141  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is 2018 the downfall of bitcoin? on: January 23, 2018, 09:43:09 PM
*Newbie Here!* Because of fluctuations in the value of bitcoin, is 2018 going to be the biggest downfall of bitcoin? What do you think?

Go through the list on this website: https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoinobituaries/. See how many times people thought it was the end. We could go through a 90% crash today and I still wouldn't doubt the badger. It'll keep coming back. Might fade into obscurity at some point, probably due to some better version of itself, but I don't think it'll ever die.

It's looking cool and all, but what is the purpose of this coin? What's the actual use case here? I'm not seeing anything that might give away the scope. The name is rather confusing as well. What's a forge got to do with anything, in this case particularly?
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: REBLLION - REBLLIOUS - REBL on: January 18, 2018, 07:34:08 PM
REBL was given free as airdrop in december 2017. Why u buy it? Who whanted got it free but you buy - whats wrong with u guy?

Why are you here? I reported you for spam, but it should be for stupidity. REBL is a legit project with a good community and active devs. PRL was also given for free, why do people buy it? Because that's the actual purpose of the token, you muppet.

No spam - it't true about free REBL token

I was not contesting the fact that it was handed out through an airdrop. I was questioning the last part of his post. "Who whanted got it free but you buy - whats wrong with u guy?". If that's not being a dumbass, then I don't know what is, honestly.

145  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Bitconnect SCAM - DO NOT BUY BITCONNECTX on: January 17, 2018, 10:57:17 PM
https://bitconnect.co/system-news/95/bitconnect-update-regarding-the-changes-to-lending-and-exchange-functions/
I stand corrected actually. Still don't appreciate the method they went about this.

Well, lending is closed, sad news.
Internal exchange is going to operate, not sure will it be possible or not...
BitconnectX is going to become an exchange platform.
So do you really think that Bitconnect is directly responsible in BCC price fall?

Jesus, dude. Are you really this gullible? Can they really trick you into believing that this is not a scam? Hats off to them in this case. They even made a SECOND token for this supposed exchange. And why does it need a new website? It's a textbook scam. You people got screwed over and due to your inability to accept that, you're deluding yourselves into believing this will have some sort of positive outcome. You really shouldn't be playing with money. You might end up killing yourself over losing your house or something like that.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP] Otho Network | Secure Crypto Payment Platform | 54 Airdrop Rounds on: January 17, 2018, 06:57:16 PM
The idea is sound, no question about that. I wanna see the execution as well, but from the looks of it you're heading down the right path. I will be investing in your project for the long term.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain is releasing a 815GH/s Blake(2b) miner called the AntMiner A3 on: January 17, 2018, 06:08:08 PM
Is it true that they only allowed 1 per account? If that's true, they're washing some of the sins they committed with the D3. They've never delivered this fast though. Which leads me to believe that they're really trying their hardest to bankrupt the competition.

What is the purpose of the token? Why blockchain for something like this? For one to invest in your project, these are essential questions.
149  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] 125$ Coupon from Bitmain on: January 13, 2018, 06:15:27 PM
Make me an offer. There is no escrow needed for people with positive rep. Accepting dash/eth.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: January 13, 2018, 06:11:08 PM
If we thought the instructions for updating software on the A5 through the TF card reader was bad. Wait until you see the instructions for the newest mandatory hardware update PDF titled "Mandatory hardware fix to avoid overheating in A5 dashmaster". It's actually hilariously poorly written.

Any other legitimate company would offer a paid recall of their product and fix their overheating hardware issue to maintain their reputation and trust. I guess since it has been made clear that all their customers are dissatisfied and angry at Innosilicon, I guess they figure they have nothing to lose by issuing their latest update requiring the customers to do it themselves.

Apparently their warranty seal means nothing if they are demanding that customers actually open up their miners and fuck with very intricate components Cheesy Not that it matters to me because mine came with broken warranty seals anyways Roll Eyes

I'm surprised that my A5 is actually hashing nicely at 33 GH/s. Everything they do is such a facepalm that it seems like a miracle that they actually managed to create the worlds most efficient Dash miner (commercially available at the time of this post).

Also, changing topic, more A5's are popping up on eBay. The one I saw today was selling as a "Buy it now" / "Free shipping" for $5300 US... Ouch.

I seriously lost it when I saw the email. I will never buy from them again.

For me, I've struggled to even receive compensation for a PSU that was dead on arrival in November 2017. Of course, I promptly bought a new one on Amazon to get the A5 operational for $190.

They only want to send me a coupon for $60 as they clearly do not stand behind any "warranty" that they list on their website. Considering how much money I've spent on the A5, the idea that they wouldn't offer full compensation for the whole PSU or a ship a new unit is beyond amazing. Add to that all of the issues with the actual miner, I hope no one else is foolish enough to send this company another penny. Bitmain 100% from here on out. They are not perfect, but they are MUCH better than Innosilicon.
Wow. There's got to be legal action that we could be taking when it comes to things like this. They can't just guarantee a warranty and back out when anybody goes needs it.

I've actually never tested my PSU that came with it because I already had a APW3++ on hand that I'm using for the A5.. I wonder if mine works! Huh

Even the last update should be covered under warranty seeing as it's mandatory. I bet that now that we open up our miners (those of us that have sealed warranty stickers) to do the latest hardware update, then they are going to start saying that we voided our warranty because the seals are broken.

I've never heard of a company that blatantly treats their customers so badly. Maybe it's because they usually don't last long enough for word to get around...

These guys have been around for a while though. People have always been saying shit about them (and rightfully so). Yet there are still some who buy from them. I knew mining was a sellers market, but this is crazy.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] KODAK COIN (ICO) (Warning issued) on: January 13, 2018, 06:07:35 PM
Please be careful not just about KODAKCOIN, but their Miner as well.
https://lifehacker.com/why-kodaks-bitcoin-scheme-is-a-scam-you-should-avoid-1821957658

Do not buy Kodak miner, unless you read it.

That's some next level scam. I guess Kodak is getting really desperate after being irrelevant for the last 15 years or so. What were they even doing before this "endeavour"?
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP is a complete fraud GET OUT! on: January 11, 2018, 04:32:31 PM
This has no chance to compete with Bitcoin in the long run. It's not useful as a currency, and not useful for banks in any way. It's all empty. I did make some profits with this, but it's dirty money, I'm ashamed. Will not touch again. See how I cannot even bring myself to say the name of this... token...  Sad

Just like rivers return into the ocean, all the money will return to Bitcoin in the end.

not useful? 😂

ripple just announced XRP partnership with moneygram.
http://fortune.com/2018/01/11/ripple-moneygram-xrp-cryptocurrency-bank-transfers/

what's btc doing?

give up loser.

Stop being obfuscated when people attack your investments. I don't think xrp is a scam - at least not in the classic sense of the word - but it is a trojan horse and a something that should not be bought by people that want crypto, not some con artists succeed. There are other options for fast, cheap (fee-less even) coins out there. Xrp is the most centralized coin out there. There are 55 nodes as far as I'm aware, all owned by ripple. With centralization of this magnitude, we could scale bitcoin beyond visa levels. So all in all, xrp can eat shit and die as far as I'm concerned. It is a cancerous growth within crypto, as much as bitconnect is.

The idea's cool...but does it need a blockchain? Can someone explain to me how is the token needed to achieve what they propose?
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 problem. Can't find the cause on: January 06, 2018, 03:51:47 PM
Did you try the Blissz firmare? I has helped me stabilize mine, but a lot of trial and error there (changing settings for 1 board affects all the others somehow). I'm not sure if warranty is worth it.

Yes, I finally managed to get it working. Used blissz' firmware and lowered the frequency on the board that seemed to get the most errors. It's now running at around 16 GH/s and is relatively stable. Can't imagine it's gonna last long though. It must've been damaged somehow.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 problem. Can't find the cause on: January 04, 2018, 04:41:02 PM
Yeah, that sucks. It's weird how every time 3 boards are on, only one of 'em has like a shitton of errors, while the rest seem to do relatively fine with 2-3 per minute. But powering them on separately just gets them drowning in errors. No idea what could be causing this...he'd be willing to buy a new control board but if the every board is done for, I think he's just gonna have to call it.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Antminer D3 problem. Can't find the cause on: January 04, 2018, 10:54:39 AM
My friend has a D3, the 19.3 version which suddenly (simple reboot after it had been running flawlessly for days) gives out thousand of HW errors. We powered the boards consecutively, and all of 'em appear to have the same problem, but to a different extent - as in not all of 'em are prone to the same amount of errors. This led me to believe that the control board might be the source of the problem. Alas, I tried the board from my machine, a 17.5 version that works without issues. Lo and behold, nothing changed.

The only logical explanation is that all 3 boards are damaged, in which case he's screwed. But I find it hard to believe that they all developed the same problem after a reboot. None of them are presenting the infamous xxx's, they just get pummeled with 60-80% errors. I'm at a loss here, can anyone give me an idea on how to address this? He even used a bunch of different firmware, nothing seems to help. His warranty is now void as well, so there's that. I'd appreciate any pointers, thanks.

//edit: btw, the temps at which it runs are somewhat high, but acceptable nonetheless. Around 70C.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSTL] CASTLE Airdrops Platform 🌟AIRDROP🌟 [Masternodes/PoS] Atomic Swaps on: December 30, 2017, 08:03:15 PM
I was a bit skeptical due to the name (can't really find anything related to castles in what you're trying to do), but honestly I like this idea. I think the projects that are based on inter-crypto relations are pretty much wins in most cases. Remains to be seen. Don't really get why it's a mineable coin and why x11 of all. Masternodes, I guess.

If this works out, I will definitely be using you again. I'll throw in a tip next time. Just need to see for myself if it works. Thanks.

"We are creating the trustchain platform
for monetizing people talents to disrupt entertainment industry."

And...how exactly are you going to go about doing that? How is the token supposed to do this? It's kinda vague, is all I'm saying.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I want to invest on: December 17, 2017, 03:32:59 PM
You might feel pressured into buying seeing that the price has been shooting straight up for a while now, but this is what we commonly refer to as fomo in this space. Fear of missing out. Which is, imo, the thing that causes most people, newbs especially to lose money. And a lot of it. Don't let greed get the best of you and research what you're investing in. Bitcoin might seem the sure thing, but will it always be the case? I suggest going through everything lopp.net has before getting into crypto. It's a little much and in depth, but trust me, it's worth it.
