It's not THAT clever... Some day the market cap will be so high, and laundering so effortless, that scum like this will even use Bitcoin when kidnapping human beings. I'm sure I'm not the first one to realize this.
I realize Bitcoin has the potential to bring much more good to the world, but early on this was hard for me to accept.
The anonymity aspect of bitcoin isn't so important. The best part of bitcoin is the fact that we can outsource the bankers and replace them with machines in foreign countries. |

To my knowledge, you can't combine ebay and the concept of the penny auction unless you are willing to serve as a pawn shop and take on all sale risk yourself. It kind of seems like you are losing a ton of money... Have any products been delivered? Penny auctions are hugely profitable if they are well advertised and have good traffic. They are like a lottery/auction combined. Items can generate many times the revenue than they are worth. It's pretty much a scam, but it is legal. |

Yeah, in short, I produced the private keys offline, printed them once, wiped the drive. Wiped with cp /dev/zero /dev/sda twice.
The only copy I have is the physical copy that will go inside future coins. I don't have a copy of any I have sent out already. I don't need the private keys to load them, just the bitcoin address.
Yes I am aware of the typo on the holograms. Didn't see it until it was too late. Another batch of holograms is in production with this fixed (and other improvements).

Bitcoin is an experiment, both in technological and in sociological sense, that some of you people perceive it as a already done, soon to be dominant paradigm shows that it very well could also fail on the latter issue.
I would say that crypto-currency is a new technology and bitcoin is our experiment with it. Like any new technology, we can make adjustments to get it right. The open source approach keeps it honest and peer reviewed. When we discover how powerful are its properties, then the experimental phase will transition into the industrial phase. |

Actually, taxes have little to zero to do with it. Salaries are paid out before taxes are calculated, so in a situation where a $6,000,000 salary is being paid, with $20,000,000 remaining as pure profit, the only thing a 70% tax rate will change compared to a 30% tax rate is how much of that profit the corp will have left to give out as dividents to stockholders/retirees. In fact, raising taxes will only give corporations more incentives to squirrel money away before they calculate their final profits, whether it's to CEO bonuses, or tax deductible interest loans. Those excessive CEO salaries are actually a result of corps competing for good CEOs (very few around to chose from), and keep raising their incentives to try to attract ones of their competitors.
Back when corporate taxes were higher, they re-invested revenue back into the business, not just pay dividends that would also be taxed higher. That's why American industries were growing and a middle-class prospered. Back then Americans bought goods made in America, not by child labor in other countries. With higher taxes a CEO would have to be pretty damn stupid to "squirrel money away" like they do now because they would have to pay higher taxes on that money than they do now. |
