461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 26, 2014, 11:57:26 AM
My theme would be slide after slide: Bitcoin problem, NXT solution: currency distribution, blockchain bloat, PoW arms race, 51% attack, block confirmation speed (10 min vs 1 minute), transactions per second (1 currently / 7 max for BTC, 10,000 ultimate goal for NXT), etc. etc. etc.

Excellent strategy rickyjames!

All you need to emphasize are instant transactions, earning coins from forging, anonymous messaging, and soon an anonymous marketplace - why on earth would anyone want to stick with Bitcoin?!  Smiley
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 25, 2014, 02:50:58 PM
I think the message of Nxt needs to be focused on one thing and that is Transparent Forging and how that will enable Nxt to handle 1000+ TPS.

Nothing else matters (all the other "2nd gen" crypto-currencies can do most of the other stuff like "colored coins").

Bitcoin can only currently handle 7 TPS and even with lifting limits like the 1MB block size it would still have troubles handling much more than 70 TPS.

If Nxt provides a payment system that can "truly compete" with Visa, etc. then that will be the *only thing that matters* (all the rest is just "icing on the cake").

The transparent forging should definitely be promoted (especially the interest generating part). I personally feel that the anonymous marketplace should also be heavily promoted when it's ready as that feature alone is enough to take NXT to Bitcoin levels of adoption (if not more).
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 25, 2014, 02:45:09 AM
Nobody reply to me.
When the price of nxt drops 0,00005 btc?
Probably never....buy now.

eh i would put it at a 50/50 shot that you might buy in at that level in the near future. if its going to happen than it will happen within the next month im sure.

In 2-3 days. If it won't then never.

Thanks for replies and opinions !

Btw I also want to buy more coins but waiting for at least 0.00008.

I'm not waiting myself... I've been dumping positions all week and moving almost everything into Nxt. I have no doubt Nxt is going to be huge (so huge that it is more important to get in as soon as you are able rather than waiting and hoping for a price drop).

Nxt is the modern day Internet equivalent of Bill Gates or Steve Jobs' garage (and we're all invited)!

Exciting times... glad to be a part of it!  Smiley

Bingo. A writer from Bloomberg wants to talk about Nxt (along with Peercoin). Constant emails, they eventually pay off.

Great work PeercoinEnthusiast!

Though I'm mainly in Nxt and DVC coin now, I am still holding on to the Peercoins I bought at around 30cents  Smiley

Looking forward to hearing how the Nxt promotions go!

Try Zorin OS.

im pretty much stuck with ubuntu.  only one ive found that supports drivers for my qualcom at9565 wifi device. even the latest debian couldnt do it.  oh sure i could try to load a backport kernel but those come with godknows what other dependencies that Id have to resolve via another PC and copying files over from a usb stick

fuc*it

Unity sucks ass.  Try xubuntu -- An official version of Ubuntu Linux that uses the XFCE desktop environment.

There's also Lubuntu, but after trying them all I find using the net install of Ubuntu for the leanest installation possible + Openbox is the leanest, fastest and best all around - you just have to add what you need to it manually.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: January 22, 2014, 07:04:14 PM
Is there anyone who is in contact with the CoinMkt folks?

See the Quark description on their page:

https://coinmkt.com/#/all_cryptocurrencies

It's good, but it would be better if a sentence could be added about Quark's awesome transaction speeds!

We should do an act where we come to an empty booth with just the raspi, plug it in, shrug, and leave for drinks.

I am more thinking about the video, where I show Iceland with supercomputers and then I switch to me in our farm in countryside only with my raspberi

Outside on a lounge chair sipping a sweet tea. Wifi and solar, no connections needed Smiley

+1! That would make a great ad. Earn money forging NXT with no monthly costs!!
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 21, 2014, 11:21:55 PM
Wait until we take over the SR market, which will be soon.

+1! Once the marketplace is added Nxt will spawn a hundred SRs. The original SR was like the Napster of underground marketplaces - Nxt will be the Bittorent.

Yay! Look at the current price per devcoin! https://vircurex.com/welcome/index?alt=dvc&base=btc&locale=en

Indeed, nice jump. Last price 103 satoshis. Perhaps a DOGE-style shot to the moon is in order.  Smiley

This could also be due to DVC / BTC now trading on Cryptsy too! My petition was not in vain Wink

+1! Nice job psybits! I had no doubt that the LTC/DVC only pair on Cryptsy was holding it back.

Now we've got the BTC pair on Cryptsy, the new web site, a new web installer coming up... can't wait to see what happens when you launch the new press release!

It's been my feeling for a long time now that there is going to be a flood of money coming into cryptocurrencies and a full blown stampede of people pouring into a number of good ones. When I see the trading volumes for DOGE I start to think that the stampede is starting. Devcoin is definitely in the top tier of cryptocurrencies and has such a great philosophy behind it that I am constantly recommending it to all my friends and family  Smiley

Hello, are all key feature of coinzen finished? I am eager to see that we have officially moved to the new forum Smiley

The security features are finished. I'll be rolling out the vote system & Thread links this week/weekend. Novacadian was working on the emails. Once those are done the forum is finished. You could probably start to transition now if you wanted.

Hi tenthirtyone, I will be adding the link to the new forums on devcoin.org today.

Can you please update the Devcoin logo on the forums to use the same one that's on devcoin.org for consistency's sake? Thanks!

Man, that FrictionlessCoin guy and his NEX bullshit literally makes me sick to my stomach. Now he's stealing Levelcoin's ideas and trying to get him to help with NEX - see my response here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422309.msg4642193#msg4642193

The Nxt community should not offer this ahole a single bit of help. He is actively trying to discredit Nxt, so I feel obliged to do whatever I can to discredit this parasite in return. I hope other Nxt stakeholders will join me!
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Levelcoin - Proof of Stake / Proof of Burn Hybrid - Inflation Immune on: January 21, 2014, 01:37:57 PM
We discovered your idea and really like it.

Therefore we are incorporating this idea with our new coin NEX.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422052

The coin is in active development,  if you would like to contribute your expertise,  please let us know.

How are you planning to incorporate it?

NEX is an entirely new implementation built from the ground up.  Huh

The first part of the protocol (we call it NIC, NEX Invest Coin) works like a Proof of Stake coin.

The second part of the protocol (we call it NEC, NEX Enterprise Coin) is straight forward since it is just an atomic translation of NIC to NEC.  It is also a proof of stake on the NEC side.

Damn OP, frictionless just took your idea, renamed it and then called it his own... I spot a trend going on here. But hey, maybe he'll provide free alpha/beta testing for you Grin

I posted attribution to this thread.

It indeed is a good idea.  So that is why we are adopting it for the NEX coin.

You are adopting it for the NEX coin because you are a parasite with absolutely 0 coding abilities. You simply scour these forums for people who are truly innovative (like the person starting this project), and then copy their ideas and/or code because you are incapable of creating anything by yourself.

First you demanded that Come-From-Beyond hand over the Nxt code, and now you are trying to squeeze help and/or code out of Levelcoin. You literally make me sick to my stomach.
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT - Imagine Fairness! on: January 20, 2014, 04:57:27 PM
A few questions:

First: I still haven't got an answer to my serious question how you are going to avoid a tech based bias in your distribution.
It seems that people that are less able to do your beta testing or development (for all that I applaud merit based distribution) will almost automatically have a better chance at a bigger stake. Would you please explain if and how you plan to avoid this?

Second, as a Nxt holder (a small one) I seem to be in a better position to acquire NEX. Again, thanks for the advantage, but how does that promote a fairer distribution? I actually earned all my Nxt with bounties, so now I am basically NEX easier because I own Nxt?

Thanks for the answers.

There are a lot of ways to contribute that goes beyond knowing technology.

Creating graphics,  writing articles,  selling on eBay, ..  it is wide open!

We don't want want Nxt holders to feel disenfranchised with NEX development so we are offering the opportunity to translate their holdings.   You will have to exchange your Nxt into NEX.   We priced it extremely low so that you have every chance to gain.

We are also giving away coins to VisaCoin holders who were unfairly scammed.  We don't have to do it,  but this would only be fair.

Thanks for the answers. Smiley

What is your view on NEX and NXT existing side by side?
I ask this, because the NXT community is committed to NXT, too, and a smart investor doesn't put all his money on one card.
I also ask this because two coins continually fighting each other is basically bad business.

As a last one, because it's a difficult one: I personally dislike the word "fair" in business. I make money because I have skills that others do not have. I also make money because I am willing to put in the effort. There is a real issue also for the NEX community after the IPO closes how it will address the people who will enter after IPO and *will* have to pay more if it is a success.

You can either invest in a proprietary rigged coin or you can invest on one that is open and free.

We believe in an open and free process will trump out a proprietary process.

Sounds great - you've got everything planned! You've created a forum thread, generated interest... nothing much left to do now but actually code something better (or more likely, wait until someone else does it for you).
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT - Imagine Fairness! on: January 20, 2014, 03:57:59 PM
Seeking Additional Java Developers

We have successfully decompiled the Nxt source and are now in the process of performing a massive refactoring and cleanup of the code base.

Short term goals.

Remove the primitive addressing scheme and use a scheme that looks like Bitcoin.  Bitcoin addresses are more readable, have a checksum and have many tools to generate them.  Nxt addresses that are all numerical are something that came out of the 1950's.

Secure Wallet.  Nxt wallet is fundamentally insecure.  Exposing a wallet to the public internet for everyone to hack is just idiotic.   No wonder so many Nxt users have lost money!

Nxt does not use an internal database like every other alt coin.  This is idiotic because NXT nodes easily fail and run out of memory.  Furthermore, if you accidentally turn off your node... your wallet can get corrupted!

NEX strives not only to be a fairer distributed Nxt variant,  but a technologically super version.

Join the enterprise... participate with your coding skills!!!

We will not ship SHIT like the Nxt folks.  We will ship product that will secure our users coins!
If Nxt is so bad... why are you cloning it?

A good question, with a very simple answer - greed. He couldn't care less about the code,  he just wants some sort of copy out there so he can take money out of Nxt's marketshare and put it into his own pocket. That's all there is to it - he is a parasite, nothing more.

I am def. interested!

Release the code, yes, actively help FC, no.

+1! I can't believe there are actually people supporting this NEX shit. Did people miss the post where he came on here DEMANDING that CFB "stop lying" and release the source code?! Oh yeah, and then he even put down the NXT coding to boot!

In my opinion, garbage like FairQuark and NEX is a sign of these troubling, parasitic times we find ourselves living in - people have such a strong sense of entitlement nowadays that they feel they are "owed" something (for example, coming on a forum and having the balls to demand that source code be released so you can copy it and profit from someone else's hard work).

Reminds me of the title of a book that was written especially for "Gen Y":

Not Everybody Gets a Trophy

Quark, NXT - why, I guess it's not fair because I missed the boat. Oh, I know, I will just make a copy that starts from scratch so I can profit from it this time - that will make it more fair. Where's MY trophy?

Let's focus on making NXT the Bitcoin Killer, as opposed to helping knockoffs leech off of the hard work of others. The NEX guy has already snubbed NXT's code - let him go right ahead and show off his skills and actually PRODUCE something better!
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FairQuark | FRQ | CPU Mining | 4% Fair Pre-mine | Get in NOW! | on: January 18, 2014, 01:22:06 PM
This coin is nothing short of a disgrace.

So we've gone through all the monetary termed coins, then we went through memes, animals and celebrity termed coins, I guess there is nothing left to do now but copy and paste established coins and add "fair" in front of them, stating that they are fair because a new group of people have premined them. Really? This is how far the altcoin forum has sunk?

I'm looking forward to FairBTC, FairLTC and FairPPC - too many people own BTC, LTC and PPC - we need to make it more fair by starting all over again so a different bunch of people can hoard them.

Pathetic.

LOL. Every fork starts for get some BTC at end, even Litecoin. Somebody lucky, somebody unlucky with different forks. And you can't say who can has profit and who can't. This is a pyramid. Nothing more.

LOL, calling this a fork is an insult to all forked coins. To be a fork, the dev must have at least spent 30 seconds to change a parameter or two - these jokers couldn't even be bothered to do that.

Copying someone else's hard work and changing the name does not constitute a fork - it constitutes a scam, which is what Fairquark is.
