http://datacoin.info/calc.htm

Datacoin profitability calc started. (thanks to anty.info where I took source code   Smiley )
It needs some minor changes, but works now.

Please remember that block generation rate is 2x-3x more than expected just for now, so you can multiply results by 2-3

No, you're wrong  Wink I talked to yvg personally, his team doesn't get so big profit as you think - he just has very fast miner for himself, but he doesn't try to "ALL YOUR DTC ARE BELONG TO US" Smiley

Hi maxsolnc,

dont get wrong understanding on my thought, i personally very appreciate yvg effort on CPU's coins.
I'm just worry about DTC diff change kind of rocket since we still does not have any official miner yet, and that's not good for this coin, dont you think so?

Diff is still at 8.99, it bounces around this value for several days (look in main thread), so I don't think that his miner affects this very much. But anyway, it is sad that there is still no open pool for DTC. I hope that yvg can give some version of his miner to community, but only when we have pool even with slow miner up and running.
884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Optimized Hp DTC windows clients - datacoin on: November 27, 2013, 02:30:03 PM
i think as long as yvg release his DTC miner, the diff is on the moon and only his team get profit  Grin

887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Datacoin listed on Bter.com on: November 27, 2013, 12:24:19 PM
It seems slowly gaining demand. Volumes are still very low here, but now there are few cheap DTC - cheaper than lately traded here Smiley
888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Datacoin] Promote Datacoin, Receive Rewards! on: November 27, 2013, 11:36:00 AM
bump
889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (just launched) on: November 27, 2013, 10:29:55 AM
We need a working pool Sad

People still report that they're getting blocks with solomining on non-cluster instances (home computers, some servers, etc). We're working at pool, but remember first many days of XPM: there was no pool, but people were successfully mining solo Smiley

Last block generated by me:25 Nov 2013 18:30.... hmmmm... to much time with out generating blocks... grrrrr

Version: v0.1.2.0xpm-hp11-unk-beta
have the client been updated?

There are no updates for wallet itself, but you can look into 'faster miner' thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=347296.0
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Datacoin] Promote Datacoin, Receive Rewards! on: November 27, 2013, 09:00:04 AM
We're going to promote Datacoin at resources other than Bitcointalk or any other *cointalk !   Smiley
If you have possibility to help us with that, please answer here or PM me!
You'll be rewarded for your work (all rewards in Datacoin - better promotion leads to better prices)
Datacoin team is working at implementing different features now, so we don't have much time to do promotion instead of development.

I'll bump this thread multiple times - we really need promotions, we need other developers who wants to create unique apps with help of Datacoin storage feature.

coins sent. And bump!
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal: Datacoin - A decentralized data storage cryptocurrency on: November 27, 2013, 08:46:30 AM
Good idea, but if to use it like Dropbox, its size can go to hundreds and hundreds (and thousands) of TB Smiley

It should scale extremely well, even to petabytes of data (as long as the miners have enough storage to meet the demands of the users).

Yeah, I understand. But I want just to clarify that Datacoin developer (i mean Datacoin that is running now) plans to implement some kind of 'individual chains', and other features could be also implemented in it, so 'proof of stock' as you called it is also planned.

Right, I will have to change the name to make it less confusing.

okay, so we'll be competitors  Smiley

I added new nodes from oocook5u but it still doesn't work. I can't find a solution to my problem.

Here, a c/p from the debug file :

dnsseed thread start
upnp thread start
addcon thread start
Loading addresses from DNS seeds (could take a while)
0 addresses found from DNS seeds
dnsseed thread exit

I really don't understand...
Maybe someone can figure it out!

Thanks for helping.

Seems that no one faced that issue.
But oocook5u was right - DTC now uses XPM dns seed what is not good.
So I'm going to setup new DNS seed exclusively for Datacoin today, it will be added to wallet and sources, after it everyone can upgrade.
Anyway, can you try to use another computer to check that?
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DATACOIN] Brainstorming - Giveaway! on: November 27, 2013, 07:22:39 AM
need some good pool to support!  example:ypool Grin

DGo6k5P1PAgDwC1aBW2gbaXcnDpb7Hp17e

ypool dev told yesterday that he doesn't have plan to support DTC (just now?), but hopefully he will change his opinion. Anyway, team still working at getting pools up and running.

Please claim your coins in an hour via PM - not at my workstation now Wink
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DATACOIN] Brainstorming - Giveaway! on: November 27, 2013, 06:57:58 AM
some thing are not so easy all the time but i near future it will be.

1. client must be multi platform (all supporting OS)
2. domain
3. maybe open source code
4. marketing not just posting on forums

1. Client now is both windows\linux, Mac support will also be added.
2. domain - what do you mean? datacoin.info is up and running (and still upgrading Smiley team is working at pools\wallet, so site will be updated after that)
3. Client is also open source - see github. All other resources will be also added to github when finished.
4. Marketing - we need it, now discussing some kind of FAQ\Press-Release with developer. If you can post at any huge web resources (not only forum), please let me know.

Proof-of-stake is good, but it's hard to implement,

So i am suggesting to add proof-of-activity to this coin. (more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102355.0)

Proof-of-activity would be very new and only coin has it would be datacoin. it is also better than proof-of-work conceptually.

if you liked, my address is: DL86XwJwd3DQbKccrYWQz7wpUnDj2wbcpB

Proof-of-activity is really brilliant idea. But just now I cannot imagine how hard is to implement it into existing coin and network Smiley
