581  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a partner in a marketing site. [Need web developer] on: August 19, 2019, 10:53:13 AM
I am looking for a website designer. I will handle everything related to the business. The website will need updates etc and so you will receive a portion of the business which will be advertised off of Bitcointalk.

Why not hire one on Fiverr, if you have a tight budget they will create a simple looking website, you can start there, creating content is not an easy job, some freelancers are asking hundreds or even thousands of dollars to create customized content, and you want to hire them free for a future percentage, you can get a newbie designer but not a pro.

Really I just need a website built, it wouldn't have to look super insane. Just something that businesses could go to in order to see my services available and portfolio.

What do you think about betting platform or casino based on blockchain and smart contracts?

I don't like them really. It would have to be something really unique which I have yet to see.

I've paid $2 for a bitcoin transaction and it hasn't confirmed in over 30 minutes. $2 sounds like a good price in the traditional market, but microtransactions get killed. The lightning network could potentially solve this.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free Premier Leauge Bet on: August 17, 2019, 01:59:50 PM
I edited the bet before the match started. Not worth it to bet on Liverpool with Allison out

Wow that was a great game to watch. Sad to see the VR look taking away the Man City win. But that is sports, glad I was able to watch it.

We haven't really been seeing a lot of advancements in this area since I posted the thread. Anyone care to add their input?
593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will the Lightning Network save bitcoin? on: August 17, 2019, 12:48:23 AM
Weather you like it or not, the Lightning Network is an interesting solution to the scalability problem Bitcoin is currently facing.
594  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Inspiring Bitcoin Start Up Story on: August 17, 2019, 12:35:56 AM
They are trying to accomplish something that would be really powerful to the crypto space, and doing so without releasing a token. This is really impressive, even if the project loses speed.
I admire their journey and honesty, but without the proper finances it's a gamble regardless of the problems they try to solve, therefore I don't rule out that they eventually will come up with a token to boost their finances.

Another possibility is that they receive donations from the community, but for that to happen you need to deliver at least something. It's not enough to work on something that we all like when it doesn't grow further than just an idea.

I understand the dislike of projects launching tokens left and right, but that at least motivates them to deliver and keep working. We have seen how the bear market bankrupted hundreds of projects because they were broke.

Both of the founders have made a lot of sacrifices in order to work on the project which is all of the motivation that they will need.

Lastbit's Inspiring Story: https://twitter.com/lastbitpay/status/1162169403238207488

If you are starting your own cryptocurrency project, or are a cryptocurrency enthusiast then you will want to read about Lasbit's inspiring story on starting from nothing to being accepted to UC Berkely's Sky Deck program.

If you have had a chance to read it, let me know what you think about it. Do you think a story like this will inspire people to enter the cryptocurrency community and build amazing projects?

I read their article on Medium, and so far it's hard to say whether it's a success story. Leaving a Master's program and a full-time job were serious sacrifices of the founders and I hope they'll be worth it, but IMO it's just too early to tell. From what I read it seems that they want to solve the scalability issue and boost mass adoption by offering a good application of Bitcoin Lightning Network. So that Bitcoin can be sent in a fast and cheap way which paves a way for everyday usage. Since for now, we don't have anything better than the LN for small transactions, I think it's a good approach to try to make use of it. Good luck to the team! I hope they succeed, and paying for groceries with BTC becomes real.

Getting set up with UC Berkeley is a pretty big deal. And yeah I agree, making the sacrifices with the full time job and school is a really cool story, especially if this does take off. They are trying to accomplish something that would be really powerful to the crypto space, and doing so without releasing a token. This is really impressive, even if the project loses speed.

Nice share, what makes it more interesting is that the idea behind and how it can help crypto to be adopted globally. Those two guys are visionaries and I would say that they are very lucky and have a good pitch that companies are willing to fund their project because it is really unique. For those who are not familiar on what these guys are building,

Quote
Our end goal still remains the idea of being able to walk into a shop and spend crypto even if the merchant doesn’t accept it – without compromising on the ideals of Bitcoin, i.e. imagine being able to tap your ledger/trezor wallet against a credit card machine and pay with bitcoin instantly!

I agree this project is trying to accomplish something great. We need more projects that bring net value to the company, and more people who are ready to get down and BUIDL

I'm thinking about getting into the mining industry, however, I won't be using Bitmain. What do you guys think? Is it a good time to enter right now?
