Hate to say it, but my opinion is formed because the main players dont even see it as revolutionary right now. They want other things. Its just not as a big as people want it to be. Maybe in a few years. This is why Bitmain dominates. There just isnt enough interest from other companies. Its funny how others perceive me as this ASIC pushing shill when all im speaking is the truth. Amazing isnt it Cheesy. I just dont understand the thought that GPU will take over. There still only 2 companies designing architecture for video cards where ASIC chips are being developed by more companies every day. All of the other GPU manufacturers outside of AMD and Nvidia are sitting on their hands waiting to buy the next schematic. How can this possibly sustain mining. Its just been Polaris and Pascal for years. Its a clear sign that the industry is shifting. One could say the ASIC designers like Texas Instruments are the true pioneers of the industry creating machines designed for the purpose. There is literally no one else aside from the few ASIC pioneers that are pushing the mining side of design forward. These chips are marvels of engineering.

So, more or less, you are "implying," surrender to Sir BITMAIN {Giving them full control of mining and trading speculation as a result} because they supposedly "care about crypto" and it's going somewhere?  Since, AMD and NVIDIA may not publicly support crypto in your eyes?  That's FAR from the truth!  I prefer de-centralized mining not controlled by one manufacturer.

Was on break.  Going back downstairs to the mining room remodel.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Cant see it because its ignored  Roll Eyes Even though this guy said I was an idiot and ignored me LOL.  I thought you ignored me buddy. I dont think hes capable of having a civil conversation anymore. You really need help man. If you were a respected community member here, you clearly dont act like it now. Pity. Enjoy ranting to no one. IT must suck to have people block and ban you all the time when you try and express yourself. Id like to stay and chat but you're a total dick DM. I unignored you when you calmed down and finally began to communicate.  Is there a problem?  Have I not been civil?  What's the problem now?  We've been sitting here having some communication gains; I make one comment [You may or may not be able to refute] and this is how you respond back? "I thought you ignored me?"  Instead of answering a simple question?

Quote:  "So, more or less, you are "implying," surrender to Sir BITMAIN {Giving them full control of mining and trading speculation as a result} because they supposedly "care about crypto" and it's going somewhere?  Since, AMD and NVIDIA may not publicly support crypto in your eyes?  That's FAR from the truth!  I prefer de-centralized mining not controlled by one manufacturer."

Have you now decided I've made a valid point and you cannot refute it so now back to "personal" stuff?  I hope I don't have to click ignore AGAIN and come back in a while and "un-ignore" to see if you have calmed down.

Yup, he edits his post [Which I quoted] and resorts to name calling cause he cannot refute my last comment; doesn't even want to attempt to answer it.  ROFL... Back to ignore....  Geeeeeeez

Actually, Zcash Forum was the first sight EVER to ban me.   EVER...  And "unjustly" I might add.  My Wife and I both were banned and she did absolutely nothing wrong.  They assumed her account was me when in fact it wasn't.  She was pissed what "root" (moderator) did to me and wanted to create an account to talk to him about POS in order to trap him in his own folly.  However, he stopped answering her questions cause he may have seen where it was leading; which was to prove his folly.  We were both banned simply because we were laying down many truth bombs and exposing the conflict of interest on Zooko's part.

Also, if you want to imply you are "Nobody," go right ahead.

I suggest that everybody interested in Asic mining on equihash and especially Zcash should join the Zcash forum:
The discussion there is way more of interest as lately here:

https://forum.z.cash/t/let-s-talk-about-asic-mining/27353/2501

I mean the Z9's will ship in latest 30 days, so i think it isn't a bad idea to get familar there with the forum and community :-)

I'm curious, is this your way of trying to keep this discussion about Zooko's folly "CONTAINED?" You and I both know you are Pro-ASIC after our discussion on Zcash Forum.

It's time to take this to the masses of GPU miners currently mining ZEC.  It's TIME to let them know the TRUTH that Zcash Company does NOT have their best interest at heart.

This WILL get heard on here, reddit, GitHub, Steemit, Twitter, YouTube, etc... in the weeks and months to come.  COUNT ON IT...

EDIT:  I believe I have found an Equihash coin that actually has our best interest at heart.  I'm currently doing research on it to provide an "unbiased conclusion."  I like what I'm seeing thus far.  I'll share my findings after I've completed my mining room remodel and have had more time for research.  I don't want to half-ass my research and make it a "worth while" read.

One thing's for certain:  We (GPU Miners) are beginning to SEE who has our (GPU Miners) back and who does not, aren't we?
Another thing that's certain:  Time to leave ZEC for a coin who actually has your back, GPU Miners.  SHOW THEM how much "community" and "consensus" MATTERS.

Feel free to go here [ https://forum.z.cash/t/let-s-talk-about-asic-mining/27353/2636 ] to let them know how you feel.  I did...  But be careful HOW you express yourself.  They're getting quite strict and quick to ban people and delete posts they don't agree with.  TRY to keep it clean there so your posts can remain to wake up others in the GPU community.

Cheers and happy GPU Mining.

This guy is off his rocker LOL.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Biggest crybaby Ive seen on this forum.

How's about you and lil' troll Sprite get a room together and STFU?  Use the ignore option if you don't want to read the posts of others.

Why dont you learn to read and stfu. I did. Its cute how edgy you are trying to be though. Still have to see "this user is ignored" 5k times because he was spamming non stop. Dude is clearly off his rocker. Glad you came to defend non sense like that. Take your own advise. If you dont want to read my posts. Ignore me. Dont see the hypocrisy in what you are saying? Glorious. Keep on fighting the good fight by showing up 20 minutes late with irrelevant posts.

ASICs are still necessary because they lead to more advancement in stronger asic-resistant coin. The problem...[Below]

ASICs could work if there is more competition in the market and no monopoly of single company. Another problem is there retail availabilty and pre mining which could be solved if competition increases. Intel only bought good processors for cheap when AMD bought them in the market first. Competition solves many problem and it is necessary for healthy working of capitalism.

As I've mentioned in previous posts:  "IF" ASIC's could meet those [And other requirements I've mentioned], I would be FINE with them."  At this current time... It's a NO for me.  Those criteria are not currently met and may never be.  Time will tell.

Some see them as a necessary evil.  "Necessary," because of "so-called" security of the network.  "Evil," because of not meeting the requirements I have mentioned in several posts.

This falls pretty much into the same category as FREEDOM.  In what way?  If one decides they will give up some freedom for the sake of some security, they deserve and will get NEITHER!!! - Similar to Benjamin Franklin's quote: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Why are we arguing about ASICs vs. GPUs in this thread, it's about the Z9, I have 3 on order and can't wait for them to come in so I can fire them up!!

Cause we're all about to witness several things in due time and it will be documented in here for all to see.

This way, we might can LEARN from it.

By the way, a lot of this discussion is about the Z9 (ASIC's) and it's affects on coins "declaring" ASIC-Resistance.  We will see how the "Launch" of the "Bitmain Z9 Equihash Miner" will be affected by others who will own it; how all Equihash coins we be affected by it [Forked and Not Forked]; How other PoW Alt Coins will be affected; Z9 and it's affects on GPU's; etc...

This will be interesting indeed...

It's already happening with the Cryptonight algo, and in July it happens with ETHASH.  Baikal has made inroads into other algos (but not really an ASIC).  I think soon nothing will be ASIC resistant.  Like I said Bitmain has proved now that they can build a miner for ASIC resistant algos.

Sure, you have a right to your opinion just as everyone else does.  I have my "opinions" on what you just said as well.  It will simply be interesting to see how this plays out.

This was simply the first move of hardware R&D.  Now it's developers move to see if they can demonstrate their commitment to ASIC Resistance in the evolution of things.  In my opinion, most  developers have been lazy on their Declaration of ASIC Resistance.  There should have already been a team/division within each Equihash coin devoted specifically to their declaration of ASIC Resistance [If any].  Hind sight...

Yes sir.

ASIC RESISTANCE, is going to be a MAJOR topic within this thread as the weeks and months progress.  I'm sure it will be discussed a LOT; as it will be a "potential" threat to this ASIC.
