221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: April 02, 2018, 03:35:14 PM
Stratis will be out of top 40 very soon, if you don't buy more stratis, maybe we will be out of top 40 in the near future, so speed up the development and we will be big.
It's not just about speeding up development, but priorities as well. I am concerned that the team is chasing the ICO goose instead of focusing on more solid tech that would help Stratis and also Bitcoin over the longer term.
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: April 02, 2018, 03:33:56 PM
Unfortunately, the community has suffered greatly from the hacker theft of coins and this has affected the price + the market is falling very much and the coin will be very difficult to regain its former positions
How long have you been following the crypto markets? The downturn is around on par with the previous downturns. It may last anywhere from 6 months to 2+ years. If you don't think you can hold through that period, perhaps crypto isn't the right asset class for you. If you can hold through that period, it may be worth considering a small allocation to crypto. This isn't specific to NEM.

the funny thing is, that especially phases like these are the best thing in crypto. That´s the potential to make huge profits and being an early adopter!
The market doesn't care about your personal needs and motivations, sorry. If you get into crypto thinking you can make huge profits, it doesn't mean the market needs to respect that. Which is why, try and be selective with your picks and hold through the rough times if the crypto will come out stronger on the other end. Otherwise, find a different asset class that doesn't have such high volatility.
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not sell your crypto! on: April 02, 2018, 02:25:11 AM
Why not sell, I do not like Crypto at all...
In that case, I'd strongly suggest you sell everything. Maybe look into government bonds or certificates of deposits/savings accounts. That might suit your risk profile better. Good luck!

Alts will not survive this BTC crash

From your post, you should be rebrand yourself to OutsiderofCrypto.  Have some faith in cryptocurrencies.  There's only one bitcoin and everything else is an altcoin.  If altcoins don't survive, neither will bitcoins.  Both go hand in hand.
I am with you, but be careful with this sentiment. Hidden in your observation is the fact that Bitcoin is unchanging while 'alts' are changing all the time. This means, even if 'alts' survive, a specific alt may not. This is why you need to be careful picking them, and choose the high quality ones. Not all alts are going to come back once BTC recovers, only the promising ones with good tech and use cases will.

It is time.

Time for what exactly?
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not sell your crypto! on: April 02, 2018, 12:50:28 AM
Never gonna sell because i truly believe it never going lower than 3K which will be the start of a bullish market and crypto will go to the moon. Weak hands are the ones that are going to buy it to catch up. Just hold tight
It's better not to have such price targets. You really don't know that Bitcoin cannot fall below $3K. It's an educated guess based on previous cycles but history doesn't need to repeat itself. Instead, base your reasons to buy/hold based on adoption, technology, economics, etc. and you'll be in a much better position.

Alts do won't survive this BTC crash

yeah that's the very truth
If you guys haven't been in crypto for long, it might help to look up some past data to get a sense of these markets. It should also go without saying that crypto/alts/BTC isn't for everyone and if you don't have the temperament to research a lot and have a lot of patience through very high volatility, perhaps stay away from this market.

Not everybody can afford to wait it out. Those that can wait out and buy the dip will profit significantly when cycles turn back later this year or perhaps next year. Yes there will be lots of casualties but the alts with solid potential should survive.
If you cannot wait it out, perhaps crypto isn't the right asset class to put money in?
If history doesn't repeat but rhymes, we'll see a great purge but the good ones will come out stronger on the other end.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Digital Assets Management Platform on: April 01, 2018, 11:08:43 PM
The ICONOMI Digital Assets Management Platform is a new and unique technical service that allows anyone from beginners to blockchain experts to invest in and manage digital assets.
ICONOMI is more than just a marketplace for digital assets. We provide the best experience and simplest method for entering the growing distributed economy.
I really like your project! Do you have any rules of ICO? When ICO starts?
I really do not know what you are talking about, are they conducting another ICO ? . I am disappointed in the valuation of this coin at the moment as they have come down after a big rally, there was a time when the price of ICN had given me a good profit and what is the development status and when can we expect another rally.

They are not. People comment to spam to increase their post count, don't pay attention to that.

Valuation wise, yes, the cost structure of Iconomi doesn't support a good price now or in the past. With the drop in crypto markets, it might put even more pressure on the price.

Looking at the posts that you can read here lately it seems most of the people don't even bother to read the Bancor's OP or the whitepaper... their knowledge of the Bancor protocol is close to zero. So many people are just treating cryptos like apples or oranges that they can buy and sell at the market without even having to know the dufference between an apple and an orange.

That's right, they just sell and buy, they do not understand what the actual contents of the bancor, because they are only looking for a bronze in every trade.

Then it's our duty to start that conversation and make it a more intelligent discussion than what the noobs are going about.

Let's start with the absolute basics then - what's the utility of BNT as a token considering ETH is better suited to be a reserve currency in the formula, and most relays would want to be listed against ETH instead of BNT anyway?

And perhaps going forward we can keep the discussion serious.

https://news.bitcoin.com/cobinhood-delists-six-tokens-susceptible-to-pump-and-dump-limits-tether-pairs/

Cobinhood delists six tokens susceptible to Pump and Dump.

The exchange team explains that, “After careful consideration, we factored these criteria, while not exhaustive, as determinants of discontinuation. Limited trading volume on the exchange, which could potentially lead to trading malpractice (e.g. pump and dump). Poor community reception. Unestablished cooperation with the token team.”

Can anyone explain a bit more why this happened with Iconomi?

I have lost half my funds with icn
Cobinhood considers iconomi a scam?
 Grin

I have no ideas. I am asking here. They deletisted it. I posted sentence where they described reasons to delist all 6 coins. But probably each coin have different reason. I do not see a word "scam" is mentioned.

So anyone knows?

ICN's initial marketing and whitepaper put it squarely in the security category in the US and likely most of the world. They changed bits and pieces, but the strongest case is that the returns to investors are dependent on the efforts of the management team, which still remains true. Exchanges are a bit hesitant to add tokens that look like securities due to regulatory pressures and because they don't have the necessary licenses to operate such exchanges for securities. Don't think this has anything to do with 'scam' though.

Bitcoin is showing it's power and why it is the King of cryptocurrency.  The whole market is affected when Bitcoin is falling.  At the moment 99 of the top 100 on coinmarketcap is red and the 1 green coin (digixdao) is barely holding on.  Once all the FUD clears up, the market will be green again.  Stratis will rebound just as fast as it went down.
Lol don't blame Bitcoin for the market misery of the alts. The alts usually fall much more than Bitcoin in a bear market, and rise higher in a bull market. If this bear market becomes prolonged, expect this trend to continue for many more months.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 28, 2018, 04:28:52 AM
ICO's are used for start ups to achieve funding to build a project. There is no need for an ICO if your project is completed. Therefor, saying that "no ICO has gone anywhere" doesn't make much sense. It's similar to saying that putting gas in your car is pointless, because it didn't get you to where you needed to go.
Gas and ICOs are fuel to make progress, they are not progress themselves.

If the project's that good then go get some VC funding and don't expect the saps that inhabit cryptoland to pay for it.

So far the only way you can make money out of ICOs is by offloading them on to other people with dollar signs in their eyes and it's probably always going to be that way. It's a fundamentally insulting and unsustainable model.
Not everything can be VC funded. For example, if you're a remote team, your chances of getting funded are already slim. Not everyone lives in Silicon Valley or the US. ICOs are a genuinely novel and important way to fund projects.

That being said, yes, there is a lot of abuse and 99% of the them will likely fail. But lets not throw the baby away with the bathwater.

This bear season is really taking its toll . Stratis is not spared from it despite its continuos superb developments and milestones. Derailing the upcoming ICOs for stratis is really a miss to launch in a way .
True. I wish Stratis focused on its technical roadmap of masternode and tumblebit instead of chasing after the ICO platform with questionable companies like Gluon. That would definitely make it stand out from the ICO crowd.

Newest update of the ICN website:

https://www.iconomi.net/daa-list

They could make it so that you could click the desired column and sort the DAAs by best to worst or something like that...
This is a good list, but lacks a few basic elements. The first thing I would need is to give returns not just in USD but in terms of ETH and BTC as well. That way, I can really see the under/over performance independent of the market conditions or my preferred base crypto (BTC or ETH).
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: March 27, 2018, 10:40:23 PM
This dump of the stratis, so disappointed, I hesitated to sell at 65 but believed in it, what a mistake.
It is better to sell now than panic sell later at a much lower price. Crypto bear markets can be brutal especially if you don't have an experience of living through one in the past.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 27, 2018, 10:38:48 PM
When do we know details about proximax ico? There will be stakes at particular price or ex. 100$ entry will be possible as well? (Smaller units or whole stakes?)

Why consider any ICO, let alone one associated with NEM? So far all of the NEM based ones have gone nowhere. I don't see that changing. NEM itself needs a shit ton more visibility first. Even then most of them will simply be you gifting money to them.

I don't know about the other NEM ICOs but Bankera's SpectroCoin has effectively stolen all my funds. I got burned in a previous ICO (not NEM related) last year. I think I'm pretty much done with ICOs for good, even if they are NEM based. The advantage of having more and more NEM tokens is that it brings interest and visibility to XEM and the NEM technology, and over all will increase transactions, which is good news for XEM harvesters. The tokens themselves, though, are likely not worth that much.
It is hard to make a sustained return on ICOs since a vast majority underperform the market significantly. It is not a bad idea to slow down your ICO investments and put it into NEM instead, and make a small amount harvesting while waiting to ride out the downturn.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: March 26, 2018, 11:04:05 PM
Stratis is worth much more than current price! We need good news to excite the price and hope bitcoin's fluctuation won't affect the price of Stratis price.

All markets are under the control of Bitcoin that is the big reason why all markets are under huge pressure. But we have good opportunity when this will enter into recovery mode than it will break the barrier of 100k easily.

When you write 100k easily, do you mean 100k price of BTC or you mean on something else? And I am agree with you, this will be different story when recovery start.

I think he was talking about the price of stratis going back to a 100K sats per unit. Well that's not going to happen anytime soon. Especially in this downtrend. News or not. Stratis has been sleeping for quite a while. I remember when the price was over 500K Satoshi. Look where it is now. It would need to make a 100x increase to return to the BTC ATH value.
I think you mean 10x not 100x.

In bear markets, alts tend to underperform Bitcoin, based on past trends.
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 26, 2018, 05:59:24 PM
This coin just cannot catch a break. Everytime the overall marketcap takes a dump, nem sheds more sats. It just can't seem to gain any ground with the market being the way it is. It's pretty disappointing. I know many of the others are losing ground as well, but nem is the only one outside the top 10 and down at #15 now.

I think you should sell now, since NEM can definitely go down more, and so can the market. If your timeframe is few weeks to a few months, NEM is unlikely to deliver for you day in and day out, and it also comes with higher volatility as you rightly pointed out.

Just make sure not to come back to the thread in the next bull run about how you missed out to big gains or what not.
