101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How hot is it safe to mine GPUs? on: April 30, 2017, 05:11:45 PM
by default since 290 days, amd default shutdown temp is at or around 94 deg C is i'm not mistaken but that does not mean to push it to the max, back in those days on the 290s even till now i'm still running them till now over 4 years ! 80 DEG C is ok. the lower the better but if you look at default & they stock limits or design is around 75deg C or so. i'd say 75 should be ok, best below 80C for longevity 85 deg C WARNING !
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.3 (Windows/Linux) on: April 30, 2017, 01:09:44 PM
claymore says 290 tri-x 3072 mem & it squits but when i run NH miner, it uses claymore miner too but it does says 4096 mem

kinda weird.

win10 64bit, crimson 16.11.5

ddu, reinstalled same result, reinstalled win 10 n all over again, still same

yeah but I must be going nuts as I can not find the pico and the psu interface.

I have a wicked bad case of allergies and I am loaded with antihistimine  drugs.

what do I owe you for shipping?

don't worry abt it yet mate, GET WELL 1st ! * too MUCH of Nvidia sickness * LoL

i'll check, i can't even recall. ** PCIE Cables too **

I got the nice cables in the box from DHL  You are overseas and used dhl correct?

My spring allergies went nuts this  year .  I did get one thing done today.  I have been cleaning the house up looking for the pico and the interface board.  So I emptied about 5 boxes of junk.

I will keep cleaning house looking for the parts.  Wish me luck.

yeps, small box . . .

a little blurr but i'm sure many can decode them, the 580 8gb does up to 30.2-3 ish but it does jumps up & down a bit

470 4gb is the clear winner for now still imo

OP did you receive the goodies ?

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: April 21, 2017, 01:48:27 PM
T - what is the default state for non-RX, ie. do we put "blank, blank" in core and mem fields?
yes, wrong values will cause that OC script wont do any changes.
So blank it is Smiley

Also about RX570/RX580
I will release very soon fix for those gpus. Right now running this gpu will cause low speed like 22-24 MH/s Smiley
I found a problem and fix this soon.

cm still sees them as 470/480 hahaha

but it works though

lemme know if u need any tests done OP

yes i did it already vice versa but not the whole rom, just used timings for each other.\ BUT of course it has to be the same type of memory

RX570 pulse are available in EU for 180euros.
This is the same as the cheapest RX470 currently available.
Good deal ?

seems to me if you don't want to flash them  and don't like to flash  you would be okay.

but if you flash bios  right now you need a new driver and it will check the signature  and not let the card work well if you flash it.

This new cards will make flashing a p.i.t.a  for 1 week 1 month 6 weeks  who knows.  most likely    a month of not being very flashable or maybe  a little less

does the 180 euro includes VAT ? if it does include, then it's a VERY good deal.

i'd go for rx 470 if you want a better hash per dollar for time being. be it to flash or not to flash still better in terms of ETH, for dual mining the rx 5xx series seems to get a better speed.

sorry i forgot to take note on stock. plugged in, saved a backup of original bios & flash away LoL.

vg, looks like your parcel is at customs. i would speaking to the courier company again. they do suck a little ! grrrr

no issues with bios sig chk at all if you know what you are doing or how to do it.

flashing will not be difficult same as above if you know what you are doing. i have flashed these 2 new cards at least 10 times or more each to get them to reach those speeds including stability & also used 4xx stuffs on a 5xx, no problem they work for "normal" use & may not be suitable for mining though.

on the topic of flashing, maybe OP & others may have some bad experience hence prefers to stick to stock bios which has its own advantages especially when it comes to single bios gpus, if screwed up, might not be able to fix it or to claim for warranty. But for my case it maybe a little different, i do this all the time & have done much research, reading & so on. Even if i do flash it wrongly & bricked the gpu, i do still have a very good chance to claim warranty or if not, i am willing to take the risk & to write off the gpu that i bricked. In this case for these 3 gpus i received, i was pretty fortunate & lucky, they are "sponsored" samples.

everything has risks, so make your own wise decision & do read up as much as possible.

i'd say just wait a little for now as more & more people will have them in their hands pretty soon & more discoveries to come soon.

nope SMOS won't help even on a flashed BIOs, i did send a screenshot to someone, same gpu, same bios, on SMOS i used the possible lowest setting, it works but runs a little slower than win & the power consumption is abt 20W higher than win. i'd say most likely at the time i was testing there was no official driver released by amd for any platform. so probably it could be a driver related problem ? not sure, that probably you guys can let tytanick know abt it so he can upgrade SMOS. But imho, win has more control over fine tuning especially power settings so more power can be saved using win for now. but linux is definitely more stable, it's ok i have my own Mining Control Center (MCC) similar to SRR so offsite or remote reboot is ok.

found it : SMOS vs Win10 Both are using same GPU on RX 570 4 GB

SMOS & off the wall power (not very clear pic on the LEFT but it says avg of 24.8mhs ETC & 747mhs DCR)

Win10 & off the wall power

STOCK RX 580 8GB in LEFT & RIGHT is BIOS modded + some underclocking on the core

as for now, i just installed latest driver & a bit of tweaking both gpus have increased a little more speed & shaved some watts off.

ok, i think this maybe be my last post with spammy pix + long posts & looks like OP is gonna open another new thread (sorry for spamming). prolly fewer posts from me in the future over here. have fun all & happy mining Wink OP you may DEL as needed.

finally back from AMD Ryzen Official Launch, here are some pics *some i could not post them before the launch*

Enjoy !

got some AMD welcome gift goodies

probably stuffs that we already know but it was good info

true enough, here comes the latest drivers from AMD, it is OUT now for the RX 5xx Series folks, before ONLY the Press version are available. *There is BIOS signature check*

here it is, some have seen this from me personally & now i can post it out, courtesy of local distributors, Sapphire sent them (Pulse RX 570 4GB) directly to my home when i was on my way out to Gigabyte to collect the 570 4GB + RX 580 8GB G1 Gaming Series.

the gigabyte ones looks 100% except the sticker which tells you if it's a RX4xx or a RX5xx gpu but for the "Pulse" it's almost the same but it comes with a fancy backplate & NO Led's. Both have a single 8pin PCIE power connector except for Pulse the location is on top now, no more at the butt near to heatsink & hot air !

GPU0 is the Pulse RX570 4GB & GPU1 is the RX580 8GB, both 570 4GB from Sapphire & gigabyte are ELPIDA & the 580 8GB are SAMSUNG, did not run the Gigabyte RX 570 4GB too much just these 2.

The RX 570 4GB is about 20'ish Watts lower than the RX 580 8GB off the wall, managed to shave some watts from both of them & atm the RX 580 8GB is pulling approx 208W off the wall inclusive of mobo, g3250 cpu, 4gb ddr3 ram & ssd.

Happy mining to all & i'm sure more developments will come for the RX 5xx series soon. oh btw, i tested them on SMOS, yes they do run on SMOS but unfortunately SMOS consumes more power than Win10 so atm Win10 is leading for now.

yeps, BIOS are modded.

OP package has landed at NY city Gateway, should reach you soon. Hope you like it. Apologies for the delay again, much to handle over here.

lookin forward for new version !

cm v9 still sees rx 570/580 as 470/480

580 is not as jumpy as 480

happy mining

interesting day . . . but SUPER busy. more to come soon. hopefully.

tbh, not so much fun yet with this series but i'm sure more will come.

Eager to see the numbers Smiley

not so good is all i can tell..

ahhhh mr. AMD just released a new driver ?

me was on da press version of driver, rx 5xx will NOT work on older drivers sadly Sad

installing new driver & let's see. some results :

so far 2 diff brands of rx 570 4gb comes with ELPIDA memory

without a proper driver, gpu will not be detected properly

stock is just like a regular rx 4xx series BUT with cm's v9 the dcr settings needs to be higher hence higher dual mining results

power wise, SMOS is roughly 20 Watts more than win10 & on win10, more hashpower can be squeezed out n saving a little more power.

brand "S" is a little faster but a little more "jumpy" than brand "GB" but brand "GB" is more stable

SMOS off the wall is about 208W & Win10 is around 182W this is based on brand "GB"

ah an very interesting discovery too brand S wont be able to fully use WattTool, no mem control, no offset but for brand GB everything works just like rx 4xx *correction NO mem control*

avg speeds are roughly 25.5-26.5 mhs on ETH, DCR is around between 790& 800 for both

580 8gb to come

btw, both are modded bios, just basic mod. new drivers have bios signature check !

as for now, stick to win10 & deal with the lower hash from the rx 5xx series, i'm sure there will be lots of improvements coming soon.

pix to come soon. back on the bench for the 580 8gb.

those who are curious, they all look the same as the rx 4xx with minor differences.

FINALLY, something decent ! just small changes, not much done yet but i'm sure more to come soon. time for the capt to go bed. been a long day.

off the wall

STOCK

ENJOY & happy mining to all Wink

117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: April 18, 2017, 04:03:58 PM
nope & nope

i am happy with 470 4gb in terms of dollar per hash & it outperforms the 480 8gb

never failed in flashing over 300+ gpus well once but it was my silly mistake & recovered, if it was a failure of gpu due to a bad flash, or purchasing expensive gpus to invest in mining be it in the big or small numbers it's still a risk to be considered.

a stock gpu used for mining does not mean it will not fail or burn due to various reasons, same goes to flashing.

back on the power consumption YES it uses more but for gaming & OC'ing but in terms of mining ? hmmm my guess it won't be as high as what is posted on anandtech's review.

also depends on the efficiency/quality of psu's that's being used too. everything counts & it does adds up.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: April 18, 2017, 03:31:17 PM
nothing so "complex" abt it

end of the day it is lowest cost per hash + best efficiency be it an ori or modded bios. no matter how it is tuned or adjusted, 480 will consume more power than the 470's.

simple, now show/tell me:

470 4gb vs 480 4gb perf vs watts so on and so forth according to list you listed out.

50-100W more is a RUBBISH comment & spreading FUD !

obviously i do have actual results mate as i am also sharing it with citronick live, i will also test SMOS shortly using the RX 5xx series. all i can say atm, the driver is pretty unstable. there are some new features too.

depends how "best" is categorized for a miner in terms of a kiddo making rubbish comments (2-3 mths ROI?) or in terms of a commercial/investment operations.

tbh, best is, least $ spent/invested for the best returns in shortest period of time, well that's for me for a start.

numbers NEVER lie.

OP what you are commenting are more applicable to you personally imo, not for the general public. it is in fact yeps with those ti's but ONLY for ZEC but with an AMD it can mine everything else including ZEC so in long run AMD is more worth to invest & i don't really need to know how much is the creator of the gpu is worth "x" billions but of course the more they are worth the better but that's not the point. AMD itself is worth quite a bit too especially with RYZEN.

i'd rather place my $/bet on ETH + everything else than just ZEC alone.

btw, it's on the move OP, chk your PM.
