501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: January 11, 2014, 10:16:57 PM
Hello, can you please update the Devcoin icon from

http://coinmarketcap.com/img/Devcoin.png

to this one:

http://devcoin.org/img/Devcoin.png

The blue logo is old - the new one is green, as seen on devcoin.org and cryptmarketcap.com.

Thanks a lot!

Cryptsy requested 120M pre0mine from EAC

if this is false lets wait
if this is true then lets trade on coinex folks

Don't worry, it's just more FUD.

These forums really should be renamed to fudtalk.org.

I did not receive a refund yet though I was one of the earlier investors
504  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcurex.com - official thread on: January 08, 2014, 04:24:55 PM
Ive got a euro card and I pay/withdraw in euro, so no charges for me. Well I believe there is a 2.5 euro fee for every cash withdrawal.

Unfortunately I can't withdraw in euro so I'm getting raped by bank exchange fees. Oh well, it is still better than nothing - it's very convenient to sell a fraction of a btc on bitcurex and then pull out grocery money with the bitcurex card  Smiley
505  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcurex.com - official thread on: January 08, 2014, 01:06:19 PM
I again opened a ticket with bitcurex and expect to get it credited at some point, but who knows when. Ill update when it happens - or if it doesnt.

Got a response to my ticket today with a promise to credit the amount. Yes, it was in broken english, and yes it would have been better if they had done it automatically, but I still got a satisfactory response within 2 working days, which in bitcoin world is actually spectacularly good.  Maybe they did increase support staff after all.

That's great news Puppet, glad to hear it!

I was wondering if you happened to keep track of your exchange rates when you used the card to withdraw from a local atm? I did some calculations and it seems that I lost about 20% in fees and exchange charges. I'm not sure if this is standard or it's the particular atm I used or what.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: v2 of redesigned devcoin.org now live! on: January 08, 2014, 01:10:02 AM
Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce that v2 of the redesigned devcoin.org is now live:

http://devcoin.org

What's new in V2

  • DVC ticker added to homepage (thanks tenthirtyone)
  • Community link added to top nav (points to this thread for now, I'll change it to point to the new DVC forum when ready)
  • FAQ link added to top nav
  • Made the site ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) compliant
  • Slowed the slider down a bit (anytime the cursor is placed on the slider it will pause as well)
  • Added Javascript to automatically resize slide height based on content (only seen by users with a very small viewport or users who have greatly increased the font size)
  • Various minor text edits and link additions as requested by the community (Note: once the link list on the Spend DVC page becomes too long, I'll categorize the links into tabbed format)
  • Fixed IE8 layout issue
  • Created FAQ page - this was a lot of work as I had to scour through a ton of text from a bunch of different sources and rewrite all of the content into question and answer format... I'd be happy to add more FAQs, I just ask that they be submitted in traditional FAQ format, meaning a single question with a concise and terse answer Smiley

Mobile Enhancements:

  • Added detection for very small viewports (i.e. smartphones). If the site is viewed with a smartphone the images in the slider and on the download page are not displayed due to the lack of space (the images do not contain content, they are merely decorative). I wrote some custom CSS for small viewport devices so the site looks much better on smartphones now.
  • Added swipe detection to slider (Note: the slider does not support swiping by default - I implemented an add-on to make it work though I am unable to test it as I am using an emulator without a touchscreen. Someone please check it with an iPhone and an Android smartphone.)

Questions for the community:

1) http://dvc4giftcards.us/ - as I posted previously, this site is being flagged as malicious by the popular WOT (Web of Trust) plugin:

https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/dvc4giftcards.us?utm_source=addon&utm_content=warn-viewsc

Therefore, I don't think this link should be added until this is cleared up as it could undermine Devcoin's credibility. Does anyone know the owner of this site?

2) Is this wallet:

http://media.andarazoroflove.org/Devcoin-Installer.exe

ready to go or is it still being finalized? Should the link overwrite the current link for "Devcoin Setup Exe Windows32"?

3) Social media links - I can add them in a jiffy but I need to know which Facebook/Twitter/YouTube pages to point to (sounds like there aren't any "official" Devcoin social media pages, just what people are putting up on their own)

That's all for now, let me know what you think Smiley

I just went to Devcoin.org on my iphone 4 and tested the swipe feature. The feature does work fine but runs a little on the slow side. The rest of the site looks like a regular web version of a website that people are used to viewing.

Would it be possible for a link to be on the bottom of the web version of the site that allowed people to return to the main site? It might be helpful for those who have larger cell phones.

Bittzy78

Thanks Bittzy78, I'm glad to hear the swipe function is working.

Well, the mobile version IS the main version of the site - the only difference is that the images from the slider and download page have been removed. None of the images contain any content anyway, they are just there for decorative effect. So no content is lost from the mobile view at all.

It is currently set to only hide images from the smallest viewports (<479px) so iPads and tablets should see the graphics just fine.

..

Thanks for your great work, you get the final payment of another 36 shares.

Thanks Unthinkingbit, I really enjoyed working on it. I would definitely like to stay around as the Web Admin for devcoin.org, making updates as needed. Also, maybe there are some entirely new Devcoin-related web site projects that I could help with? I read about the forum requirements that tenthirtyone is working on but I'm not really a backend coder - if there is any front end design work or writing that needs to be done for the forum I'd be happy to help.

Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce that v2 of the redesigned devcoin.org is now live:

http://devcoin.org

I like how easy it is to navigate and use hypersire. Thanks for all your hard work.

I do have a question/suggestion, could http://www.kissmyweb.com be added to the list of businesses accepting Devcoins or is there an approval process I need to undertake? and could there be something on the http://devcoin.org/spend-devcoin.html page about how businesses can support Devcoin?

Hi Melodiem, I added kissmyweb yesterday - it's on the Spend Devcoin page already. If you don't see it try clearing your browser's cache as you might still be looking at the old copy.

As for businesses supporting DVC, this is also found on the Spend Devcoins page:

"You can incorporate the Devcoin checkout into your own website, which will allow you to accept Devcoin, Bitcoin and over 20 other cryptocurrencies. See coinpayments.net for more information."

2) Is this wallet:

That wallet is good and has been approved as the new "Official Wallet." It has the most up to date binaries in it and can replace your current link.

Done, it replaced the Devcoin Setup Exe Windows32 link. The old Devcoin GUI Windows32 and Devcoind Windows32 links are still there.
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: January 07, 2014, 09:02:14 PM
I love the layout of the new site. The 'General' tab in the FAQ is not very elaborate though. Give me a week to post a suggestion for a slightly more elaborate description of Devcoin.

That would be great Wekkel! When I offered to rebuild the site I had just learned about Devcoin and really liked what I saw. I managed to piece together all of the content on the new site from various sources, but I am definitely not a Devcoin expert so there was only so much expounding I could do  Smiley

As soon as your content is ready just post it here and I'll make sure it gets up on devcoin.org asap!

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce that v2 of the redesigned devcoin.org is now live:

Looks great to me hypersire. On the FAQ, you should have said something. It was still sitting there waiting for feedback from interested parties and yourself as didn't appreciate it was an addition for now. Thanks for the work though.

Only thing I'd still change is to add '...earned by developing, writing or...' under step 2 so it's blatantly obvious on front page, although guess there may be a character limit to fitting it in.

On concise, that's just about same questions being asked over and over so that's what we were trying to address. It's not possible to answer every question tersely. e.g. why is devtome english only, why no music/art when devcoin info says so, why is generation is constant, real newbie issues with clients. You may be right though about portal not being best place for it, perhaps the forum because there still needs to be somewhere people can get answers without waiting for a reply.

Thanks Weisoq, no worries about the FAQs - I knew I would have to compile and rewrite everything into FAQ format. I just ask that going forward, if anyone wants new FAQs added, they just send it as close to traditional FAQ format as they can. Devtome is obviously a very text-heavy site - what works well there doesn't work so well on a "landing site" like devcoin.org.

I went ahead and made your requested edit (added "developing" under step 2).

What types of commerce sites could we target, first, for payment acceptance?

books, toys, everyday items, etc.?

Non-profit donation acceptance, maybe :-)

Get greenpeace to accept earthcoins as donation, work on multiple ways for the average joe to gain some eac's, pay for facebook and twitter reply's.
Run some adwords / reddit / FB ads targeting people with real interest in helping nature.

2 main points:
1. get green industries and non-profits to consider this coin
2. improve accessibility and obtainability of the coin.

... and the coin is settled :-)

Also start blogging about green stuff, not just tech stuff :-)

just my 2 satoshi's :-)

Fantastic ideas grimrog! Green organizations are a perfect fit for "Earthcoin". I think an EAC giveaway to green non-profits would generate a ton of publicity for Earthcoin.

how is a pic of two guys jumping on a train chauvinistic? that makes no sense.

its clear that they are trying to say "jump on the EarthCoin train"

it is without a doubt a picture from developing countries and my first thought was "earthcoin will save you"... 1. they are coloured, 2. the train is already driving... u dont see that in the western world...

eac will help the poor colored ppl = chauvinistic

what if someone connects such thoughts with eac? Nice marketing...

Umm, I'm afraid this is a perfect example of what is called "overanalyzing something".
