The match between Tsitsipas and Zverev is now over and Zverev has won it in two sets. Each player won most of his service games.  Both made few mistakes. But Zverev was more focussed and played more aggressively. That was not the case in many previous matches between the two. But Zverev also had to be aggressive, because Tsitsipas is generally a player who plays aggressively.

And Germany went on to progress to the Semi finals, their odds were 2.34 which was
a great pay out if anyone backed them?

Semi finals are

Poland v France
Hurkacz v Mannarino
Swiatek v Garcia
Thats 2 wins there for Poland.

Australia v Germany
Tomijanovic v Kerber
de Minaur v Zverev
Thats a win each

Its kind of looking like a Poland v Germany final I would say.

Its kind of looking like a Poland v Germany final I would say.

Yes, it could come down to that.

-----------------

Nadal only made it to thee quarter-finals in Brisbane. It was not enough against Jordan Thompson from Australia. Although he had 3 match points in the second set, Thompson managed to turn the tide and win the second set with 8:6. Nadal also got treatment in set 3 and lost it with 6:3. I am curious to see if it is enough for him to know what level he is at now.
Is there any another tournament for Nadal before the Australian Open?

Well he just came back from an injury so we cannot expect that Nadal plays at the top level like he used to play before. This is his last year as a player and he will give it his all. But still if he got injured i dont know if we can expect from him to do something big in the Australian open. I still hope that he will play in it without any injuries

I check these four players parlay and place my bet with small amount which was looking good but sadly Kudermetova lost the match in third set and all gone with still this was good bet she lost second set on tiebreaker and then unable to fight back in third set, but hopefully things will be good for the next matches as now we are heading for better matches in these events.
Ah, sorry about that mate. Yeah, that was the only game that went the other way. Parlays are always tempting but I generally don't advise making one with more than 2 games, and that too if they are happening simultaneously, otherwise, a single bet is the way to go. There's always 1 game that goes wrong in longer ones and it's just not worth it.

Nadal got injured again, at the same spot he was previously injured. Will get to know the extent of the injury today, depending on how he feels. Lost to Thompson due to it but he did have a match point but couldn't capitalize on it.

Germany vs Australia is very likely to be decided in mixed doubles because Kerber seems to have quite a hard time facing Tomljanovic but Zverev must be able to beat De Minaur, and the mixed doubles match will be very exciting because both of them have very good mixed doubles, maybe Germany will field Zverev and Siegemund again, compared Zverev and Kerber, because Zverev/Siegemund were also quite good when they beat Greece which was a deciding match too.

Watching Zverev v de Minaur right now. The man with a Hitler moustache plays very well so far.  Grin  Zverev barely managed to take the first set 7:5, right now it's 3:3 in the second.

Earlier in Brisbane, Aryna Sabalenka had little issues overcoming Azarenka's resistance 6:2, 6:4. Final will be epic: Sabalenka v Rybakina  Cool

de Minaur did very well to win his match in the 3td set given he somewhat struggled
up until you post!

But it was an epic doubles decider in the tie break decider to elect Germany the winners.

Final time now and its swiatek v Kerber, Swiatek has just taken the first set and a
double break in the second, its going to be Poland 1-0 very soon....

Up next is Hurkacz v Zverev, odds are 2.2 - 1.65 Hurkacz could pull off a winner here, Zverev
I hear didnt get to bet until 6.30 and has played a lot so has to be feeling the fatigue by now

Meanwhile at WTA Brisbane, Elena Rybakina stunned WTA #2 Aryna Sabalenka! Rybakina won the first set with a bagel (6:0) in just 24 minutes! Needless to say she won against the odds, if I remember correctly it was something like 1.65 v 2.5 in favour of the Belarussian...

Dimitrov v Rune now live: 7:6 Dimitrov first set, 1:1 second set so far.

Dimitrov got it done in 2 sets. It seems like Rune wasnt playing the same attacking style of
Tennis we know him for and Dimitrov was excellent, so much improvement drom him, he was
clearly very emotional for winning a tournament again.

Back over at the United Cup Final, it went the full distance between Poland and Germany.
Hurkacz played well against Zverev early on but lost out in the third set. The man of the
tournament has to be Zverev, he had a late one yesterday, played a d won his singles match
and then played the doubles.

Does anyone know what Germany's odds were for the win?

Dimitrov opened the year with a winning tournament and looks really good. He continued to play good from last year and this year i think he can go really far. Rune is still young so he is playing hot and cold and we cannot expect from him to win all the tournaments once he reaches the final. United Cup final was really good and Zverev carried his country to the trophy.

It was a great performance from Zverev and there are high hopes that if he keeps playing at this level, we will see him go further at the Australian Open, there is at least a week for him to recover as he didn't play in Adelaide or Auckland, and the MVP goes to Swiatek who was quite disappointed with Poland's loss in the final.

Rafael Nadal finally decided to pull out of the 2024 Australian Open after having another muscle problem, I think it's time for him to retire and do it at the tournament that will be held in Spain in April between the Barcelona Open or the Mutua Madrid Open and that would be a pretty perfect time because it looks like he is already difficult to compete when the match has to run more than two hours.

The perfect goodbye for Nadal would be at the French Open, the tournament he won already 14 times. Never say never, but if this injury will be treated he is still an outsider to win the title again. His game is perfect for Clay and he can still stand a chance if his physique allows it.

yea, just heard that Rafa is not competing at AO, I mentioned it after his 3 set loss to
Thompson, Its a massive step up for him from a best of 3 match to a best of 5 Grand
Slam...in warm humid conditions.

Reading at what is reported its not a massively serious injury though and I would say he
will want to compete as soon as possible.

of reasons, retirement might become the biggest of them as we get closer to it...

Its kind of looking like a Poland v Germany final I would say.

Just like you said. Final between Germany and Poland.
But the winner is Zverev. He won 4 games out of 5. He only lost to de Minaur in the semi-final.
In the final, it initially looked as if Poland would win. But Zverev was there in the decisive moments. Without him, Germany would not have got this far and would not have won the final either.  Hopefully that has given him enough confidence to go far in Melborne.

But the opponents were not the creme de la creme either. Considering what ambitions Zverev once had, losing against de Minaur should not happen. I have seen Zverev playing tremendous games against everyone from the top of the ATP list, but his inconsistency is dramatically bad. He falls apart sometimes as if he forgot how to shoot the ball. And I think the worst downside Zverev's game has is if his first serve doesn't work on a specific day. That is when he has like nonstop double faults and loses the game to those double faults. If he was a consistent player I think he could claim the top one day. But he is getting old by now.

I can't agree that Zverev was playing his best tennis. Far from it actually. He's not very fit physically, he was short of breath literally after every rally. He almost lost to Hurkacz, the Pole had 2 match points but failed to use this opportunity.

Bad news for every tennis fan I guess. However, I was pretty convinced that something like that is going to happen. Earlier, I shared my opinion that Rafa had to wait for the start of the clay season to get back on court. That would be best for him in the long run and perhaps let him avoid this injury.

Good news is that the injury seems to be very minor and recovery won't take long (hopefully).

Maybe you're right because that's what I also saw in his performance in the United Cup, but his efforts, especially in the mixed doubles match against Australia and also how the mixed doubles played in the final.

The ATP and WTA issued new rules for match schedules to minimize matches finishing late and is also conducting a review of ball use strategies because we know that there are quite a lot of complaints from players regarding these two things.

The ATP and WTA issued new rules for match schedules to minimize matches finishing late and is also conducting a review of ball use strategies because we know that there are quite a lot of complaints from players regarding these two things.

I just hope that whatever they do, they do not destroy the competitive integrity of the game. I believe this is the second most physical sport ever after football. Now of course players are complaining for a reason. And it's not like some random dude complaining because he cannot play. These are professionals we are talking about. So of course this matter should be looked into.
The one thing there should be concerned about is the player's help. The players are already going through a lot. And injuries are also very common right now. So I just hope that in a way of trying to decrease the match time, they do not put more pressure on the players.

I can't agree that Zverev was playing his best tennis. Far from it actually. He's not very fit physically, he was short of breath literally after every rally. He almost lost to Hurkacz, the Pole had 2 match points but failed to use this opportunity.
Maybe you're right because that's what I also saw in his performance in the United Cup, but his efforts, especially in the mixed doubles match against Australia and also how the mixed doubles played in the final.

I will also definitely agree that he could have done better. And especially when I think about his age, which is only 26, I believe he should put on a better effort compared to what he is doing. He is like in the peak physical condition right now. Of course, if he is not injured. He should be performing literally like an animal. But I don't think we actually have seen that from him in recent times. Of course, some people are going to agree with me and some people are not going, but I think better performance is definitely expected from him.

WTA Adelaide:

Ostapenko somewhat unexpectedly defeated Caroline Garcia 6:4, 5:7, 6:4. Sad to see a top player leave at such an early stage. Latvian will be playing Marta Kostyuk in the next round.

Kasatkina v Kalinskaya just ended, and I was watching this match. Kasatkina won in three sets 5:7, 6:4, 7:5. Kalinskaya was obviously not feeling well, she had her blood pressure measured on court and she also complained about her right hip area. Too many unforced errors from her today, but she had good chances to win. Unfortunately for her, Kasatkina's defensive play was more consistent today.
