before they do it.

So in sort, Lisk will be on exchanges, probably major ones, but we won't know it until it's there.

I'm afraid (meaning I'd bet serious money on it) that you are severely underestimating how much list it will take to get into 101.

You'll have zero chance to get near top 300 with 500 000.

What is the biggest Dapp idea for lisk at this moment ??
If you'd have a good idea that you planning to develop, would you tell it to everyone?

I would! Cheesy But I'm usually very open with my ideas.
And Rise thanks you for that. Smiley

Okay, I know that most of you are just saying thing with an agenda (jeremy grol you seriously have no shame at all?), but for others, a few things you should know:

There is zero change that the launch will be postponed until september. Zero.
There is no reason behind the idea, other than market manipulation. Something that the Lisk team no (and shouldn't have) interest in.

They however need access to the ICO money to continue development, (not to mention promotion and stuff) and they need it as soon as possible.
I'm pretty sure they already spending more of their own money on this than they should have in the last few months.

So yes, they are still aiming for 24th and most likely will make it.
But you should also know, that this is less certain than it was a week ago. It may be tight, and any further unforseen problems will likely force them to delay. It shouldn't and most likely won't happen, but it's software development, stuff happens.

Back to those with an agenda:
Get your big boy pants on and try to be reasonable. Lisk is being released as soon as possible, not in september, but you also want it to work as it should so it allows you to seemlessly send them to an exchange and sell it, forget about it, and stop bothering us with your nonsense here.

I'm still undecided ,about wich delegate to vote  Roll Eyes  , to be honest I didn't had time to check what candidates  can offer ,,
No worries, they (I mean we) will be here to campaign full force when the time comes.
Poor price speculators and various FUDers will have a hard time getting in a word edgewise with all the vote solisitating, you'll see.

yay we have 700 pages  on bitcointalk we are officialy the best crypto coin in the world we should be worth more than eth now because we have 700pages well done people
Yay. And you alone are responsible for at least 200 worthless page of it! Good job.

Meanwhile ppl in the chat are exited 0.2.0 is about the be launched.
And there are long discussions about the future of Lisk, Daaps, development funds, marketing, delegate responsibilities, security, etc.
Not here though. Never here.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 26, 2016, 06:23:31 PM
Seriously people? Basicly all ICOs had this policy in the last two years. Developers get funds after succesful launch of coin.
Why? Because othewise all people tend to do is scream scam, so it doesn't work any other way.
Welcome to crypto.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 25, 2016, 10:12:28 PM
They have set the date for the 24th...that's the date it should be. If they are ready say the 17th, they should NOT launch the 17th. That's completely unprofessional.
Sorry, I was unclear, I should've specified based on the thing I quoted.  I'm sure they won't launch sooner it would be stupid move, unprofessional as you said. What I meant that they for sure will finish all necessary changes and tests much sooner. They left a much greater buffer this time, at least learned from previous mistake. Smiley
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 25, 2016, 09:55:52 PM
Don't be surprised if they came with an early launch but they set on 24th to be sure that not delay it again.
I wouldn't be suprised.
This is the only thing I pissed about and think Max screwed up so far. They overpromised in terms of deadline.
They should've known any date that they utter (even when apr 11. were said as tentative) will be viewed as set in stone. Never should've annonuced any deadline originally. "We will release launch Lisk after necessary improvements of the Crpyti cpde and careful testing. It should be at least two weeks but no more than three months after ICO ends. We will let you know two weeks before."

Thats it, and even that is too specific and constraining. I understand the reasoning for providing a sort deadline and a date as soons as possible, but it's way too big of a risk with so many unknowns, and it bit them in the ass.

It won't matter that much in the long run as no one will care about this delay in two months, but all this stupidity here is still annoying, and a direct result of this
