1041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a Gambler and a Die-Hard Fan of a Club Would you Bet Against your Club on: May 28, 2023, 02:39:32 PM
Everyone is completely different, so it is normal that one soccer fan will never bet against his team, while another can easily do so. Each of us has different priorities - for some it's devotion to their team, and for others it's an opportunity to win money to have a good time with friends. So I can understand both. Personally, I bet against my hometown team when I realized that the team was significantly weaker due to an injury to one of its forwards. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

There's nothing surprising about that. Youtube is one of the most famous platforms, watched anywhere in the world where there is a stable Internet connection. Advertising allows you to monetize the work of bloggers and stylists. In my opinion, advertising is one of the most common marketing practices that works very well and allows you to attract new customers to the product. So someone who doesn't want to pay for content has to watch advertising. And this is quite normal.

I believe that threats do not lead to anything good, and threats from the closest people are likely to lead to further conflicts, as bad situations remain in a person's memory for a long time. Certainly we should help people who have got addicted to games of chance but it is better to do it through experts as it is necessary to understand psychology or it is possible not to help the person but to make only worse.
1044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been threaten to stop gambling on: May 27, 2023, 03:18:32 PM
This actually happens if there is a similar thread I'll lock this thread.

My friend invited me for a round of drinks just last night to confess something, and that is his wife threatened to leave their house and file for legal separation because the wife just discovered that he's spending a lot of time gambling, she thought that he's just playing games but she discovered his logged because the idiot has his password in the browser, so the wife check his withdrawal and voila his losing a lot of money and she also discovered that he won big money in the past but didn't tell her.

I guess that blew her patience for not telling his winning, so he threaten that he should stop gambling or they part ways, my friend choose his wife so he cannot play until he can convince his wife and promise her to tell her if he won big. Cheesy

How about you have you been threatened by your wife, your girlfriend, or your parents, if so tell us your story.

If you have to hide things from your spouse, you probably married the wrong woman or man IMO. If you want to go gamble now and then you shouldn't have to hide it. Losing a large amount once or twice and trying to hide it to avoid the argument is another thing though. You probably need to go talk with a professional about your gambling habit if you cannot control yourself.

I absolutely agree with you. I sincerely don't understand such people. We all want to be in the comfort zone and have complete trust when starting our own family, but for some reason many people prefer to be in a constant state of tension because they need to hide things from their wives. Not only does my wife know that I gamble, she knows the passwords on my laptop and smartphone and even the sid-phrase from my Ledger. She's someone I trust completely and I want her to have everything I have if anything happens to me. If at some point we lose our trust then we have to break up, because without trust people become strangers.

1046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Casinos Should Do Survey From Time To Time To Assess You. on: May 27, 2023, 07:30:46 AM
What I can recommend is assessing the players on their level of satisfaction on the quality of service provided in terms of game variations, transaction fees and transaction time, and other things related to the overall experience of the players in gambling site.
well, I agree with you that the casino doesn't need to bother asking something that the development team or research team can do and what to ask about customer satisfaction using the casino platform. so that the survey seems to carry more weight than doing a survey that does not need to be asked.
if the casino gives surveys to the customers about satisfaction it will definitely give good progress for the casino.

In my opinion, the results of such surveys will indicate that most users will not be completely satisfied with the quality of services provided. After all, people are always missing something. The only advantage that I see in conducting such surveys is to increase customer loyalty by taking care of them. And it will work on a psychological level and it does not matter whether there will actually be some work in this direction.
1047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: May 25, 2023, 08:17:52 PM
Discipline is a very good thing in every facet of life, but in addition, you should have a good plan when you are disciplined in gambling. It entails a foolproof approach that would sustain you for so long. But at times, it's easier said than done as emotion is a spirit and it lives in everyone, if care is not taken, emotion will overcome the discipline and the results would be catastrophic. This is why I would like to include the right budget in this discussion, it might be a daily, weekly or yearly budget.

This is a way to calculatively plan, which could also help our weakness by not letting emotion overcome us. After all, you might have known the maximum daily amount to bet, so it will not affect you when you lose and immediately abstain from betting till the next day.
Setting a budget is a good idea not only when it comes to gambling but on any other aspects of our life, however it is important to remember that a budget can be created not only with money in mind, it is also important to know beforehand how much time we are going to spend gambling each week, this way by respecting such a time allocation we can reduce our chances to zero to face any addiction or to gamble more time than what we wanted during the week or during a particular session.

Like you, I believe that limitation is one of the most important rules, not only in gambling, but also in other areas of our lives. A lot of enjoyable activities without restrictions can lead to problems that are very difficult to overcome later on. So limit yourself when you feel you can go too far and then you'll be fine. At least I practice this in my experience and have no problems with both gambling and other entertainment.

The most important thing to understand before you commit to someone is that a strong relationship is built only on mutual trust. If you are hiding something from your significant other, she is likely to find out about it at some point. If this guy trusted his wife completely and told her about his experiences, she would most likely notice that he was addicted to gambling and have a conversation with him. As a last resort, he could have gone to a professional. But this guy decided to be alone with his problem and was too weak to solve it. I hope he learned his lesson.
1049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: May 25, 2023, 07:48:29 PM
The effects of gambling on player are dependent on how the player manage his gambling activity.  Gambling is not a bad thing if viewed as a form of entertainment and the person is in control of himself.  Though I disagree with @OP that gambling is not a business, I would say in a player's part that gambling shouldn't be viewed as a source of income that can replace our job.  Gambling result is always random and we might experience a green streak today but there is no guarantee that it will continue to be green streak tomorrow.  Those who are caught in the thought of gambling is a good source of income often ends up with nothing in hand.
If a player has a control in their gambling activities. The effect of gambling to them are purely positive like they will release their stress and it can also allows them to earn a profit. Like many are saying, it's easy to earn money in gambling but the hardest part is stopping, which was true. I can prove it as I am one of the pioneers in gambling.

A business can also be an activity but as long as it earns you money and each business has their own down times too. Some can even fail miserably. I guess gambling can be classify as one because sometimes we can also earn money in gambling, more if we have a skill and we play games which skills can matter.

I wouldn't confuse business with gambling because they are two completely different areas. If you are a professional in some business and know how to count, it is quite difficult to go bankrupt. In gambling a lot depends on luck and not on your skills, so no matter how professional you are, if you get hold of a bad card you just lose, no matter how much you want the opposite. Of course something unexpected can happen to a business, like a sudden drop in demand for many products, as was the case during the pandemic, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty low.
1050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another side of Sports betting you may not know about on: May 25, 2023, 07:38:47 PM
Imagine placing a bet on the fastest runner, which looks like a sure win to you and the runner decides to pretend to be weak and give the 1st position to another runner, the truth is you will never know if the runner took a bribe to lose the game intentionally, this is one of the ugly sides of placing bets that gamblers have no control over.

Scripted matches can be planned so neat that no one will ever know about, some people are saying that such things don't happen with popular sports but I doubt it, because this is money we are talking about here, powerful enough for some group of people to make a decision that will change the entire future of a sport match.
Very well said, I think based on experience, I've reached the level where I no longer say or believe that something is impossible, most especially, when it has to do with something like what is being discussed here.

Fixed games, or scripted matches rather, is very possible, as long as money is involved, money changes gives everything except life, and to see how power money is, it can save lives.

It's just like the last game Arsenal played against Brighton, many believed that Arsenal sold that game to Brighton, cus they can't believe how it became possible for Brighton  to beat Arsenal with 3 goals to nothing, typical example of what a scripted match feels like.

I absolutely agree with you. Fixed matches will continue to happen until there is greater oversight of athletes, coaches and clubs and stiffer penalties for those whose guilt is proven.

But in general I don't believe that fixed matches will ever be completely eliminated, that's why I think it's better to bet on several matches than on one single match.
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: May 24, 2023, 07:30:16 PM
It seems to me that politicians are not really as nice as they look on TV. Most of them are corrupt, crooks, and scoundrels. They are so devoted to their goals that they are willing to leave mountains of corpses behind them, just so long as the public doesn't know about it. It seems to me that ordinary people have long been denied access to politics and power in any country is built on cronyism and bribery.

It's hard to judge whether the father is right, since we don't know their backstory. It is quite possible that the son has a gambling addiction and the father has spent a lot of time and effort to help him get rid of his gambling addiction. In such a situation, of course, the father would be right. But there may be another situation where the father has never been able to earn that much money for the family and winning a son came as a serious blow to his ego.
1053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: May 24, 2023, 05:25:38 PM
In my opinion, as long as there are fixed matches in sports, no matter how cool the AI is, it, like any good analyst, will make mistakes for reasons beyond its control. AI can achieve great results in forecasting, but only if the human factor will be excluded from the sport, for example soccer will be played by robots. But it seems to me that it won't be as interesting as a match with real players. But I am interested to see the statistics of AI predictions.

1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Casinos Should Do Survey From Time To Time To Assess You. on: May 23, 2023, 07:35:07 PM
In my opinion, the casino must return the funds to customers only in cases where the funds were written off by mistake of the casino itself. Breaking the connection during the use of a VPN or without it is a problem of a gambler, so the fault lies with the VPN provider or Internet service provider. The casino has nothing to do with it and I am sure that the casino owner's lawyer can easily prove in court that the reason for the loss of funds does not depend on them.

1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: increased Youtube Gambling ads? on: May 23, 2023, 11:38:20 AM
I'm asking out of curiosity, are you guys experiencing a surge of gambling ads on youtube videos lately? this past week I've experienced an increased encounter of gambling ads on videos I watch on youtube. it's not that it bothers me, I am just surprised because I don't remember getting this many gambling ads on youtube videos in the past, but this past week, I usually get a gambling ad from 2-3 out of 5 videos I watch(it's just an estimation because of how often I get the ads). I don't know if it is because I recently watched several videos of streamers gambling or it's just a coincidence, I've watched streamers gambling videos in the past but I have never gotten this many gambling ads.
I have started disliking YouTube because they have choose to increase the rate at which we see ads on there platform. I don't know whether the numbers of there customers had increased so far but I think I have started seeing increase ads whether I am using the platform. This is even more annoying when I use my TV to access the platform. Sometimes it keep showing ads every 2 minutes of using the platform which is very discouraging. How I wish there is available platform like YouTube that we could use and get what we want like the kind of videos we are looking.

I don't understand such judgments. Advertising is one of the most common ways of monetization. You have been provided with a service for viewing a wide variety of content, in my opinion the best. You have the choice to pay a small amount for disabling ads, or watch content for free, but with ads. But you don't like that either. Don't you think it's strange?

In order not to watch ads based on your interests, you can disable it in the advanced settings. Thus, advertising becomes more broadly focused, and therefore less annoying.

Damn Poker Player! You really didn't ignore it. But I think the main point of the story is not about his gambling and losses but the lesson to be learned from the story to not start living like a king when you are not a king.

It's too early to live a high life when you have temporary riches. It's not like you are elon musk who has a government contract and got billions that even his grandchildren's children couldn't spend it all in their entire lives.
This is something which is also very common with new traders, especially those which make some crazy trades by investing in a meme coin no one knew about and then they happen to win and earn a good amount of money, but instead of thinking of themselves as incredibly lucky this was the case, they actually believe those results can be replicated at will and they start to live the high life thinking this will be their new life, only to discover some time later they were completely wrong about it.

I agree with you. Sudden success very often clouds the mind of the lucky man and he thoughtlessly spends money on all sorts of trinkets, forgetting that money should work and multiply. After spending all the money the lucky man becomes an ordinary man again and in memory of his former luck he keeps a smartphone and some other trinket.

To become rich and stop working yourself, you need to be able to limit your entertainment in the formative period and make your money work.
1059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: increased Youtube Gambling ads? on: May 22, 2023, 12:18:30 PM
YouTube remembers the type of videos that you like to watch and from there, they're injecting you all of the related videos together with the ads that's related to it as well.

One easy and free thing to solve this is to use Brave browser, no ads will appear as you browse and watch through it. Or, avail their premium so that you'll avoid to see any ads that might annoy you.

As far as I know a lot of software nowadays collects anonymized information about users and sells it for advertising purposes. And many companies are not even shy about this and put it in the user agreement. If you use Google, you'd be surprised how much information they collect about you. There is a lot of information about this on the Internet. The most interesting thing is that by the impersonal information they collect, you can very easily identify a person.

So it's not quite right to think that you see ads based only on Youtube searches.

In my opinion, the number of reckless offenses has nothing to do with gambling, so I would suggest that in fact the problem lies much deeper - most likely at the level of the psyche of each individual. We've all heard stories of people doing nonsense that is hard to believe, but that doesn't mean that they are all gamblers. It is quite possible that gambling can provoke a person, but if he is in his right mind it is quite difficult to do so. In addition, even people who do not gamble at all commit such reckless acts.
