What is going to be the difference? better hashrate? less power?

We are all hoping for 5-10% hashrate boost and 5-10% power reduction Wink
Probably will see better results on coins that utlize core, more than mem.

Edit: Just checked some test and 5xx are produced in the same process, so power draw will remain the same at same clocks.
Disappointed.
TDP is 30W higher, also for example RX570 has 1x8pin plus 1x6pin, it does not look for better power consumption...

Seems like the 470s are still the ones to buy for mining.

Every AV can take 30-40% of your CPU so i would not have AV there.

This is simply not true! Antivirus is a must on every device connected to the internet.


No, what you said isn't true - AV is near worthless if you know what you're doing.

It's also useless for other reasons.
1) general invasiveness of A/V may lead to harm of your PC more often than not
2) CPU resources, HD resources and wearing off moving parts wasted
3) It actually does nothing for the most dangerous shit out there, but can provide false sense of security

From my professional experience with PCs (likely longer than the lifetime of some of the AV advocates here) the only time I had a real virus was in 2003, when win2k had an RPC hole massively exploited. Also it was at the same time that I had corporate machines (IBM thinkpads) with AV pre-installed... well and obviously it did nothing to prevent the infection...

EDIT: And I'm not even talking about intentional false positives, 'viruses' exclusively caught by a certain AV sw and the rest.

An A/V only detects KNOWN virii, not the 0-day stuff which is the most dangerous. If having an A/V makes you feel better, then go for it. But don't be fooled into thinking it will stop a malicious attack.

I feel people who have norton or other AV's usually have more problems than me, who has none.  how you use the internet I suppose.  Also some people are stupid with computers.  in related news, does the rx570/580 modded bios work right off the bat with the newest drivers, or does it work with the older 16.11 or whatever drivers ?  I havent ordered any just curious about the signature check

The 500 series looks to be worse for mining since they consumer more power for minimal gains. They may undervolt to the point of being equal H/W, but the price to purchase them is higher (for now) so I'd stick with the 400 series.

EVGA 1300 can run 7 cards, that's not the point. The point was that new Sapphire RX 570 has 8pin AND 6pin connectors.
EVGA 1300 has two double connectors (8[6+2]+6) and four singles (8pin=6+2)
Evga does NOT have 8+8 connectors (second 8pin you suppose to connect to PSU)
therefore, without extra PCIe splitters you would be able to employ only 4 GPUs like Sapphiere 570 8gb that you mention.
This is not a big deal anyway since you could buy splitters at $4 a pop.

cm v9 still sees rx 570/580 as 470/480

580 is not as jumpy as 480

I use the new 9.1 version and it is really really nice, the power usage is almost (+/- 1%) the same and the pasc speed is way better. The only weird thing is that ALL of my cards (470/480 4gb/8gb 5 different brands) are no longer stable on mem/core.

The 8.1 software gave me a 100% core/mem usage non-stop. Now this new miner gives me more pasc, but the mining is unstable. It drops to 75% once every 10 seconds. (see picture)

im using claymore 9.1 for ethereum

but the sistem are using only 2148 mb in use on each card

my vga card is a sapphire rx470 4gb (modded bios)

The mh/s are ok, but why only using 2gb Huh have one type to use 4gb and increase the hashrate(mh/s) ?

I have the same issue as Coyn on 2x RX480, since upgrading from 9.0 to 9.1: Siacoin mining speed doubles, but Ethereum mining speed is very unstable and often drops. The cards do not appear to be throttling, temperatur is normal and there is sufficient power.

Adjusting dcri does not help, even with low numbers Ethereum mining speed is unstable. Currently I use -asm 0 to fix it, but of course that causes much lower Siacoin mining speed.

there is no such thing as 8pin to 8pin(6+2)+8pin(6+2), instead there are 8pin to 8pin(6+2)+6pin, unless they changed their product:

Perhaps, you got a bunch of random cables. In such case, it is fine.
Retail boxed EVGA 1300 have 6 cables, 2 doubles (4 connectors) and 4 singles for a total of 8 PCIe connectors, six of which are 8pin [6+2] and two are 6pin (you can confirm this on the website that i included).

Updated the miner's version and now it seems like I'm getting a heck of more hash speed for siacoin than before. Ethereum hash rate seems same.

Dude I bought mine when Zeus miners first came out. It is likely they have changed what is included now. Mine have four red 8pin to 8pin and I'm holding one in my hand. You can believe it or not as I don't give a rip.
