There has been lots of cases like this, and even worse, but somehow the users of CEXes continues to grow consistently. It could either be that; • People have built lots of trust on those platforms, and do not see such leaks and hacks as a fault of the exchange, • Or, the public see no other option besides CEX.
The former can be helped by posts like this, showing the failings of such platforms and now they put your funds and privacy at risk. As to the latter, it would also need a collective effort. Many a time I come across posts of users touting centralized exchanges as a necessary evil which one must deal with, and this is far from the truth.
Whatever your deal with Bitcoin is, there's always a decentralized and private option which many choose to ignore: • For storing coins, there are so many non custodian wallets one can use, electrum, Bitcoin core etc. • For purchases and sales, there are P2P platforms like bisq. • For trading, there are also decentralized options. But due to the idea that CEXes offer more liquidity and convenience, such platforms get very few traders in comparison, meaning less liquidity Liquidity follows trades, CEXes have higher liquidity cause majority use them, not the other way around.

And also scammers always rush on newbies because they can easily be deceived.
Scammers don't rush on newbies, they would attempt to rip off literally anyone, the only difference is some users are more easily accessible, cause they leave details about themselves all around. • Email addresses while signing up for airdrops, • Phone number and KYC information when using exchanges, • Social profiles when joining bounty projects etc. All these can be used to access and create a personalized scam, targeted against a user. You avoid this by staying private, as much as is possible, and also being cautious; everything is a scan until proven otherwise.

If you have to talk about the coins you are currently holding or how many btc you have in your wallet online make sure you aren't using your real picture
No one has to talk about their holdings, there's no job or service that requires you to do that, anyone who does that chooses to, and that's a bad decision that no on should be making. this is why I recommend bitcointalk to my friends, its not social like twitter where you can throw the world your handsome faces, this forum is the safest place to discuss everything crypto
Even on Twitter or other social platforms, you do not have to reveal your personal identity to the public, and many platforms have Windows where one can register without including their personal phone number, but only use a throwaway email address

So, can I sell: or buy guns on the forum? Americans have some beautiful toys, a lot better than the ak47 rust coming from URSS You would have to try first and see if the mods let it fly. I highly doubt it would be allowed to stay up as it's illegal in many places around the world to buy fire arms OTC and you will need to provide lots of personal information, which many don't share here on he forum. Why don't you post links? Those threads break the rules and you will make it easier for the mods to find them to trash them.
Reporting to moderators would get their attention faster and make it easier for it to be trashed.

Even you're a shitposter or spammer, it's still fine and your journey wouldn't be end. If you did plagiarism and someone report your post, your account high like will be banned by the moderators.
Spamming is actually a bannable offence, starting from series of temporary bans and leading up to a permanent ban if the user keeps on spamming the forum. This rule is of course not taking as seriously as it should be, and plagiarism attracts a swifter and permanent penalty.

and how can i know where and when to make a post.
For the where; check through the descriptions on the various boards to decide which is a best fit. If you do make a mistake here, the mods can move your thread to the one they feel is a better fit. For when; at the time you have something to contribute to at least one other forum member, or have some question or inquiry to get clarity on. It helps to use the forum search option to confirm if there is previous discssioons on that topic, that would guide what content you include, or if you go ahead to make the post at all.

Do i get it right saying that a copper membership will enable posting pictures but anyway i need to take part in at least 30 posts? To get the points?
Yes, copper membership would raise the restriction on posting images and give your profile the privileges of a member ranked account. No, you do not have to make 30 posts or get the required activity. It's a quicker way than ranking up directly. So my next steps are a membership and a proper engagement into discussions? If you've decided to purchase copper membership, then yes, those are the next steps. Read the forum rules and engage constructively.

It's no secret that the price of Bitcoin is speculative and many use it as an investment. The value has multiplied thousands of times over, in the course of it's history, so, some would naturally expect it to increase further and as such hold on to it. So How will willing are you to spend crypto for your purchases?
A drop in the price would not factor in much with a $1 purchase of a cup of coffee, or less than $50 for a hardware wallet. I can still comfortably do this from time to time, along with other small, daily purchases involving Bitcoin (that's what I hold). If one doesn't spend their crypto for purchases and wait for to spend their crypto when its price is nice, are they really considering it as a cryptocurrency or can we assume like those people are treating more like a security or investment instrument?
For some it could be a currency, for others a hedge fund, and for some others a currency.

Stop giving Elon Musk relevancy in relation to bitcoin price. Nothing he does affest Bitcoin, except you (and many others) are greatly influenced by him and react to his actions. My pizza order could have more of an impact on the price of Bitcoin than the purchase of Twitter.
And there has been too much back and forth on that purchase story to really expect anything to be decided soon.

This is something that I can't still understand, why is there so much pressure to tip in restaurant, in taxi, tip to the delivery guy, etc.
As you stated in your topic title, it's the culture, i.e, way of life of the people there. Same way there are places where it's rude to tip, places where strangers are welcomed easily without questions and so on. Culture as a whole doesn't take on a practical approach, it's more traditional and historical, and while there are many cultures which are not generally acceptable, stopping them is a hassle. And its also because the guys in the restaurant will remember you don't give tips to them, they will spit and piss on your drink which I'm sure you won't like it. To be sure, do you pay the bill at a restaurant before you order or after you're done? I'm used to it being paid after, so except you are a regular at a particular place, they would not suspect whether or not you're going to tip.

Welcome to Bitcointalk forum. 2. Image Insertion This feature is for image Insertion. In between you can post an image link. For the image to be rendered, you would need to convert it to a BBcode first, otherwise it would not be displayed. Even as a newbie, if you did it correctly, the image would show up in your profile and when someone who can post images quotes your post.

Disappointing result from Barcelona, and I dare say; lots of work to be done in order to compete in Europe, despite the great form in the league.
Tonight's result swings the pendulum in favour of inter heading into the reverse fixture, but it's still very much in Barcelona's hands to decide their fate.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: which btc address generated do yall use ?
|
on: October 04, 2022, 07:17:46 PM

The phrase 'bitcoin generator's makes it seem a bit complex, in the basic sense, you want to create a wallet which holds your private and public keys. Electrum is a great option for this, so is Bitcoin core. Ensure you follow the process securely, to really keep the process safe, and back up your seedphrase properly.
If you're looking for an address that would cut on fees, you should go for SegWit addresses (starting with a 'b'). It reduces the fee rate paid on transactions, as it (basically) reduces the size of the transaction.

@o_e_l_e_o, I'm just interested in something when it comes to Bisq and similar platforms when it comes to payment to one of the services/bank accounts after a person sells BTC or wants to buy it. I understand that all the data is saved locally on each client's disk, but do the clients see each other's data when they have a transaction - specifically if I sell Bitcoin and make a payment to my bank account, does the other party see my data?
I'm certain that bisq does not control fiat transactions which happens off their platform, so it's certain the buyer of your Bitcoin would see your bank account details necessary to make the payment. This would be the same with other means of exchange. In this scenario, your data would not be fully exposed, but only enough for the other party to be able to make a transaction, and you confirm on receipt of the funds. It's advisable to use a privacy-centered means of accepting fiat payment, to avoid disclosing personal details

I have indeed hitting some errors when accessing the search option over the past few days, did not note the particular error, and also did nottthink too much of it, as it was not in an amount to be bothered about.
I'm guessing your case is of a much higher duration than 2-4 errors over that span of about 3 days and over two different browsers (Firefox and duckduckgo).

Is there any Bitcoin services that are known to keep anonymity? A bitcoin arena that It's known not sharing the information with 3th parties or governments?
By Bitcoin arena, do you mean exchange? If yes, then the above suggestion bisq and LocalCryptos are good options but the medium of paying also has to be private. There are other centralized and P2P platforms which promise to not disclose your information. But, whatever personal details you've shared with a 2nd party should be considered compromised, as they can be hacked and stolen, or the government through a court order forces them to reveal it. Even if they promise not to keep logs, you should still not trust them entirely.

Your first post is in the Gambling Discussion Thread. Also, I don't see any of your deleted posts. Why do you ask such stupid questions, then? I don't see the need to create the thread you created, as it's worth trying first and asking later.
The culture of hitting on newbies, for the sake of it is quite unhealthy to me. Members ask questions based on ignorance of the fact, and sometimes can, and should, be given the benefit of the doubt even if it looks obvious to older members. Op could be asking if there's an unwritten rule about it, and even though the can post there (other boards), is it something the should be doing, or it could be a simple oversight. If you are asking about the opportunity to write on a topic for beginners, then such questions, if they continue, are unlikely to give you a reputation. It is necessary to be independent; the forum is not a kindergarten.
Newbies are encourage to ask questions, B&H could very well be the kindergarten of the forum, and it's a complex forum enough for anyone to get confused on one thing or the other.

He intends to do this by building "the largest power plant in the world" and creating a new currency system based on "units of power."
His thinking might have be somewhat similar to the Bitcoin idea, but the intention was way different. Having a singular power plant fueling the system already presents a sort of centralization, one which can be controlled, particularly by the state it is located in; considering that control of money (to sponsor wars) was the idea behind the whole thought, that would have made it no different
