461  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-20] CoinMarketCap Rehauls Exchange Listings on: July 21, 2018, 08:51:42 PM
In the past i heard a lot of of noise about exchanges inflaiting the volumes but did not pay atttention to this, till recently i noticed something strange at exrates exchnage, the traiding activities of token were strange the amounts were very similar and these kind of trades where done 100  times a day. IT was the first time that i saw bots and fake volumes .
It is great that CMC is trying to combat this practice.
462  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-18] Cryptocurrency Rally Builds Steam as Bitcoin Surpasses $7,500 on: July 21, 2018, 08:41:17 PM
I agree that China does did not have an impact this time.
I am actaully impressed how BTC has hold up and performed in the last week , because i was already mentally getting ready for another dump to 5000$ level, it seems that it could spike again in short term.
463  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-20] Samsung Stores in the Baltic States Now Accept Cryptocurrencies on: July 21, 2018, 08:36:29 PM

If that were the case, may I ask whether there are many crypto users within your area as well? It would be strange if there is wide acceptance if cryptos is not so popular nor widely used. I don't see why other merchants would bother into adding crypto as a payment if people within the area don't use it so much anyway. Although this would add to good promotion for crypto. Also, why would Samsung make the move of accepting crypto as a payment if it's not so popular within the area?

Not realy , there are not many crypto users. I mentioned the ICO number because in my mind this is the only thing that is more developed in Baltics compared to other EU countries. Periodicaly i hear that some company has started to accept cryptos but in the end it seems to be just a merkting trick to get more exposure in media. Some time back Latvian airline " Airbaltic" was in the news for accepting BTC https://www.airbaltic.com/airbaltic-worlds-first-airline-to-accept-bitcoin , recently red that they are not accepting after all.

Hope that Samsung stores will actually do it.

Who manages and owns these stores? Presumably not Samsung themselves.

A cool little development all the same. Let's see it integrated into Samsung pay itself for some real arousal.

It seems that in Latvia, the 2 stores are owned by authorised retailer and the company is only few years old.

Sveiki visiem!

Paldies.

Kāpēc lai nevarētu, normālas kartes.

Problēmas ir, kad regulāri cash out taisa, var nobloķēt, viņiem labāk patīk, ja iepērkās.

Kura labāka nepateikšu, pēc VISA ban esmu off no kartēm.

Kas par VISA bans? Ko tu ar to doma?

Pirmo reizi dizrdu ka bloķētu VISU cashout deļ Cheesy
Man šķiet ka sakarā ar "visa ban" Egoitss bija domājis to notikumu, kad ar vienu no VISA partneriem ,kurš nodrošināja maksājumus crypto kartēm  , VISA pārtruaca strādāt līdz ar to daudzas crypto kartes nomira,
465  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-20] Samsung Stores in the Baltic States Now Accept Cryptocurrencies on: July 21, 2018, 12:43:24 PM
Noted: Cryptocurrencies, in particular, have been extremely popular in the Baltic states and digital assets have broad acceptance in states like Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. There is a great variety of merchants that accept bitcoin payments for coffee, apartments, bars, restaurants, hotels, specialty shops, clothing stores, and massage parlors.
and Now Samsung in Baltic states gets into the business, although they cooperate with CopPay to convert crypto into euro, imagine if Samsung will accept bitcoin payment in global scale even though through a partnership with several fintech platforms. But of course, bitcoin need more acceptance and regulation will play the role to set it up.

I am from Riga,Latvia. And this is a big overstatement regarding the wide acceptence of cryptos. This is very rare adn I would say that not much different then in other EU countries, I have to note that the ICO number could indeed by higher than in other regions.

Regarding the Samsung shops, I was rather suprised that there is even offical Samsung shops. After this article i checked , there are 2 of them in Riga, i will probably check them out and check the possibilty of crypto payments- how they work in reality.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 500$ investment on altcoin on: July 15, 2018, 07:32:46 PM
I want to invest 500$ on altcoin but I really confused on which coin I can invest and my investment will be long term. Please experts help me to choose altcoin to invest.

It seems that OP has a poor skills of chosing projects-Ihis signature, MPRESSIO was a scam.

I have already told this once today and on risking to be sapmmy, i would recommend, the same coins whihc i believe will perform well .
Form the top 100
1) NEo
2) PUNDI X

From the small ones

BUT DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 99% OF ALL AIRDROPS ARE SCAMS!!!!! on: July 15, 2018, 07:29:25 PM
The title of this thread is bit provocative, but the fact is that most people have a bad experience with airdrops. According to several airdrop hunters I spoke to, the majority ICOs don't pay out at all.

What's your experience with airdrops? Did you get scammed most of the times?

How Airdop could be a scam?

The only way I can imagine is that they ask for your id and then not pay you or pay you and sell the id in anycase.
if this is the case, then just dont go for those who ask for your ID.
468  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Bitcoin now on: July 15, 2018, 07:25:10 PM
🚨«Buy Bitcoin now!»
🔸Dan Morehead, the founder of crypto-oriented investment firm Pantera Capital Management, says now it’s a good time to buy Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

🔸“Get invested now so that in three, four, five months when the institutional, quality-regulated custodians that we're hearing about come online, they'll already have their positions,” he added.

🔸According to Morehead, investors could buy a cryptocurrency once it breaks its 230-day moving average, which is a technical indicator, and hold it for one year. This might generate an average 239% return, he says.

I would say that this is not something complete BS. Since the market is pretty low right now.
And if we believe that we are going to have a second and much bigger BUL RUN as in the case of stocks in the past, then yea, buying is a good option.

But keep in mind noone, noone know what will happen in the future. Everyone is just trying their best to aproximate.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Campaign are wastage of time? on: July 15, 2018, 07:21:20 PM
No. Bounty campaigns are a good thing IF ones doe snot spam the forum with meaningless posts and spam wich is a problem in this forum, thhus the merit system was invented.

Also you have to be smart enough to chose decent campaign, whihc is not promoting complete shit like inventing new technology and stay away from ICO's which are saying that they wil give out a bonuses every week or month , they all are scams. #bitconnect.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Long time holding, is it a smart thing to do? on: July 15, 2018, 07:18:22 PM
Long time holding is a smart thing to do as far as crypto currency is concern. I have realize that, investors try to play smart in the crypto business in that, they begin to dump most tokens to cause a decline in token prices. This will in turn pave way for them to buy more tokens in other for them to hold for long and sell at higher prices when token values shoot up. In spite of this, is long term holding a smart thing to do as a bounty hunter and why?

I would say that in most cases, yes it would be smart to hold fir long term.
But on the other hand you should look at the particular crypto asset and think of their roadmap, their market cycles and so on and then decide when it is time to take osme profit.
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will the MARKET increase? on: July 15, 2018, 07:16:29 PM

We do not know when the exchange will increase in MARKET, many are afraid to invest. because they might beat us what we should do.

they do not want to sell because they are low.
Those who want to buy a token do not want to sell because of low fat. Sad

it is question of new funds getting in market.
Second thing is the psyholgical effects which is market cycles- the bear trend, it should be done in near future but to get in new Bull trend we ned new funds or just SEC saying that it approves one of the ETF proposals.
472  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase adding 5 more new coins on: July 15, 2018, 07:13:04 PM
The new coins that are adding are those Coinbase is working to make these assets suitable for future transactions to their customers.
Quote
Unlike the ongoing process of adding Ethereum Classic, which is technically very similar to Ethereum, these assets will require additional exploratory work and we cannot guarantee they will be listed for trading.
Currently It is a popular exchange. Do you think it was more advanced in Coinbase's popularity?
Continue The Coinbase Blog

To be honest, I am a bit concerned about ZCash.
Since ZCash is consdiered a privacy coin and I dont think that Coinbase will risk and ist assets which are privacy oriented because of potential problems which can arise from regularatory laws.
473  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/11]Crypto Wallet Founder Believes Bitcoin Could Hit $60,000 This Year on: July 12, 2018, 11:46:34 PM
All these new ATH before end of they year predictions sound completely crazy to me, it's not 2011 anymore when market cycles were  short. Are people really that scared to admit the fact that we have entered bear market and that it will be long, or are there just trying to slow down the fall with their moon promises? This might even do more harm than good, because people who took these predictions too seriously will get really disappointed when there will be no rally by the end of this year, this might even make some to sell.

Short is relative , short relative to what?

If we take Dotcom bubble and directly compare the bull run ( after normalising by peak value) of Btc,crypto bull runs seems to be going in light speed compared to stocks. Thus I dont see problem in timeline, but the value of this predictions is in my mind exagerated . The only thing that could give a fightning chance to get a decent bull run going would be new money coming in thru new financial instruments.
474  Other / Meta / Re: Truth about bitcointalk users 2.0 on: July 12, 2018, 11:35:07 PM
I'm assuming you’ve scrapped most of the user profile of those 2M account. If so, it could be interesting to see a few other things with just that information, without having to cross the files with anything else. Things such as distributions by:

-Number of posts: for example ->  0,1,2,3,4,5,5-10, more. This is rather more specific for the immense amount of newbie accounts, and would allow us to see when they stop (after how many posts).

- Last Active :grouped by some sort of criteria  such as -> last 30 days, 30-90, 90-180, 180-365, > 365.  That would give us an idea, for each rank, how many are active. The “active” measure with this definition is not of a Boolean nature, but rather more like a “state”.

Of course, that is your prerogative if you see it fit and think it can throw-in some more information.

Thanks for the info so far. I’ve already referenced it twice today on separate posts to strengthen my point of view on two different matters.

You are right, i have scraped 2million users so far.
I will defintely think of what can i do to show information you suggested, it would be interesting. It seems that there is big interest to see more on "new account" statistics. Smiley

Hi! I got that, I just thought if we want to get a fair statistics - we should exclude number of IP banned accounts, because, as for me, most of them (who are real users, not bots) could create new one`s and therefore we are counting same people several times. If you don`t like this suggestion - OK, It was your own initiative to get this nubmers anyway. It just seemed, that old forum users may not got the whole picture so I took a shot on explaining some specailties.

Good job and interesting infirmation, by the way. Smiley

My apolgies if I came across as not welcoming.
I learned something new from your post, thanks for your input Smiley
475  Other / Meta / Re: Truth about bitcointalk users 2.0 on: July 12, 2018, 12:42:43 PM
It seems to me, you, peolpe, overloocking one substantional circumstance in you research regarding Brand New members. Thing is, you often can`t register and not get a ban at once even from you own IP adress, espesially if you are a TOR user. But sometimes (as was in my case) you just randomly get some point of evel (like, about 10 or smth) and can`t post a thing till you pay some fee, less than comission. So, naturally most of new users don`t know about IP ban feature untill they try to register and in most cases, unsuccessfully. So, here comes another acc or two or three, and most of them are pictured green in that diagram. They`re just dead accounts, nobody will ever post from `em, that`s why this number of Brand News.
If you want real numbers, you should get a quantity of IP banned accs and exclude such ones from calculations.

The research as you call it, is not mean to analyse activity of these users.
My goal was just to show the distrubution of positions and yes the mojority are " Brand new " users, from which a good part is spambots another part are banned users and if i have to guess - almost all of them are not activ memebers.

There is potential for deeper analysis here.
476  Other / Meta / Re: Truth about bitcointalk users 2.0 on: July 12, 2018, 10:56:54 AM
You should exclude the brand new users from your stats. They are likely to be spam bots that are banned.

That is quite some stat in itself, 73.35% of new accounts got nuked.

I agree that the other percentages would give a better representation with those having been removed from the figures first.

I am thinking that i willl make a post with full position distrubution from id 1 to date some time in future .
I will make a better representation regarding the positions who actualy contrubute to the forum, but the " Brand New" postion and perecentage also should be noted since it is a huge part of statistcs.

It goes back to 2016/12/13 thanks to taptoshi, who is no longer active on the forum.  Sad

Unfortunately the modlog has no dates.   I can start collecting the date now when I scrape it from the log file, but past records are not timestamped.  I could guesstimate the date range based on the ID number like the OP though.

That's a decent sample size. I guess the exact date isn't that important, I was just interested in what sort of percentage of new accounts do get nuked in recent times as opposed to years ago.

I agree, this could indeed be interesting to see.
At this point i think that best I can do is how many of Brand New positions are banned and how many are spam accounts.

477  Other / Meta / Truth about bitcointalk users 2.0 on: July 11, 2018, 11:32:17 PM
In this post I have done position analysis on Bitcointalk users in range from id=1'000'000 to id=2'000'000. Users with this range of id's were registered from 2017/05/11 to 2018/04/03.

Without further ado, Here is the distrubution of postions of second million bitcointalk users

  • Brand New   733503   73,35%
  • Newbie         212864   21,28%
  • Jr. Member    33395     3,34%
  • Member        13682     1,36%
  • Full Member  6334       0,63%
  • Sr.Member     222        0,02%
  • Hero               0            0%
  • Legendary      0            0%

How we can see there is no Hero and Legendary users, this is not surprising since these positions requires high level of activity .

P.s. If you have any ideas on what kind of information you would like to see, let me know. Smiley

478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is ICO period long? on: July 03, 2018, 06:01:13 PM
This is very simple, they want more money!

They did reach their goal in the past period , thus they pro long the ICO in order to get more funds.
I have been in similar situation in bounty and this is not pleasant.

Normally bounty manager and the team should allow people to stop their work and save their stakes but this unfortunately always happens. Also i have seen when some ICOs increase bounty pool.
479  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN AND ITS ENDING? on: July 03, 2018, 05:57:35 PM
Is there any ending or not?

The only thing that could end bitcoin is something that is better or quantum computer.
The latter is still science fiction altough some poeple want to thing that it is just around the corner, it is not.

About the first possibilty, it is hard to imagine to thin kof somthing more revolutanry than this but on the other hand when we did not have BTC, noone could imagine it either.
480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best place to live if you are a Bitcoiner? on: July 03, 2018, 05:51:36 PM
I would say that the most firndly country is Swistzerland .

I have red only good things about their increased adoption of crypto.
Afterall this is their busisnes in general , they want your gold, silver , fiat and crypto also.

But there is a downside, it is bloody expensive country. So you could be better of in other EU country.
