Hows this different than what gekko science is offering? Also what would be the best option to power 3 antminers off 1 psu and run them at stock clock.

This IS gekko science.
382  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the point of Gridseed miners? on: March 14, 2014, 03:29:31 AM
Here is the readers digest version:

3Mh of a traditional scrypt miner using video cards uses 1500 watts of power produces enough heat to raise the temp of a room 30-40 degrees and costs about $2500-$3000 and sound like a jet engine

3Mh of Gridseed miners uses about 100 watts, produces almost zero heat costs about $2525 and can be absolutely silent with the disconnect of the fans.

Hope that helps

Anything over 16 miners will get my cgminer to crash. Why so? It will just freeze and then crash. 16 miners work fine. Can anyone help please?

Cpuminer is the answer

I have 30 Gridseed Miners running on BFGminer producing 10Mh that appears to be sending to SG yet the pool is reporting 5.5Mh

It could be a million things so I am going to play with cgminer and CPU miner this weekend.

I also have 30 Gridseed miners running (850mhz) with cpuminer and it shows 9.5-10Mh at the pool. This does not look like a pool related issue.

Yes I am going to do cpuminer this weekend.

Seems like bfgminer is probably the issue.

Any tips?
Command lines to share?

Tried CPUminer, problem solved.

Have to run 50 batch files but at least I get the expected hash rate

Charts all well and good, I was mining 10Mh of scrypt to ScryptGuild last night and it never reported more than 5.5Mh

Whats the deal with this pool?

45% skim off the top?

Actually I think the algorithm that Eleuthria uses is 5% off the top, 20% off the bottom and two 10% bits out of the middle somewhere.  He's pretty crafty like that.

That would explain the holes in my data

I haven't used any of those Gridseed miners yet.  If they are 300kh/s a piece, times 30, that's 9MH/s.  Not sure how/why BFG is saying 10.

You can try pointing them at another scrypt pool and see what that pool reports.

M

They are 330-350kh each which is 9.9 to 10.5 Mh

Working fine here.

M

Oh good well then nevermind, since it's ok for you then I should just deal with it.

Are you sure all your workers are pointing here?  Are you sharing workers across rigs?  Is your local hashrate report wrong?  All sorts of things that could be awry here.

Does anyone know how many Gridseed Miners I can put on a Molex/SATA/PCIE cable from a standard ATX power supply? I am running only scrypt mode around 10w each miner. I can't stand how loud the cheap switching power supply I have is and want to use a quieter power supply. I have 10 miners right now pushing 100watts. I have a spare PSU lying around with molex/sata/pcie conncections I can cut up. Thanks!

I had an old 1000w PSU laying around, so I just cut the PCIe cables and wired them in. I have 20 running now. Wired 7 each to 2 of the cables and 6 on 1.

I have 40 wired into a single Dell 750W server power supply.
(should be 50 tonight)

Somethings not right,
First I'm trying to use Scrypt guild.

without the --scrypt in the command line it does not recognize the shares

Then when I have 30 Gridseeds going it never sees more than 5Mh when I think I am sending 10Mh

Using this command line:
Bfgminer -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.scryptguild.com:3333 -u joeventura123 -p anything

again note without the --scrypt  it does not see a single share.

Ideas?

Where can I get a Windows Binary of Cgminer? Maybe I'll have better luck with that?

http://cryptomining-blog.com/1262-download-cgminer-3-7-2-for-windows-scrypt-mining-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asics/

I am running 20 of them. You have to unplug your USB hub and let cgminer start. Then plug the USB hub in once cgminer loads.

As far as scryptguild, my cgminer says I am at 7.2 MH/s while scryptguild says 5.2 MH/s.

And you are Ok with scryptguild only giving you credit for 5.2?

Not really, but posting in the Scryptguild thread on here did not get me any help.

That's actually real good to know.

Anyone know where I can find cgminer windows binary that works with gridseeds? (5 chip)

scrypt guild requires the --scrypt command for cgminer and bfdminer
cpuminer does not require it...
w

Yeah thanks, sort of figured that out.

know where I can find cgminer windows binary that works with gridseeds?

Any idea why scryptguild does not see full shares?

I am sending 10Mh right?

Joe you can start here
http://cryptomining-blog.com/1254-how-to-mine-both-btc-and-ltc-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asic/

Why would I start in that thread? I don't want to mine both, just LTC
395  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LightningAsic usb miners based Gridseed GC3355 Tech Support Thread on: March 13, 2014, 01:50:15 AM
Joe, I think you need to compile it on a windows box... Not sure if there is ready exe available for download yet.

Yeah thats not happening.

Will happily pay someone to get that working.

Takers?

I use LTC Rabbit.
https://www.ltcrabbit.com/#afkun1

They have a solid pool with an altcoin bonus when applicable.
The other that is good is Scryptguild.com which is currently in beta.

I hope it helps and Happy Mining.

i`ve managed to compile it, it runs, it detects all the gridseed devices, it seems like they are hashing but they don`t find any share at all

any ideas ?

Have you tried different pools? Some scrypt pools have different addresses for high diff and low diff (high is usually 1-2 MH/s) miners, and if you're at a "high" one you might not be able to get any shares.

I ran into this issue too. Don't use high-diff servers for a 70 or 300 Kh/s device.

Also from your output it looks like you only ran it for less than 3 minutes. Try giving it longer so luck has time to play out. Also try just one server. Trial and error will help here since it works well for others.

What server (pool) are you using or would you recommend? I am bring up 40 Gridseed (5 chip) miners up on Bfgminer tonight, want to be as consistent as I can.

Did you have to load any drivers for BFG to see the Gridseed units?

So no drivers to load on a Windows machine to have them recognized by Bfgminer?

Thanks for the pool list, I will try them tonight
