341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Airdrops and ICOs doing it, worth it? on: October 16, 2017, 04:03:34 PM
For now the top ones are really worth. They're somewhat of a novelty still, but at some point everyone will be participating in these and they won't be as profitable...
342  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we totally eliminate all the banks in this world? on: October 16, 2017, 03:56:51 PM
No, and I really liked Antonopoulos' comparison as to why. The car has been around for ~100 years. Before that we had the carriage. If you go to Central Park and take a ride in a carriage with your girlfriend, you still can. Same thing with banks. They will probably stay around as tools for a niche market. The problem isn't really your local banks that give out high interest loans. The really big problems come from central banks, which are pretty much above the law right now and the ones who make or break economies.

This sounds like the perfect way to spread a keylogger to snatch people's coins.
344  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-10] Mastercard CEO Attacks Bitcoin, Finds Solace in Government Cryptos on: October 11, 2017, 08:51:04 PM
Bitcoin is meant to be a digital currency and can still be attacked as it has no powerful allies among the elites, at least not yet. But that's not the case for eth. It's getting more powerful by the day though the EEA. This guy along with Jamie Dimon and other crypto haters will have their rug swept from under them.
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who can destroy Bitcoin ? on: October 11, 2017, 08:41:00 PM
Lots of unrealistic people in this thread. Bitcoin can be rendered unusable by a number of factors...mining cartels, obsolescence due to impractical fees/wait times, government feeling threatened by it and a coordinated global effort to stop fiat injection into the system. But the technology is definitely here to stay. Bitcoin dying would set back mass blockchain adoption and interest for years.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin truly decentralized? on: October 11, 2017, 08:23:01 PM
It's not really decentralized. I'd say it's become less decentralized by the year since 2011 up 'till now. I don't think it can be helped, though. Not until it reaches a state where upgrades will not be necessary for years and there will be no need for any active dev team.
347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: hackers cause chaos on: October 08, 2017, 04:55:14 PM
It will get better over time. There are still those that clone credit cards and make huge profits. These are people that take advantage of other people's ignorance and carelessness. It's somewhat easier within the crypto ecosystem, due to its nature. People are throwing large amounts of cash for a couple words written in a pdf, interaction is not user friendly, so on and so on. It will get better as crypto goes forward, given that it won't collapse. An overwhelming amount of scams and fraudulent behavior can turn off the truly big fish. I have faith that these things will be addressed with time, though.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum in 5 years on: October 08, 2017, 04:35:34 PM
Depending on the state of politics within Bitcoin, I can see Ethereum overtaking it in terms of marketcap if this infighting and forking will continue. At this point we are still in the early phase of public adoption, and those involved are somewhat familiar with this little "civil war", but a couple years down the line this has got to stop, otherwise confidence will be shifted towards the younger and more effective brother. I also have a lot more faith in Buterin than those involved with governance of Bitcoin as of now. Core is an embarrassment, and the rest are in it just for the money.
349  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin be regulated! on: October 08, 2017, 04:25:32 PM
to regulate bitcoin, I think it will be a very difficult thing. because bitcoin does have an anonymous and decentralized nature. so the government will find it difficult to track bitcoin.

At some point, there will have to be some sort of compromise. Otherwise they will try their best to stop fiat being invested into the ecosystem. And frankly that would set us back years, if not decades.
350  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Did Bitmain just declare war on BTC? on: October 01, 2017, 03:39:04 PM
agreed 100% Bitmain does not represent all Chinese miners. Other asians also don't like them.

And them doing this.......this is very bad.

Bad how? I don't get it. They're not forcing you to use bch or to buy their miners. Go buy from innosilicon or giga watt. You'll learn to appreciate bitmain.

why arent there companies other than bit-main.

There are. None of them are as good and as trustworthy as bitmain. I'm not shilling for them or anything, I just know how other companies treat you. Their support is kinda shit, but they ship in time, and their products are always as good if not better than advertised.
