One exchange for this huge ico was so poor planning I'm not happy at all with the direction.  Poloniex should have been a must or otherwise delayed the launch.  Hate to beat a dead horse but it was a huge let down. The fact they still haven't listed it is jaw dropping and totally fucked up tbh.

Yes with hindsight holding off launch until several exchanges including Poloniex and possibly some popular Chinese exchanges were involved would have been better.

A small exchange like Bittrex is too easily manipulated and just does not get enough traffic to benefit from the ebb and flow of volume that larger exchanges get.

Just witness the long dead altcoins from 2014 that have been pumped recently as investors desperately try to exit from ether/DAO and also due to the pre-halving jitters over BTC.  WAVES could have benefitted greatly from that.

I can also sympathise with Sasha and the rest of the team - holding off the launch would have resulted in much anger and flaming from the ICO flipper brigade who just wanted to sell their WAVES ASAP to move on to the next ICO.  It was a difficult situation and they gave in to pressure from the flippers.

Unfortunately what's done is done and it seems things are gradually moving in the right direction.

Oh shitt... itīs rising Shocked
I wanted to buy more at  around 40K - 41K Undecided
It will be 37-38 and tothemoon Grin

Yeah, BTC halving effect is not started yet.
Once BTC price start to move upward  to 1000$,
every altcoin will plumet down.

Probably we will see 30k for LSK.

Where this value come from? The halving had been priced in for months.

And what if the miners stop mining? Then the BTC price goes down...

No then we all die and the world explodes just like the movie 2012.

I think Factom should have a slack channel...   Smiley

No.  I hate slack.  It is against my religion.  (Which is based entirely on being against slack.)

waves at yobit ==> 24V: 0.03 BTC   Grin Grin

yobit = scam.

It's small but nevet had a problem with them.

That's how they get you.  It all works fine for most people although there are rumblings of certain markets being locked, support tickets going unanswered and just odd shenanigans but you don't have any problems yourself so you keep using them.  Then BAM! One day they are gone.

The poloniex disabled deposit and withdrawal will you upgrade to NAV 2.0?

Yes.

Apparently the minister of finance was speaking in Ukraine Odessa conference. Someone told here on forum that this trip was useless  Wink

That someone was "placebo" so it doesn't really count anyway.  Not even placebo believes what he posts.

We still don't know the total coin supply including POW.  Is this still to be determined?

"I made $1,000 in poker this month, I should have not played poker and kept my money in bitcoin because I would have made $1,200 if I kept my cash in bitcoin... since I have to convert my money to bitcoin to get it on the poker site"

So you actually lost money by playing poker compared to just holding bitcoin.  Why not just keep it as bitcoin then?

Exactly! Because what I wrote above is not true. I would have lost money keeping my cash as bitcoin. I moved it on the poker site when bitcoin was $740. The point is, you're Risk/Reward equation is going to be out of control if you use bitcoin for your investment decisions. But its all good, we all have our own style. You can do yours in terms of bitcoin, I will use USD.

I think you misunderstand. Whether thinking in fiat or not people would have had more dollars, pounds or whatever if instead of joining the ICO they had kept their BTC as BTC.

They would have had even more if they had then bought WAVES when it hit 21K after the ICO rather than buying it during the ICO.  That is the point I'm making.

Saying that you are up in fiat terms is way of putting positive spin on the situation but it doesn't change the fact that buying into the ICO actually resulted in a loss.

I do understand that you are saying that you don't normally keep much BTC and only buy it to purchase alts or gambling tokens but I think you are in the minority.

I (and I suspect many others here) keep a balance of bitcoin and altcoins all the time in preference to fiat money.  If I hadn't bought into the ICO those Bitcoins would have just stayed in my wallet and risen in value.

Anyway as WAVES moves forwards this will become less important.

The potential here is huge as many of us know.

I bought Lisk after attending the prestigious International Beard Economics Conference.  Professor Baby Beard (who is also a genius baby with a beard) gave a very important talk on it and advised us all to invest.  I decided to buy 3 trillion Lisk immediately.

I calculate my gains and losses in terms of fiat too. I do not calculate in terms of bitcoin. I would never hold all bitcoin, that is just risky. When I make a crypto investment decision I do take the conversion to bitcoin into account though. I do not think, "well if I kept all bitcoin I would be up more" that also would increase my risk. Anyway, I make decisions based on fiat, and calculate gain and loss that way.

I'm proud of you Wink

How did you buy WAVES using fiat?

No because you still don't get it.

Everyone that is worried about waves and the price should take a look at numbers, and numbers say we are in the money

waves raised 30094 BTC according to ICO statistics
BTC was worth around 540$ at a time when ICO has ended
so Waves marketcap was 16250760$ at a time when ICO has ended
1 Wave equaled ~0,1625 $

as far as i can see we're well in the money for some time since BTC is ~640$ and waves marketcap is 20518200$

we earned like 25% so far... all is good
I guess that is somehow true if you bought with USD. If you bought with BTC then it is not like this because if you kept your BTC they would be worth around $650 right now.

Nobody bought with USD as there was no way to buy directly with fiat.  The ICO was BTC only so it's incorrect for anyone who bought in the ICO to say they are in profit at present because they look at the dollar value.

In order to do the calculation correctly you need to look at how much your Bitcoin would be worth if it wasn't put into the ICO and compare that to the value of your ICO WAVES.  WAVES is still under the ICO price in BTC and the bitcoin price is still significantly higher in USD value than it was throughout the ICO.

The only ones who can be in profit are those who bought during the dip after the ICO.

I'm not deliberately destroying people's enthusiasm but unless they do the right calculations and look at things realistically it is impossible to understand how much your gains and losses are.  It may seem harmless but this kind of clueless investing and ignorance is what leads to panic buying and selling.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to spread the word about WAVES to Chinese investors and exchanges?

Would that work still?
WAVES had been advertised everywhere particularly on facebook ads, I've been sharing about it every now and then but seem not working. What is needed for now it the platform development news.  This is so we all can see if they are working well and that its doable.

Yes it would work. Facebook is not in China and a lot of people don't use those kind of sites anyway - the demographic is getting pushed towards retired people who are very unlikely to invest in cryptocurrencies due to the risks/volatility.  News is good but actual development coupled with advertising are more important.  News is useless if you can't spread it.

Just out of interest. Does anyone know how many coins are on the V1 network?

Around 8.5 mill unswapped coins.
And FYI we just received email from polo they are preparing the old nav and setup the new ones right now. So then a few more million will be swapped

Great news.  Looks like they might have been waiting for the BTC halving to be done first.

For those that haven't seen it this a is video featuring Fyrstikken talking about Waves in the second half (he talks about bitcoin first). He makes some useful points for those who don't understand WAVES.  His main take home point is - "WAVES will do for the stock markets what Bitcoin does for money."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY2H3sh7s1U

Great video. Thanks for posting. The idea of waves being so stock market focused is the reason this coin has so much potential... Ive even read about waves being compared to the nasdaq.  A question you might be able to help with; the lite client is geared for chinese yuan as well. Im guessing waves devs are looking to get asian exchanges on board... does anyone know if anything has been mentioned regarding this? Thank you

Not mentioned yet but I doubt the team will forget about them.  China is one of the biggest markets so a necessity.  Right now I think the team are probably more focussed on getting Waves to Chinese BTC exchanges to raise the profile of the token first.

With that in mind - are there any Chinese WAVES investors here - perhaps they have some suggestions on how best to spread the word?

China was going big on ether before the DAO crisis.  Indeed, had it not been for the crisis with DAO, ether could easily have hit $100 per coin.

Those investors are probably seeking to invest in something else now that the BTC halving is done.  With the long term plans for waves this would probably be more palatable to them than most other alts.

The 98 million obviously doesn't include mining (unless the mining reward is just transaction fees).  I think people want to know what the total coin supply will be including mining.
