Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Novogratz: “Bitcoin is unlikely to fall even lower”

Anyone telling you Bitcoin won't or can't fall is pretty stupid. Saying "unlikely" is a safe word. Don't speculate unless you want to be in for a wild ride. Focus your time learning about blockchain technology, or work on building something that has net benefit for the ecosystem. Rent-seekers are making this community really hard to enjoy.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.6 billion in gold vs 1.6 billion in Bitcoins

Gold is used in a variety of electronics which holds a usability aspect of it. But just like bitcoin, gold is highly speculative. Bitcoin is nice, but the speculators ruin it. I think bitcoin would have been so much more successful if people didn't invest in it for 5 years after the creation of it. We need more time to actually build infrastructure that work on an adoptive level.

I don't think the stock market crashing will make a huge impact on crypto. People will just start buying more bonds, and gold. Cryptocurrency still has a long way to go in order to be adopted, and as a speculative asset, it can be dangerous. People need to focus more on technology and building blockchains that work and can function at a high level instead of rent-seeking.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are people unintentionally trying to kill the price of bitcoin?

Yeah I have seen a rise in hacks, likely because people care even less about securing their private keys now that crypto has taken a large drop from where most people have purchased. It isn't necessarily killing cryptocurrency though, the speculates are. If you are using cryptocurrency purely as a investment and not using it, then it actually hurts the economy. Plus when people buy crappy ICO's and they sell off it hurts the economy because there are not enough buyers in the market that value the coin. There needs to be more usage for the cryptocurrencies to have people value them higher. There is a problem of too much money, and some companies even face this problem. Having too much money in a business can actually be harmful. I think this is a big problem in cryptocurrency, we expanded way to fast without much application.

OMG has been getting slapped among the other cryptocurrency projects. I am still holding it though, and would love to see this project make some innovations. However I am obviously ready to lose all my money.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: YouTuber's using marketing schemes toward bitcoin

It's no secret that everyone is trying to squeeze the maximum out of a minimum. Everyone survives as they can, but advertising is also a big argument in the promotion.
Youtuber has one goal, which is to get as many visitors as possible to make money. So they will use any tactics including bitcoin they discuss starting from A to Z. We must be aware of information like this, sometimes scam or worse, they will enter our e-mail and steal what they want. Yeah this is true and it is a shame that people use a good platform for this sort of stuff. I have seen less and less of it though as cryptocurrency has dropped.
