1301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: February 08, 2017, 04:06:51 AM
I had to wipe my computer and all my applications.

I am trying to determine if I had a backup of my wallet. How does one backup a wallet?

I believe you need the seed for normal byteballs and the entire data directory for blackballs.

I'm not really a fan of byteball consensus model, but I think there is a problem with your mining pool argument in favor of BTC consensus model: Bitmain produces almost all of the mining hardware used to mine, and there is speculation that not only antpool is a Bitmain in house mining pool, but that f2pool, viabtc, gbminers, and BTC.top are all basically just Bitmain mining with their own hardware under the guise of decentralization. This is only speculation, except for the bit about Bitmain producing almost all the hardware which is fact, but if true there is really a single entity dominating the Bitcoin network.
1303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Mirrax's HIGH RISK altcoin investment guide for 2017 on: February 05, 2017, 09:26:54 PM
Why are you not responding? Your point of view would be interesting on Zcoin. I would have asked the same question about zcoin? Sad

I'll respond - it's retarded to consider something with a de facto 20% premine over the first four years as a currency. I think it's a bit better than zcash due to less of a trusted setup problem, but can't avoid the monkey of a huge dev/founder tax. There are and will be more relaunches with far smaller or zero tax/premine. It's getting pumped now, and might get pumped further due to Roger Ver being one of the investors, but ultimately you can't have a currency that is "taxed" at that level, imo.

MYR trades anywhere about Bittrex ?

Yes, trades on Bittrex here: https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-MYR

Also trades on Poloniex and Cryptopia, and possibly Bitsquare.

They need to update coinmarketcap.com.  It says XMY but bitrex and polinex say MYR

It's Bittrex and Polo that need to update....

Just bumped my support ticket to polo that I filed months ago, might help if others also file tickets. Bittrex just wants like 2 BTC or something to update ticker...
1305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins with SegWit support on: February 05, 2017, 04:21:16 PM
NUFCrichard - it's not only about scaling. In fact, it wasn't originally pitched as scaling solution for Bitcoin. It's about eliminating malleability, allowing cross-chain txs, and getting ready for schnorr sigs and other stuff. See the block capacity point is about the last one on the list:
https://bitcoincore.org/en/2016/01/26/segwit-benefits/

BitcoinNational - it hasn't had a commit on Github in over two years. I wouldn't hold my breath.

I would like to add Decred which i think is a very much undervalued coin.

I like Decred too, but I wouldn't say it's undervalued now - it's up like 6x since Jan 1st.

Is DECRED and XMR coin?

As in all the XMR Fan Club are here and bought into this since day one, i have just been going through the first few pages and checking the posts of users, who are all XMR supporters.

So just wondering if this is a coin made by the XMR team, it seems that way.

No, but one of the original monero core team, tacotime, is a founder of decred.
1308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins with SegWit support on: February 05, 2017, 05:32:53 AM
Did Litecoin really nees segwit or its a test for its big brother BTC ?
You can even have a solid argument for Litecoins but other coins you ask yourself why do they even need SeqWit, some don't even have a daily trade volume of $1000, so why do you want to implement SeqWit

for all of them pure simple hype, thats the only reason it has been implemented, litecoin also

To some extent I agree, but it's nice to see altcoins implement CSV, which should enable trustless atomic cross chain txs and maybe eventually truly decentralized exchanges.

In unrelated news, Groestlcoin finally got a bit of a bounce in price for being first to fire up the hype machine Cheesy

How come Decred devs have chosen such an UNdemocratic mining algorithm for the POW part?

I know that blake is a near perfect cryptographic algo, but that is not my point!!

ASICs will come (fpga are heavily used already for this algo).

How long do you estimate it will take to develop ASICs for blake? It took years before they were developed for litecoin, and litecoin has been in the top 10 for years. It used to be the number two coin so its ASIC developers were guaranteed a good ROI. Decred has a lower market cap so ASIC developers aren't guaranteed a good ROI if they develop blake ASICs for it.

If I'm not mistaken, Blake implemented in Decred has modifications and is exclusive. An asic for blake will not mining DCR

I believe decred just used fourteen rounds of Blake, nothing really special, just more rounds than Blakecoin or whatever used it previously.

Also, I think technically there are already ASICs that mine Blake. Since X11 had Blake as one of its algorithms, and there are X11 ASICs available, that I believe are at least somewhat customizable because I believe these same ASICs can mine quark and qubit as well, it isn't that far out to think these existing ASICs could already be mining decred.

is ahmed bodi not the core dev here any longer? is this project dev less?

cool coin though, ahead of its time. Hope it can gather some interest and development updates that get the community excited enough to get involved.

No, original person who launched the coin, 8bitcoder, is still around. Also some contributions from nzsquirrell who launched unitus. And I think cryptapus has some commits as well.

Where can i exchange at the moment Huh

Poloniex or bittrex probably best bet.

Hi folk Smiley

I am all out of BBR, sold the remainder of what I had on recent little pump. I am currently the top mod on /r/Boolberry though. I messaged /u/boolberry who is second a couple of days ago to see if he wanted absolute control in anticipation, but he hasn't replied.

At the moment, if I remove /u/boolberry and myself, then shadowcoin guy Sebastian will be top on mod list. So, I just wanted to see if clintar or any other folks that have been around since beginning want control, or I should just let /u/boolberry or sebsebastian have it. clintar? dga? Space lobster? Shojayxt?
I don't want it. I don't even reddit...

I figured as much done i think I inherited it from you, but mentioned you as you were post above me.

Speaking of people around from beginning, is btc-mike back? I thought you abandoned ship long ago. You want it?

Is it possible to move these from polo to bittrex directly?

This needs some kind of payment ID but I don't see where that is meant to be put in the polo extraction form?

Can't do a payment id on withdrawal from polo. You could just do it, then file a support ticket with bittrex with your TX ID and hope for the best, but really you should withdraw to your personal wallet then send to bittrex.
