601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Robbed more than 100,000 NXT on: September 22, 2014, 08:28:12 PM
Why do you need my account and password? You do not believe that someone stole my NXT? Password I do not want to disclose a number of reasons, which do not consider it necessary to describe here.

1) Your pass phrase would confirm your claim is legitimate. And yes, why would anyone believe your claim in this nest of vipers that this forum is Smiley
2) Your pass phrase would shed light on whether your account was hacked due to the weak pass phrase, which it most likely was because Google search reveals the part of the pass phrase you provided is in Google's database.
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Robbed more than 100,000 NXT on: September 22, 2014, 08:14:50 PM
that's part of my password:

Uhf;lfybyj,zpfy

more I see no reason to write my password

Does this mean anything in another language/keyboard layout? Google says it does.
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Robbed more than 100,000 NXT on: September 22, 2014, 08:04:34 PM
This guy did, first known victim of this thief:
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/help!-my-nxt-account-stolen-account-for-nxt-wczn-dgql-xm69-62l3n/msg92255/#msg92255
His pass was just a random phrase from Genesis, complete with full stop.

Yes, and it was a simple dictionary attack with the Bible quotes as source. I wonder why people don't use the pass phrase provided the NXT client, it's random enough and can't be cracked in a billion years.
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Robbed more than 100,000 NXT on: September 22, 2014, 07:56:20 PM
It's curious that pass phrases from hacked accounts are almost never posted, as if the victims know it's their fault they chose a weak password. Posting a pass phrase also helps confirm that the the claim is legitimate, anyone can use the pass phrase to log in to the hacked account to check whether the pass phrase really matches the account.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Robbed more than 100,000 NXT on: September 22, 2014, 07:19:08 PM
What was the pass phrase you used? You don't need it any more.
606  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-09-18] Bitcoin Core Developer Jeff Garzik Believes NXT is a “Scamcoin” on: September 22, 2014, 05:25:05 PM
You guys may be interested to check out the NXT whitepaper (still in draft mode):

And NXT Technology tree website:

No point to argue I guess, to each their own.

Please, nxtcommunity, we need some good people to help in this thread:

The amount of lies is harmful.

It's free advertising, bullish! Smiley
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT, OpenTransaction and Ripple on: September 22, 2014, 05:18:55 PM
Any good overviews of the technology/whitepapers available? Looking through 22(!) subforums where specific questions are asked and piecing together a crude idea of how everything works is not really how I want to spend this evening... Maybe there are some technical wikis somewhere?

NXT has a draft of whitepaper, not completed because it's still developing, but enough for overall understanding:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cbuwrorf672c0yy/NxtWhitepaper_v122_rev4.pdf

Check out this site too:
http://www.nxttechnologytree.com/

Then download the client to see how it all works, I guess the whitepaper and the actual client will make the picture complete.

610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This article pretty much sums up the crypto/altcoin world nicely on: September 22, 2014, 03:38:34 PM
I guess, said Canadian researchers were trolled hard many times, and this is sort of revenge they attempt now Grin
611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to turn off PoW mining on: September 22, 2014, 02:37:46 PM
Silver and copper also has a history of of being used as currency, and their value also established from the manufacturing cost. You can create a new algo and start an alt-coin, but you have to invest equal amount of chips/energy in order to bring the manufacturing cost close to what bitcoins stands today, thus bring its market capital close to bitcoin

Although gold has a fixed total supply on earth, human has only digged out a very small percentage of gold near the surface of the earth, now many deep gold mines are opening up in China, who knows what the market price will be in the coming years, anyway it can not be consumed easily

Silver and copper also have unique qualities that other metals don't have and cannot be cloned.
612  Other / Meta / Re: China blocks Bitcointalk - what will the results be on the alternate section? on: September 22, 2014, 01:14:08 PM
What's with this reddit guy saying he can access in shanghai free trade zone? he says other things he still can't access, but btctalk is ok! strange, or maybe my knowledge on how china ban works is not so good...

(first comment)

There are no internet restrictions in the Shanghai free trade zone, that's what I heard when it just opened a year ago.
613  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: September 22, 2014, 11:10:21 AM
Just realized that bitcoin price has never closed below weekly lower bb in history. More than, price never hit lower-equal than -1 deviation on weekly timescale.

Don't be so cryptic, speak your mind.

Oh, how did you end up in the Qora thread even? Smiley

Some NXT holders are very annoying that is why I don't want to buy.  Cheesy

So you're evaluating a crypto by some of its holders? Very smart Grin

Mind your own business. I don't need you to tell me how to invest.

Did I hurt your feelings? Another reason to stay away from NXT I guess Cheesy
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Litecoin hold the #2 spot? Doubtful..and here are the coins who will benefit on: September 22, 2014, 10:54:18 AM
Dogecoin hashrate goes above 1 TH/s for the first time, wow! That's more than Litecoin.

616  Other / Meta / Re: China blocks Bitcointalk - what will the results be on the alternate section? on: September 22, 2014, 10:48:12 AM
Interesting. Are there repercussions for Chinese citizens that visit blocked websites or VPN traffic? Probably not, but still curious.

I have some of both of these and others too, but I have more liberal views than you on what holders of coins should act like, I prefer to look at more important factors when I buy Smiley
618  Other / Meta / Re: China blocks Bitcointalk - what will the results be on the alternate section? on: September 22, 2014, 10:43:08 AM
All of my friends in China use VPN to access blocked sites, beyond that I don't see much of a negative impact of particularly Chinese users in the altcoin section.

Do they also block VPN service providers there or don't bother with this?
