581  Economy / Economics / Re: $42,000 dollars to buy Bitcoin and Litecoin - Time to buy? on: April 23, 2017, 12:38:17 PM
Wow, you really got to be out of your mind to make all-in into Litecoin!
So many people are constantly saying that this is a dead-coin, that even if I would be sure about my analysis, that wouldn't let me sleep, the crowd attidute is so overwhelming.

Indeed, it may have some really nice chance, because of the possible SegWit implementation, but in my opinion that just hyped that crypto, it didn't got any stronger than before, except the volume going up, but I do not expect to see it on that number for a long time, It is going to drop as soon as ltc will be not so loud among our community.
582  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price? on: April 23, 2017, 12:32:54 PM
I think depending on the strength of our money, if we have stock of the bitcoin dominant than circulating in the market then we easily manipulate the price of the bitcoin.

The people that holds a lot of bitcoin can have the power to manipulate the price of it. And we know on how the whales are manipulating the market and there are pump and dump groups that are helping each other to get some decent profit. There is a way to manipulate bitcoins price but it is not that an easy thing if you only have very few.
I think big capital will still be difficult to use to manipulate bitcoin prices. If they do not have a good plan. One person is not enough to manipulate bitcoin prices

When you have a big capital, it's pretty obvious that others have a big capital also. Your chance to manipulate the
price is when you have a big percentage of holding on the pie or the total circulation to make it simple.
Yes, but it is not that easy with manipulating bitcoin.
The market capitalization of it is insanely huge right now, which makes any manipulating very hard, even for the big fishes at the markets.
Currently, its $19,907,616,193 so how do you manipulate a market like that? Only during special incidents, that is possible to launch a big burst of specific positions to achieve your goal.

I think that most of the people who want to manipulate market on cryptocurrencies, are going for some altcoins, probably these cheap ones.
583  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do conservative worldwide oppose "drugs" legalization? on: April 23, 2017, 11:21:37 AM
The answer for that question is incredibly simple in my opinion, however there might be many different correct replies you can make.

One of them is that gangs and criminal groups do want illegal drugs because that can make them very rich, the profits from drug traffic and drug dealing are enormous.

Another one is medical industry. They do not want to see weed legalized, because it can cure or help in thousands of different illnesses. The sales of their pills would have gone down, after all why would anyone take a pill for a headache if you can simply smoke a little bit of weed, to get  well?
584  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: April 23, 2017, 10:53:27 AM
That rule is actually a good one, i like that idea.
I can make my own reference to that, about 5 months ago i had boughr somewhere between 60-70 LTC, mostly for gambling purposes, because everone was insanely pesimistic about this altcoin. That it is a dead-coin, not even able to increase its price or volume.

I obviously have converted those LTCs back to bitcoins, even with profit on the difference between rate, but the possible SegWit made price going so high!
I really regret not holding them longer.
585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi all, new user here on: April 22, 2017, 06:40:28 PM
There should be some kind of a tutorial for new bitcoin users (Im not saying it doesnt exist) which would be very popular and easy to find.
The most important thing in this tutorial would be why you should not download the bitcoin core as a new-born in this world (at least, I think that is one of the most important aspects).

Everybody can be scared about the amount of data needed to download for using it, and the newbie can think like "So, if I can only use bitcoin by bitcoincore, then Im going to quit that because Im not going to download over 100 GB of data just to transfer money!".

Im pretty tired of teaching the new people here to not use bitcoincore, but different wallets which do not require such an action.
586  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Price 1200 USD Means - Bitcoin Mining Is Profitable, Even For Beginners on: April 22, 2017, 06:30:24 PM
of course its profitable, but you have to wait approximately 1 year
That is not like that, you have to wait about 1 year but only if you mining project is already launched.
First of all, it is profitable only for a big players that are able to invest big piles of bitcoins into it, or just large quantities of cash.
Otherwise, you are not going to make the profit because the difficulty will still rise with every new machine starting mining, and the halving is getting closer and closer.

Bear in mind two things: don't go into bitcoin mining if you are not ready to spend at least dozen of thousands $, and dont go into bitcoin mining if you dont have cheap electricity.
587  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is pakistan threat to the world on: April 22, 2017, 06:20:30 PM
there are more dangerous countries such as North Korea and Iran. I like Pakistan Smiley
Why do you think that Iran is more dangerous than Pakistan, can you give me some reasons please? I have never thought that someone may consider Iran as a threat to other, big and developed countries.
But i have to agree, North Korea is probably more dangerous than the previously mentioned country. Indeed, Pakistan has really huge amount of uranium resources, but they are not so stupid to start a nuclear war without any reason.

I would not be so sure about North Korea, they are the threat to the peace on our planet, because they are totally not afraid of launching their nuclear rockets on some independent country.

I hope that everybody knows what is going to happen when anyone will launch nukes aimed in different country?
An apocalypse.
588  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Artificial intelligence. on: April 22, 2017, 06:12:30 PM
It has long been the development of artificial intelligence. We've all seen the movie "Terminator" and we know where it may lead. On the other hand for a person is very attractive to shift all the work to robots. You for which option?
Firstly, I think that this thread should have been created in the "Off-Topic" section, not at "politics & society" because it is still a science-fiction mostly, we dont have real artifical intelligence in use, there are only different kinds of prototypes made on particular scientific projects.

Same as @Scott J, I dont think we need to take AI as something dangerous, which we should never research and implement anywhere.
Indeed, it might be something lethal at some point when technology will go years forward, but we can see just too many branches of industry where AI would make a huge difference to ignore that issue.

Films like "Terminator" is just a science-fiction, dont forget about that.
589  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the best trading site now? on: April 21, 2017, 07:53:56 AM
I used to trade crypto back in 2014 but left it since. Heard bitcoin talk on the radio few days ago so decided to get back into the game. Read up about recent tradings and notice that polo seems to be the IT trading site now with a very high volume. So is polo the best trading site?

I would this is a bad opinion you have chose. Please again start again your bitcoin trading path in Yobit, polenix and localbitcoins.com
Now price is moving to peak value again. Therefore, you can make bitcoins as a profit from the trading now. All will look into sell out their bitcoins for their needs and that make you to see the success in trading.
I pretty much cannot understand why do you advice him using YoBit, this strange cryptocurrency exchange lists some different types of altcoins that was just created, when im sure that more over a half of them will die or get dumped in next two months.
I wouldnt go at such a website, where the company doesnt care about their clients money, but instead the only think about commision from every trade.

Yes, poloniex so far is the best place when you can basically convert the coins into the other ones, without any risk and on great rates, thanks to high volume and mamy people present on this website.
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Valar Morghulis, All ShitCoins must die on: April 21, 2017, 07:47:38 AM
Bitcoin will be still the cryptocurrency number one, without some new well-developed altcoin with a good team standind behind it, BTC will hold its supremacy.

Community over here knows that very well so does market too. That is why all shit coins are going to die:
The market doesnt forgive, and if freshly created new cryptocurrency is shady, or not transparent in working, market will know what and im sure that people are going to stay away from such an alts.
591  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcoin - Need some advice on: April 20, 2017, 09:48:21 PM
Hello,

I am new to bitcoin, I have managed to set up a wallet on blockchain and on coinbase.
I am also aware of bitaddress and how to upload my wallet to blockchain.

That said, can anyone explain to me the cheapest method of buying BTC?
Also, what is purpose of buying / saving BTC?

How do people go about trading BTC?

Should I be using  an online BTC wallet when buying & storing BTC and what one is best if so?

If anyone could give me an inspiring newbies crash course as to why i should be buying BTC and uses / purposes of it along with strategy and practical educational info I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Hero
You can choose many different ways to acquire some bitcoins, for example you can buy them directly from the people that have it, and living in the same city. A good site to conduct these sort of trades is localbitcoins.com

There is also a possibility to buy bitcoins through cryptocurrency exchange, but you need bank account for that, to have a chance to pay for bitcoins, unless you have money at paypal. If you have Paypal you are likely to have to submit verification.

Bitcoins ATMs are kind of expensive because they change the fee, the average is somewhere close to 7% so i dont recommend that.
592  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Equipment on: April 19, 2017, 03:33:35 PM
Good day. May I ask how mining really works technically? And what is the composition of the mining equipment? What is the difference in mining equipment of bitcoins and altcoins? I would like to learn how to make one, just for the learning and fun. Thank you.
The times when you could have use your own desktop PC to mine bitcoins and stay on profit, has passed and will never be back.
You just simply pay more for the electricity, than the bitcoins mined will be worth Smiley To obtain some of this great cryptocurrency not through any kind of exchange, but just through mining it then you will need to buy some specialized machines for tha, called the mining rigs.
Their prices are usually kind of high, and the whole business won't be worth to start if you dont have really cheap/free electricity in your region.

As i can see that you have newbie rank, i would recommend you just not thinking about mining any bitcoins, if you really want to get involved in that, then go with altcoins (unless you are able to pay a lot to start mining bitcoin)
593  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC doing good after this big dump on: April 19, 2017, 03:29:48 PM
What big dump exactly? There wasn't any huge or vwry important change in price, I would call it a smaller correction. That hasn't influenced the price big deal and the price has recovered and back to track very soon. This has also shown that Bitcoin is more stable and resistant then it was ever before.
That's correct, and probably same like you I dont get the incident that OP is talking about, there was no big dump actually, at least I couldnt find any.
The post was made at 13 April, and there is actually some price decrease in the history, but it is the tiny difference, considering it is a bitcoin, and the price of it is one of the highest in the whole history.
Price was around the 1220$ level, when it got back to 1160-1170$, which is nothing special for me, because I have been into bigger downward surges than this one.

I still have faith in bitcoin, and im hope that most of the price drops are just temporary.
594  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: best way to invest about 80$ on: April 19, 2017, 03:20:31 PM
where to invest about 80$ as BTC
No gambling or risky methods

just guaranteed methods ?
80$ is pretty a small sum to invest in bitcoins, especially in some different asset.
But if you have the required knowledge, then you might to multiply that small amount of bitcoin, into something bigger.

You can never forget that there are no guaranteed methods, because everything contains some risk in the investment, so you might lose the part of money, or sometimes even all, if you do totally wrong investments.
80$ is around 0.066 bitcoins right now, which might be enough to do some decent trading with that, on altcoins obviously.
I really doubt that you will be able to multiply your 80$ many times without doing many exchanges on the markets, because only that might be succesful on a long run, if you are well-educated in alt markets.
595  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Restaurants accepting bitcoin! on: April 19, 2017, 03:09:30 PM
I dont see any point in using bitcoins for paying in the restaurants or in a bar, because I have found that it would not be worth for the customers.
Nowadays, bitcoin is literally not being used for micropayments, because it is hard to pay small bills with an asset, that requires such a big fee to send even tiny transaction.
Obviously you can always use https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ , but it is still going to be a high miner commision.

Before implementing some decent solution about block size, we won't have really more places that accept bitcoin. I hope that most of the miners will get convinced by the rest of the community, and will go with the SegWit instead of Bitcoin Unlimited.
596  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Platforms that sell bitcoin? on: April 19, 2017, 03:01:33 PM
Nowadays, we have a really big number of exchanges, where we can use our money to buy different currencies or altcoins, all that depends on the type of the exchange.
Many people have been using Bitfinex, but they have suspended the wire deposits now, so people are panicly trying to get out of this exchange.
I can also suggest you using Poloniex, Kraken or Bitstamp.

But if you are looking for peer to peer way to buy a bitcoin, then you can try with localbitcoins.com or paxful.
I think one of this options will satisfy you, most of them do not suffer for any issues.
597  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Coindroids - On-chain strategy game with coin payouts on: April 18, 2017, 01:48:12 PM
Looks like a great game. But who do I play against?
Another player or computer?
Also send me an invite. Thanks.
You play against players over here, every one of them owns a droid listed to exact address ( for now it is for litecoins only), I recommend you launching their website, and reading carefully the whole "how to play" tab, here is the URL: https://www.coindroids.com/gettingStarted.

Actually, I would start to play over there, but I do not own any litecoins right now, and they are necessary to start, Im not able to list the wallet to my droid without sending transaction I guess?
Bitcoin version might get really popular in my opinion, the game concept is really great, and I actually like that every block mined is 1 round in the game.

I hope you will encounter success, and that you will get a good support from the bitcoin community during creation of this game, you really deserve it for such a good job that you have already made.
598  Economy / Speculation / Re: My take on BU's long-term impact on the price of BTC on: April 18, 2017, 01:31:49 PM
It's a tie. Segwit has won on every department, but the hashrate is still blocked by a centralizing actor, which is ridiculous but that's how the system works.
UASF is an option, to attack this ridiculous centralization.

It is slightly bonkers that a handful of people can do this. Look at what Litecoin's getting up to with the prospect of Segwit and they don't have the slightest scaling problem either.

It just goes to show how little vision the average miner who isn't enjoying asicboost has.

That's why BTC will get segwit with either hashrate or UASF because what the people want, we didn't sign up for Jihan Coin where a single person gets to block everything else. So signal what users want or get UASF.

you got things all backwards, Jihan isn't a threat to bitcoin. Blockstream is.
SegWit is a poison pill to bitcoin, and I'm glad litecoin is being a good labrat (because that's all they're good for) and takes the poison pill for us.
maybe that will safe bitcoin.
but blockstream might just blame the death of litecoin on something else.

What is the worst thing which could go wrong with Litecoin implementing Segwit? Nothing.
It could only prove whether Segwit is scalable or not.
In the end, we need some method to increase the transaction capacity of Bitcoin.
I agree, litecoin was called a dead-coin ( and for some people nothing has changes ), but I cannot understand why, people were talking that there is no possibility that LTC will increase it's price, because it has no practical usage, and it is not even possible to successfully speculate on this altcoin, but all that has turned out to be not true.

As we can see, LTC got hyped a lot thanks to the possible SegWit implementation, what is a very good event. We may see at least how SegWit will work with litecoin, for me it is something like an experiment.
If SegWit will work good for litecoin, then im one hundred percent sure that the support for SegWit among the miners will increase.
599  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Advice for a newb in the UK please on: April 18, 2017, 01:26:45 PM
Hi, I'd like to try my hand at trading with a small amount of BTC/Altcoins here in the UK but could do with some advice if anyone can help?

Can I trade freely on non UK based exchanges like poloniex etc ? Are there any restrictions/pitfalls I need to know about, especially being UK based ?

Thanks for any advice whatsoever!
I would like to ask, why do you think that you cannot trade freely on non UK based exchange?
There is no restrictions as far as I know, especially in such a country as UK. You can just trade on every single exchange you want, if it is not easy for you to convert the bitcoins/altcoins you have there into fiat, then just simply make a transaction with those funds on the other exchanges ( why not UK-based ) just to have an ability to exchange the cryptocurrency for real money.

Obviously, for all this you need bank account to be able of getting the payment out of the cryptocurrency exchange, unless you are going to choose localbitcoins.com and sell them for cash.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When to leave the game? on: April 18, 2017, 01:06:05 PM
It's a very relative question, but I can say that when you make more money than you expected, you should seriously consider getting out, especially when that money is enough to solve your life's problems.
In my opinion, it is a very personal question for anyone, because everybody has some different goals, and some particular expectations, when entering the game.
I suppose that some of the people do not look for any kind of a goal when starting gambling ( which is stupid, because if you figure out the goal you may reach, it may prevent you from loosing all funds, thanks to stopping in a good moment ) because they are entering into the game with assumption that everything is going to be fine, and they will stop when they want.

It doesn't looks like that, in my opinion you should never make up goal that you cannot accomplish without massive amount of luck.
If you are depositing e.g 0.1 btc to some gambling site, goal of 0.11 btc is already very risky, because that brings 10% of return in short time.

All is up to you, the most important thing is to not let the emotions overcome logical thinking.
