261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: September 04, 2013, 06:39:20 PM
More specifically with Elephantcoin, the depth of open orders is VERY shallow (less than .5 BTC).  I believe my code will take a weighted average of all open orders on Coins-E, as a result, which will lead to the small price.

Long story short - Elephantcoins needs more depth!
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Coin (GLD) Info Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [NEW THREAD] on: September 04, 2013, 05:06:01 PM
I apologize if I missed this, but with the change from gldcoind to goldcoind (and the different location for the config / block files), is it okay to rename .gldcoin .goldcoin or do I just need to redownload the whole blockchain again?
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: September 04, 2013, 04:53:50 PM
I noticed some prices are wrong in coinchoose. For example, elephantcoin (ELF):
http://www.coins-e.com/exchange/ELP_BTC/

the trades for last few days are all at or above 0.00000077, but coinchoose displays it as 0.0000003 for the last few days. Can you fix the issue?

First you have to look at open trades, not historical, then you have to look at a weighted average to a set depth.  So the pricing looks accurate still.

PLEASE consider to add an API Wink
no trading API.. just for historical data.
thx

Historical plus current, would be nice Smiley

Source is here - https://github.com/sexcoin-project/sexcoin.git

My guess is they got that networkhashrate from the getmininginfo command in the client.
That one seems to be older than those .tar.gz files which state version 0.6.3.1 while source code only shows 0.6.3.0

I always run off git.  If a coin developer is too lazy to fold in the changes, they don't count, as far as I am concerned.  My guess is there was another checkpoint that hasn't been committed yet.

Officail Thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252896.0
Github Repo : https://github.com/sexcoin-project/sexcoin-clients  (UPDATED CLIENT)

Pool 1 http://lavapit.lavajumper.com/ (12 M/h)
pool 2 http://thec0de.com/pool/
p2pool http://sexcoin.lavajumper.com:9699/static/

Present Network Hashrate 35 M/H

The coin was released on the 28th May by Chinsu who abandoned it on the 10th of June. Since then it has been under development by the community. Obviously you checked a dead thread.
GitHub isn't a place to host .tar.gz files, it is a clear misuse of the service to do that. Pool 2 seems to have zero hashrate. P2Pool seems to be down. None of them reports the network hashrate, where did you get that number?

267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: September 04, 2013, 02:16:28 PM
I'll be posting in a separate thread, but given the issue this past weekend of the change in the block reward on two coins and my inability to change it as I was away, I am looking for a partner to also help out with these tasks as well as taking the site to the next level and figuring out how better to monetize the site (since the more we can, the more useful it should be).

Anyone interested should PM me.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 04, 2013, 02:09:21 AM
where is it showing that EXC is profitable? I don't see it in coinchoose at all.

It's there Smiley

While I really appreciate people coming up with new ways to use profitability calc, I do have to correct you when you are wrong.  I do not use cached difficulty and the lag in some coins comes from broken block explorers.  My data is refreshed every five minutes.

Ok, from what I've seen I assumed it was cached data as some coins with high profitability were actually 30 000 blocks behind. The reported difficulty was many times less than the actual difficulty.

yeah - Xencoin was the one using a broken block explorer.  It was 'cached' only because that block explorer kept on reporting the old blocks.  All other coins, when functioning correctly, should be updated at the longest with a 5 minute lag

It uses the same formula as CoinChoose but is more accurate (doesn't use cached difficulty data) and allows me to add coins not supported by CoinChoose. It refreshed every 20 minutes or so and changes the mined coin if a more profitable coin is found.

271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: September 03, 2013, 07:08:29 PM
I am using CoinChoose few months, I think that this is site that I refresh the most times by one day and every time I see a new coin I try to click its name in "Coin" column to get a info, but no, I had always to do a search for an coin informations on forum, search for pools and exchanges accepting it.
So few days ago I decided to make my own coin directory with all necessary info for dealing with it.

Topic on this forum - Suggestions are welcome Smiley

Main site: Crypto-currency directory

So now my friends and I use CoinChoose and my directory simultaneously.

I hope it will be useful for other people and the rest of community.

Looks good - kinda like wheretomine.com Smiley
272  Economy / Services / Advertising on CoinChoose on: September 03, 2013, 05:43:58 PM
As my last sponsor seems to have disappeared, just seeing if anyone is interested in advertising on CoinChoose.  I get about 6,000 visitors per day, and depending on the amount, we can work out an infinite amount of places I will put the ad Smiley

I am watching.  CoinChoose really keys off of difficulty and ability to generate the coins - what do you suggest as the potential meter to compare real currencies? Smiley

275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TomPool][Alt Coin Multipool - ANC/DGC/EZC/FLO/GLD/GME/MEM/MNC/RYC/XNC] on: September 03, 2013, 12:41:19 PM
I've made a rather big change to Tompool, I'm not using CoinChoose anymore. Profitability is now calculated based on the same formula used by CoinChoose but its using my local wallets and the current exchange rate at Cryptsy for data.

This means I can add coins that aren't on CoinChoose, and the data is far more reliable. For example I've noticed Xencoin on the top of the CoinChoose list a lot recently, but CoinChoose is 30 000 blocks behind meaning its basing profitability on difficulty from a while ago. I think they use cached data that isn't always updated.

I'm also working on a profitability calculator, at the moment my code takes a hashrate then estimates how many coins per day you'll earn right now at each pool on Tompool. It also converts this value to LTC I just need to plug it into the website.

I might bring down the pools sometime soon for some maintenance, I have 134GB RAM I'd like to put in the server.

I've also added Galaxycoin as my new custom profitability calculator allows for this!

I have Galaxycoin Smiley

Xencoin was based on a broken block explorer - did you find a new one or just using the daemon?
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Launch - CryptogenicBullion (CB)! Chinese version of website! (CCN) on: September 03, 2013, 12:40:15 PM
not too long till subsidy halves again!

Subsidy just halved! Looks good. Mining profitability halved as well so this leaves room for price increase before activation of the large pools that move between currencies finding the most profitable one to mine and dump.

Coinchoose still shows it at 5 CGB per block, driving CGB diff up.

Same for PXC, also 50 PXC instead of 25 PXC per block.

PM'ed sal002 >65 hours ago, said he would fix it but never heard from him again.

Sorry about that - I didn't have it going to 2.5 until 100000 blocks.  Fixed now.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: warning miners,, coinchoose not show right,, killing coins now,, cgb & phx on: September 03, 2013, 12:12:14 PM
Also I would use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expected_value
for the coins with variable coin subsidy, imo its somewhat "stupid" to have some coins jump up and down the charts.

How?  Seems better to just remove Smiley
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: September 03, 2013, 12:09:04 PM
Sorry - thought I addressed this and then went on vacation.  Looks like something in my code was reapplying the old block reward.  Things should  be back to normal now.
PXC is still showing 50 coins/block (should be 25)
CGB is still showing 5 (should be 2.5)
Seriously?  I see 25 and 2.5!!

Anyone else confirm?
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW! Graphical Crypto Charts and Calculator with Ratio and USD in one view! on: September 03, 2013, 03:17:56 AM
NEW:
- Select ratio difference vs BTC or vs LTC coin (see screenshot).
- Twitter account created. Follow me to get the latest updates. (https://twitter.com/CoinSelect)
- New dedicated ".info" domain registered, name will be announced and activated in the next 24 hours.

Note:
Because an error in the coinchoose api, when selecting LTC ratio the "standard" ratio will be used and NOT the adjusted ratio that I prefer.
Hopefully this will be fixed by coinchoose soon, or else I'll get my data from somewhere else...

Should be fixed.  Sorry about missing that on the LTC side.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: warning miners,, coinchoose not show right,, killing coins now,, cgb & phx on: September 03, 2013, 03:16:53 AM
Fixed - next time I won't go on vacation Smiley
