1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hack? on: November 23, 2017, 04:15:15 AM
Has anyone heard of a hack or attempted hack on Bitcoin

I think this is old news, there have been so many attacks on Bitcoin in recent years this is the reason why so many forks has been happening, just be sure that you keep your wallet secured and your private keys safe while developers are doing their best to protect bitcoin.
1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Korea To Tax Bitcoin Use on: November 20, 2017, 11:10:28 PM
Government are good at this, taxing whatever people are into, they are not going to do this if bitcoin has not become a popular trading stuff in their market, now that they saw the popularity of bitcoin in their citizen, they are now taxing it, this is the sad reality for bitcoin users.
1383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin turns out to be the creation of a three letter agency - what then? on: November 20, 2017, 10:55:29 PM
It will not matter to me as long as bitcoin serves it purpose to be decentralized and peer to peer but I rather believe that bitcoin was created by a genius who does not want attention to his great works and besides are there evidence that points cis or nbi or any of those mentions agency as the creator of Bitcoin?
1384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin does not have limited supply on: November 19, 2017, 12:57:45 PM
No, the supply is limited. If someone forked bitcoin then it will become a different coin, completely different than the bitcoin itself.
The argument is again and again that the value of Bitcoin will increase because supply is limited to 21 million. But this is quite simply wrong. Every time Bitcoin is forked that is in real terms an expansion of the Bitcoin currency beyond 21 million. To some degree the same is true of alternative crypto currencies which will flood the market. There is already more than 1000 cryptocurrencues ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cryptocurrencies )

Th forking (or absence of it) does not effect Bitcoin's supply. At best, you can consider it as a "gift" to all bitcoin holders, which will increase the overall worth. It in no way impacts the overall supply of 21 Mn, which is set in stone.

That is precisely my point. I create "Bitcoin2" by forking. Then I create "Bitcoin3" and so on and so on. In reality what I am doing is issuing more Bitcoin. That I call it a different name does not change the reality.
You create bitcoin A B C or something else but the amount of your original bitcoin is still the same. You are issuing another coin, forked from bitcoin. You can fork bitcoin 10 times but it will be useless if no one support that chain.

I agree with your assessment if that fork did not get enough support they will just be considered as altcoin with the name bitcoin on it, there's only one bitcoin and it's supply is limited and cannot be changed.
1385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ⚡ Electroneum ⚡ Token Sale Sept 14th Mobile Mining Crypto Coin on: November 15, 2017, 01:02:38 AM

1386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potential mining ban in China, effects on market? on: November 15, 2017, 12:35:47 AM
If it happens, it will be a very big problem. Now there are a lot of unconfirmed transactions that caused the fee to be very high. Now consider that people in China are banned from mining. What will happen if we lose them?

In my opinion that will give other miners a good opportunity to direct their mining rigs to bitcoin since the big network of miners are not mining bitcoin anymore, we all know bitcoin started as cpu mining until the big mining company of China came
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why all other coins pretending to be bitcoin will fail (including BTG). on: October 30, 2017, 05:52:26 AM
Why? because HUMANS have emotions, most of us treat BTC as if it has a sentimental value... yes, there can be lots of forks as we move on, but there is only one BITCOIN. I still believe in the urge of humanity to be free from the government and capitalists. That's why I guess people will always treat the forks as free money, and after selling them they would buy BITCOIN.

You are not the one with that opinion I will do the same, claim the new coin sell it to buy bitcoin so it's another way to buy new bitcoin, and people enjoy fork again and again.
1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it matters who Satoshi Nakamoto is/was? on: October 27, 2017, 11:14:10 PM
Being a decenralized and open sourced I don't think it will matter even if people or authorities find out who and where he is right now, Bitcoin is much more secured right now and steadily growing at a past phase
1389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: where do I place 100k? on: October 20, 2017, 02:03:51 AM
should it be invested in bitcoin and hold?

or

should it be invested in alt coins?

and why or what will make it sustainable via etc vs. alt investment

The best decision is to set up a portfolio and do not put all your investment in one coin, there are a lot of promising coin in the market that can you invest in but be sure to pick the top 3 first like bitcoin ethereum and ripple
1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Dead Without China? on: October 15, 2017, 09:51:10 PM
China has become the powerhouse for Bitcoin (and the whole cryptocurrency in general) as it is hosting many Bitcoin miners due to cheaper electricity and maybe also cheap labors. China also boasts of probably millions of Bitcoin owners and traders who are influencing the moves of the market on day to-day basis. As far as acceptance of Bitcoin in China, it is comfortably good until such time when the government decided that it is time to intervene.

In general, the Chinese government is not comfortable with Bitcoin as it indeed representing a different currency that they can not control with. since Bitcoin is decentralized it would be hard for the government to make interventions and so they are thinking that maybe it is time to ban it altogether. The government can not kill Bitcoin but what they are doing is actually closing the country as a market for Bitcoin.

So the question is: Can Bitcoin survive without China? In case, it can't then then there is something wrong with it since it is not resilient to ride the big storm it is in.

No we are going to be ok and bitcoin will move forward without China and now that the new fork is coming this  october 25 we are seeing a new surge in price so we are better with or without China , we still have Japan who's also a big stakeholder.
1391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what's up with the upcoming fork? on: October 08, 2017, 10:09:50 PM
Which exchange will support Bitcoin Gold?
Probably the price of Bitcoin will rise with regard to this event...NOT?

You can look at the history chart of Bitcoin when bitcoincash launch but based on that there is no impact on the price of Bitcoin and it could happen again so we all not need to worry and be thankful because we will soon get free money again.
1392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Is Your Bitcoin Dream? on: October 06, 2017, 02:39:55 PM
Okay, I am just making that headline short and sweet. What I mean is: What is one big dream that you want to realized out of your Bitcoin income? No matter how small or big it is, please share it with us here.

As for me, I have a big dream of having my own 10-hectare farm somewhere here in my locality and I want to stuff that area with all the fruits I can find here and with my main products which are cacao and coffee.

I guess I have this special connection with the soil and the land that is giving us the food and sustenance daily. And who knows maybe years from now I can be able to issue tokens out of that farm...something like AgriTokens or AgriCoins.

Please share your dreams!

Since I bought $1000 worth of Bitcoin I'm looking forward to turn that $1000 to $5000 or more in the future i will soon add more Bitcoin in my wallet after seeing nobody can take down Bitcoin  and it's here to stay and for good.
1393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on the next fork? on: October 06, 2017, 05:00:56 AM
What are you guys predicting will happen before/after the next fork?

I'm ok with the fork as long as it will solve the current situation we are in like higher fee and slow transactions but majority of the stakes holders should be on it so it will go up fine and ok and it will be adopted by everyone.
