381  Economy / Auctions / Re: Avalon ASIC Bitcoin Miner Batch #2 70 GH/s *IN HAND* DHL Express on: June 21, 2013, 11:48:21 AM
90 day ROI is assuming the difficulty stays constant, not really a realistic assumption...
+1
382  Economy / Auctions / Re: Avalon ASIC Bitcoin Miner Batch #2 70 GH/s *IN HAND* DHL Express on: June 21, 2013, 10:12:07 AM
The auction was closed by eBay because of my "buy-it-now" note.
I removed the note about that and re-listed the Avalon.

Here it is right now again!
http://www.ebay.de/itm/111103181091

Happy bidding!
I estimate an outcome of around 12.150 EUR that would be a 90+ day ROI ...
Everything else is throwing money into the fire ...

Sorry for the dark picture, "rig" is placed in our basement.

A click here for a brighter picture would have been better ... what am I looking at here ... 3 USB sticks?

Grin LOL brighter picture would be better indeed. But even on this "dark" picture I see 4 USB sticks
Cheesy ... Here we go ... I did for you!  Roll Eyes  .. And, indeed there 4 sticks

385  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: [auction] 5970 - XFX Black edition on: June 20, 2013, 01:48:43 PM

Not sure yet, It started out in my head as BTC, But I keep seeing the ROI go waaayyyy down, So yes LTC, I have never done it before so I will have to have a play around.
I bought on eBay a GPU 3 weeks ago ... around 60 EUR ... not as powerful as this one here, but it at least holds it 200 MH/s (on LTC) ... ROI back then would have been 90 days ... it slipped to 110 now ... let's see what the future brings.

For me BTC with GPU's is completely out of the question:
Code:
Hash rate:    200.00M hash/sec
Difficulty:   19339258.3
Value:        $110.900/BTC
Time/block:   4806.9 days
BTC/Day: ฿   0.01 $/Day: $    0.58
BTC/Wk.: ฿   0.04 $/Wk.: $    4.04
BTC/Mo.: ฿   0.16 $/Mo.: $   17.53
386  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 500Gh/s BFL ASIC unit on: June 20, 2013, 12:34:11 PM
Hello fellow bitcoiners,

It has come to my attention that there are multiple BFL customers with early orders who would like to part with some of their 500Gh/s units. The reasons are numerus, from not having enough power to run the units to some wanting to not have to deal with mining.

I would like to get a feeling from the community if any of you are interested in purchasing these units.

My roll in this is strictly as a broker / escrow / single point of contact for handling all queries and sales.

The 500Gh/s units are offered at $150k each with payment in BTC preferred.

If you have any questions, you can ask them by PM or in this thread.

Best,
James
Hi!

I made the following calculation:

6 Avalon Clones at 85 GH/s each -> >500 GH/s
6 Avalon Clones at a price of 7.5 k USD -> 45 k USD
Delivery end of August ... meaning roughly 70 days ...

Mining with 500 GH/s at difficulty of 45 M weighted (currently 19 M + continuous raises until end of August) will get you:
Code:
Hash rate:    500.00G hash/sec
Difficulty:   45000000.0 - currently: 19339258.3
Value:        $110.850/BTC
Time/block:   4.5 days
BTC/Day: ฿   5.59 $/Day: $  619.41
BTC/Wk.: ฿  39.11 $/Wk.: $ 4335.89
BTC/Mo.: ฿ 169.87 $/Mo.: $18830.16
This would be 70 * 5.59  = 391.30 BTC (or 43358.70 USD)

Original price (32 k USD / 3 = 10,66 K USD - because it is not 1.5 TH/s it is only one of three machines) + mining until end of August -> 43369.36 USD

Everything around 50 k USD would reflect a fair price IMHO ... paying more than that is probably ripping of Newbie's.

Sooo ... where did I go so wrong with my math? The 150 k USD price tag must be a fair price .... or not?  Roll Eyes

All the best!

Have none of you ever worked in a customer focused role?
I have never witnessed another "business" taking pre-orders ONE YEAR ahead, lying they have attracted venture capital, using customers money for R&D, refusing full bitcoin refunds, and lying all the time month after month that what they need is just two more weeks and everything will be okay! Have you?!

Ever heard from kickstarter.com? ... They are just one of at least a dozen community venture capital start-up websites.
I support two project there I paid over a year ago (pebble (red/white) and ramos clock) ... Nothing delivered yet (at least to me) ... so do I publicly cry about it? No!
The cry-babies in this form really get on my nerves, especially to ones who say ... "I ordered (some time after Nov '12) where is my f.... product?". Stop wining ... ask for a refund ... or just sit and wait.

Peace and world mining (or something like that Cheesy)

Can you post the image somewhere?
My offer still stands ... I mean in hosting a small site keeping the images for others.

I believe luke-jr already compiled the unmodified 1.2.5 source code.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235312.0 (the hex file)
No, that file is as-is from BFL, I didn't compile it.

I've got one compiled myself, but for all I know it bricks it.
Maybe a bit more poking and I'll try it out. Wink

This is what I would have guessed from reading your (original) post ...

  Thx
389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experimenting with Jalapeno firmware... on: June 20, 2013, 07:50:40 AM
Damn, you should totally upload your modified image/firmware so that other 7 gh jala owners can bump their speed as well. Smiley

The thing is, I didn't modify the code at all. I just compiled it and flashed it on the microcontroller.

I'm about to bump up the clock frequency. But, I'm probably not going to increase it any more after this since it isn't recommended and I would also have to figure out the format for the commands being sent to the ASICs. I'll try to get a picture up as well.

And a stat update: 8.222 GH/s, A:29293 R:96 HW:252 U:113.89/m. The HW error rate is definitely higher than it was before, but still tolerable.

391  Economy / Auctions / Re: 24 hour auction for 85/Ghs Avalon (4 module+PSU) on: June 19, 2013, 11:23:20 AM
Now that the auction is over, may I ask why people would still bid that much for a preorder? I mean it will take a year to get your initial BTC investment back and you have 0 promise that the price will stay as high as it is right now...

its a preorder so you cannot start right now. so take a 4 to 8 weeks delivery time, you make  4 BTC / month which will reduce maybe even half every month.

4BTC / mo
2BTC / mo
1BTC / mo
...

Maybe im not uptodate with the promised delivery times so whats the newest date?
Huh Huh Huh Huh

Let's assume the buyer gets his Avalon when we hit a diff of 40 M (double of what it is today) with 85 Gh/s:
The calculation will look like this to him:
Code:
BTC/Day: ฿   1.07	$/Day: $  116.13
BTC/Wk.: ฿   7.48 $/Wk.: $  812.93
BTC/Mo.: ฿  32.49 $/Mo.: $ 3530.45
BTC/Yr.: ฿ 390.33 $/Yr.: $42417.60

My guess with ever increasing diff ..... that he gets total ROI in 3 to 4 months.

Cheesy
393  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Recieved 50GH BFL Single Today! on: June 19, 2013, 10:56:30 AM
In order for me to keep my pre-orders Josh is making me do the following:

  • Apologize Publicly for calling Josh and BFL liars
  • Admit "Werner" is a sock puppet account uner my control
  • Apologize for using "Werner" to troll him

Therefore, in the best interest of Cognitive, the people who have purchased pre-orders from me, and myself:

Dear Inaba and BFL:

Sorry for calling you liars. Werner is a sock puppet account under my control. Sorry for utilizing said account to "troll" you.

                                         With regret,
                                                     Garr255

Also, I apologize to all who I may have put risk by speculating that BFL may have been acting in a dishonest fashion. If I had known that the cancellation of orders placed by me would result of this I would not have acted in such a way, as that would be a direct violation of the fiduciary duty imposed on me by handing others' assets.

wow just wow, most people will ask where is you pride, but you just proved that you control your ego, most people will say you are a coward but I think it takes allot of courage to do this.

Josh and BFL employees, regarding these angry people who post all kind of things you do not like, don't you think that this is justified by looking to the fact that your plans went so wrong, your customers had trusted you by putting pre-orders and each time something went wrong you came here and humiliated every one said anything about it ?

So let me get this straight:

You think it's ok to make baseless accusations.
You think it's ok to use a sock puppet account to troll people.
You think it's ok to lie about said socket puppet account and explicitly post a contradictory post when caught in said lie.

Does that about cover it?  If BFL "humiliated everyone said anything about it" this forum would be filled with nothing but BFL posts.  If you want to complain, fine, by all means, have at it... there are many, many posts and threads doing just that.  I tried to help Garr out and got nothing but crap in return, finally culminating in him using a socket puppet account to further troll the situation.  Then, this lovely and incredibly disingenuous apology follows.  Yes, sure.. whatever you say.

The bottom line is, if you want to get unreasonable, we simply don't want to deal with you.  We have our hands full dealing with adult customers who are reasonable, we have no need for unreasonable, irrational customers throwing tantrums and screaming "Me first GIMME GIMME!"

With the risk of attracting haters and idiots.

Josh I would have done the exact some thing .....
Garr ... I don't know you, but from what I have read here (I read the whole thread, and some of your posts in the past on the same BFL subject) ... I can only say: shame on you and your schizophrenic personality (werner)

All the best!

394  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] First 500Gh/s BFL unit up and running! on: June 19, 2013, 08:48:21 AM
Why running on such a high diff anyway. 32 or 64 would do easily with a stratum-proxy in between.

that would be ultra sweet ... design one and make it public domain. Please!  Roll Eyes

Would Open Source be good enough? Smiley

Good question ... a case design is not quite 'source' in terms of source code ... but I guess the true source (the idea) is open and not protected by some legal copyright scum
