342  Economy / Exchanges / Re: > 🔥 Bitcoin Fees 50% Less with Coinbase Batching🔥 < on: March 17, 2020, 10:09:33 PM
How is it a marketing trick? Can you please explain.
Because anyone who understands how bitcoin works, and understands what transaction batching is, will be thoroughly underwhelmed by this. Individual users like myself have been using transaction batching for literally years. If we can do it, then there is absolutely zero reason that arguably the largest and most valuable bitcoin related company in the world couldn't also do it years ago. In reality, the fact that it took them this long to finally implement it should really be a source of embarrassment for them, not something to announce to the world as if you are making some massive progressive strides forward.

They have announced it with great fanfare, and a bunch of newbies who don't understand any better will think "Oooohhh, they are saving me some fees, isn't that amazing! How great are Coinbase!", whilst anyone who understands what is going on will just roll their eyes.

Coinbase has always been an exchange for users to easily interact with cryptocurrency. So I can see why they would have taken longer on this, it will slow the process down a little bit doing this as they have said in their blog post. So since they are trying to make quick and seamless transactions they needed to make sure they could implement it fully without any problems.

We are talking about a fully regulated exchange. Coinbase isn't going to do things like Bitmex.

don't get me wrong but anyone still use coinbase?

Millions of people use Coinbase, according to Coinbase. Grin
The news about Bitcoin Batching are just a marketing trick, nothing more. Many Bitcoin newbies aren't that tech savvy and don't know what Bitcoin batching actually is.I guess that Coinbase wants to target them.
In my opinion,Coinbase is the most "fiat oriented" company in the crypto world(in a bad way).Even their CEO showed that he is a BCH/BSV supporter and criticizes Bitcoin Core for "not being able to scale" and other BS.

How is it a marketing trick? Can you please explain.

Coinbase announced on their official blog that Bitcoin Batching would be released today, in which users can see more than a 50% savings in blockchain transaction fees.

This will be really nice as Bitcoin fees are spiking due to the increased trading and people selling. What are your thoughts?
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CALL OF DUTY Launches Game with Virtual Currency on: March 11, 2020, 07:27:33 PM
When the cryptocurrency community sees or hears "currency" they go nuts.

This is a bad implementation of a virtual economy in a video game and actually recks the gameplay. Cryptocurrency doesn't make this implementation any better.

Obviously some aspects of video game economies and crypto make an interesting idea, but so far nothing is close to being sustainable.

I love crypto, but don't like the random hype around things that don't matter at all.

Edit: This is also a currency that isn't traded. So it is not really even a currency like Runescape gold, that some people trade outside of the game.

348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power plant in New York set up its own Bitcoin mining farm! on: March 10, 2020, 03:44:58 PM
Seems like NY would be the worst place to run a mining farm considering the extremely high taxes among other high costs.

351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are underutilizing Bitcoin on: March 10, 2020, 02:34:24 PM
I am bringing this back because we are already seeing a huge drop. Obviously the markets are down too so you can blame it on that.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Staking WAR has begun, who is wining it? on: March 10, 2020, 02:33:58 PM
I would definitely vouch for Binance because it has one of the wide range of coins that it allows to be staked on its platform than Coinbase. Also, because Binance serve as an exchange platform liquidating your rewards is very easy. I don't know but i think you can add Stake Cube platform, their return on investment is very decent and there are no issues with withdrawals when the time is due.

Coinbase is also an exchange that would have this feature.
353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stock Market took a huge dive, Cryptocurrency follows on: March 09, 2020, 08:53:51 PM
I would wait a week or two to make an investment in stocks and crypto. I mean, from my point of view its beautiful because I missed out on some energy and oil stocks that dropped like 20% in a day. These billion-dollar companies that are not going away, so I am seeing it as a great investment.

You don't want to catch a falling knife though, so I would wait for a little.
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ⚡Bitcoin and Ethereum's Energy Consumption⚡ on: March 08, 2020, 08:42:09 PM
With this high barrier to enter the market, it puts a lot of centralization on these mining pools. Most people will simply buy bitcoin and sell when it increases to make passive money, instead of running a miner.
I am sure when Satoshi created BTCitcoin he identified that mining to be competitive if you want to be a miner in the long run and that will bring a situation where we see centralization in the sector where only the rich can make dividends mining.

What are your thoughts on the energy consumption ecosystem right now?
In the future the huge mining farms will be turning to natural resources to generate electricity which will shut down the energy conservatives  Tongue. If these conservatives are really concerned about the pollution aspect they must first go after Mining and Ore Processing companies rather than aiming a decentralized market .

It is not that I am even a huge conservative. It isn't sustainable to have this model.
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmain Bitcoin mining equipment is expensive on: February 27, 2020, 12:54:01 AM
Im bringing this back because I am seeing a lot of conversation on buying mining equipment to start making passive income.

I think for most people they see bitcoin mining as "free money". However, its almost always nonprofitable unless you have the perfect operation with older equipment that is expensed, and have cheap electricity/labor.

You're better off just investing in Bitcoin and then selling if it goes up for a profit, instead of mining bitcoin and getting liquidated when the price doesn't skyrocket.

356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Simpsons talks about Cryptocurrency on: February 26, 2020, 03:30:56 PM
My favorite part of that is when the Big Bang Theory guy gets on the stun double bike lol

But in relation to cryptocurrency, this is just a funny skit that helps us laugh during these downfalls.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ⚡Bitcoin and Ethereum's Energy Consumption⚡ on: February 26, 2020, 03:24:28 PM
After ETH 2.0 it energy consumption will be much lower

We can hope so Smiley

Proof of Work isn't bad by any means, but it is limiting some of the expansion of crypto. It is a great way to validate the ecosystem, but with that much energy being used, we need a better way.

359  Economy / Exchanges / Re: RobinHood Exchange on: February 22, 2020, 06:00:52 PM
As another user has said when you buy cryptocurrency on Robinhood you are not given the actual asset, so you can transfer the bitcoin off etc.

As for the other aspects of it, I just Robinhood to mess around on and trade individual stocks and have had a great experience so far. I have referred a few people and gotten like $30 on 4 people. And in return, they have made around $30 too.
