I wonder how long they run them for testing.  Maybe a week, day, a few hours?
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 25, 2018, 04:24:10 PM
I have bought new miners from both Bitmain and Baikal that showed up with deposits on the fans that don't come from running them for a few hours from testing.  So I know of at least a few units that I had shipped to me that were used extensively before they sold or shipped them to me.

Mine have always been clean.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 25, 2018, 03:43:09 PM
I'm not defending Bitmain, but ASICs in general.  They are here to stay, Every ASIC I bought  (I go back to the gridseed days) has done what is was advertised to do.  If there was no advancement we would all still be driving Model T's.

Deal with it.

Understandable...

It's just what you and I consider BENEFICIAL "advancement" is two different things.  What BITMAIN is attempting to do is not BENEFICIAL to decentralized mining.  My opinion...

Your opinion is correct.
Bitmain is a bad actor of the market for two reasons :
- they mine with their own equipement and probably use 51% attack on the networks on which they can get the majority of the hashpower.
- they sell their equipement only once they know they are no more profitable hence destroying the network by increasing the difficulty even more

When someone buy an ASIC from Bitmain, you buy 10 time the price of a used device that has already been paid hundred folds thanks to premine.
You increase the benefit of Bitmain that can use this fund to destroy even more network by developping new ASIC.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BITMAIN

You don't think that other ASIC manufactures don't "TEST" equipment before sending it out?  You don't think Baikal tests their miners before sending them out.

When you have proof that Bitmain is causing 51% attacks I'll listen.  Here at work we manufacture printers, hey guess what every one is tested before we ship them.

Do you have proof on what the burn in time at Bitmain is, or are you just assuming that they mine for months?

If you don't have proof take your FUD somewhere else, or create a I hate Bitmain because thread.

Testing in progress

No where in the article does it say that these machines are for sale, it's also from 2015.  I have seen on BitMains site in the past they they have has sales of used machine.

In the current bitmain world, if I was a crypto dev, I would create a currency that would hard fork it's algorithm every 6 months.

That way when someone forgets to update their wallet and sends coins they are gone.

I like it!!  Keeps supply down
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: May 25, 2018, 12:38:41 PM
Another doorstopper by shitmain. But ppl just never learn  Grin

Why do you say this?

um its a fact i own asics but asics are gona die a slow death with all these forks

electroenum is forking on may 30 or 31 , after that there will nothing to mine profitablity for these

criptonite asics this = doorstop

remember 2TH of asic hash mines on electroneum, when that has has to leave nothing left will make the x3 more than 1-2 dollars a day

People are writing the same thing 10 times on every page on this thread, "after etn fork bla bla bla doorstoppers"... etn fork is next week, then we mine something else, and same people are will tell us "after the coin xxx forks bla bla bla doorstoppers".

It's the anti-ASIC people spreading FUD.  God help us if we are going to cut into their profits.

Maybe knitting might be a better hobby for him. Clearly cant handle standard computer evolution. Like it hasnt happened to any other electronic based product since electricity was discovered. Guys an idiot. Nothing more to be said.

Sounds like you can't handle building a GPU mining rig.  You admitted your brain cells are lacking by your own insanity.  I see now why an ASIC suits you.  Simply plug and play.

Dude are you saying building a GPU rig is hard? If you can put legos together you can put together a GPU rig. You're not in an elite club because you can build a computer are you for real...

I have made an open air case out of legos!!!

300 watts lol. Its almost too good to be true.

3 of those is less than a S9

Can't wait to fire these up
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 24, 2018, 03:27:52 PM
He sure got me lol. Whatever shall I do. He doesnt believe i can build a GPU rig! Might as well start closing up my company. What a pathetic troll. You are probably the worst troll on this forum. I  really hope you arnt 50 like your profile suggests. You should have better things to do at that age. Such a sad life.

Hell I'm only a network engineer, and right now all I have is an old GPU rig running, (but I have 3 Z9's on order).

You know, he's right.  My 1st home computer was an Apple ][, and so the constant upgrade process began.  So went the same with Intel products.

You can't lock out progress just because you don't want your GPUs to become outdated.  Sure, coins can change algos, and then what happens, some one will come up with a miner for it.

The fact NONE of these ASIC companies have to share their developments with anyone, we are pretty lucky to be able to get them as well. Baikal is way more of a threat to the industry then Bitmain, yet no mention of them lol. Shows how stupid this Bitmain bias really is. Nothing but childish rantings. No one is forcing any of these companies to share their findings. They could have just fucked EVERYTHING over and not even bothered to tell anyone.

I have brought up Baikal and the new FPGA companies as well.  The GPUs backers don't care because they are not the evil empire of BitMain...
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 24, 2018, 01:25:29 PM
They keep building because people keep buying.  My opinion (and they are like butt holes, we all have one) is that Bitmain is going to go after the ASIC resistant markets.  They have proved they can make miners.  Take a profitable also, build a miner, piss off all the GPU people, profit.  Rinse and repeat.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 24, 2018, 01:53:09 AM
Hey Searing, have you tried the litecoin lottery at TBDice?  Scoring a block would improve your ROI
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 23, 2018, 11:56:18 PM
With FPGAs starting to come out.  No algo will be safe.  Faster, less power than GPUs.  Once the price starts coming down all the GPU backers will be getting their panties in a bunch about them.

Yes, the constant switching of POW algo isn't going to work against FPGA's. Only trade off is that they are not as efficient as an ASIC. However, technology keeps marching forward.

Think back to ASICs 3 years ago.  Hell, think back a year ago.  Moves fast when money is involved!!

Baikal already has machines for Cryptonight/Cryptonight-lite, Blake256R14/Blake256R8/Blake2B/Lbry/Pascal, X11/Quark/Quibt/Myriad-Groestl/Nist5/Skein/X11Gost.  They are also promising that more algos will be added later.  You don't think they can produce a machine that can outdo your GPUs.  Give it time, there will be no where to run and hide.

If the PoW algorithm is changed every 3-6 months, it cannot keep up with.

That's good fork every few months.  What could go wrong.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 23, 2018, 03:19:34 PM
That's why the price of zcash couldn't increase much because of releasing z9 asic miner for equihash.

Why would we sell GPU? We can be still mined with other algo's and altcoins just find what coin will be worth it in the future to make a good profit.

Until ASICs and FPGAs come out for those.  Baikal is already releasing new machines with more algos (even through they are not really ASICs)  Another ASIC resistant algo becomes very profitable, you will soon see ASICs sniffing around.

We need to go back to CPU mining... ever since those GPU's came all we have gotten is centralization and put the power in the hands of the rich...  Roll Eyes

Wouldn't the rich just buy a bunch of cpu farms if thats the case?

Damn rich people, always spoiling everything...  I guess that's why we can't have nice things
